I think both speak to how out of touch they are with ordinary people and how they regard themselves. Phillip didn't want to send the royal jet because Diana was no longer part of the family. To be fair, it seemed to me that Diana's brother should have been the one to go to Paris to retrieve her body, not her ex-husband. I get that she's the mother of his children but she's also his ex, and she's buried on the Spencer property, not with the royal family.

At the time of Diana's death, her brother was in Cape Town, South Africa, which means he would have had nearly a 12 hour flight just to get to Paris. As others mentioned, her two sisters did go with Charles.  As she was the mother of a future king, I think the combination of her sisters and Charles flying to Paris to retrieve her body was the right decision.  Her brother wouldn't have been able to get there in a reasonable amount of time.

Oh, for those who didn’t get the mermen joke about falling to his death, that was a callback to Oliver having disastrously staged “Splash!” on Broadway, and instead one of his stars went “Splat!” What are the odds that he’s had 2–nearly 3–splats?

It wasn't just one person, it was 12 mermen who dove, one after another, down onto the stage (and none of them died).

Didn't Mabel say in Season 1 that she is wearing her aunt's clothes? Or maybe the aunt buys her outfits. I do wonder how Mabel eats and pays for anything though.

I'm not sure about Season 1, but in Season 2, when she meets Alice, Alice says she wants Mabel's dress.  Mabel replies, "you'd like my aunt's closet, because that's where I got this dress from."

Wasn't the thing that Ben had such a weakness for cookies that he couldn't stop eating them? So I assume he continued to eat them in the months before his first "death."

Of course he could have eaten cookies at any time.  But the only time we SAW cookies (and that is what I believe Shapeshifter is referring to in the comments I quoted, such as " Maybe Ben went back to the cookies and binge-ate them all? ") was at the table read.  My post was in response to that, because the only time we actually saw him with cookies was at the table read, which was months before he "died" onstage.

Long story short, cookies probably are going to be an issue at some point, since they emphasized how he is about cookies, but I don't recall seeing any cookies around or hearing them mentioned (yet, anyway) on the day he "died" onstage. Only at the table read months earlier.

    Solving the case:
When Ben came back from being dead the first time, he said the doctors thought it was something he ate.
The bit of cookie? Perhaps not enough to kill him with immediate medical attention? Maybe a known allergy?
Do we know who provided the cookies?

Of course, the person who may have tried to kill him the first time may not be the person who killed him the second time.

Maybe Ben went back to the cookies and binge-ate them all?

I thought the only time they actually showed cookies, and we saw Ben take a bite, was the table read scene, which was months prior to his collapse on stage.  And in that scene, when it was asked where the cookies were from, it was Howard who answered. Of course I may have missed seeing cookies another time, but that is the only time I remember seeing cookies.

  6. I had mentioned previously that a house in our neighborhood was being filmed for an episode of House Hunters; the recent Tampa episode is the one that included it.  The house was the second house with the fenced pool.  It's interesting to me that they didn't show all of the house.  There is a lovely guest suite on the first floor with it's own bathroom with large walk-in shower, plus a dining room, and a half bath that were never mentioned or shown, nor was the second floor laundry and additional full bath. In regards to crossing the street to the park, this is a gated community of 120 homes with very little traffic.  As for gators, they are a fact of life in Florida, and you just have to assume that there are gators in any body of water you see. That said, I would never have a pool here in Florida without having it completely screened in to keep critters out. And, I was surprised at the price asked for this house, especially since this house has very few upgrades from the standard builder finishes. But prices have really skyrocketed since we started building our house here 2+ years ago. Another drawback to this particular house plan is that there is no front porch or anything covering the front steps, which means if you get something delivered and you're not home, the packages are very visible from the street, plus will get wet if it rains.

How much $ are they giving you to "spruce up" your yard?

    Ha.  Not a cent.

To answer my own question, the current owners of the house being featured said they were told this episode should air in about 4 months.

  8. Does anyone know how long it is between filming and the episode airing? We just found out that House Hunters will be filming next week at a house down the block from us. Our HOA sent out an email about it and asked us to be sure to have our front yards spruced up just in case they show our homes.

I thought it was clear (from dialog) that Kreps texted them to get out of the building. No? Was it Poppy who texted them? That actually would have been a better plan WRT coordinating the murder and the frame-up, but, in the end, Poppy and Kreps were not criminal masterminds after all.

Poppy did text them.  She tells them, "I just wanted to make a good podcast.  I just wanted Cinda to notice me. But things went wrong right from the start. Right from that night that I texted you to get out of the building and you came back to your apartment."

    Unanswered:

    • What was the significance of Bunny's dying word "savage" or "Savage" or "passage"?
    • What was the significance of Bunny's dying word "14"?

Mabel has said that coming back into her apartment and finding Bunny was a blur. She does not distinctly remember what happened after she walked in and saw Bunny.  IMO, that means it's not 100% certain she is correctly remembering what Bunny said. 14 could be confused with other words, such as forging. I think what Bunny said may be a key to all this, but at the same time, what she actually said and what Mabel currently remembers her saying may not be the same thing.

