I suspect this was because the showrunnner prefered EBR. The showrunner has a ton of influence over the writing on the show. In S2, CP has exactly 12 words in the episode that started the crossover. I suspect that was just to fulfill the contractual obligation, but then Iris wasn't shown again during the rest of the crossover of S2. However, DP was in every episode of every crossover except for the S6 crossover. Why? Different showrunner in S6.

AJK and Todd both seemed to favor DP, whether that was because of the contract or just preference, CP got the short end of the stick for a long time until things started improving a bit in S5 with Todd and now Eric.

I mean AJK always prefered and pushed KC everyway he could just like he did with DP.

AJKs wife represented both KC and DP. But with AJK being more focused on the Flash show, he wasnt as involved with Arrow that much anymore and he was overruled by everybody else involved with the show with the direction they were taking. He still tried to stir the pot one last time at the end of s2 knowing the direction they were taking. But KC also had connection on the CW beyond that and she still speaks highly about them. Lets not forget how AJK made sure KC had another chance to be part of the Arrowverse when he introduced Black Siren on the Flash.

Lets just say Berlanti was never going to be KCs biggest fan with how she loved to use lawyers and lawsuits against the showrunners and the show or when she talked shit about Berlanti at Hollywoods major events.

The problem was also KCs character had failed. And the showrunners tried to fix the mistakes, but you can only do so much when CW doesnt want to hear about the proposed changes (like rewriting her characters before it premiered or recasting the role).

EBR was creating quite a bit of buzz for Arrow since her first appearance. Then she seemed to get support from people at the top of WB, with Peter Roth constantly repeating how much he loved Felicity/EBRs first appearance and wanting to see more of her. Berlanti always seemingly supported Emily even after she left the show and is one of the people that is responsible for Emily returning. I dont know how EBR/MG interacted, but there clearly was tension after the AJK thing blew up. And even with that i think MG still prefered writing for Felicity rather than any version of Laurel.  Doesnt have to mean Felicity got the big storylines but they just loved her character, which was one of their creation basically. But it wasnt just the fact that the showrunners had their favorites, the writers seem to have hated writing for Laurel also. They basically had to hire a writer  just to write the episodes where Laurel had more than 5 minutes of screentime.

With Danielle i think the connection to AJK and his wife got her a better contract and pay than Candice, which is ridicilous since Candice was cast as the female lead. Candice position got better throughout the seasons but she had to work hard to get it. We all know Candice was treated badly while the Flash was run by AJK.

There is a reason why Candice never truly interacted with Katie Cassidy.  Katie Cassidy always supported Danielle Panabaker, they were even roomates. Heck they dated the same guy. The little incident from a live tweet comes to mind where she gushed about Grant/Danielle interaction while completely ignoring Candice. Candice supported Caity Lotz instead. Calling her the Black Canary of it all.

I dont think the situations of Candice and Katie Cassidy are even little compareable. Candice never got the chances from the start Katie did. Candice had to work her ass off to earn them. Katie got everything delivered on a silver platter and still failed in her role and had to learn that in show business you sometimes dont get what you were casted for. Colin (played Tommy Merlyn on Arrow) was supposed to be on the show for 7 years, yet got killed off at the end of s1. There is no victim mentality when discussing any other exit that is not KC.

  2. Honestly, for the first 2-3 seasons it seemed like Danielle and Candice were on equal grounds regarding the position they held on the show. I would even say Danielle was a step up higher in how she was treated by the show/contract. Then around season 3 Candice was put in a position that equaled her female lead status. I think it had a lot to do with Danielles connection with AJK and the network at first being careful because of the mess they had with Arrow with the original female lead with KC.

I dont know who represented Candice as she was being casted, but honestly they should have negotiated for a better contract.

Next interview she'll be back to wanting SA to guest star so they can explore more of any variation of Oliver and Laurel some more.

I don't think she hates EBR at all, though I don't think they're BFFs like some claim, but she never supported Olicity or Felicity herself. Which is fine, she wanted the ship/leading lady position that she was promised and Olicity was one of the reasons that sank. Definitely not the only reason but the most tangible. She has clearly never let go of "Loliver" (heh) because she wanted that leading lady position back. To pretend otherwise is disingenuous, especially when it was noticeable that she started live tweeting episodes when EBR left. IIRC she also liked tweets saying Blackstar should be revealed to be Oliver and Siren's daughter and that they should get together. Not to mention that she seemed to go out of her way not to mention Mia/FTA when directed the biggest twist of the season.

With JH I don't think she was ready for a lot of the intensity and speculation from many sides of the fandom or perhaps too ready having been gee-d up by someone because she came in very much "I'm the badass, GD Black Canary!" on SM sometimes and that involved liking a lot of "Down with Olicity, up with BC!" stuff and people wondering if they were going with GA/BC 3.0.

In case of Juliana the problem was that things came pilling up with stuff she did on social media. The way the whole NTA actors acted during the civil war didnt make things any better. People kept excusing things with she is new to this. But for me once, you are over 30 you should know how to conduct yourself in the media and social platforms. Especially if you are joining a show with an established fandom already.

