Aww: Warm & Fuzzy TV Moments

What are the moments that bring tears to your eyes and/or a smile in a good way? One of mine was the finale of True Detective, in which Dets. Rust and Marty are talking in front of the hospital where they recuperated after capturing the Yellow King, the killer who almost killed them in the process. It was an unexpectedly sweet moment, perfectly acted by co-stars Matthew McConaghey and Woody Harrelson.

 

  Two more are from the final season of Spartacus, first the end of "The Dead & The Dying," in which Spartacus and the other rebels paid tribute to those they lost in battle and then the final scene in the finale, where Agron told a dying Sparty that "One day, Rome shall fade and crumble. But you, shall always live on. In the hearts of all who yearn for freedom." At the end, there was a scene with the survivors walking away, with Sparty buried with Agron's shield which was a replica of Sparty's shield, complete with red serpent, as a headstone. An extra moment of sweetness was the series finale credits, which featured every actor who had ever played a major part in the Spartacus saga, including the final shot of the late, great Andy Whitfield, the original star of the series, who died of cancer, saying the iconic line, "I am Spartacus!"

I have a hard time picking just one from Modern Family; within all the slapstick and sarcasm there are so many moments where the family shows love for each other and it always makes me smile. I particularly love when Jay refers to Manny as his kid and doesn't treat him like a stereotypical step-child

I find this weird but Walking Dead is only thing coming to my mind. Loved the scenes where the survivors are reunited.  In particular,  when Michonne saw Rick and Carl through the window, Rick saw Michonne through the peephole and turned to Carl and said "Its for you", and when Rick called Daryl his brother.

Just watched Jess' birthday episode of New Girl and the birthday video Nick and the others made for her made me tear up a little. I love those sorts of things and it was just so sweet and nice

From season one of Gilmore Girls, when Lorelai wakes Rory up at the time of her birth and tells her the story of her birth. Makes me melt every time I watch it -- mostly because it reminds me of my mom always calling me at the time of my birth to tell me happy birthday.

  Bumping it up with SNL's touching tribute to the late Jan Hooks, which featured Hooks and the late Phil Hartman in "Love Is A Dream,"  a musical sequence featuring Hooks' and Hartman's younger selves singing and dancing to the title tune.

Harry proposing to Charlotte on sex and the city, well... That's... Just not good enough, she looks like she'll cry, then he gets down on one knee.

I burst into tears when that was first aired.

Yes. Yes, I did. Loved everything from the barely seen nod that Daryl supports Rick right before he turns to see Carol and run...runs...to hug Carol and then hugs again, nearly breaking down...to Rick's did you did this and then hugging Carol...then baby reunion and the smile on Michonne's face and arm clasp with Rick and Tyrese. Walking Dead hit all the notes perfectly. LOVED IT.

I do have to admit that I learned that I have a clear reunion pecking order. Maggie was moving way too fast on seeing Carol and I swear if she had stolen Rick's secondary hugging position after Daryl or crowded the scene in any way, I'd be actively rooting for her to be zombie chow.

  Bumping it up with Chris Evans escorting Betty White to the stage to accept her "Favorite TV Icon" award at this years Peoples' Choice awards, proving that he's just as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside.

  Bumoping it up with a beautiful moment from this year's ESPY Awards, when Cincinnati Bengals player Devon Still accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance award for himself and his 5-year-old daughter Leah, who couldn't attend because she had just gotten more treatment. While the show originally aired on ABC, it should be repeating on ESPN all weekend, in case anyone wants to see it.

  Some unexpectedly sweet moments have come in the wake of the horrific on-camera murders of WDBJ Channel 7 news anchor Alison Parker and her cameraman Adam Ward, whether it was their colleagues, families and friends sharing their memories of them, the surviving WDBJ anchors having a moment of silence for their late colleagues, all the local anchors from all the local stations at the WDBJ press conference showing sympathy and solidarity or the Twitter posts from news crews worldwide, including Access Hollywood, doing the same.

There's an episode of Say Yes to the Dress, Atlanta, that's a prime example of this.  It's about a family who just had a child die of leukemia.  His parents weren't married and he really wanted them to, so now they have decided to do so.  The bride's parents contacted the bridal shop owner, and she drives to their home with inventory and the bride picks out her dress.  The show is normally all about bridezillas and their entourages and every one on this episode is the exact opposite.  It makes you feel good.

Bumping it up with another sweet moment from Game Of Thrones, when Sansa Stark reunited with her half-brother Jon Snow after several long, hard seasons apart, when both characters went through Hell, whether it was Sansa's being married to Joffrey, her involvement with Littlefinger, her being married to/raped by Ramsey Bolton or Jon Snow's being betrayed/murdered by his own men and his subsequent resurrection. Sansa & Jon's reunion was the first bit of good news the Starks have had in years and it was worth the wait.

