  1. I didn't like the episode at all, Jackson and April separating made me sad, Alex and Jo scenes really don't make me want to watch, as well as Owen and Amelia scenes.  That said Meredith scenes were great, and I love the sisterly love, plus I am interested in just the one new male intern, the rest can go.

  2. I find the possibility of MerAlex relationship very compelling, friends for years, no romantic intentions, pure friendship that bonds them, however, love may grow out of it,it does happen in real life. A very interesting mature lovestory that could develop there although I do feel sorry for Jo.

I agree, it does have to be handled right though.  Not with the Derek/Alex comparisons.  Don't feel too bad for Jo, she is adorable and young, her and Stephanie can have some fun! (new male interns)

  3. I would love to see Mike or Mama C win.  Mike has shown himself to be a decent man, despite his old fashion views on women.  He has morals.  I cannot wait to see Dan gone and Rodney is a baby.  Both should be out.  This hasn't been my favorite season, but Im hoping at least the good guy wins out.

  4. I really think the show needs to give up on the new interns, and introduce new characters as established doctors.  When the show started, MAGIC were who we identified with.  We fell in love with the characters and rooted for them to thrive as doctors.   At this point, we are now identifying with the attendings, who have thrived in their profession, and we've watched all the bumps along the way.  The new doctors - no matter how they imitate the writing for the original five - are just bumbling idiots who don't know what the hell they're doing.  After watching this group for years, they are who most of us relate to.  It's an us versus them thing.  The interns are them, and the established doctors we've followed for years are us.

I didn't mention this last week, but I saw something different in the scene with Amelia gliding into the room holding baby Ellis.  This was my take:  The last time Amelia held a baby she was close to, it was her baby and it was dying in her arms.  I saw a lot of melancholy and "what if" on her face, along with the bitter sweet joy of holding her dead brother's baby.  So I saw her holding that baby, while thinking that this one was healthy, and was going to survive.

When I was fourteen, my nine year old cousin died when her boat capsized.  When they finally found her body, she had somehow gotten her wrist entangled in a rope, and was caught underneath the boat. My mom tells me that I was convinced that if I'd been there, I would have looked under the boat.  Of course that's ridiculous, many of my cousins, as well as aunts, uncles, and strangers searched and couldn't find her.  It's not a logical thought, but I don't think it's uncommon for Amelia to have wanted to at least try to help him.

Here's my fanwank.  In most hospitals, thirty minutes is the established call time.  That means when you're called in, thirty minutes (or less) later, you're in scrubs about to cut into the patient.  When Derek and Meredith lived together in the house, I chose to believe that the one on called slept in an on call room, and the other stayed with the kids.  Now that she's a single parent, Meredith has to either live closer to the hospital, or spend x number of days a week away from her kids for twenty-four hour chunks of time, and sleeping at the hospital.  Moving closer is a sensible decision.

My heart just melted when Alex said this.  Alex is very much like Meredith.  He had a fucked up childhood, and as an adult he has learned that it's his friends that are his true family.  This was very difficult for Derek to accept, but he did get it eventually, and stopped trying to come between Meredith and her closest friends, and didn't seem to feel much jealousy about the situation.  And when I think about it, Derek wasn't that big a family person when it comes to the family he was born into.  We rarely heard about his sisters and mother, and he easily accepted that Meredith just couldn't stand his sisters.  He chose Meredith over his original family.

This didn't bother me.  April is a trauma surgeon.  Trauma surgeons, more than anybody, have to think on their feet and fly by the seat of their pants.  Maggie sees the heart, Amelia sees the brain, Callie sees bones, and Meredith sees abdominal organs.  Trauma surgeons have to consider all of these at once.

I find Catherine hard to take a lot of the time.  But I love to see how she flusters Jackson, and I enjoy her relationship with April.  When Catherine is at her worst, I remind myself that Catherine did everything that Ellis did, and she did it while black.  I can't even imagine what that woman had to go through to get where she is.

    Yes to all of this!

  5. I would like to see Alex and Meredith get together. I can see a story line where they start to realize they have feelings for each other......

The show used to be about relationships. For me, altho I adore Derick, Meredith and Cristina were the heart of the show, their relationship with each other, their relationships with the others and everyone's love interests.

I miss seeing them just be people. How many times were we in Meredith's house, the bar and even the cafeteria, seeing them in their personal lives? And there was still time for the hospital drama. Now it is mostly all hospital drama. We might get a minute here and there of anyone's personal life.

