Gotta love how perfect it was that Gwen told Ann that it's worth being with Bobby because it will lead to great roles like Roxie.

Ann would find that out herself, about 25 years later.

    Spoiler

She actually replaced Gwen in the original 1976 production then played Roxie again to open the 1996 revival.  Ironically, neither Fosse, Verdon or any of the original production won the Tony (A Chorus Line swept), but Ann won for choreographing the revival.

Right, but there have been people who underwent even more awful childhoods than AC, who have led lives of helping others, not destroying others.  He went through what he went through, just like the rest of us, but he still murdered people.  I can't blame the murders of those men on the way AC was brought up.  I blame them on AC.

Not to mention all three of AC's siblings have been productive members of society despite growing up in the same house with the same messed up parents.

The really alarming thing is that - if I followed all the articles I read correctly - Andrew and David had only spent that one night together. My heart broke a little for Andrew when David said, "I get the feeling you haven't had many great nights like that." That line was so spot on. Andrew had developed this intense attachment to David after only meeting him once, likely because David was such a kind person and showed genuine interest in Andrew.

Ugh. Madson's death really was the most tragic of the five. He seemed really pure and kind.

Andrew and David dated long distance for 4-6 months or so and neither were exclusive.  Andrew would not give David his phone number (he did not want Norman to answer) or address but would send David postcards from everywhere he went.

I don't follow hockey, so was there some hockey development that necessitated showing a game from 5-7 am where no game had previously been scheduled?

It makes no sense - the gold medal game starts in 10-15 minutes and will be long over by 4 am EST.

We're finally getting some gala on NBC but just the Shibs so far.

Unfortunately, Scott and Taneth talked through most of the performance so we could not hear the song.....

Why do we even have commentary for the gala - add a ticker with the skaters name and call it a day.

The whole vibe after the score was announced was weird, though, at least based on the NBC broadcast. After that skate I think everyone expected Med to win gold and were dismayed that that didn’t happen, and it seemed like the vibe was more depressed/disappointed for her than happy for Zag.

It sure sounded like the crowd thought Med was underscored.

I saw Mirai's group on NBCSN. I wasn't watching consistently, but I saw Mirai and Karen Chen.  I didn't end up watching through the final group so I don't know if they ever stopped showing it on NBCSN, but they pretty much stayed with the Ladies Short all evening.

NBCSN showed every skater live.  They would break away during the warmup/zamboni time and show some hockey or curling.  Maybe people thought they weren't coming back to skating because of that?

  8. NBCSN announced at the start of the night that they were airing the entire ladies program.  There was no need for any viewer to change the channel unless you wanted to watch a different sport.

As a west coast viewer, I am loving the east coast feed.  Everything is done by 10ish and then they start it over again so I can catch what I missed while commuting.

  9. Is anyone else have trouble accessing videos on the app or nbcolympics.com?   When it tries to authenticate my xfinity plan, it says I need to upgrade to a plan with the USA Network even though my current plan includes that network.  Reloading the app did not help. I can get around it 30 min at a time via incognito mode but that really annoying and I shouldn't have to resort to workarounds given how much I pay xfinity every month. Any suggestions?

NBC is not advertising that they are showing the full skating events on NBCSN. I too, also found out by looking at my network guide early this morning.

I heard Mike Tirico telling viewers to find the full pairs program on NBCSN after the US skated as NBC switched back to snowboarding.  They may have also mentioned it at the start of the program but I was not home yet.

I've been reading lots on Victoria and her family, including We Two, Born to Rule, and am just starting The Last Princess.  Can anyone recommend a good bio of Edward VII?

I found Jane Ridley's The Heir Apparent to be fascinating and quite an easy read..

Imagine was a really nice touch. Not only is the message appropriate but it was a nice bit of outreach to do a song that would be so familiar to western audiences.

The melody is familiar enough that I wish it was sung in Korean or both Korean and English.   Bridge the east and west a bit.

I believe Catherine still uses Middleton officially.   When she and Prince William sued the French papers for publishing nude photos of them, she sued using the name Catherine Middleton and he used William Wales.    So the Middleton use is accurate.   But Kate is a moniker stuck on her by the tabs and never ever used by her  or her family.

I would not read much into that.   French law requires women to use their maiden name when filing lawsuits.  William had to use his legal surname of Mountbatten-Windsor as the French don’t recognize titles.

  14. Anyone who's ever owned leather gloves knows they can shrink with age, weather etc.

How many of the jurors ever owned or even worn a pair of gloves?  Most Angelinos never have a need form them, have no idea how certain fabrics are supposed to fit or what factors effect the fit. This is a part of the country where a not insignificant portion of the adult population doesn't own long pants.

  15. Fuhrman sucks and he deserved the walk of shame.  I don't know what is going on with him now. I know after the trial he wrote the book Murder in Greenwich about the Martha Moxley murder. Christopher Meloni also played Fuhrman in the movie based of the book.

He is a regular commentator on FoxNews regarding crime stories including racially charged ones like Ferguson, Mo.

  16. Simi Valley meant nothing to me either.  Maybe I'm dense (see above!), and I am familiar with the Rodney King situation, but the first episode was several weeks ago, and someone living in Simi Valley just didn't set off any alarm bells for me, nor would I have assumed that the cops in that town had anything to do with the cop on the stand.

The cops in the Rodney King case were LAPD but the jury that acquitted them were Simi Valley residents.  That jury was pulled from Det. Vannader's neighbors, the parents of his kid's friends, etc and Cochran wanted OJ's jury to equate Vannader with Rodney King's jury.

Slightly OT: It also happens to be where the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library (opened in 1991) is located celebrating the life of the man who popularized the term "welfare queen" and kicked off his 1980 Presidential (General Election) Campaign in the very same tiny Mississippi town where where three civil rights workers were murdered in the 60s.
