Yup. Madison was basically redeemed, at least in the alternate timeline.

Nan did nothing but pop in. Likewise Misty Day and Zoe and as much as I love her, Madame Laveau. But Madison actually had a role in the storyline.

The Stevie Nix moment was dumb simply because *nothing* came of it, which basically makes my point about a lot of characters being jammed into the story in order to make people go "Oh hey Stevie Nix".

The only reason Madison doesn't fall into this category is because Madison *actually had moments of moving the plot forward* unlike Nan, Stevie Nix, Zoe, Madame Laveau, Marsh, Violet, and the whole fucking nonsense of Miss Venable's super creepy bomb shelter adventures in whipping gay men bloody.

My point is that they had everyone return even in some minimal way just because they had been part of the Coven. Look at the character of Zoe she returned but really had no meaning this season. Why on earth did they give Madison the meaningful role that character is like a stuck up person in a high school.

Which is likely a problem of the whole Apocalypse season - instead focusing on a clever story, they were focused on who could appear from prior seasons and what references could be shoehorned in so the audience would be "Oh look! Nan! In Hell!" or "It's Marsh! In the hotel!"

Did Nan appearing add anything to the season?

Basically everyone from the Coven came back so it made sense for her to come back. Did having Madison come back add anything to the season either. Or better did having Stevie Nixx on add anything to the season either.

Controversial opinion for the day: I can't stand Nan, I didn't need to see her back.  Can't stand the character.  Can't stand the actress.  I think she's terrible.  I don't understand the fuss.

Well she was part of the Coven and that storyline. Of course she would be back.

I don't think Nan was terrible but I thought the character was implausible and I can't believe that while Madison and Madame LaLaurie didn't feel shy about the open racism, that neither of them ever made a crack. I am perhaps cynical but I also found it unlikely that the hot Christian stud teen boy next door preferred the girl with Downs Syndrome.

It was all a little too After School Special - especially with Madame Lalaurie having no issue with pointed racism but having not one word to say about someone she would have considered a family curse at best in her own time? No "retard" or "mongloid" or "defective half wit" remarks? I don't *need* to hear that kind of language but I thought it was implausible we didn't hear it, if that makes sense?

They did not include the mongoloid and retard remarks  in the script because that is cutting too low. I don't remember the name of the black actress but I am sure she could deal more with racist stuff and dialogue being in the script over the gal with down syndrome. And yes actually the series did have remarks about the retardation thing. Not in the Coven series but in Murder House. Constance refers to her daughter at least once as a mongoloid. I am sure the actress with down syndrome must be pretty confident to have not made a fuss about that kind of dialogue in the script since it made it to the show.

Yeah, the "Moira can't leave because her bones are buried on the property" rule is specific only to Moira and does not apply to the other ghosts whose bodies are presumably buried in different places.

But why does that rule only apply to moira

I just.... for the sake of education, mutation doesn't work like that.

The horses were normal horses that had been irradiated so they were probably sick from radiation sickness and cancer. Whatever was at the bottom of the cliff was not a human being that had mutated - radiation caused mutations are just going to cause cancer and tumors not extra limbs or spider powers or whatever the fuck that thing was. In 18 months, nothing has had time to birth out a monstrosity due to the radiation.

The gross guys that Brock killed and Brock himself were really a better example.

I'm taking the show too seriously but no, whatever was eating the horses was not a human being mutated into a monster.

I have a question related to the mutations. Did anyone else see the creepy season teaser that was very grainy with static sounds and the sound of the radiation detector? The trailer showed split second images of the wasteland after the bomb. Anyway I swear they showed split seconds of a mutated person covered with sores and tumors and I thought the person was holding a baby. Well in the second episode I believe Michael tells someone he came across a mutated woman with two mutated babies. She pleaded for him to end their pain but he would not.

So you're that person in horror movies who's responsible for watching over the serial killer who dismembered 200 people and who finally is caught and all tied up but then sweet talks you into freeing him. ;-D

I thought it was slightly sad too but I think it makes it more interesting. At this point Michael had not realized who he was and accepted Satan as his savior and father. Yes he was a bad kid but you could say still had some innocence to him. People are wondering too why a car took him out so easily and the reason for that too is that he had not accepted Satan as his savior and father and had not come into his supernatural powers to regenerate himself.

  8. I have something random. How do you guys feel about the age spurt thing?? Well actually it's the only thing they can do to explain the time span. However...... I think it would have been cooler if Michael did the physical age spurt at a different moment. I think it would have been creepier if he was still in his child body during the flashbacks of him in the murder house being taken care of there. Constance did not necessarily need the age spurt thing to send her over the edge to commit suicide(hence why Michael went to live there). I would have liked to see child Michael in action a little other than the scene with the nanny. Anyway I think it would have been cool if Michael did the age spurt thing the morning after the satanic mass. He goes through the initiation and accepts his position and the next morning is when the physical change happens. However I think maybe the show itself  and people would feel a  little uncomfortable with a child acting in a scene like the satanic mass. It is a little weird but I think it would have made the story better if the physical change came later.

