  1. MS replacing GT as Phyllis to is quite depressing. MS is terrible on all levels, but at least GT provides the heightened drama better.

Honestly, given that MS is now on her way back, why not make it ironically funny. Have her be involved with the new Adam, have her be involved with Kyle. At least make it funny.

  2. The twitter and general social media stuff is interesting. Personally for me, 'stan' has always been something related to being a super fan of a pop star, such as Beyoncé or Rihanna.

A good EP should take social media into consideration, but they should be using that alongside test groups (with participants that are varied) and whatever tools they use as feedback. The show should be in a position where it's running storylines for shock, entertainment and quality value. It shouldn't be about appealing to the loudest and most dominating voices. Alongside that, they should be taking the show's history into consideration and trying to stick to continuation (as much as you can with SORAS and recasts).

  3. There's a part of me that believes that daytime soap opera would mostly be watched by conservative viewers, but then there is another part of me that is aware that sometimes the most controversial left-field storylines can shock, engage & bring in the audiences. I would hope that CBS Daytime sticks with it, ploughs through & sees it through to the end, but I'm not entirely confident that they will.

History has proven that these sort of storylines and couplings can provide strong fan bases and new interest from different types of viewers, but they must stick with it and wave the tide.

  4. Personally speaking, I've seen Mal Young produce two primetime British soap operas that have involved character driven plots, socialist realism & sensationalism. I think he may see GT as Phyllis as a soap opera b!tch with layers who can open up and endure herself to the audience.

In her Daytime Emmy speech, GT mentioned both PB & JT, but there seem to be a specific emphases on PB for helping to introduce her to the workings of Y&R when she started. I don't want to psycho analyse it too close, but GT's husband appears to be quite a bit older than her, and GT didn't seem to be at all uncomfortable while thanking PB for his support.

IMO, GT says all the "right" things about PB publicly, sure. But then is completely transfixed with only being paired with JT and has absolutely no idea (or she doesn't care) what the character of Phyllis would do or say. She plays Phyllis like a teen in love and apparently that's what she wants to do with her "craft."

I get your point about GT & JT, they're relatively close in age.

It's not GT's fault that JFP was looking for someone 35-40 to replace Phyllis when the character was clearly on the mid-forties spectrum. For example, the age difference between GT as Phyllis and MG as Daniel is absolutely ridiculous.

Although, I don't think GT is saying all the rights things regarding PB just for show. She had to play Phyllis awakening from a coma to a marriage with Jack. GT saying she learnt a lot from PB didn't seem like she was saying it just for the sake of it.

She puts herself out there for that type of criticism.

Personally, to me, I find GT to be a younger professional actress who really cares about her craft.

A lot of people on this forum were quick to point out that MS wasn't happy about being back with PB as Phyllis & Jack after Phyllis/Nick, but Gina gave a lot of respect to PB when she gave her acceptance speech as Lead Actress for the Daytime Emmy.

    Physicality?

What I mean about physicality in relation to Billy is that he's gone from being a broad blonde hair blue eyed man to a brown hair brown eyed lean man. Y&R tried to make it explainable through the plastic surgery storyline, but it wasn't convincing enough due to JT's lack of conviction in the role.

I don't think JT is particularly a bad actor, but I don't think he fits the role of Billy at all well.

  8. Personally, I think CG & BJ look fine together, but there is no particular hot spark in their chemistry between them.

GT & JT work well together, but not playing those characters together. Despite the age difference, GT has done a fine job as Phyllis. The issue with JT as Billy is that he not only has physicality stacked against him, but he's also not acting the character traits out well, it doesn't authentically feel like Billy.

  9. Thanking America is very.... something you would do on a high rating primetime show, like when American Idol was in it's peak years? Not something that is on daytime at 3.5 million viewers average a day.

I do like GT, though. Despite the finger pointing, hissing, jaw locking, head tilting & whatever else bad habits she's picked up, she's infinitely better than MS.

  10. Not sure about GH/OLTL, but RH was bland on ATWT, only seeming to exist on contract because he was a legacy character. Also, he had a really bad blonde dye job that made him look even older than he was.

It's incredibly tacky and unprofessional for an actor/actress to post on social media about their audition. Reminds me of when MS had grandiose delusions about getting a part on Scandal.

As I've said elsewhere, I'm fairly fond of GT, and I didn't expect to like her. At first, when she was in viper-mode, I wasn't too taken by her--just figured anything was better than Operating Thetan Stafford. But I enjoy her now. What I don't find is any sense of HAWT in her scenes with JT. Dead-bust to me.

    This has killed me.

Yes, I really like GT. She seems like she cares and actually thinks about what she is doing. She's not constantly acting like she's trying to provide material for a showreel that can get her booked onto a pilot for a prime time slapstick sitcom.

I find the Scientology stuff really interesting. I like Sharon and SC, but I'm saddened to hear that she's a Scientologist. I've checked the courses that she's done online, and it appears she has taken as many as MS and for around about the same length of time.

It's a weird thing about ED.  This show makes you forget she is capable of all kinds of soapy goodness and hilarity... given the material.  (I'm looking back at you, Days.)  But over here on this show she's kind of a disaster. And sorry don't see any particular talent in the actor playing Ravi.  He's not a natural performer.  Another Bell show tradition, come to think of it.

Yes. The fact she can get an Emmy win from Days of Our Lives, but not from all the years she's been as Y&R. Baffling.

I don't like how the actor of Ravi keeps giving off that brooding look since he got rid of the glasses. It's not sexy, he looks more like he's struggling to focus and actually see.

I think Ravi is lovely, a young Jeff Goldblum. But the passion he would have with Phyllis would be off the charts, with Ashley zzz sorry I fell asleep, it will be dull.

I love Ashley and ED, but she looks visibly unimpressed with the story. The only good part of NY was when Traci was sat opposite Ashley drinking from the never ending tea cup.

I preferred it when Phyllis was trying to deter Ravi away from Ashley. I'm not sure if GT was purposefully acting like a cougar trying to be cool and failing miserably (anyone remember that awkward moment where she pretended to be raving in a club to music?), but it seemed to work regardless.
