I didn't initially bring this up but man, it has been bugging me ever since.

VK's reaction when Kelli brought up (in a fairly gentle manner by Kelli standards) her 11lb weight gain will forever bother me.  The way VK said "um hmm" and this reaction came off kind of snotty to me.  Did anyone else get this feeling?  I'm sure it wasn't fun to hear but I doubt most girls would have responded in this manner.  Guess this is due to her familiarity with Kelli.  *shrug*

I am using this quote because the picture shows it well.  Like previous commenters, I also think VK looks much older than she is due to her makeup.  It is way too heavy and she's using the wrong products for her age.  I'm guessing her mom taught her how to apply makeup, (which is awesome that her mom cares enough to be involved in her child's life).  However, she should get tips from someone who knows how to apply makeup and can help her find products suited to her age.

Today is my 70th birthday and the picture here was taken a couple months ago and has not been filtered.  I’ll go up against TK any day.  Secret is good genes, great skincare, and plenty of sunblock.

Happy birthday!  You do look great, and I agree that good genes, sunscreen, and skin care help maintain a youthful appearance.  I would argue that you are not the norm as in people are probably shocked when they hear your age.  Where as my comment was in response to the insinuation that everyone who is your age looks the same age as Tina.  No shade but while you look amazing, Tina does look younger than you.  I doubt she will look as good as you when she is 70 though!

Where I live, she'd look like she was their mother.

Do you have access to the fountain of youth?  If people around you that are 70-80 years old look like Tina, then they need to bottle the source of the youthfulness and sell it!

I know, but the question was when did Tara get a 15! and that was during her first year.

Ohh sorry, I misunderstood your comment.  I thought you meant this is her first year on the team not that she got 15/15 her first year on the team.

I agree, I am not seeing where she looks older than her age.

This would have been Tara's second year on the team.

Totally off topic here - Kim Kardashian was doing her mom's makeup on the show.  She asked her what she wanted and her mom said "perfect skin and nude lip" so maybe it's the trend.  I myself love eye makeup so I tend to do up my eyes and just wear lip balm.  Even though my grandmother always told me to carry my "lipstick and my powder" :)

I agree, I love makeup and I go with my eyes done and a bare lip because otherwise it is too much.  As far as acceptable makeup for the day time, I wear eyeliner and mascara, my shadow choices are lighter than something for evening.  For context, I work in a professional business office where a suit is my daily attire.

Those two examples - Grace and Liz - were both given lots of time and resources (Jay, etc.) to get the weight off.   So they deserved the time but VK doesn’t?

I'm confused by your thought process of VK deserving more time but not Dayton.  I know we all are entitled to our opinions, and maybe I'm the one seeing things jaded.  However, on what planet is VK more DCC ready than Dayton?  Weight is a glaringly obvious issue.  Nobody wants to see a jiggly cheerleader.

Dayton’s memory issues when they made that group of them dance that combo by themselves and w/ no mirror totally convinced me that she needed cut.  She was clueless and was even trying to look to the side of her to figure out what to do.  That would be very risky for them to put someone like that on the squad.    It’s a way bigger problem that someone having bad technique or not being powerful.  A dancer not knowing the dance and trying to watch others is the worst in a live performance - it’s actually even worse than making mistakes as long as there is confidence and performance quality behind the mistakes.

Plus they had just run the dance in their bigger group where she had the mirror - so it’s not like it was a combo they hadn’t done for weeks - the first run should have been enough for her to remember the sequence.  I know Malena was messing up too, but she hasn’t had as much training and she still wasn’t trying to watch others as bad.

I know no one wants to hear this, but Dayton’s belly looked kind of puffy in that scene as well.  I know VK is worse, but it’s not like Dayton has washboard abs either...

Problem with this theory is editing.  Nobody knows what order the events took place in.  For example, the group they showed Dayton in could have been a quick run through.  Then they moved around the order of events.  Also how many times have girls had memory issues or trouble picking up choreo and were given extra chances?  The answer is many!

It's very clear that she had a nose job. No amount of make-up can fix you that much.

That's actually not true.  Makeup can do amazing things if applied properly. I have a pointy nose that is concealed with makeup.  My setting spray is so powerful, I once accidentally rubbed my mascara onto my face and couldn't get it off.  I had to put concealer on it just to run into chik fil a

This is a video I found of VK doing a solo in 2016...there is nothing wrong w/ her dancing - she actually has great extension and good control - especially for her height.   And she has better technique than a lot of the girls who are seen as rock stars on the DCC (namely Madeline).   I think this stuff that she can’t dance and needs favoritism to make the squad is exaggerated.

    Catching up on old posts:

I actually think she looks terrible for someone dancing her whole life.  I see a baby giraffe walking for the first time.  Just my opinion.

But when women of color disproportionately fail that "standard," isn't that a form of racism?

Not if you look at it statistically, like from a literal mathmatical equation.  Ex: math in not correct, just an example.

400 girls try out, 350 are white, 50 are POC.  Due to dancing ability, or lack thereof cuts are made, this continues to training camp where it's clear there are more white women.  Looking at the big picture, it would actually be racially biased to keep women of color just to be diverse.

