  1. I don’t think she meant it as manipulative at all. But the end result, regardless of intent, is that he has been given or has taken on an added responsibility that could affect his game. I don’t fault her, I just didn’t like that it happened.
  2. I had the opposite reaction. Joe came out to play his game and practically on day one someone identifies his big heart and puts a responsibility on him that he didn’t sign up for. He could have said no, but i think it was clear to Eva that he isn’t the type to do that. It seems unfair to him. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s terrific and I love his loyalty and values, but I didn’t like that it happened.
  3. I actually know another African-American woman who is a teacher from Philadelphia who’s name is Mariah Young. Thank God I knew that she was several years older than 28 or I would’ve been really disconcerted by how much her looks have changed since I last saw her!
  4. My 18 year old son weighs about 115 and is 5’3”ish.
  5. I’ve been watching old seasons with my kids and we just finish this one yesterday. I know this is reaching far in the past but I had a question about the reunion. Kat (Cat?) was hilariously inarticulate when Jeff asked about her comment that who wants to date someone who didn’t even make the merge. She replied talking about how there was more of her now up top or something that didn’t make a lot of sense but we were all pretty sure she meant to point out that she got a boob job. Yes? Does anyone remember?
  6. That makes perfect sense, that she is a friend and he would feel better with her there. But I still think that her role therefore would be to be as a friend and not as a nurse. Stand next to him, hold his hand, reassure him from her professional perspective that the paid medics are doing everything they can. But they have a process for these things that does not include her and she inserted herself in it.
  7. It kind of annoyed me that Celi stepped in. If they hadn’t had a nurse there, the medics would’ve certainly been capable of doing their job. It seem to me that she was trying to run the show and not let the medics do what they were there to do.
  8. I've been watching this season with my kids and had forgotten how great it was and how many of the contestants became true Survivor characters after their first time on this season. We're all struck by how much more sophisticated the challenges were. My kids had never even seen a Survivor auction before! I wonder why they never brought back Nate. I could definitely see him being the type they bring back. What I'm struck by though is the *meanness* of the Raro tribe. They are just awful to Penner, with the name calling and utter disdain. I've always been a Penner fan, and watching him be so isolated and taunted is pretty rough. (Also rough - seeing his wife Stacy happy and healthy, knowing what is coming for her health years later). It's also nice seeing the root of Yul and Penner's friendship.
  9. I'm new to the show - just finished episode 9, season 1. I'm enjoying it but find it so depressing and sad. I find I can't wait to watch each episode but then get so depressed during each episode at how they talk past each other, how painfully they interact. the acting is incredible. If you want a similar series, watch Srugim, about modern orthodox singles in Israel. I ADORED that show!
  10. Also your sequencing is wrong. He didn’t touch her thigh “minutes after being told” he was getting ejected. He touched it before, and THEN, because of that, was ejected.
  11. On the week the Kellee got booted and Varner started tweeting about the whole thing, taking Dan's side, he also said repeatedly that he had not watched the rest of the season. In other words, he was basing his opinion off of ONE episode, ignoring all of the previous ones that showed Dan touching. Also any woman - any person - knows the difference between someone grabbing their leg to steady themselves in an accident and that person touching their leg inappropriately.
  12. I’m from Center City. Definitely say Philly 😉 But on topic, I loved this episode. I watch it with my 13 and 16 year old boys and they usually favor the jocks but this time they were *all about Janet*! She’s awesome.
  13. I watch the show with my 13 and 15 year old boys who tend to favor the younger male players (Wendell is their favorite). But they both think Janet is awesome and the best player there right now. They were impressed when she said she managed 130 lifeguards, awestruck when she made fire, and completely won over with the grappling hook. (Jack is their second favorite though, so they haven’t strayed too far from trend). But I love that they loved Janet!
  14. That’s my issue with it. I watch TV to escape the current situation so watching a show about it is painful. But I still watch because I love these characters!
  15. I’m shocked she’s 31! I truly thought she was a young kid on the episode.
