I haven't seen this case on PC yet (I have a ton of episodes on the DVR to catch up on), but I remember it from JJ. I was pretty indifferent about the daughter. Her story didn't seem to add up and it just seemed off. The father was such a dirtbag, however, I end up hoping that JJ would give her everything she asked for. He really pissed me off in the hallterview when he said something to the effect of "sometimes you gotta remind 'em who's in charge" as if he had won the case and the daughter had been taught a lesson about respect, when in fact the case had simply been dismissed. I found myself wishing that he'd end up being run down by a fast moving bus as he exited the studio.

The thing that really pissed me off about that case was the hallterview. Scumbag douchey father says something like "you gotta remind 'em who's in charge sometimes." That's what he took away from the whole thing. He actually thought that JJ had ruled in his favor instead of dismissing the daughter's case (and there is a big difference, asshat.) I wish she had found a way to give the poor girl something.

I literally get goosebumps just thinking about that scene. The look of sheer terror on Leo's face. John Spencer was amazing as Leo in so many ways.

I'm a big Charlie fan, too! It was so touching when Jed was leaving the White House to go to the press conference in the middle of a storm without his overcoat and Charlie took his coat off when he saw the President wasn't wearing one. I have to admit that I got a little choked up over the gesture.

I have students in my class who come in exhausted everyday because they're up all night watching TV in their rooms. When I mention it to their parents the response is that they can't do anything about the kids turning the TV on after everyone else is asleep. There really is an easy fix for it - take the fucking TV out of their rooms.
My daughter is 23 and my son is 17 and neither one of them has ever had a TV in their rooms. They also were not allowed to have a computer (desk or lap top), hand held video game, or cell phone in there. All electronics stay in the family room overnight. TV time is family time (even though it meant I spent many years watching Nickelodian and the Disney Channel). I would record (now DVR) things that I wanted to watch that weren't appropriate for them and just watch them another time. I guess once you've let your spawn go on a midnight rampage to vandalize the property of whomever has disrespected you everything else is trivial.

I had a problem with JJ telling the videographer that her work basically sucked. It brought to mind the saying "I don't know art, but I know what I like." There are probably people (I'm not one of them) who would love that style. It wasn't a matter of "getting what you pay for" because it was cheap. I'm sure that the grooms had formal tastings with their caterer for the food and for the wedding cake, scheduled fittings for their clothes, and submitted very detailed playlists for the entertainment. If they signed a contract with someone without asking to see a portfolio of their work, they have no one to blame but themselves.

I totally agree when JJ and MM dismiss cases because the dumbass plaintiff forgot to bring the evidence and I give both of them mental high fives because it seems like they might be trying to teach said dumbasses a lesson by not awarding them anything, but I still hate when an obvious low life user gets to walk away without paying anything back. It just reinforces the dirtbag's behavior.

Circling back to the catering case: I agree that the plaintiff's expectations vs. her budget were way out of whack. The problem is that all of her communication with him happened over the phone, so we'll never know if he agreed to everything she requested and then did it his own way or if he ever said that her demands wouldn't fit into the budget she had established. As a business person, the caterer should insist that all of that communication is done through email or that conversations are followed up with confirmation emails.
I understand JJ's "you ate the steak" comparison, but in the real world it's much more difficult to turn away services like DJs and caterers when you have an event happening right now and tons of people there for it. I'm sure that caterers and the like fall all over themselves for celebrity clients, but the rest of us are sort of stuck with whatever happens, no matter what has been requested or agreed upon.

I hate when the judges give a douchey plaintiff an out. Re: the dumbass defendant who claimed that the plaintiff that she hit in a crosswalk actually jumped on to her car to scam her. One of the judges told her that they understood it was a stressful time for her because no one wants to hurt another person so that's the song the defendant sang in the hallterview, never acknowledging all of the accusations she had made against the plaintiff during her testimony.

Parents at least partially attribute a child's success to that child's unique gifts. The opposite is true: a child's problems/difficulties are not solely the result of the child's surroundings. You want your child to succeed? Don't get in the way of teachers who are trying to tell you that your child isn't perfect. You've probably said the same thing to your child at some point - why the surprise that someone is agreeing with you? Why are so many teachers having discipline problems in classrooms? Because the more experienced teachers are leaving the profession. Why should anyone go to school for a job where the students don't have to listen, the parents side with the students, and the administration hides behind desks and fancy degrees with little relevance to the day-to-day job? Thirty students have one teacher - one teacher has thirty students. The odds are against the teacher, and only get worse with comments like the above. Go read Lord of the Flies - it sounds like that "charter school" is the city-equivalent!
I'm just sorry I can't like this post more than once. I call parents when their sweet dumplings act up and it's not bullshit. I don't have time for bullshit. I have 40 mins to eat lunch, use the bathroom, and make any necessary phone calls, so I'm not wasting one precious minute on bullshit. The problem is that what should be a 5 min call turns into a 20 min call because the parents always want to know why I'm "picking on" their perfect little angel and then try to explain how it's everyone's fault but their perfect little angel's. Anyone who thinks that qualifies as "bullshit" seriously has their head up their own ass.

