  1. While my wife and I were up late on a school night watching this, the weirdest thing happened. The episode suddenly stopped at the exact moment that Elliot was opening the taxi cab door, as is common with this show. My wife and I looked at each other and said "wow, they're getting more and more abrupt with the show endings" and went to sleep. Then today I jump on here, read TYRELL and realize we missed like the last 5 minutes

My wife also noticed that Tyrell's voice was noticeably different, she even quickly looked up the episode on IMDB to see if it was actually the same actor

Still loving this show, don't care much for any of the actor's sexual preferences/orientations/identities though (although I do have sort of a man crush on Mr malek). Whiterose is intriguing as f*** and played wonderfully. Gives me the chills

  2. He said he controlled the exit nodes, meaning all of them. You'd have to control essentially all of them to get any kind of usfull information. If anybody could break TOR in this way it would be the NSA, with their nearly limited resources, not one hacker. They clearly wrote that in to tell us what a l33t h4x0r Elliot is, but they waaaaay overdid it. I wouldn't have even minded so much if there hadn't been an easy explaination for the hack. The guy clearly didn't air-gap his cofe shops wifi and the child porn servers, to hide the traffic. If stuff isn't air-gapped you can use the public part to break into the private part, as we have recently seen with planes and cars. At which point you don't even have to mess with TOR, since you are at the source.

Also I think it is lazy writing to bring out the child-porn-hammer to show how evil a character is and how righteous our hero is for bringing them to justice. That might just be a personal gripe, but I expect more subtlety from modern shows.

Those two things turned me off of the show for a few weeks, until I decided to give it another chance because everybody was saying it was amazing.

You can actually limit the number of nodes used, selecting from a given list even. Regardless, nothing in the show is extremely far from the truth, not as far as we've seen from other depictions in the past. I get your point though

  3. They are also playing fast and loose with the hacking since episode one (really, Elliot controls the TOR-network, didn't realise god had another son). I raged for a while, then I got over it.

But I have to say it did make it much more infuriating that this show almost gets stuff right, but not quite. I wouldn't have raged so much if hacking was basically magic, like it is in most shows. Is it the same with the mental health aspect?

I'm pretty sure he said he controlled an exit node

  4. I guess the Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn/Gmail pages are faked for a number of reasons. Probably saying the name of these products is different from showing logos and site designs, there are probably royalties for the usage of each aspect of the brand

People would actually try to visit the pages they see in the show too lol.I can't remember the movie that suggested audiences were dumb because they actually tried to call the characters in the movies, that's why all the numbers start with 555 but that was a funny line

  5. Hi guys, new to the boards. Loving this show though as well as the analysis that you guys provide :)

Id like for the story to tell us that Mr Robot was alive this whole time plotting his revenge on evil corp. Elliot's mom kept repeating that his dad didn't do anything to fight evil corp during that short flash back that took place at a bus stop a couple episodes back. I think I recall Elliot mentioning that too before HCS pushed him over.

Would be pretty bad ass of him to come back from the dead with this huge plan, then again the whole leukemia thing would have to be explained away too hmm..