Bemoaning the lack of diversity in this squad, and saying someone is racist are miles apart.

But it is interesting that they are being interpreted as being synonymous.

But the OP straight up called Kelli a racist.

LMAO!  Honestly it took me months to realize it was routine fan not crouton fan.  I would always think yum, I like croutons too!

Unless you have witnessed her dance in person and have had a verbal conversation with her, which y’all would be pleasantly surprised how kind she is, don’t be so quick to judge based on rumors and short clips of her dancing from the show. Whether she has connections or not, being invited into training camp reflects the quality of a strong trained dancer and poised young woman. DCC wouldn’t invite just anyone to TC. And the fact that she has been in training camp all summer proves she has what it takes! I wouldn’t be so quick to judge a book by its “TV” cover. Rooting for you Victoria!

I think the issue many of us are having is that "DCC" i.e. Kelly and Charlotte do in fact bring "just anyone" to training camp.  Obviously they have to have some skill but we have seen on numerous occasions girls being cut when someone much worse remains on the team.  Additionally I, as well as some others feel that VK staying so long shows nepotism.  Many TCC in the past have stayed past their expiration date, for CMT ratings.

Oh, it is. I'm nearly 50 and I eat really healthy and work out. Due to an injury, I had to quit my workouts for a month, of course that's the month with 4 birthdays, a work party, Memorial Day cookout, etc. I gained 25 lbs in 4 weeks. I've since lost most of it, but it's shocking how quick it goes back on. Especially when you are older (like me) or younger, like Victoria, when your body is still trying to figure itself out.

Also 15 lbs looks different on people. For some 5 lbs isn't noticable.  VK is tall so while idk how much she gained but 15 lbs I plausible.

Are you seriously implying that VK potentially got this far due to blackmail? I think we've officially reached the point of ridiculousness with these rumors/speculations.

No, what I'm saying is that it isn't impossible that Kelly would favor a friend's daughter over a coworkers daughter.  I was using the dirt thing as an extreme example. I also do believe that in general people are more apt to give preferential treatment to their BFF over a coworker's child because they are closer with their BFF's kid.  If Kelly is gushing over Victoria it shows what I'm saying bc with Dayton she says she knows her but doesn't say much else.  I certainly don't recall her saying Dayton this and Dayton that.  Again this is all me backing up why I think the original post is plausible.  Also, I'm not saying this is even intentional on Kelly's part but it doesn't mean that VK isn't getting an unfair advantage.

I didn't watch the first episode last night, nor do I intend to watch it or any of this season.  VK met with Kelli as well as (I'm told) production before the show even began and discussed her storyline, including that she would be guaranteed a spot on the team.  That's just ruined the show for me.  I knew things were done to create drama, but this is too much.  They even discussed adding a lot of stuff to make it sound like VK would be this amazing get for the DCC to try and neutralize the obvious fact that she's only in contention because she's the daughter of Kelli's best friends.  Absolutely disgusted.

    Done.

I didn't watch last night, don't know if I will watch because the VK situation rubs me the wrong way.  I think of the two legacies Dayton was a much better option.  I really like Dayton and the early cut is just gross.

As to the others who said that they wouldn't give VK special treatment if they didn't give it to Cassie or Dayton I respectfully disagree.  First, there is obvious beer googles on Kelly when watching VK.  Also, people generally let their friends in on their dirty little secrets moreso than co-workers.  Tina could have dirt on Kelly.  There is also the part that I highly doubt Shelly or Judy would want their kids to be the worst on the team so they won't even ask for special treatment.  Last, I also feel like Tina would lost it if VK didn't make the team.  They certainly wouldn't have handled it like Dayton and Shelly.  She chose to cut the level headed person vs the volatile person.  Obviously she didn't want to be accused of nepotism.

Plus, who wouldn’t want to take a trip to London on a vacation that just happens to also contain a significant audition? Why the fuss? These women can’t win. If Dayton goes by herself, Shelly gets accused of sending her young daughter overseas, alone, where she can be killed by terrorists. If she goes with her, she’s a helicopter mom who won’t let her daughter grow up... I don’t understand...

Agreed!  IMO this is an example of a great family dynamic

Mmm, maybe.  But we're talking about a 22-year old woman whose mom goes with her to job interviews.  A year is a long time to be away from your mom if you're so sheltered you can't even seek employment by yourself.  So I was surprised at the choice because it's not exactly safe.  I truly hope she grows and learns from the experience.  I'm assuming it's a generational thing and I just don't get it.  I've been working since I turned 15 and at the time I walked to city hall to fill out my working papers myself.  I circled the help wanted ads and got myself every job I ever had.  I don't get helicopter parenting because I wasn't helicopter parented.  Not my jam and that's why I feel the way I do.

She is 20, not 22.  However, they have a wonderful mother daughter relationship and there is nothing wrong with that.  Just because Shelly went to the job interview doesn't mean they need to cut the cord because they are so intertwined.  Maybe Shelly was just being a good mom and supporting her daughter.  Shelly, and the rest of the family are super excited and aren't too worried about Dayton's safety.  I'm not sure if people realize how dangerous the United States can be.
