    White Chicken Chili Recipe

    Sep 8, 2018 | Recipes | 15

It’s gettin’ close to chili season here in Arkansas and we’ve already made our first batch of white chicken chili! This is a recipe from our Aunt Bobye that we had a lot growing up. You can make this one on the stove just in time for supper, or ahead of time in the slow cooker (with the slightly altered recipe) with dry beans if you desire! White Chicken Chili goes great with Fancy Cornbread!

    Ingredients:

2 yellow onions (peeled and diced)

12 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (boiled, save liquid!)

8 (15.5 oz.) cans great northern beans (drained), or 4 cups dry beans (+ 12 cups water)

    1 T chili powder

    1 T cumin

    3 T. worcestershire sauce

    2 T. oregano

3 garlic cloves (minced or pressed)

1 (10 oz.) can diced tomatoes and green chilies (or Rotel)

    salt to taste

    pepper to taste

chicken boullion seasoning (optional, to taste)

    Directions:

For stovetop: Place diced onions and chicken breasts in pot. Cover completely with water and bring to boil. Once boiling, turn heat down to simmer and cook for 20-40 minutes (depending on if they are thawed or frozen), or until cooked all the way through. Remove chicken and shred or dice, then return chicken to pot and add rest of ingredients. Simmer for about 30 min. then serve with cheese, sour cream and tortilla chips or cornbread!

For slow cooker with dry beans: Rinse dry beans and check for rocks. Place in slow cooker with 12 cups water. Add all other ingredients EXCEPT chicken and cook on high for 6-8 hours, or on low 10-12 hours. About an hour before serving, place chicken breasts in separate pot on stove. Cover completely with water and bring to boil. When water starts to boil, turn heat down to simmer and cook for 20-40 minutes (depending on if breasts are thawed or frozen), or until cooked all the way through. Remove chicken, and shred or dice. Add chicken to slow cooker with as much reserved broth as will fit and let simmer about 30 min. Serve with cheese, sour cream and tortilla chips or cornbread!

1 can of Rotel and 1 T chili powder doesn't seem nearly enough for 12 chicken breasts

I think it's the jumbo Costco jar of Knorr Chicken Bouillon with Spanish/English labeling.

This is what I thought too.  At my Walmart, the Spanish labeled Knorr Chicken Bouillon is in the "Mexican" aisle and it is cheaper than the same sized English labeled Knorr in the soup aisle.

Someone should also remind Cathy that it was Derelict's CHOICE to live there and accept its lack of amenities. She should also be reminded that they lived in a gated, armed compound.

But bottom line, no one put a gun to Derelict's head and forced him to live there.

Does Derelict consider it his choice to live there or was he following God's calling?  If he believes God called him to go there, then is Miss Cathy questioning God's will?

  4. Another Aldi's lover here.  We've done blind taste tests with the kids comparing Aldi's to name brands.  The only name brand item they preferred were potato chips.  My kids are now all adults, there are some food items they won't eat if they aren't from Aldi's - cheese, bacon, jelly, spaghetti sauce.  Your money goes a long way at Aldi's.

I had Bell's Palsy years ago, and left me with my eyes not matching, although they aren't nearly as bad as Derick's.  But I think he is too young to have suffered from that.  It probably is because of nerve damage from the surgery.  I had major surgery on my back three years ago which left large areas of my arm numb.  They said it would come back slowly.  Well, some of the nerves have come back but there is still a lot of numbness there.

I have Bell's Palsy and I look far worse than Derick (except my teeth line up!).  People always assume I had a stroke.  Mine is a result of surgery done over 20 years ago when I was still in my 30's, so age probably has nothing to do with it.  In my case it has never gotten any better than it was to begin with.

Looking at it again -- I think it's the hair combed down and the thick/full beard; rather than a cooler hairstyle before and a scruff beard which suited his face more. Add to that the shirt he's wearing and the fact that he's lost his tan - and it looks like he's trying to (or has been asked to) tone it down and "fit in" with the Duggar men.

His eyes aren't smiling, his expression looks fake and that doesn't help it.

  7. I've had two minor surgeries with conscious sedation.  The first one I slept through the whole thing, the other one I alternated being asleep and being awake.  I have to say though that when I was awake I was talking and joking with the doctors and nurses.  I felt no pain, no fear, nothing uncomfortable at all.  Both times I felt the effect of the shot within seconds, it starts out feeling like you've had about four drinks more than you should have.  Hope it all goes well for you.

Re: Derick's looks. His two front middle teeth have shifted SO FAR from midline. I have no idea how, but man, it's weird.

His lips are off center from his nose, his teeth are off center from his lips.  It's like the lower part of his face is shifting, one section at a time, each part shifting just a little farther over.
