A woman of her education level should see the red flags and at least get her children out of harms way. There is no legitimate reason for her and her kids to still be in the country. Like she said you can get a whole plane anytime you want. So lady pack up your kids and leave, you can always come back at the drop of a dime. There are only two explanations I will accept for her staying. One she is a plant of some kind, who hired her I do not care. Or I want to see her standing in front of a mirror with a tiara practicing her princess Diana wave, while asking who is the fairest of them all. The latter would reveal a level of Bat Sh*t Crazy, that could only be good for the show.
I think it's a serious misstep on the part of the writers if either of those scenarios don't emerge. I can believe a dictator's son wanting to leave his past and his country behind. I can buy that he has his demons, and has inherited more of his dad's ruthlessness than he is comfortable with. I can buy the rich, spoiled brother and his long suffering, contemptuous wife. All of that sets up a compelling story with all sorts of possibilities. But Holly is a joke. I wonder if they'll try ret-conning some kind of explanation for her, or if one is to come. If not, let her get kidnapped or killed and become the catalyst for Barry's turn to the dark side.

I love this show for some reason. I agree with everyone who says Barry's decision to stay was rushed...and this his past with Leila was telegraphed right from the start. That's pretty standard fare for flashbacky shows like this.
What really bugs is how clueless, how seemingly willfully ignorant Molly and the kids are. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Dana and Jessica Brody are geniuses compared to these people. Abuddin is obviously awash with human rights violations. I can't believe any of them wouldn't have Googled the place hundreds of times...if not weekly. I mean, if my father-in-law was the head of state somewhere I would have a little more than a passing interest in their affairs. That's what takes me out of the show.
How would it have hurt the show to have Molly really, really, reticent to go there? Why couldn't she have insisted they leave? That would add more tension to the show, and give Barry more to chew on. They easily could have invented some plot device to make their escape impossible..like getting their names on a no fly list or somesuch...refused entry to the US or whatever.
Sure, I can see the son wanting to stay for the cars, power, affluence, and steam rooms, but I can't see any modern mother and angsty teen wanting to even go there in the first place, much less hang around for the inevitable violence that's sure to come.
Good show though.

Ugh. I was Louie back in the day. I related often during this episode. I think he did a great job depicting what guys like us went through in the 80s. This is not my favourite season, but it's worth watching. It's uncomfortable, and it's on TV. Louis CK is one of the very few who can pull that off these days. Hit or miss, he's doing important work.

Another thing that bugged. Why is Nicky suddenly over her heroine temptation? Here she is with the mother load and it seemed as though she wasn't at all interested in using it. Maybe they'll bring it up next season as it was left in it's reasonably good hiding space.

I just finished watching all 13 episodes starting yesterday at 3 pm, and ending today at 3 pm. Overall I thought it was a strong group of episodes. I am looking forward to hearing what everyone else thought about he season in general, as opposed to individual episodes.

Such a great character, and a terrible person. She was believable as nurturing (dinner scene), and as a menace.
She might as well have pulled the trigger herself on RJ.
Just finished watching all 13 episodes in 24 hours. Looking forward to the rewatch!

I too didn't see it as being romantic at all. She was clearly in crisis. I was worried she was going to harm herself.
Did anyone else think "The Wet Bandits" when she started running the tub? I thought she might burn the house down if she hadn't been interrupted.
It bugs she wasn't caught, though. The obvious prison van was parked right in front of the house...how could Christopher not see it? "Christopher: Officer, I saw a prison van parked outside" "Officer: we'll call the neighbouring institutions to see if any were in the area today." A few phone calls later and the cops would have linked Morello with the break-in, and Morello goes away for a long, long time.

I would say all of the above. And I would also say that Piper will give a different reason depending on the situation or moment. All of those reasons are so intertwined with one another that it's hard to separate them anyway.
I think at this point Piper can be manipulative enough to get whatever she wants from Alex. Does Alex know it was Piper who set the wheels in motion for Davey Crocket's bust?
Well, it'll be hard for him to get visitation rights if he's in prison, but I could see him slipping through the cracks. I'm guessing once it's time for the baby to actually be born someone will do some calculations and see it doesn't work out, but they don't have much reason to suspect Pornstache isn't the father right now.
I knew Alex was going to end up back in prison at some point due to the announcement that Prepon would be a regular next season, but I thought they might leave that setup for then.
How does it not work out? All she has to say is she hasn't been with anyone else. Besides, medically, the clock doesn't start ticking until the missed period. That gives them lots of wiggle room to say it was Pornstache. But yeah, I would think a paternity test would be pretty standard here.

That was almost a satisfying ending. Loved Rosa running down V and the look on her face just before she went for it.
I really wanted to see Fig go down for fraud and embezzlement...but it could still happen during the "off season". I think she would look good in orange.
Does Piper want Alex back in Litchfield for a) to not be alone b) Alex's safety c) revenge? d) all of the above?
V was a great character who really knew how to work people. You could really see how she did a number on Mendoza to get what she wanted. V was a woman among girls. You could see her downfall coming, but it only made it sweeter in the end. I loved the look Mendoza gave Norma like "see, I told you it would work".

Bear in mind his father just died. I'm sure he has all sorts of daddy issues and a lot of guilt for turning his back on them. Grief is a powerful and chaotic thing...he's acting like he doesn't know up from down. Maybe he's got some kind of saviour complex and will start off trying to bring democracy and freedom to his people, and end up making things worse. Who knows, but at this point he's an interesting guy. I wonder how many scenes they cut, maybe they would shed a little light on some of his quick turns.
