  1. I never thought I'd say this, but this show is starting to make me sad.  I don't feel like they are transitioning well from the original premise of Liza hiding her age from everybody and trying to find her way, to whatever the new premise of the show is supposed to be.

The continuity of each character is becoming more and more erratic (as others have said, while I enjoyed the Diana/Cheryl number that is COMPLETELY out of character for her).  The outlandishness of the unprofessionalism and the complete disregard by everyone at Empirical for the same (as others have said, Kelsey gets plastered IN FRONT OF HER BOSS with alarming regularity, for just one example) is becoming harder to watch without making me completely irritated.

The time jumps either don't make sense, or don't allow us to make sense of what has happened.  I still don't understand how Liza and Charles went from first sleeping together, to spending boring domestic nights together, to breaking up, to missing each other so badly, to sleeping together again, all within the span of 3 or so episodes.

Charles is (again as others have said) seemingly the least astute and competent businessperson ever, and to me is still more morose and boring than brooding and sexy.  And although I have been #teamJosh since the beginning, his appearance in episodes feels increasingly marginal, forced, and unsatisfying.

I hope, but don't expect, that the last episode of the season brings me back to the level of fondness I had for this show the first 5 seasons.  Of course I'm going to watch season 7 no matter what, but I wish I was as excited for every episode as I once was...

I see Josh and Caitlin getting together in the future. They have to give Josh a reason for being and Caitlin has been featured more and more. A whole new storyline. Liza not being able to accept it, Liza and Caitlin will have relationship issues, Liza and Josh's friendship strained. Wait for it....

I will 100% quit watching this show if that happens.

Red flags were fluttering throughout for me in this episode. Yes, Charles is behaving immorally, if not illegally. He's having an undercover affair with a woman who is his low-level employee - Liza is still Diana's assistant, with a side job as a principal in Millennial. (What does she get paid? Assistant minimum wage or chief editor salary?) That is already a sexual harassment waiting to happen. It already leaves him open to (inadvertent) blackmail. (I agree with Miss Evo that he bought the book because he thought Redmond was hinting about revealing the affair.)

If he really cared for Liza (and his business), he would have waited to have sex with her when he was legally free (completed his divorce). He would have spun off Millennial into its own separate company. We know the imprint is successful, it's played its part in keeping Empirical afloat. He would have established Liza officially as a senior editor/publish and THEN begun a relationship with her as an independent woman. He's not a horny teenage boy who can't wait. (One the most romantic things I've heard recently was from a man who started a relationship with the premise that his woman friend was the one forever - not just a casual fling.)

The secret relationship is so not sexy for me. I've been in too many of them, and always felt as if I was an embarrassment to the man, and not good enough to be considered an official partner.

I'm worried for the girls too. He's been their primary parent for over a year and he can only cook 4 meals? I guess they've been brought up by nannies and housekeepers (and Liza as baby sitter.)

I agree with you 100%. I also thought Charles was totally disrespectful and an asshole for buying the book and allowing Kelsey to find out from a 3rd party.  Yes, it's his business and he can run it into the ground however he sees fit, but you should treat your employees with decency and respect.  if he was going to override her decision, he should have firmly told her WHY he was doing it, BEFORE he did it.  It's just rude passive-aggressive bullshit, and IMO a signal that he feels that his wishes are more important than anyone else's.  Not a good sign for a respectful long term partnership.  And I thought Liza and Charles' chemistry in the kitchen was a snooze fest.  Still #TeamJosh

I just fear the story is going to end up being that Liza escaped domestic life to sew her wild oats with Josh and realize that she wanted what she had all along and settles down with Charles to be a wife and mommy again because that's what we women really want.

    LOL and word

  5. Hi.. I'm new here... been watching the show since the beginning and am a huge fan and excited to finally find other people who love it!  So at the risk of annoying everyone else right off the bat I'll jump right in.  I am, and have always been, Team Josh. Like some of the other posters, I also didn't feel the chemistry between Charles and Liza that so many others felt... and it was magnified in creepiness for me that he is her boss.  I also feel that Charles and Liza are soon going to become mired in dragging each other down.  I thought it was a small but telling detail that Liza hated Charles' beard so much, and he wound up shaving it off for her, not because he wanted to.  (Even though Liza never had a problem with Josh's beard).  I always felt that Josh brought out Liza's playful and fun side, and Charles just makes her subdued and mopey.

I also differ with many of you who hate Pauline's character and blame her for the end of the marriage.  This is possibly because I actually read the Marriage Vacation book (Yes in case you didn't know, they actually published a book with Pauline's back story of the lost year) and the book was surprisingly pretty good in a) just being entertaining, and b) explaining the backstory and feelings as to how Pauline wound up being gone a year.  She gave up her interests and career and life to support Charles, and it was eventually taken for granted and certainly not reciprocated.  Regardless of your feelings about Pauline I believe there is blame on both sides as to how they got to that point in their marriage.

    Thanks for having me :-)
