  1. Aw, not Ozan. In a season where it would be hard to pick a favorite, he would have been a strong possibility. You could tell he knew it was coming

Isn’t this the second time someone had to make corn on the cob?  I don’t think that one was successful either. I hope they drop that, it looked too time consuming.

Genevieve‘s looked great, but I was kind of surprised that they didn’t say anything about her only baked element in the main dish and just some coconut, cherries and bacon mixed in. I think they’ve done that before when a kid has done something similar. Although I guess making the boba could have made up for that.

Happy for her win regardless, she reminds me of my niece.

Did any of the other kids make something additional for the escargot?  Didn’t seem like anyone else had time.

I think Keaton was overconfident, and was always talking about how good he was at everything. Clearly he was not perfect at everything. I got tired of Bella's whining but I think she had some good moves, as did Jonah and Haylin. I am just bugged because I knew from the beginning that Duff was going to choose Keaton, and giving him passes for his mistakes just increased what seemed to be smugness on his part.

What did Keaton say he was good at besides cake?

Duff isn’t the only judge. How do you know Valerie (or anyone else behind the scenes) wasn’t giving him passes for his mistakes and that they were worse than any of the other kid’s mistakes?

  3. I’m willing to assume Reggie got a crap edit. We saw just 40 minutes, but they were baking for five hours, plus judging, filming their interviews, and who knows what else.  That’s a lot of time for anyone, let alone kids in a high pressure baking competition.  Anyone, even adults, would have their moments  of being less than perfect.

We saw barley saw two minutes of Reggie being a little rude. I doubt Sam and Greyson were perfect happy angels the whole time either.

She's a smiley girl for sure. She cracked me up when she covered her face about the flames and she said she hoped she didn't get sued because she's broke! LOL!

That, and her comment about the second time almost resulting in death. Even the camera man (or whoever else was in the room) laughed at that.

  5. Based on his past messiness, I don’t think  poor Tarek had a good chance of winning unless both of the others screwed up. And then once he went with another chocolate cake and no other more challenging techniques except basic fondant, he was definitely done.

I wonder why Sophie only used one cupcake each for the antenna. It looked like she was planning on stacking a few in her drawing. It was a cute cake, but better antenna and maybe some shaping of the cake might have won it for her.  No idea how difficult that would be with the time given.

Glad Tevin won. I enjoyed his deadpan humor and the way he laughed at his little flubs during his interview portions. And how calm he stayed when things went wrong. That little alien he made was adorable.

  6. I don’t know how many of you are coffee drinkers, but the flavored coffee are surprisingly good, and are what made me into a regular coffee drinker. Although in the case of actual coffee, I think it’s more about the aroma than the actual flavor.

Besides the obvious flavors that go well with coffee, I was surprised to like strawberry, blueberry, and especially coconut.

Since this is a baking championship, and not necessarily a decorating one, I'm glad that the prize went to the baker with the most delicious cake.  YMMV.

Definitely agree. I think they generally make decisions on taste, assuming the bakers didn’t do something obviously wrong.

Especially when it comes to controversial eliminations. We can’t taste the items and only hear what the editors decide we should hear, so we don’t always have the whole picture.

  8. Davis’s instagram has some picture of all the bakers together, along with some comments about bakers who were eliminated.  It sure looks like he was social and having fun with the others, despite what we’ve been shown. The other kids also have instagrams with similar pictures.

  9. I’m getting the impression that the judges are being more critical on the taste of Davis’s work than we’re being shown and that’s why he looks so worried all the time. Duff made that comment about his artistry vs his craft.

Regarding Jaxon and Madison indecent, I think Jaxon just got overexcited about his ideas and didn’t handle it very well. Yes, he shouldnt behave that way and a parent should talk to it about him and use it as a teaching moment, but calling him a bully or labeling it as sexist seems a bit much. Especially knowing how highly edited the show is. Someone mentioned that Jaxon didn’t even congratulate Madison when she won, but we just know they didn’t show it.

I know now we can only judge based on what they show us, but there seems to be a tendency to assume the worst.

As though the show isn't short enough already, they've started showing "previouslies" at the beginning.

Not only are they showing "previouslies", they're not even cutting out unnecessary material.  All we need to know is that Raj's father thinks he's spoiled, and Raj won't take any more money from him.  We don't need to see everyone's reactions and comments to those things.
