No, I thought the same thing and I was so shocked when I saw that wasn't the case.

I actually wondered if I'd missed an episode for a second. That was very confusing timing unless they wanted to misdirect us for whatever reason!

I agree rose Leslie seems a bit too harsh. It’s interesting because she does not seem like that in the behind the scenes. My theory is that in doing the American accent she overcompensates and comes across as strident.

i found the brothers rudeness hilarious and UTTERLY UNBELIEVABLE in a waspy family. No. Effing. Way. He would hint not needle that blatantly. I was amazed his parents allowed it.

the fake fire, Nell not caring deeply, the meadow not being as big as it seemed (even to us in the credits), the view of the road and factory chimneys- all heartbreaking.

Wait was there a credits scene?

episode 6 was the first time I noticed one

  3. One thing that puzzles me: I could swear the Henry who slept with 18 year old Clare ended up at the diner party. How would he know what to write to her about ‘mercy’ when he was yet to go there?

(I guess younger him lived it.. I’m also not fully sure what the mercy note actually accomplished. Also why write her a note when he was actually there as his older self to tell her??)

Loving the show but the episodes seem so.. episodic I’m half fearing the story won’t be completed within the first and only season?)

  4. I actually never minded Powell.
Do always wonder with these kind of things: do they just introduct a random bunch of new doctors every (other) season, then decide who to keep based on audience response? Or is it all planned ahead?
(Also thinking of that time Asher and Jordan arrived with 2 or 3 other goners)

If you take the story as literally true, yes, it's self-defense. If you take it as a case where Gomez was admitting what he had to (that he was involved in the death) but lying about exactly what happened, then you could very well see it as murder. I am sure a lot of actual killers give statements where they admit that they killed the person but claim it was self-defense.

An issue with this show is that casting Christina Ricci and Gwendolyn Christie almost certainly meant one of them was going to be the season's Big Bad, and it was clear (to me, anyway) early on that it wasn't going to be Christie.

My suspicions went all over the place but I did notice pretty soon that, unless she was indeed bad,  Christina's character seemed completely pointless and like a cute cameo that never seemed to end. She just got way too much screentime without actually adding anything at all (besides: 'look this school has 1 teacher!')

Plenty of actors have a a theater background without being "theatre-y" in their on camera acting. I took that to mean a bit overstated, externalized, mannered, and glib.

I always want to caveat that I was not a Santino Fontana fan and didn't like Greg, so some of the stuff I disliked about this Greg might be some of the stuff that fans of his LIKE about Greg. For instance, the characteristic uptalking and inflecting a question into so many lines of dialogue started to feel tiresome and lazy to me in the original actor and also in what Astin is doing. Maybe it didn't feel organic to me, more like a mannerism / habit, un-fresh. Heather can uptalk all day and I just think it's "her" and am entertained.

I keep re-watching the Valencia/Heather stuff. I love Heather running around standing behind different girls, asking V if this is the one. I loved V telling Heather, "My pronouns tracked." I loved Gabrielle's line delivery on "Joseph!" And Josh's original friend group is such a mess. Josh basking in his ego to the point he's making an endless speech and finally has to be shut down and set straight. Hector not getting around to doing the 10 year reunion until 12 years later (and what a tiny reunion it was based on the venue and # of background players). Greg still being pretty much preferring to be detached than all in. I do sort of doubt Greg bailing on the reunion. He still liked those guys when he left. They all bid farewell to him at the airport, even Josh was kind of teary.

But they suggested Greg had been back before so he probably already caught up with his friends recently. So not necessarily a reason to stay at the reunion.