  9. I actually was okay with this episode and kind of see where they were going with the church stuff. If you want to talk about useless and silly how come more people are not talking about the stupidity of Madison's and mistys version of hell???? Especially Madison's. Come on hell is supposed to be pure torment and misery and what Madison got was just pure annoyance. Madison went to Heck not Hell. And let's not forget the bullshit of wasting time with Stevie Mixx songs????  Anyway let me get back to my point. I guess I am the only one that got a kick out of what they were doing with the satanic church stuff. And the mockery parallel of Michael going off by himself and being tempted just like Jesus. I liked how the satanic church was essentially set up like a Christian church and the people more or less looked like ordinary people. I thought it was amusing that the Satanist in this episode were into pot lucks and were throwing food in Michaels face the same way Christians would. Also I don't  mind Michael being kind of whiny and in doubt instead of a stereotypical anti Christ.

Maybe Sarah Paulson directing helped as well?

Oh did she direct this episode?? I was going to ask if someone else directed murder house because it seemed different. Better honestly than the other episodes this season. More serious.

Didn't the Coven season all but state outright that everyone ends up in Hell eventually?

Other than delphine lalauries hell all other personal hells have been silly. The thing about the frog and working bad retail??? Come on any version of he'll would be pure torture.

  11. Ok this is very random and out of nowhere. But how funny would it be to see the reaction on the face of Vinnie's mom if she saw someone opening up a can of spaghettios.???(because her love of real cooking of course). If I knew that family i would have to do that as a joke.

    Madison's hell was pretty hilarious.

Give me more Queenie.  It was funny watching her pass the time playing cards with James March in complete boredom.  And then telling Madison how she tried to talk Langdon out of rescuing her.

It was fun seeing the Coven house again with the theme music, as well as Taisa Farmiga.

B.D. Wong, yes!  Although this role isn't as much fun as his stint on Gotham, he is just great in anything he does.

I was hating on this season after the first two episodes, but this 180 in the past two shows has me liking it and wanting more.

Obviously lady gaga and Dennis o hare were not available probably for the Cortez scene. I would guess in pretend ahs world the ghosts were angry at March so they were not around. Remember we learned in Murder House ghosts can make other ghosts just go away from their presence if they don't want them around. I also wonder why March was hanging out in that simple room and not his fancy suite?? I guess it was Queenies room and she would only play with him there.

For a couple seconds I thought they had a much younger actor to play him as a teenager then realized it was him.  I wonder if we'll find out how he ended up under Kathy Bate's care?

I am guessing we might get this info hopefully in the episode where we return to the Harmons. A flashback episode presumably. Jessica Lange is supposed to return for a episode.

  14. Was anyone else surprised that the real human Miss Meade(if that was her human name)was a Satanist or should I have seen that coming? Not surprised after the discovery but I pictured she would have just been a warm understanding nanny or something. Actually what would have been creepier is if she was a normal non Satanist but at some point there would have been another flashback(after she witnesses something Michael does. She perceives as miraculous) where she pledges her alliance to him and his Father. I could have seen her getting on her knees taking his hand saying something  I Hereby Give Thyself and Thy Soul to You for Eternity.  Anyway to me that would have been creepier and more creative. I am not saying that way they wrote human Miss Meade is terrible it's just not super creative. I am fine with it I don't think it's bad or anything.

Oh yeah, I would watch the crap out of that! Honestly, do they expect me to root against Billy Porter and BD Wong? Yeah, your gonna have to do a lot to get me on that bandwagon, Ryan! They were awesome, I am so ready for all of this. I will get on the bandwagon of this being the best episode of the season, and maybe the best episode in a long time! I was surprised to see March and the Hotel get brought in, and that was awesome. Especially March, who is one of my favorite Evan Peters characters.

Speaking of, dang, you know Michael is for real if March is warning Queenie to beware! Michael is super fascinating, and I am loving the actor. He really does come across as much younger this week, and he is super charismatic in every time line. He is creepy, but also can play sympathetic and likable enough that you can buy that people dont immediately see him as the anti Christ.

Its great seeing the Coven cast, and expanding its mythology. Zoe as a confident teacher rocking a fabulous pants-suite, Cordelia being in charge, and Myrtle being Myrtle is all kinds of great. I even liked checking in on Queenie, and seeing Madison's version of Hell, even though I was pretty bored of them by the end of their season. Although, I still dont like the boys vs girls stuff. I didnt like it in Coven, and I dont like it here. Like with many Ryan Murphy projects, its hard to tell if its commentary, or just his attempts at being Woke.