I just had one of these moments this weekend, rewatching the final season of NYPD Blue.  Andy is promoted to sergeant and he walks downstairs from the squad room in his dress uniform to find everyone in the station house lined up at attention, saluting him.  I loved that show and Andy/Dennis so dearly, it really touched my heart.

When Starsky finds Hutch under his car, aft the latter's car was run off the road into a canyon, and says "WE made it, partner."

In S1 of 'LOST' aft Charlie digs Jack out of the cave in, and he gives Locke his remaining drugs.

The final scene of 'MTM' where the group is hugging in a circle and no one wants to let go, so they do this shuffle in a circle.

On That 70's Show, I love anytime Eric and Kitty spend time together. One of my favorites is when they go to see Anne Hall together and Kitty teases him about his discomfort with seeing nudity with his mom ("Your father has nipples" LOL). Also when he spends the day with her at work and afterward he asks how she puts up with all the crap she gets dealt and she just cranks up "Bad Blood" on the radio, and they sing together.

  Bumping it up to add the Marriage proposal of 2017 World Series champs Houston Astros' Carlos Correa to his girlfriend Daniella Rodriguez. Correa promised himself that if his team won the Series, that he would ask Daniella to marry him, which he did-and she accepted. Normally, I don't like these kind of public proposals, but the moment was so sweet it warmed my cold, dead heart.

Joe Biden's interview with Meghan McCain, where she got emotional over recounting his son's death because he had the same cancer as her father, and Joe consoled her by telling her about his friendship with her dad (despite the fact they're on opposing parties) and that if anybody could beat cancer, he could. 

I didn't know how much I needed to see that.

ITA. For all of Joe Biden's faults/mistakes, he's one of the humblest, most decent & classiest men in politics, if not the world. If anyone knows what Meghan McCain's going through, it's Biden. Meghan McCain gets on my nerves 99% of the time, but Biden's compassion for her & her father made her seem human to me for the first time. Here's the video:

It's not political, it's from the heart, and it will make you cry:

Any time on the news when they cover a father or mother or son or daughter in the military surprising their family after returning from a deployment.  These families, especially the children, are the true heroes of America.  

The Joe Biden/Meghan McCain interaction was beautiful, I agree, but what does it say about the current climate when we feel the need to remark on simple human decency?  This type of concern and caring is happening all around us, and unfortunately it gets overwhelmed by the viciousness and nonsense going on.  

And I can't fail to mention just about every childbirth scene on Call the Midwife.  And the scene when Shelagh and Patrick found each other on that foggy road, the scene where Chummy and Peter got married, the scene where . . .  OK, just about every scene in Call the Midwife!

Yep, his wife and daughter, who was just a couple years old were killed in an auto accident that seriously injured his two young sons, including the late Beau.  Joe was sworn into the Senate in his sons' hospital room.  He commuted by train to DC from Delaware every day for a long time because he didn't want to pull his kids out away from their school and friends after all they'd been through and he couldn't not see them every day.

There is also a really moving interview with Stephen Colbert, recorded just after Biden's son died in which they talk about their mutual losses (Colbert's father and 2 brothers died in a plane crash when he was 10) and how their Catholic faith helped them cope.

MSNBC had a wonderful hour long segment about Joe Biden on their Headliners show.  It was really quite compelling, covering his days from college until the present (and, dare I say future?).  I tried pulling up a link for it, but can find it only on pay-for-view sites.  The way cable repeats shows, I'm pretty confident it'll come on again at some time, and it's definitely worth watching.

Anybody remember the Disney cartoon The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh?  That show had a whole bunch of warm and fuzzy moments, but arguably the best one was the episode "Finder Her, Keep Her."  Rabbit finds a lost baby bird named Kessie in a snowstorm, and even though he gets harried and irritated over the responsibilities, he comes to love her.  So much, in fact, that he makes her promise never to fly because 1) he's afraid she'll get hurt and 2) he's afraid that she'll leave.

Anyway, as you can predict, she winds up flying and Rabbit eventually resigns himself to letting her go.  And the big warm fuzzy moment at the end of the episode is a conversation between Pooh and Piglet over what happened:

Piglet: And for the longest time I thought Rabbit didn't like her.

Winnie the Pooh: Sometimes people care too much. I think it's called love.

Piglet: Oh... Do you think we should tell Rabbit?

Winnie the Pooh: No, I believe he already knows., 

Don't mind me, I'll just be crying in my little corner...