I was watching live by then and I heard it on the morning news. I was devastated. I also loved him back on LA Law. The scene in the woods was gut wrenching, but it was also upsetting when the Democrat party bigwigs were trying to convince him to take over Santos' campaign (at Ellie's wedding, I think) and he said "You guys are just trying to kill me." I know it was a throw away humorous line when they wrote it, but knowing that we were nearly to the point in filming when he actually died felt like a punch to the gut. After that I was oddly looking forward to the episode that would be centered around his funeral, hoping for flashback clips and a retrospective. I was so disappointed by the way they handled it.

Real life car purchase story. My husband is looking at a used Toyota 4 runner that is posted for sale online. Made an appointment with the owner to take it for a test drive to our mechanic to check it out. Guy texts my husband this morning saying that someone else is coming to look at the veehickle and it might not be available long. Being students of JJ's and MM's law schools, we wish him luck with the meeting and tell him to let us know if the truck is still available after the weekend (because only a moron would rush right over to proceed to purchase it because the guy is "pressuring" us). Just heard back from the seller who claims that he's a mechanic and that he can assure us that the veehickle is in excellent condition and would be happy to talk to our mechanic on the phone. We tell him that he's more than welcome to call our mechanic and that will help him to know better what to check out when we bring the truck to him for an inspection (because only a moron would claim "we trusted hiiiimmmmmm" because he claims to be a mechanic). I'm just finding it hilarious that this douche is trying all of the cliched stunts that we see dumbass litigants fall for all the time and he's shocked that it's not working.

Pits suck, but the majority of other rescue dogs are awesome.
Pits don't suck. Some of the dumbasses that own them do. Just as the "nurses" and "teachers" that we see as litigants don't reflect real life nurses and teachers, these assholes don't accurately reflect those of us that have rescued pit bulls. Dogs will be dogs, no matter what the breed. Owners need to be responsible.
Sidenote - I was bitten by one of those little yappy dogs that are actually rats that bark one night while I was walking. I was in the street and the moron that owned the little demon opened his front door without any regard for keeping the dog inside. The little fucker ran into the street and when I, like the idiot I sometimes am, tried to help him catch the little bastard it bit me on the finger. The skin wasn't broken and no real harm was done, but I let that jackwagon know that if it ever happened again I would personally kick his sorry ass. At least he was too smart to sue me for "harassment".

So frustrating that people are not being taught that they are responsible for their actions and the consequences of them. I'm an elementary school teacher, and I hear all the time how it's not the fault of my precious little snowflake who just happens to shit rainbows and glitter. What's equally upsetting to me is how surprised people are when someone takes responsibility for their actions or for events that might have even been beyond their control.
During a recent storm a small tree of mine fell on my neighbor's fence. He came out right away to cut it so that it didn't cause any further damage by remaining on the fence (mitigating the damage!). I immediately offered to reimburse him for the gas that his chainsaw needed and to replace the blade if necessary, as well as pay for the damage to the fence. Turned out that the damage was really minimal in the light of day and he just fixed it himself. I had a similar result when my car door slammed into someone else's in a parking lot because of a wind gust. I took pictures (because cell phones aren't just for sending nasty pictures - MM) and left a note with my name and phone number. They called (and were really surprised that it was an accurate number and that I was taking responsibility). Turns out they were able to buff it out and it wasn't a big deal. They asked me for nothing, not even the cost of buffing it. People shouldn't need to be astonished when someone handles a situation with a sense of responsibility. That should be the norm. I hate the MM contributed to the "so what, I damaged your property" mentality.

I'm doing a slow, leisurely rewatch and I got to "Take This Sabbath Day". The whole character of Kenny, Joey's sign language interpreter infuriates me. He seems like a good guy and the actor does a good job, but I can't stand how he stands either next to or slightly behind Joey, facing the person with whom she is having a conversation, forcing her to pivot her head back and forth. I teach in a school with a hearing impaired class, and the interpreters always stand slightly behind the person with whom the hearing impaired person is conversing so that they can maintain directional eye contact. Joey is talking with POTUS and has to keep turning her head to see the interpreter. grrrrrrr.

Agreed with the "ate the steak" analogy only working one way. I'm also becoming a little frustrated with her take on animal cases (bites, custody, whatever). Granted, many of the plaintiffs and defendants in these cases are asshats, but I find it annoying that if a litigant makes any reference to their pet being like their child JJ shuts them down and says that's ridiculous, but if there's one little hint that a person might have been careless in any way in the slightest, JJ lectures them about their pets being like their children. Pick a stance and stick with it, please.