  11. My recollection is that the show is supposed to take place somewhere in the Houston region.

Behold a bagel shop in Houston, founded in 1975.

    https://www.nybagelsandcoffee.com/about

"Our father, Eugene "Chick" Kornhaber, became a bagel baker in New York after the end of WWII. Dad and his brother Bernie, and their wives, Leyla and Joyce, moved to Philadelphia and opened Brooklyn Bagels in 1967. In 1975, Dad and Mom and their son, Jay, opened New York Bagels here in Houston, and his brother-in-law, Ed, and sister, Robyn, came to join them soon after. We opened the deli in 1981, and the rest is history. We have been serving authentic, New York-style bagels and deli meals to several generations of the Houston community for almost 40 years! Today, we are thrilled to bring a new generation into our family of owners, with Michael Saghian stepping in to fill Jay's shoes. Together, Michael and Ed look forward to many more years of great eats and community involvement. The Bagel Shop Bakery is proud to serve as an HKA-certified facility."

I'm not going to continue to go on about this, but Florida has always had a large Jewish population, and I'm sure Ohio also had more of a Jewish presence during that time than East Texas, which would make finding fresh bagels in those places more common.  My question was how readily available they would be in a town in East Texas at the timeIn a big city in that area, maybe it would have been more common, but in a small-ish town or city probably a lot less common until the 2000s.  I'm willing to consider that near a college or in a college town they might have been more available, though.

We didn't make the bagels, they were supplied to us frozen by one of our major bakery suppliers and then we proofed and baked them. One of only a couple of items that we did not make from scratch.  And no, we did not have much of a Jewish presence in our town in central Ohio (I cannot recall knowing a single Jewish person there), nor did the bagels come from a Jewish supplier.  If bagels were available to bakeries in my area in 1985, it is not a stretch to imagine them in Texas in the early 1990s. Lenders Bagels were almost certainly in freezer cases across the country by that point, given that Lender's was purchased in 1984 by Kraft.

They were very entertaining, even though I'm sooo tired of that song.

I love Nicolina's voice, but ye gods, those pants made her look like Tweedledum (or -dee). Christian is way too 'runny' and his voice generally sounds really strained or forced to me, unpleasant to listen to.

That Kelsie/MIss USA pairing sucked. Kelsie has such a poignant, plaintive little voice and-whether she did it on purpose or not- Miss USA was really overpowering vocally. She did seem nice, though.

Interesting that this 'Jordan' dude dropped from the sky to sing with Kennedi-we never saw him before, right? He looked freakishly like Cade ('Mr. Gabby Barrett') from S16.

Betty was Miss America, not Miss USA.  Per her Instagram stories that she filmed during Hollywood week (but couldn't post until now), she was sick leading up to the duets.  She won the talent portion at Miss America with an opera performance, so she knows how to belt out songs.  From watching her over the years, she is very talented but really overdoes it on the belting part, probably because of the opera training. She is better suited for Broadway or Disney vocals than a recording career, IMO. I don't see her going much further at this point. Kudos to her for the patience and help she gave to Kelsie; wish more people had been considerate of their partners (I'm looking at you, Scarlet.)

Part of me (the cynical part), wonders if Aretha herself gave AI directions to not send her 15 year granddaughter to Hollywood this season w/ a "gentleman's agreement" that she'll absolutely be guaranteed a spot in the Top 24 (or whatever number they take to the live episodes) in S21.

Aretha died in 2018, so... Probably not.

I like Adam, but this is the first time it seemed (to me) like he was auditioning for future Food Network opportunities, such as when he made a big show of chugging his champagne. His cake looked nice, but based on the judges comments I expected Sabrina to win even while knowing she wouldn't. They said she was the one who best met the challenge and they liked her decorating other than the missed opportunity for a black middle tier. Plus Nancy claimed to have gotten no raspberries. There were many more critical comments about both of the others. Adam is supremely talented but seemed to have been pre-ordained the winner from the jump.

As for Nancy and the raspberries, I swear they cut to her and her plate after she made that comment, and there was a smear of raspberry on her plate.

  16. When my husband (who is a Caltech engineering grad and science geek) and I were first dating, we played Hangman. By first dating, I mean probably the second date.  He noticed that when it was my turn to guess a word, I had a habit of calling all the vowels right at the start, so he decided to pick a word that did not have a-e-i-o-u in it.  He was greatly amused by my mystified look after I chose the last of the vowels.  The word he was using? Syzygy.

  17. I'm married to a Caltech grad, and I can tell you there is a healthy rivalry between Caltech and MIT.  The premise of Sheldon tweaking Howard about his degree being from MIT isn't really that out of line.  While I don't think most grads of MIT or Caltech take it to the extremes Sheldon does, Caltech is known for pranks on MIT, as you can read below.

    https://www.admissions.caltech.edu/pranks

Caltech is also smaller than MIT.  My husband's incoming freshman class was 210 students.
