  1. Interview with Cory Higgins from Meredith's season (International Business Times)

    Quote

“The Bachelor” is a huge franchise, but not everyone becomes huge stars. Each season has breakout contestants who viewers fall in love with and follow. That wasn’t the case for Higgins. While he certainly had the looks to be on the reality show, he didn’t click with Meredith Phillips, the lead in Season 2. Higgins was cut during the first rose ceremony, but it was something he saw coming. Producers showed him an introduction video of Meredith the night before filming.

“You know immediately,” Higgins says of not being attracted to the Phillips. “She was 31, I was 23. I’m not looking for someone [who is] 31 years old at 23 years old.”

According to Higgins, producers told him he was actually cast for a “25-year-old blond cheerleader from San Diego” but that they recast the star of “The Bachelorette” at the last minute. A wife of one of the executive producers reportedly really liked Meredith from Bob Guiney’s season of “The Bachelor.”

“None of us were cast for Meredith,” Higgins says . . .

. . . He went down to the hotel’s gym with a warning from his handler not to talk to anyone. After about a handful of single men walked through the door, someone finally asked if they were all there for the show.

“There were like 10 of us just sitting on the machines and talking, ‘Can you believe it’s this girl?’ ” Higgins says. “I feel bad saying this but it is what it is. We were all in our early to mid-20s and were cast for somebody else. That lined up. That fit the bill that we were cast for somebody else. So, we were like, ‘f--- it. I don’t care at this point.’ ”

  2. It's getting great reviews so I hope I'm able to get tickets. I wish my job would lock down the dates we'll be in NY so I could get them now. I didn't know I wanted a hip hop musical about Alexander Hamilton, but I'm glad we got one.

I don't listen to much hip hop but I really enjoyed Lin-Manuel Miranda's "In the Heights." My sister saw "Hamilton" Off-Broadway and loved it.

Good luck getting tickets! I'm a huge theatre buff and I've learned that no matter how popular and "sold out" a show may be, it never hurts to go to the box office and ask if they have any tix left. When people were going crazy for "The Producers" with Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane, my friend and I made our way to the box office through the huge lottery crowd and asked if there were any tix available for the next week and we actually had a few nights from which to choose. This worked for Wicked and Jersey Boys but not for Book of Mormon.

This is an interesting article by a Playbill intern who entered the Ham4Ham lottery every day for a week:

  3. Thanks for all the links, dcinmb! Love the photos of KK and JR in NYC. They are ridiculously adorable together. I recently introduced a few friends to BatB--we've been marathoning Season One and will try to tackle the season finale and most of Season Two on Sunday--and they tease me about having a crush on JR, but it's more like I have a crush on both of them. Still shocked that the show got a third season but very happy. Too bad it will only be 13 episodes but I figure we're lucky to be getting anything at all!

  4. Thanks for posting the Jay Ryan videos. Wow. You weren't kidding about the second one. I've heard good things about The Legend of the Seeker but the acting in those clips was truly cringeworthy.

I don't know if JR has a set type, but he doesn't seem to have had many serious girlfriends since he's been dating this one off and on since he was 19 years old.  She's significantly older than him and already has two kids in their early to mid-twenties.

Jay Ryan said in an interview that his girlfriend's pregnancy was a complete surprise. He's been together with this woman off and on for more than 13 years, during which time they somehow managed to avoid any "accidents," but the minute he starts working with Kristin Kreuk, "Surprise!!" Riiiiigghht.

  5. Like I said, it's more than likely just wishful thinking on my part.

I'm right there with you, dcinmb!  Thanks for the video.  I hadn't seen it before either.  It was also interesting to re-watch the actual interview.  They even discussed how hard it was going to be to get the audience to forgive Gabe for what he'd done in Season 1.  It's unfortunate the writers didn't have the same concerns.

I watched a few of the linked videos and came across this one of Jay's girlfriend.