I have watched my DVD's many times, especially the early years. I do FF through most of the patients stories as I don't care that much for the patients stories. Now it is hardly worth watching an episode over as it would be mostly FF.

I am calling that "You're my home" is about Alex realizing Meredith or Jo is his home.  I am not a Jo and Alex fan, I never bought the relationship and the show hasn't been as good in the past few years.  But Dereks death made me watch, and I feel the writers are giving us great stories, with medical drama.  Jo needs her own story, not just to be Alex's gf.  She is young and deserves to have fun.  Alex and Meredith get each other and have great chemistry.

  6. This is true CED9, I forget it's just tv because for years Greys has been my escape. It sucks when the writers mess up the characters. Honestly I always wonder why I go back. I can't even watch Scandal anymore. After the second season it was ruined. The problem is Shonda wants a long running show rather than a quality storyline. :(

  7. I having been hanging on by a thread. Last nights show did not do it for me. I didn't find the funny parts funny, I couldn't listen to Meredith's lame excuse for where she was, and Amelia and Owen seemed too obvious. I don't know. I really don't. Jo was super annoying and Alex is being ruined along w Meredith. They do have too many cast members and I feel everything on the show has become repetitive. I really wish for closure on the main characters so I can let go...

  8. I really don't like this promo. Please don't tell me the storyline for Alex and Jo is a threesome?!! I can barely handle the scenes w Jo as it is. Alex deserves better than this junk. And Meredith cheating or evening them "teasing" a cheat is absurd. This show is so unbelievable at times.

  9. Ok I stick around for acting like Jesse's and Sarah's, the last two episodes their scenes had me. I fast forward anytime Jo comes on. She just is not interesting. Unlike many, I don't care to see more of Alex and her. I am actually liking Maggie, she actually seems quite well adjusted.

I long for old Greys MAGIC... Really I do. The chemistry the show once had is only there in short glimpses now. But I keep watching for my favourites like Callie, Alex, and now Jackson and April.

I wonder if they are planning on seperating Jackson and April after this? Using a plot that has them taking the whole situation too hard and turning away from each other. I hope not :(

Owen and Amelia are whatever. I guess he needs something since Christina's gone. In the end it will be him and Christine. They need more men in the hospital for sure.

  10. I can't agree. I think Izzie was there for him a lot. She was the first person to see him as something other than a jerk. The storyline with her and George was not good, but I think since the start both of them (Izzie and Alex) had strong feelings for each other. That's the charm, it developed, over seasons.

Again, I like Jo. Just not with Alex. She needs her own story and Alex has already had his.

  11. Re-watching seasons 1-5 I don't see Izzie that way. I find her and Alex growing together, not perfect but endearing. Jo and Alex really don't have that. Her character (Jo) was made for him and it's a bit too unbelievable. The crew back then (seasons 1-5) had a lot of chemistry. I just don't find that w the newer seasons. I was thinking it's because of the constant drama w the main characters, that is why I think they need to move on.

I am an Izzie fan, I liked her and her flaws. I liked all the old crew... I would like their storylines wrapped up. A new crew to take over. I really like Amelia as well as Greys sister, Japril, Jo and Stephanie--these characters have a lot of potential if the original mains step back.

People will always watch Greys, but the show is doing a dis-service to continue some of the old characters now that most of them are gone it just feels wrong having a few stragglers. Bailey and the chief are the exceptions.

  12. I agree. I hope season 12 is the last for all the originals. Their storylines are too recycled. Meridith and Derek should go off and practice medicine in DC and have a cameo every so often. Alex and Jo don't work for me, I think she needs her own development. Alex needs to reunite w Izzy and leave to live w her.

I also don't like Owen and Amelia, is it just me or should they not intro a couple of new hot McDreamy and McSteamies? I think the characters that were original to the cast have (Alex/Derek) need to be wrapped. I never really like Owen, but he can stay if they wish.

  13. I don't like the storyline w Alex and Jo. It all feels a bit too contrived. I however liked them as friends. Sort of a throwback to Izzie and George. Jo is young and fresh I think she deserves a new love interest. Alex should be w Izzie. It's how it's been written from the start they grew together, with kinks in the path--Jo and him seem wrong to me? I don't know it just seems all too neat.