  4. She doesnt need to lie like that. The only time she ever mentioned

"I don't know. I guess there's that possibility but in the sense of you have Oliver and you have Tommy and 'Oliver and Laurel' and I think at the end of the day, Oliver and Laurel are meant to be. They're each others 'ideally' first and hopefully at some point, each others lasts. No one can really ever compare to Oliver the way that Laurel sees him and I think Oliver feels the same way about Laurel. So Felicity may be there, it may be a fling, I have no idea, but you know, 'Bring it, Felicity!' [laughs]. Laurel has got this.”

MJ: You know Katie, many fans of the show have been pushing to see the romance between Oliver and Felicity develop. When we chatted a couple of years ago, you said that you believed Laurel was Oliver’s first and hopefully last love.  Do you still feel that way?

KC: Absolutely! I think people go through different things in life, different phases, and timing is everything and right now romantically Laurel is not thinking romantically, I don’t think. She is focused on something else and Oliver and Felicity have a connection but, at the end of the day, I do think that they [Laurel and Oliver] are soulmates. I always will think that even if Oliver is involved with Felicity or not. Needless to say, just because it’s your soulmate, that doesn’t mean you end up with them. Sometimes soulmates just remain best friends. It’s funny because obviously I am on the show and read the scripts, but I’ll also watch the episodes and yesterday (I don’t know if you saw it) but I hashtagged on my Twitter “#Olicity” because everybody loves the Oliver/Felicity/Laurel triangle that is going on.  And with the writing, they [Oliver and Felicity] have good chemistry but I think at some point maybe far later down the line we may explore that… getting back into Laurel and Oliver romantically but it is absolutely not in her wavelength at all right now. I think she has a lot going on and a lot to deal with and she can’t really think like that at the moment.

I could almost feel sorry for Juliana because she was coming into a difficult situation. And she was being embraced by the fans because they wanted Felicity to have another friend. But even before her debut on the show she was liking anti Felicity/anti Olicity posts and articles. Which was truly ridicilous.

  5. Once Tv production start up once again, everything will change

    Quote

Amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, when predicting the future may seem futile, there’s at least one thing Hollywood is in agreement on: When the industry is eventually able to start up production again, film and TV sets are going to look very different. Gone are the days of grazing on the communal snacks at the craft services table, inviting friends and family to pop over to the set and maybe even kissing scenes between actors — at least until a coronavirus vaccine is widely available.

In an effort to keep cast and crew safe on set — which are notably high-risk for their propensity to cram a lot of people into compact spaces — sources say that leading Hollywood content producers and unions are working to develop new industry standards to prevent the spread of COVID-19. At the forefront of those conversations are major studios including Disney and Warner Bros., unions like IATSE and the Directors Guild of America, top production facilities like Pinewood Studios and associations such as AMPTP and various film commissions. (The MPA is also said to be involved, though sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that some studios aren’t thrilled about it as they would prefer to develop protocols on their own. A spokesperson for the MPA, however, says the association is not involved in coming up with production protocols for legal and antitrust reasons.)

“There are a lot of discussions surrounding what re-entry should look like,” says California film commissioner Colleen Bell, who has been actively involved in the conversations — which have picked up pace in recent weeks. She adds that the specifics will depend heavily on the type of production, and that there’s not necessarily a one-size-fits-all approach. “There will be new production procedures and protocols that are rooted in safeguarding health, but what exactly they’ll end up being will look different for, say, a small production company compared to a large studio.”

In fact, it’s likely those more modest productions will be the first to get the green light. “What we're hearing is that when production begins to reopen, it'll be done in phases,” confirms FilmLA president Paul Audley. “And the first phase most likely will include a numbers restriction and social distancing measures, so that would mean that any film permits will only be issued for very small productions.” As for when larger productions will get to rev back up again, multiple studio and production sources say there’s hope for July-August start dates but that fall may be more realistic.

Though no official guidelines have been released by any major parties, there’s still plenty of chatter about the procedures being considered. To start, there’s the expected: Gloves and masks may need to be worn on set, with the exception of actors who obviously can’t wear them on camera. In order to protect performers, there’s been talk of two actors in close proximity, especially intimate scenes, being shot separately and then bringing it together in postproduction. "We've done split screens before, but for the next 18 months we need to figure out how to allow actors to get up close and personal,” says Neishaw Ali, president and executive producer of Toronto-based SpinVFX.

Naturally, sanitation will take priority. Everything on set will need to be cleaned and disinfected. Cameras and other high-touch equipment like props, construction materials and wardrobe are likely to have to pass through disinfecting checkpoints leading on to set. Personal cleanliness will also be paramount. State-of-the-art hand-washing stations are already being installed at Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios, a leading production facility that’s home to several big-budget features and TV shows. “I'm usually excited about a great script, but right now I'm finding that I’m excited to be coming up with hand-washing solutions,” jokes Pinewood president Frank Patterson, who is also putting together mobile sanitation stations that can be used on-location.

