EllenB September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 I am so, so, so tired of the "I'm so awkward, I'm so quirky, aren't I precious?" contestants. Ugh. Also sick of Oversingers Anonymous having their meetings on my TV. I feel like Angela. 6 2 Link to comment
Ashforth September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 This is BLAKE'S show, did you know that? Did you know that Blake is the OG of The Voice? It's HIS show. In case you didn't know. This article is informational: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/brutally-honest-emmy-ballot-trump-snl-1240091/item/emmy-ballot-2019-best-reality-competition-1240101?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social scroll down to the Best Reality Competition section. Apparently either Adam or Blake said, "it's him or me," and Blake won. Well of course he did, years and countless publicists have been invested in pushing the fake Blake-Gwen relationship. So Adam (yes, he seems like a jerk, too) is gone and who is back? GWEN! Oh how cute. And this is BLAKE'S show. He's the Senior Coach. He is The King of The Voice. He is the Big Swinging Dick of the Voice stage. I used to enjoy the vocal competition, but the singers are now a very distant second to the Voice Judges Shit Show. Even the turns are fake. Singers who would have gotten multiple turns in the past are stuck with only Gwen turning. Bitch, please. 1 1 Link to comment
Dots And Stripes September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 I would take that article with a huge grain of salt. It's some poorly sourced gossip. We also watched Adam's meltdown play out over the course of last season. His battles with TPTB were about more than just another coach. The Blake being the OG stuff felt like a fairly standard bit that we see in the blinds. At the end of the day, this is a tv show and the coaches are there to entertain. 12 Link to comment
DaphneCat September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 Night two and the pacing still seems better. Less background, more singing. The two little girls were good but I REALLY don't want a season of "They're ONLY 13 and 14!!!!!! That's CRAZY!!!!!!" (No, many people are 13 or 14 and some of them even have some sort of talent.) I want to hear a singer who's good, NOT someone who's good for their age. Again, I guess I really am mean and heartless, but the 16 year old (with the sobbiest story) was not ready. I'm glad we don't have to listen to that for several more episodes. 8 Link to comment
Misslindsey September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 I have the unpopular opinion of not liking Blake. I just find him and his shtick so grating. I like John and Kelly. I am pretty indifferent to Gwen. She is just there for me, I think I enjoyed her more during her No Doubt days. 6 minutes ago, DaphneCat said: The two little girls were good but I REALLY don't want a season of "They're ONLY 13 and 14!!!!!! I agree with you on both points. Sometimes there are some good younger singers, but I tend to prefer the ones that are out of their teens. I have a habit of rooting against singers that are 16 and under. I know, I am horrible. 1 9 Link to comment
hnygrl September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 It’s not about the singing anymore. It’s not about undiscovered talent. It’s not about this guy or gal would never be taken seriously as an artist because he/she is fat, ugly, awkward. Or just...no. Oh no. Now it’s aaaalllllllll about the coaches. And I am so over it. If Blake keeps doing his Adam impression I’m Not even gonna make it through the blinds... 3 Link to comment
MsTree September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 Love the show, love the coaches and love the shtick. That's what makes the Voice different from tired/boring AI. 15 Link to comment

I agree 100%. These judges are cracking me up! I loved the part where Kelly was complaining about her seat being too far away to argue with Blake. John bobbing his head back and forth watching them was so awesome that I had to rewind and watch that part again. 7 Link to comment
itsadryheat September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 Count me in as enjoying the Voice. What I really like is the variety of contestants, variety in age, style, years performing. With all the hostile crap in the news, incl Bravo, and lack of quality tv shows it’s nice to be entertained by good vocals and what appears to be a fun camaraderie among the hosts. How unique it would be to work with people I had fake/not fake fun with. 7 Link to comment
atlantaloves September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 I am totally loving this season too. They actually have people with great voices so far. Yahooooo. I love it, even though the judges bother me sometimes, but they all do. The first two episodes were great, and yeah man, I do not miss nasty Adam either. So far so good! 6 Link to comment
RedbirdNelly September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 I enjoy this as well, and I like all the coaches. Certain of their banter moments crack me up. 6 Link to comment
foxfreakinmulder September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 John is so quiet and laid back compared to the other coaches, even when he's trying to get a singer to join his team. I thought that was cute when John blocked Kelly and then told her he was sorry and she could bock him. It's so much better without grumpy Adam and all the back stories. I wish they didn't show any back stories just let them walk on stage and sing. I didn't care for the duo, the last guy or the reggae singer the others I thought we're okay, but so far no one has stood out for me. I hate it when the coaches tell the singer they're so good they could be or will be in the finale or win it all just to get them on their team. 3 Link to comment
shantown September 25, 2019 Share September 25, 2019 I would like to see the coaches make pitches more based on a critique of the performance and how they could help them, or how they could help them grow in general. You have superstars who know business, know music, know artists, know promotions. The whole pitch shouldn't be "You're the greatest singer on this show and you're going to win this season" because for 99.99% of them - that's not true. That being said, even with Blake's schtick wearing a little thin, there seems to be a cheerfulness to all the coaches this year and a friendly camaraderie between them all. It's a nice change! 9 Link to comment

I'm not familiar with a lot of the music that's played, and I enjoy it when the coaches give constructive feedback, even/especially when they're explaining why they didn't turn. Or when they recognize how much the music means to the singer. I can believe how much the coaches enjoy helping someone just starting out in their career, and also respect the heck out of each other's art. That type of camaraderie is really wonderful to see. Last night also delivered on that. I felt the joking between the coaches was all in good fun, and that Blake's posturing was as "real" as John secretly turning a utilities closet into a shrine for his awards. I was really happy that Royce didn't disappoint. Smart use of his "package" in that he gave the mnemonics for his name. Plus his kids are so adorable! 5 Link to comment

That way we also wouldn't be influenced by performance. If they can't avoid a back story all I really want to hear is what kind of music they want to sing and who their MUSICAL influences are. 4 hours ago, Kaiju Ballet said: What initially hooked me onto the Voice was that it's a feel-good show. YES, if they need to fill time instead of back stories it would be great to hear more constructive criticism. If as an artist you feel your biggest weakness is X (breath control, pitch, whatever) and one of the coaches zeros in on that quality you're more likely to pick that coach who can really help you rather than pick someone because you've always admired them. 5 Link to comment
Wouldofshouldof September 29, 2019 Share September 29, 2019 I was just telling my fiance the other day about how some people think Swift is saying "Starbucks lovers" in that song, and DAYUUUM, but did Emily Bass just sing Starbucks lovers, twice?!? 1 Link to comment

I like the judges and how much fun they seem to be having. I have only watched parts of one or two seasons though, so I haven’t had a chance to get jaded. I mostly stopped because I didn’t like Adam Levine. I think Blake is very likable and funny though. Having said that, I’m distracted by the ridiculous get-up Gwen is wearing and the plastic look she has with the caked on makeup and immobile face. (And why is she wearing the same outfit in a few of the shows?) Has she always looked like this? I wasn’t really a No Doubt fan. It looks like her face has been pulled too much, especially around the eyes. And I don’t remember lips being that full. I also would like to just hear the contestants sing without hearing any back story. I think the mystery would make it more exciting. I close my eyes when I listen so I can feel like a judge. Ha! They do this so that they can edit the audition footage and show it in any order they choose. Link to comment
