Bill C. June 29, 2014 Share June 29, 2014 Ghost and Tommy call a meeting of their gang leaders, while Angela plans surveillance of the event. The mystery assailant strikes again. In my best Tommy voice: "What is it with bitches and walls in this episode?" That aside, the rest of this episode actually was pretty decent for what it was. It also focused more on the drug side of things (continuing to convince me that Pink Sneakers' unknown agenda is probably the most interesting thing in the show), with a brief detour to bribing the NYPD and dealing with the drug dealer who basically brought them down on James and the club. And I have to admit I rather enjoyed Angie finally falling on her face in her I'm-right-bitches zeal to bust Lobos' mysterious distributor, even if it was a bit of TV contrivance. OTOH...Tasha. Her plan to "wrap Shawn around her little finger," as she herself put it, in order to keep tabs on her man--it makes a certain kind of sense, I know, but it still makes her...ugh. (That said, I think we've now seen just about all of Naturi Naughton at this point.) 1 Link to comment
MrsRafaelBarba June 29, 2014 Share June 29, 2014 Will give them props for not going the predictable route, with who sees Ghost and Angie. Holly will be too much for Tommy to handle. 3 Link to comment
Easyspreestep June 30, 2014 Share June 30, 2014 I need Ghost to explain to Tasha why he is so made at her. It seems he is doing, the thing cheating men do, get mad at his wife so it can justify his cheating. Tasha also needs to grow up, if your husband is telling you he found a easier, less stressful way to make money, why are you upset. I mean it's not like Jamie and Tasha are "hood rich". Tasha should not have the "hood rich" attitude about how Ghost makes his money, but not about, where or how they live. I mean they have a driver, live in what looks like a well to do Manhattan neighborhood in a well to do building. I mean Ghost is not trying to leave the hood, he did that a long time ago, Tasha should be on the same page as Ghost. Starting with calling her husband by his real name and not his drug lord name. That is a problem with the writing and not the character. Jamie and Angie make me sick. I just don't like the pairing. Angie just seems like a user, if Jamie was not a successful business, would she be so into rekindling what she walked away from. I doubt it. 2 Link to comment

Angie and Jamie re-connected how many weeks back, and she's acting all surprised by the family reveal? I can also do without Tommy and the VIP hostess. They're just... *shudders* 2 Link to comment
Bill C. June 30, 2014 Author Share June 30, 2014 Holly, the hostess, at least appears to be a pretty decent if straightforward character. It's Tommy who drags her down, though in the back of my head I'm wondering if she's meant to be the good girl that makes him reconsider his life (and presumably gets whacked later because of him, following that cliche to its conclusion). Tasha should not have the "hood rich" attitude about how Ghost makes his money, but not about, where or how they live. I mean they have a driver, live in what looks like a well to do Manhattan neighborhood in a well to do building. That is a problem with the writing and not the character. That goes back to both her and Tommy wanting James to...be happy with being what he started out as? Not pretend to be something he's not? Next to Angie's zealousness WRT the Lobos investigation, their utter distaste for his desire to turn over a new leaf is probably the most consistent thing the show's doing so far IMO. They're both perfectly happy with the status quo, since they're basically living opposite ends of the American Gangster Dream, and the nightclub is a threat to that. 2 Link to comment

hammaboo July 6, 2014 Share July 6, 2014 Shawn seems to be way too innocent for the family he belongs to. Did his mom keep him away? How did he reconnect to work for his uncle as a driver? Link to comment
Bill C. July 7, 2014 Author Share July 7, 2014 AIUI, Shawn was playing college basketball and blew out his knee or so on. He then apparently lost his scholarship, and ended up working for James thanks to James' loyalty to his father Kanan (Fiddy, who we saw two episodes back); the impression I got is that Kanan is/was James' mentor or some such before he ended up in prison.