Of course, there will also be plenty of hand sanitizer around, which actually won’t be that new for at least one popular TV genre: hospital-set dramas. "We've had real and full hand sanitizer containers built into our sets for a few years because we're a medical show and our medical advisors call for it as a precaution each flu season," says The Good Doctor producer Shawn Williamson, who likens COVID-19’s predicted impact on production to 9/11’s overhaul of travel and airport security. “There will be similar restrictions and safety measures that come into play because of this pandemic that will impact how we work and travel going forward.”

There’s also talk of tightening up on who is allowed on set at any given time. That could mean fewer visitors getting cleared but also a moratorium on large numbers of extras. "We think it's critically important to reduce access to only those necessary to be on the lot," says Patterson. One source says there’s even been discussions about minimizing the free-flowing nature of sets by mandating badges for separate departments (e.g., set design, hair and makeup) so that crewmembers are only allowed access to the specific areas they actually need to be.

Other measures under active consideration include no longer letting crewmembers share tools (everyone would have their own set) and staggering call times and lunch breaks to avoid crowds. Craft services will have to be entirely reimagined. “You just can't go pile the food in the corner and have everyone go eat it anymore," says Patterson. Instead, meals are likely to be served individually. The possibility has even been raised of striking up a deal with Gate Gourmet, the food service company that provides airline meals, particularly since they’ve been under-utilized with the lack of flying lately.

And then there’s testing. It’s likely everyone who comes to set will need to either have their temperature taken or, better, be given a rapid antigen test — depending on availability. The idea has also been floated of carrying out pretesting for antibodies so that those who’ve already beat the virus can get what one source calls an “immunity passport.” However, recent studies suggesting that it’s possible to be reinfected with the virus have poured a bit of cold water on the idea.

One of the more complex solutions being bounced around is quarantined film sets, where cast and crew undergo regular testing, stay in designated hotels close to set and don’t return home until filming is complete. Film commissioner Bell acknowledges she’s heard the idea come up a few times. “This is a creative community, so there are a lot of creative ideas about how to try and manage this new set of circumstances,” she says.

  6. Depends on the promo they want to go with. Also with how the shows finish up this year.

I think an issue could also be how long the contract for the actors are valid and if the actors decided to sign up for more. Because this was the moment for the Flash actors to negotiate their contracts.

  7. SDCC with fans wont be happening either way, the best you can hope for is a virtual panel. But then you dont have the personal interaction between the cast and it honestly isnt the same. SDCC content  from previous years aint happening. Or any other con event CW/WB loves to use to promote the shows. That means no NYCC either until you get a vaccine. Or even Paley. Upfronts were delayed as well. The problem is also that you have such shows like SPN who will probably take more focus on the promo for the final season that is going to be pushed into the next season. Some of it will also go to the 100.

Can we get some good news for once?

And with no episodes to promote what would they even need SDCC for?

But in case I am being too pessimistic and they manage to film something before 2021 I am hoping against all hope that they will still be able to do some sort of promo.

Shows have went to SDCC without new filmed episodes. So that isnt an issue per se.

Specifically in Vancouver, which is home to nearly 20 TV productions, government officials do not foresee life returning to any semblance of normal until the summer, meaning that the shows that traditionally start back up production in late June/early July would have to cool their heels for at least a little bit (if not longer).

“It’s more and more [unlikely] that we’re going to be able to get back to full normal life… before at least the summer, and then we need to start preparing ourselves for the potential of a second wave in the fall,” British Columbia provincial chief health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry told reporters on Tuesday.

I would even say July might be too optimistic for start of filming.

I don't think they gave a return date for Legends of Tomorrow. For Flash every article I have read stated that they have enough episodes ready to last it through May and only then they are going on another hiatus.

Maybe they have less post-production issues than other shows? If 6x16 and 6x17 were the only episodes they completed they'd probably air them now like they are doing with episodes of  Supernatural and Legacies. I don't see the point in having us wait months to air only one/two episodes and then go on another hiatus.

From what i remember Legacies announced right the way that episode 16 will be the last of the season. So they probably had some time to put in place. We know the Arrowverse shows employ different companies for vfx, visuals and sound recording. We have seen that Flash actors have to also do ADR for certain episode. I just doubt that there is no need for actors to record ADR over several different episodes.

People said it seems like they're coming back in late APril since the article said The Flash will air the episodes filmed by May 12. It seems like they're trying to get post-production done.

I seen different sites claim different things. I know they can do some things remotely. but what i am wondering if they can do it in tie to finish up the episodes. From what was said LOT finished almost 2 months ago and they still episodes lined up in post-production. The big rush they seem to be putting on this could make the quality of the episode questionable.

  12. The fact that they never mentioned when the shows are coming back with new episodes makes me think they will be able to air maybe 1-2 episodes even if 20 episodes were filmed. The pandemic crisis is only going to get worse in US and Canada in April, maybe even through May.
