    Depends on the man's age.

My husband lived in both then Leningrad and Kyiv.  He grew up in Kyiv and said when he was a child, one never saw women at football (soccer) games, this in a stadium of over 60,000 people.  He said it was expected women would be home with their children, and if there was a woman there, men literally gasped.

Maybe back then it was, who knows. From your earlier post, I guess it was around late 1950s-early 1960? At that time it was common in America to call a woman "toots" ☺

Any woman who dined alone was considered a hooker.  When I told him I wanted to invite another Russian Lady in her 30s to lunch, he told me that “Ludmilla might be shocked because women in Russia didn’t go out to restaurants without male companions.”

I can assure you that it's not true and never was ☺

He's the first foreign fiance to EVER mention bringing savings with him

Anfisa also mentioned she had savings and was living on them after she kicked Jorge out.

I could go down the foreign potential mates across this franchise and really most aren't all that great looking when you think of how much it costs and how much it takes to get them over here.    Granted, about 99% of them are better looking than the ones that are spending the money on them.  But Luis is a mystery to me.

But it's not all about looks, or is it? What about their personalities?

In her mind, she probably feared she would not ever see her bio dad again, and - for obvious reasons - she was blaming the man who told her he was taking over the father role in her life.

This might be so true - it's amazing how little children can interpret what we say to them, and we don't even know. For example, when Luis started the "Spanish lesson" by asking her "Do you know what this color is called in Spanish?", I felt she the girl thought she is being tested and that she was somehow failing for not knowing the answer.

Nicole doesnt have azan living with her but encourages her daughter to call him daddy, which is so so heart breaking to me. not fair to that sweet little girl.

May probably doesn't know what "daddy" means. She probably thinks it's his name.

I searched this quickly.  It looks like you can marry someone else in the US, but you cannot petition for a change in status based upon that marriage.  She would need to leave the US before the 90 days was up and then apply for a new visa based upon the marriage and it is not guaranteed that it would be approved.

True, but if you think about it, she'd need to find a brand new fiance in 3 months. What kind of a man would it be? Someone who'd marry a woman he met less than 3 months ago, probably knowing that she came here for another man. Would this kind of adventurous person be a good husband?

You play with a boiled sheep head for two weeks, it will make you sick when you eat it.

I was mostly talking about Nicole's relationship with veggies ☺

  9. I once saw a British documentary show about a boy who didn't eat anything but fries. His parents didn't know how to change his eating habit (he was about 4-5 years old). Turned out that when he was 2, he got meningitis, and he was very ill for a long time during the time when his eating habits were supposed to be forming. As a result, all food seemed scary and foreign to him. When the parents tried to make him eat normal food, he would freak out.

The expert started by placing bowls of mystery goo in front of the parents and asking them to eat it. They understandably couldn't. He then explained that normal food is like this mystery stuff for their son. He said that they were making a mistake by not letting him play with the food and by forcing him to eat normally. He encouraged the child to touch the food, smell it, rearrange it and do all the things that kids aren't supposed to do. The parents did this for a few weeks and he started eating.

My stepmom, who is strictly kosher, served tongue for Thanksgiving one year cuz she couldn't find a kosher turkey.  Mr Tostandon & I nibbled on the sides then stopped & ate on the way home.

You should have put some horseradish on it, that's what makes it ☺

Josh's friend was rude, but accurate when he said she chose America, not Josh. Still, it was rude to say that.

I would still find a silver lining for Josh. Yes, she chose America, but in America, she picked Josh, even though there probably were other candidates.

  12. Some say that Andrey's attitude towards women is typical Eastern European, but I think that most American men wouldn't be too keen on their wives clubbing until 4 am without them.

When I look at Andrey and Elizabeth, the word that comes to mind for both of them is "gopnik".

Ninety days is long enough for Aika to find herself a new dumb American

You can't marry another person on a K1. But she can potentially find someone, fly back and reenter again in a few years. But then she'd probably have to say goodbye to her dream of having a kid.

Can I PM you to ask some questions about Russian driver licensing?

Of course, but some things might have changed since I've come to the US that I may not know about. But I will try my best to give you answers.

Which brings me to another question:  When we travel outside the country, we sometimes rent cars on our American license and drive in other countries.  I know (from personal experience) that at least Mexican and Dutch licenses are valid for driving in the U.S.  Why are the K-1 folks apparently not permitted to drive?

I think they can drive as long as they have a valid driving license which the US deems valid. In my case it was an international drivers license which I got in Russia (they can issue it to you if you have a Russian license without additional tests). When I came here, I went to the DMV and asked them if it's valid and they said yes.

3girls, Y e s !!   I mentioned that last week when we first saw David Spain --   Those are all excellent and pertinent questions.  The show has been careful not to touch on that at all; usually it'd come up in conversation.   We do know Luis is a bartender, but what about  the pouting dude in Dublin, who is also in his late 20s ?    I'm kind of p.o.'d that the show is keeping those pretty significant facts off-stage, because it is a huge element of each story, actually.

("Fun fact":   A long time ago I first discovered Television Without Pity by way of an article in Newsweek that said it was an internet resource where the comments were easily tracked, and pretty intelligent, and the producers of show actually looked at the site to see what their viewers were thinking.  So, if that is still true:  Producers:  It's important - what do these guys do for a living??

Fun fact: we are never told what the fiancees do for a living unless they are fitness trainers (Jesse, Devar, Pedro, Azan, Evelin from Colombia - dance teacher).

Almost all young single men in Morocco want to leave Morocco. They desperately pile onto rickety boats to try to leave Morocco.

Where do they go to on thise boats?

    They make good wine there.
