Maybe I am wrong but I DO feel the plot is coherent.

I think that the plot is coherent.  It shows how Kai is able to manipulate and gain followers.  I just find the timeline confusing.  Except for election night, I am not sure when events are happening and in what order.  The latest episode had flashbacks within flashbacks.  How much time has passed since the election?

For example - Ivy is currently somewhat hesitant about the violence of the cult but it's now revealed that she knew about the cult from day one of the show. So when she agreed to let Ally check on the the restaurant alarm, she knew the cult had already murdered one of her employees - her head chef as I recall - for Ally to find. If it's all orchestrated, then she knew Harrison had given Ally a gun, and she knew she was sending Pedro to Ally the gun wielding paranoid. So Ivy has had her hand in two murders but is cringing now?

I wondering too how long it took Ivy to become OK with murder.

  2. Kai enlisted Harrison and Meadow for his own agenda.  So, then who attacked Meadow?  Was it Kai?  Or does Kai's cult have an enemy?

The attack on Emma Robert's character only had 3 clowns.  Kai, Harrison and Meadow?

Also, I don't know if its a thing or not but so far every woman but Ally has a first name to do with nature.

We have Ivy, Winter, Meadow and Rose (the unfortunate woman in the casket). Just another weird thought.

Even Kai means different things in nature.  Sea (Japanese), willow tree (Navajo), summer (Scot).

I'm not fully onboard with the fact that Ally was drugged during her bathtub soak with Winnie. She had a glass of wine and just looked relaxed to me. Also made me think of her soak in the tub outside in Roanoke;)

But what did Winnie put into the tub?

You don't think it's strange that Ivy made the password 'clowns'?

The kid sees the clowns too though so it isn't just Ally. The two couples saw the clowns too before they were murdered.

Yes, her password is strange but I think it's deliberately trying to throw us off.

  5. We've learned that Ally isn't their only target and the clowns are real.

One of the news reports says a "three fold increase of calls to 911".   So more people in town are getting scared.  Is that chemical being released affecting people's fears?

I don't think Ivy is "in on it" and she will eventually face her own fears.  Which will drive a bigger wedge between Ally and Ivy.

In last episode, Kai rattles off stats about crime rates by immigrants.  Ally challenges him and ask where he got his facts.  He says "Facebook".  This episode Ally says she is responsible for all the positive and negative energy that comes into her life.  The doctor ask "who told you that?"  She answers "Instragram".  Is Mark Zuckerberg the cult leader?

I think IS VERY IMPORTANT. The door had a padlock if you noticed. I have a few thoughts off the top of my head....I think this room may be a tomb of some sort, maybe his parents? Maybe it is the room he is keeping for Ally? Kai's fear is definitely being humiliated, he has said the word a few times now. Did he kill his parents for humiliating him in some sort of way??? Is Ally his sister? Is Ivy his sister, is Winter even his sister? To my knowledge the relationship between Kai and Winter is still unknown.

They have definitely left the relationship between Kai and Winter ambiguous. I guess that's probably for a reason.

I think that something happened in that locked room that humiliated Kai. Some sort of abuse by his parents?  Maybe he's returning the favor to them and they're locked in that room. Can't wait to find out!

So, hallucinating from the beeswax candles....that could be a good possibility. However, that only explains a small party of Ally's batshit craziness, IF the clowns are a hallucination (and I don't think they all are) she has been being drugged long before the candles....and by whom?

I don't think Ally has been hallucinating either.  But why are they targeting her?  Because of her phobias and "fear is the new currency"?

I am still hung up on two things.  In first episode, Chang noted that Hilary lost Michigan by the same count as the number of people in their town.  In the last episode, Harrison says "the hive is the perfect natural community, because every single member is completely committed 100% to a singular task. " I think Ally is important to show how fear changes a person .  But I think the cult has to be bigger than just a few clowns.  How much of the town is involved?

And who would vote for this oddball with the blue hair anyway? Even if his message appeals to you, he's too weird looking for the conservative voters that would agree with his attitudes towards immigrants, etc.

The same people who voted for Cheeto face?

I just assumed that when she burned that candle Ally would get dosed with a hallucinogenic of some kind and go crazy. Crazier.

I like the idea of hallucinogenic. If they have it in bulk supply, they could create mass fear and hysteria.

Do sponges have holes, probably not big enough holes to freak Ally out. Ally seems to like sponges a lot.

I have the Trypophobia and no sponges don't bother me. I'm not sure why. It's a weird thing.

Does anyone have a guess to what the new neighbors have in the blue barrels????

im guessing it's NOT ? honey.

I am not sure if it is related, but did anyone notice Harrison giving Ally a candle.  She specifically says she can't find candles and then moments later, Harrison gives her one and mentions its made from beeswax.  Could there be something sinister in the beeswax and that's what they're storing in the barrels?

  10. Winter says "People are going to believe what they're going to believe.  The trick is figuring out what they want to believe and then giving it to them." When Oz is scared that the clowns will come back.  She says "They won't come back for you".

She seems to be more in charge than they are leading us to believe.
