  1. I have a feeling that GGB is here because someone in casting watched Mozart in the Jungle and decided Arthur had a touch of Rodrigo to his personality. Otherwise, this makes no sense whatsoever.

The actress who played Miranda was phenomenal, I loved this episode to bits.

Anyone feeling the anxiety as the main characters don't think of putting on a mask or even tying a shirt on their faces, even in freaking Malaysia where everyone is already doing that due to a world-ending virus? Sure, let's duct tape our air vents and continue to walk around bare faced for no reason at all...

Kurt: "we've been sitting next to each other for the last three years, and I don't think I know you at all."

Well, maybe watching some weak ass faux prestige dramas like Ray Donovan over salads isn't quite the ultimate soulmate bonding experience you thought it was, Kurt.

Lol, but I did feel bad for him, she was lying to him and wanted to get back together for shady reasons.

I actually wouldn't mind a Kurt too much. With a little adjustment he could be the ideal boyfriend for me. I'd happily come in from an evening of sports with my friends and be served up a healthy dinner with some Netflix and chill. If he wanted to discuss his grocery savings for a minute or two, that'd be a small price to pay. I bet he cleans up after dinner too.

Hee, I had a very strange moment during that scene, as I sat at our dinner table, eating our healthy dinner, with my husband. I don't think the issue is what he was doing but that she was unhappy with that and with him, and apparently was not actually interested in the whole eating healthy thing he'd started. Also, it seems like she didn't like the show they were watching. We only watch shows we both like, it's totally different 😅

The Mega and Micro phone where just different size phones, but I kind of get the appeal behind the drone phone. You can turn a phone into a drone and use it to do whatever people do with drones. Spy on the neighbors, I guess? I would not want one, but people are into drones, so I am sure some people would want a phone/drone combo.

Husband said it would be great for me, who constantly lose my phone if I can have it fly back to me heh. But I can see the biggest use being using it for the photo/video functions as a drone - drone selfies, drone event videos, all with your phone. This could be huge.

  5. I'm surprised at how much I loved this little series, it was so nice!

I agree with everyone who thinks that the Jolene thing was very trope-y, they should make up for that by giving us a spinnoff with Jolene as the main character, she seemed really compelling to me.

It's possible that I missed it because I watched all 9 episodes in one shot. But did the season show

    a. Any name Alpha females besides Mond

    b. Any name Beta males (I think some were part of the sex hunt, and there was a guy at Lenina's lab late in the season)

    c. Any named Delta characters or explanation of what that designation means

    a. I think Helm was an alpha female, no? The one who makes the feelies...

    b. Nope. Also, if they were so flexi on gender preference, where was the guy on guy sex?

    c. No, and in the last episode, when CJack is talking to Bernie he almost tells us! "You made Betas for your pleasures, gammas to serve you, and Deltas to..." and then doesn't finish his sentence! So maybe in season 2 we'll find out...

Bernard was right that John doesn't take responsibility for anything... But a lot of what happened has me scratching my head. Why was Frannie being reconditioned? And why is she the one with the rod in the end? Why did the Epislons stop attacking when Indra was turned off from the network? Was it controlling them during their revolution? I'm also a little baffled by John's reasoning besides the usual "I'm pissed so I'll just stir up some shit" that seems to be his default since getting to New London.

Also, did anyone catch this moment:

I think the Goya's 3rd of may painting had appeared earlier in the show (maybe in Mustafa's mini-art museum?). After reading more about it, it seems to be interpreted as showing the horrors of war, no matter the cause. But I'm still a bit confused about what the show is really trying to say... what is the message?

To be honest, I didn't think CeCe was a typical mean girl right from the start. The way she allowed herself to be so easily set up by Kyle. That whole situation, the way she was so embarrassed when Tyler basically looked at her like she was crazy in front of his friends, made it clear how vulnerable she is. And I didn't think she was out to hurt Annie with the party. I think she was fishing to know for sure what the status was between her and Tyler.

I also like her! She had me at "I don't do awkward"

  9. The scene where they set the fire had me laughing out loud, it was so dumb. If only Lexie had set the fire, without the other 2 kids around, then maybe. The three of them out of the blue? No, that wasn't built up to AT ALL.

Yes but truthfully Izzy did destroy the family photo by giving the finger. There is no way they could send that out and I can understand Elena's anger and frustration especially since this was the second time the photo was taken. That said, cutting her daughter out was obviously not much better than sending it with the F you finger. I am not sure really what she could have done here.

She could have cut out the hand flipping people off... it's not like the photo was well framed to begin with, so not much of a difference.

This episode had me agreeing with Izzy and Mia: I really hate Elena. What she did to Pearl was so vicious... I hope Pacey divorces her. And that Izzy goes to live with him.

