Is it possible for someone to work in a house with a five day old dead body and not notice the smell?  That was my problem with this episode.

 It depends on how hot and how attentive Jochen was which was not really.  He had gone to the complex to correct an error.  He was probably already in sneak mode and the paint he was using probably had its own oder so he could have just not noticed until he did.

The paint smell could have masked the odor. Plus, he seemed pretty out of it anyway even when he did discover the body.