I mean, as much as I like some girl power, Myrtle, Cordelia, and Zoe basically just rolled their eyes at the Warlocks even calling them or bringing this up, and acted ridiculously condescending about even the idea of them being on equal playing field as the women. Being a jerk to people who are lower than you on the social ladder is a dick move, male or female. So, is that the commentary? That any group with unchecked power and another group to lord it over will give into some form of bigotry? Showing how ridiculous it is when men use biology to justify their power over woman? Or is this just the weirdly defined Girl Power 90s feminism that Ryan Murphy needs to indulge in where women are awesome and men suck? Or, its just an excuse for the Warlocks to be desperate enough to ignore the obvious warning signs of this devil child, and instead focusing on them finally getting one up on the witches. I mean, if Cordelia had just met the kid, or spoken with them as equals (even if they really do have less magic than women because of some biological whatever), then maybe they could have could have caught Michael before this whole apocalypse even started. I mean, for someone who says how she cares about witches and warlocks, she apparently was cool with outing them all to the public  without even a text as a heads up, their school was burned to the ground, and now all the boys have to live in a creepy dungeon while the girls keep their pretty mansion. I can kind of see why they're not thrilled with the current system.

I mean, we all know what an awesome feminist Ryan Muphy is! What kind of self proclaimed feminist wouldn't repeatedly hire a person arrested for abusing another one of your cast members!?

Cheyenne Jackson should clearly wear eyeliner more often.

Is it weird though I like the creepy dungeon more than the house?

Ugh, I'm sensing the same thing re: Mallory. Of course Murphy would have to take the weakest actor of the season and make her the key to the whole story.  There's obviously something special about her, and we're no doubt going to see a squaring off of good and evil/men and women. Like, we get it. Murphy is an ally. An ally that also gives work to an abuser. He can miss me with his support. The only thing that will save the season for me is if Mallory turns out to be evil somehow and Cordelia and the Witches are defeated. Sorry not sorry, but I hated how smug they were at that council meeting. I think we (meaning women) were supposed to be all "Yaaaassss girl!" during that scene but I thought it made the witches seem insecure and intimidated more than anything else.

Honestly I don't like the whole boys on one side and girls on the other. With the antichrist on the boys side in flashbacks. Stupid.

THis episode....was so.damn.good! I literally was watching every single minute of it. The best episode in YEARS.

Everyone was on point. We got another crossover with Hotel. My girl Madison was living a very HELLISH life!

All of this just makes me crave an actual Coven series! Of course it would do best if they set it in its own universe and had completely new characters but keep with this tone and the overall idea!

No offense meant by my statement but do you really like Madison or just kind of find her funny because she is such a bitch? I am not knocking the actress I don't know her from a hole in the ground but the character of Madison acts like a  cartoon stuck up high school girl.

If it featured BD Wong, Jackson, Porter and Briones, I would be down for a series about The Hawthorne School for Boys.

I just read an interview with Cody Fern. He said that Michael in last night's episode was supposed to be 15 which mean he's 18 in the present day Outpost scenes. Fern is 31.  He could play all three ages convincingly.

They did a good job making him look like a teen. The scene with him at that table with Kathy bates character he even looked somehow smaller and thinner. Younger looking overall than his look in "present" time. Looked like a teenager.

So, Ryan, so we're just going to kill everyone and press a giant reset button on the show so far and who was fucking Evan Peters in the rubber suit and who was on the ceiling and how/when the hell Joan Collins got in it is never going to be explained?  All righty, then.  Sure.  Thanks.

The witches-what the fuck ever.  Bored now.  Give me Jessica Lange or give me an empty Season Pass slot on my DVR.

Also, yes, red delicious apples suck.   And who the fuck can successfully bob for apples by catching the stem and not by biting into it?  I know high priced gay hustlers who couldn't pull that off.

I believe to answer the rubber suit question it was nobody. No human anyway my guess is its a demon or evil spirit. Or maybe it's as simple as an illusion Michael created to trick him. As far as red apples i love red apples. When they are sweet and juicy.?

Nice of them to take the “stalker” label off that poor gal, Vanessa. Of course Jenny has to act like Pauly may get killed. She’s jealous because she doesn’t have any real fans. Pauly is a legit, respected Dj and it makes sense that he has super fans. I’m glad he finally recognized that and welcomed Vanessa. The fans keep them going and it irritates me when entertainers don’t appreciate it.

Maybe the the whole stalker thing was a very long joke that Pauly planned. Maybe Vanessa was a friend of his and they set the whole thing up. Would not put that past him.

  22. Pauly seems like a interesting case from a psychological perspective. I don't think out of all the seasons and episodes he has been the center or caused any drama. He has said something though I believe on the current show that makes me think he does not really think  much of females. Yes it's obvious he is attracted to them but he said something that makes me wonder. I believe it was the episode when everyone was trying to find him a good gal. Pauly made a comment. These aren't the exact words but it was something about finding it hard to even find a gal he even wants to talk to for a few minutes. We know that all the girls we have seen at least on the show have been from the clubs. The fact that he sounded like it's unbearable to even talk to these girls says something that he does not really respect them. Either that or he has been extremely unlucky and all the gals he finds at clubs are big bitches and this has soured him.