The Keds thing was absurd, I really hate it when people bring up the argument "if you want to live in this house, you have to do everything a say". Children don't have a choice in that, and it DOESN'T mean they can't have any kind of decision making or personality. They get to be individuals. It was petty. She is a terrible mom to Izzy. They provide for her physically, but look up the experiment with the fuzzy mom and the monkey to see how important having your mother's love is - more important than almost anything else. Pearl may have had it hard in her upbriging, and Mia is messed up in several ways but she always loved her child. Although it seems like Pacey loves her, he doesn't actually protect her from Elena, so it's not enough. If he did, maybe she wouldn't feel so alone.

  11. I absolutely loved this show, I thought it was like an Indian teenaged Jane the virgin.
Team Paxtom here, I thought Ben was really cruel to her early in the season, and I didn't feel like he really managed to make up for it later.

Loved the therapist, the cousin, the plotlines, the jokes, the heart. I really hope Corona doesn't ruin this one.

Also, he revealed that his family had been involved in reality TV before and his dad is now wary of participating due to the stringent contracts.

    Ah that explains things somewhat.

Also apparently there was way more of their dramatic almost-wedding that we didn't get to see: https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2020/03/9531926/giannina-damian-wedding-dress-love-is-blind-scenes-cut

The problem wasn't that Diamond cursed at Carlton. The problem was that the insult she threw at him was that he was waiting for (or should be waiting for) the "next dick." That is an insult that many bisexual people have expressed is demeaning and minimizing. It feeds into the assumption that bi people can't make up their minds or be faithful or find love with one gender if they've ever been with another.

This is not me taking up for Carlton. I'm not in any way. Just trying to explain why what she said is not so innocuous in the LGBTQ+ community. And I do think Diamond really regrets saying it.

Pretty sure she said *she* was bouncing to the next dick, as per the Beyonce lyrics she quoted,

"Who the fuck do you think I is?
You ain't married to no average bitch, boy
You can watch my fat ass twist, boy
As I bounce to the next dick, boy"

    Or did I miss something?

I'm sure it's tough. People really turned on Kelly once enough slipped out for them to piece together that she wasn't waiting to get to know Kenny or whatever but was actually just not attracted to him and probably dates the wrong kind of guy. The internet made her into "that girl" and for one of the most boring couples, she was suddenly getting a lot of negative attention. Kenny being in an apparently great relationship seems to reinforce that the problem was with her though, of course, she shouldn't have forced herself to be with someone she wasn't attracted to. Someone being nice doesn't mean he's right for you.

Yes, I think she still wishes she had been attracted to him, hence the tears. If it's really true that she only goes after the wrong guys, some serious investment in therapy might be more helpful than going on a reality show... she seems lonely.

I mean Callie blew up her relationship with Jamie for a completely ridiculous reason.

I'm not clear on how this made any sense (or maybe it didn't) in this particular instance, but I think they were not going to work out in the long run. We've got a "The Way we Were" situation where Jamie is all "people are more important than their principles" and Callie is pretty much in the "People ARE their principles" side of the argument. Also, I think Gael is a much better fit for where she is in her life right now. I find them cute together.

I'm still giddy that Dennis and Davia are FINALLY a thing. I wish the scene had been a bit longer, but I guess there wasn't much to say after he confessed to loving her, being advised to not trust his feelings, and immediately saying "I think that's BS". Short, to the point, and very much earned. Well done show.

Dear Marianna, if you are going to sleep with your boss, can you maybe not do it at your workplace? I mean, I get it, look at him, and he's all sweet and your bf is into your roomate, but at least find another location...

I doubt Isabella actually slept with Raj and am not looking forward to how that's gonna playout... whatever.

I like Alice and her new love interest. Can they get rid of Sumi and Lindsay? They're really annoying.

I’m curious as to what all went on in the pods that we were not shown. The People Magazine article shows that the producers allowed them to send things to each other like food and Lincoln logs and even decorated a pod for a guy as a surprise from a girl.  Anyone else surprised that some couple didn’t get freaky while talking to each other? I wonder what other requests the contestants made for the producers in the pods?

It's so weird that those things didn't make it into the episodes... it would've been good tv. The getting freaky thing: the permanent video camera might have been a deterrent, lol.

All in all she is just icky and I want Mark to run away so he's not the dumpee cause this pair is not gonna work out at all.

I find it a little off putting how much he's into her despite: 1) all the red flags that he's definetly second choice, 2) How not interesting or charming she is. I'm really confused as to why he's so into her.

She had earned some points with me when she shot down Barnett's bs speech, but then she lost them all as she continues to pine after him. I think part of the reason she hasn't dumped Mark yet is so she can stay in the hotel and be around Barnett... it's really not a good look.

I FF scenes with Kelly and her guy, they're really boring.

Dennis's support group cautioning him not to confuse gratitude for romantic love was a real kick in the conscience. I wish he would tell Davia, or Alice, or SOMEONE, that he's still sorting things out. It makes sense. The dude is ten minutes from a suicide attempt. Davia has been pushing him to be in a much different place than he actually is. Alice, too, but I can't remember if Alice knows the whole story of what's been going on with him. She should still mind her own business, but it's not quite as bad if she thinks he's just shy or something vs understanding how extremely depressed he's been.

Yes, but for my own viewing pleasure, these two should get together already! Hee, this latest obstacle to their romance actually makes plot sense, so I guess we're probably gonna have to wait until season 3. But I like these two so much!

Isabella bugs me a LOT, she's been there like a week and is very much on purpose flirting with Raj. I mean if you're a good person who suddenly finds themselves crushing on your new roomate's bf you do make an effort to either uncrush or find new living arrangements. She seems to making an effort to put herself between him and Mariana instead... the only good think about this, is that I really like Mariana with her boss, so there's a higher likelihood of that happening now.

The engagement ring plot was such a cliché, saw the resolution coming a mile away.

As others have commented this feels strongly like a retcon, or like original Benny was body snatched.  The latter makes more sense to me.  Maybe Wilkis killed original Benny with the blow to the head, the AIs found the body, and are taking advantage of his role in Jo's circle.

Either that or we have a situation like Leo in Humans, where he was perhaps at death's door and got turned into a cyborg as a last resort....

In both the books and the show there is a class of people called econo-people. The women are referred to as Econo-wives. In the books Handmaid's wear red, wives wear blue, Martha's wear green, and Econo-women wear all three colors because they serve all three roles.

Do you remember in season 2 when June was escaping? There was a black man that picked her up from the Boston Globe. That guy was an Econo person. His wife was an Econo woman.

Basically Gilead forces Econo women to live the lives they lived in the pre 1940s. They are basically forced out of the paid workforce.

The impression I've gotten is it would be an exaggeration to say the US is at war with Gilead. from what we've been shown of the US government in Anchorage they are more comparable to the government of Charles de Gaulle during world War II. they have been totally forced out of their country and are largely powerless. I think the resistance in US is largely independent from the government in Anchorage. They are like the French Resistance fighting the Vichy government/Nazi Germany.

The few times we've seen the US government they seem to have lost all military capabilities. To me this is the only logical way Gilead could exist. If you think about it killing every person in Congress wouldn't put you in control of the northeast of the United States. In the real world the US has continuation of government plans that include passing power to governors of states. the only plausible explanation of how the sons of Jacob established control over the US after attacking Congress is that they had cooperation within the US Military. I've always believed the only plausible explanation of Gilead is that it was largely a military coup that founded it. Eg. If the sons of Jacob had destroyed Congress without Military support then the hundreds of thousands of US troops stationed overseas would have been brought back to liberate the Northeast from them.

Also the resistance seems to lie entirely on guerrilla/asymmetric warfare tactics. Eg. Suicide bombings, creating improvised explosives but using former high school chemistry teachers.

To me this indicates that they don't have many conventional military assets. Eg. Main battle tanks, fighter jets, bombers, artillery, etc.

Also also the US government in Anchorage has never attempted to recruit a military force among the American refugees.

Wait, this has not been made clear in the books or show? It seems pretty obvious to me that any coup of that scale requires military backing. Now the military may be divided, but they certainly had to have some serious pretty high up support to get to where they are.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. I don't think he sees it as him lacking as a writer, but that's what it is, IMO. And the problem is him not recognizing that--if he struggled with seeing a way forward with the characters and relationships he had, that's why you really put in the work to figure it out, and you collaborate with your other writers to do that. But he was too rigid and single-minded in where he wanted to take Veronica that he lost sight of what was good about his own show (and where he wants to take Veronica doesn't seem to be what most fans are interested in, anyway).

With where Veronica was at the beginning of the season and what was set up on screen, it would make more sense for Veronica to actually grow, and still have her existing relationships in whatever form they evolve into, rather than what he did. And there was no growth at all (just deciding to marry Logan and having one tacked on therapy scene certainly doesn't count).

Whether he gets another season or not, I don't know, but he squandered something really cool in the devoted fanbase he had (after 15 years!) and the show he had created (which includes all its characters and relationships and Neptune itself, not just Veronica). For no good reason.

I totally agree. Just came back to this forum to see if hindsight and new opinions could make me wanna watch the show again. Nope, still bitter. Was there no one to tell him this was a terrible idea? Geez...

And btw, I find it ironic that he decided to kill a character in order to write the better story lines he wants to write, but did so with a terrible story line that only makes sense if you squint and wave away a bunch of inconsistencies. Sure, that'll make us confident ya know what ya doing Rob.
