The Best Superhero Shows to Watch Right Now

Quote

Arrow
Where to Watch: Netflix
...
The Green Arrow might not have been a household name like Superman or Batman, but thanks to The CW's recent take on the character, Oliver Queen ( Stephen Amell) managed to launch an entire DC multiverse, thank you very much. Arrow tells the story of entitled billionaire playboy, Oliver Queen, and his return home after spending five years on a deserted island. Though he maintains the party-boy persona by day, by night, he hunts down criminals in his city armed with a bow and arrow and a whole lot of martial arts.

Arrow
The Flash
Doom Patrol
Jessica Jones
Krypton
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Supergirl
Legion
DC's Legends of Tomorrow
Smallville
Teen Titans
The Umbrella Academy
Luke Cage
Harley Quinn

The 10 Best Archers From Film & TV
BY MAX TENENBAUM   APR 07, 2020
https://screenrant.com/best-archers-film-tv/

Quote

4  Oliver Queen - Arrow (2012-2020)
...
Presumed dead and lost at sea, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) spent five years surviving the deadly island of Lian Yu and completing dangerous covert missions in China and Russia, all the while honing his archery and combat skills to master levels.

When he finally returned home to his remaining family, he donned a mask and green hood and became the vigilante protector of Starling City known as The Green Arrow. Known for taking down armies of armed enemies, Queen's archery prowess is on display every episode, but his most heroic quality might be his leadership, demonstrated by his recruiting and mentoring of Team Arrow throughout Arrow.

10 Paris - Troy (2004)
9  Abigail Whistler - Blade: Trinity (2004)
8  Princess Merida - Brave (2012)
7  Ygritte - Game Of Thrones
6  Hawkeye - The Avengers Franchise
5  Katniss Everdeen - The Hunger Games Franchise
4  Oliver Queen - Arrow (2012-2020)
3  John Rambo - Rambo Franchise
2  Robin Hood- Several Iterations
1  Legolas - The Lord Of The Rings Franchise

I voted for 810 - that Felicity comment (sigh)...

Quote

With all that is going on in the world right now, we were unsure if we would do the annual GreenArrowTV Awards this year — after all, Arrow as a series ended two months ago and we all have bigger things to worry about. However, most on Twitter seemed to think the GATV Awards should happen again this year — and so, they’re happening again this year.

Things will be a little different this time: The negative categories are all gone, because the last thing we need right now is negativity. I can see the tweets now: “GATV got rid of the negative things because Felicity wasn’t in Season 8!” Not true: She was in the finale, so yes, still part of the show. I just don’t think it’s appropriate. The positive/happier topics will still be voted on.
*  *  *
-Votes are limited to ONE vote per IP. This means, there’s no way to “cheat” on this poll that we are aware of, and as such, the responses will be accurate.

-The polls will remain open until we’re done for the summer. We’re keeping all polls open throughout the process, until the time we make the final tally. Do know, though, if you already voted and are given another opportunity to vote later, only the first vote from your IP will be counted.

Craig's persecution complex both hilarious and sad.

I look forward to voting for Kat M/Mia for favorite female regular and for EBR/Felicity as favorite guest star.

See what I bolded and quoted above. I think GATV was just anticipating getting Felicity comments.

TV's Top Leading Lady 2020: Vote in the Sweet 16
by TV SCOOP TEAM | Tue., Apr. 14, 2020

Only 16 actresses remain in the competition, and only eight can continue on to the next round thanks to your votes.

This is where things get tough, because it's time for costars to start battling each other in an effort to not have a final few rounds filled with stars of the same show. In this round and the next, you'll see stars of Anne With an E, Sanditon, Wynonna Earp, and Arrow facing off, as well as the regular face offs. (Note: If there are three stars from the same show currently remaining, two will face off now. If there are only two, they'll face off if they make it to the Elite Eight.)

Voting will remain open until Thursday, April 16 at 1 p.m. PT.

3 and 5 seem like the obvious choices (Felicity, Jeff, and Lena in one house? that house won't just survive it'll probably become a thriving and supporting community to the county and even come up with a cure) since they have no villains (sorry William and House 1, you've got Barry and Sophie, so going to have to boot you) and I'd even put 6 up there since it's got a bunch of favs too.

If I'm single I'm going to bunker down with Ray in House 5 and hit on him.

If I'm married like I am now I'm still going to pick House 5 so Ray can home school my kid. Ray and hubby would get along too (very nerdy).

We can send Kara out for cryptic groceries and take out because she can't get sick!

Hmm for me it's probably between 3 and 6, I'd put up with Tobias and Ralph if it meant spending time with Zari, Mary and Oliver. Brainy would probably quickly develop a cure as well.

I'd also put up with Mouse to hang out with House 4 I think Sara, Dig, Gambi and Hank could handle him.

Houses 1 and 2 are no goes for me, despite liking some of the characters.

Many of them look like they might get quite fractious after a while with the personalities involved and Nate trying to date all the girls in House 3 one after another. House 5 might end up the most harmonious once Jacob and Joe had given up wrangling for dominance.

Very random, but Spoilertv often has very strange user polls. I legitimately can't remember the hallway fight when Oliver saves Walter, though I remember him flying on to the roof and bursting in to the room and seeing Walter.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that Walter realised just who had rescued him as well, though it was never hinted.

Arrowverse: The 10 Best Friendships, Ranked
BY STEPHANIE HOLLAND  APR 26, 2020
https://screenrant.com/arrowverse-best-friendships-ranked/

Quote

1  OLIVER AND DIGGLE
...
Without John Diggle, Oliver would have likely continued on his original path of indiscriminately killing the people on his list. Working with Diggle made Oliver realize that he needed to save Star City’s citizens, not punish them. He transformed Oliver from the Hood to the Green Arrow.

There were several times throughout their partnership where Dig was the one who kept Oliver’s humanity alive. While Felicity had Oliver’s heart, John took care of his soul. John’s influence is what made Oliver open to working with other heroes. Their friendship is the foundation of the Arrowverse.

10 MICK AND SNART
9  KARA AND WINN
8  JEFFERSON AND GAMBI
7  STEIN AND JAX
6  CISCO AND CAITLIN
5  BARRY AND CISCO
4  RAY AND NATE
3  KARA AND KATE

EBR did not survive to this round, but it was very close - still, congrats to her for making it so far (considering she was off TV screens for so long and she was up against a popular actress, Katie McGrath, who's still on TV screens every week)...

2020 GreenArrowTV Awards: Pick The Best Actor (Male) From Arrow Season 8!
April 28, 2020 Craig Byrne
http://www.greenarrowtv.com/2020-greenarrowtv-awards-pick-the-best-actor-male-from-arrow-season-8/

Quote

Our current category for this year is Best Actor (Male) – this means we’re focusing on the male actors of the show, with the female categories coming next. Only series regulars — those people listed under “Starring” are included — which is why you might not see such great actors as Paul Blackthorne, Colin Donnell, Echo Kellum, Josh Segarra, Colton Haynes, Charlie Barnett or John Barrowman on the list, but don’t worry, there will be opportunity once we get to Best Guest Star. Believe it or not, LaMonica Garrett was indeed included as a series regular, so he is a possible voting choice.

Arrow

In the very first episode of Arrow, the camera pans across the beach of the deserted island where billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was supposedly stranded alone for five years, and zooms in on the iconic black and orange mask of classic comic villain Deathstroke with an arrow stabbed through its eyehole. The implication was clear: For all of the Christopher Nolan trappings and overt rejection of unrealistic comic book-y aesthetics, this is going to be a superhero show. The CW won’t scare off viewers by saying a ridiculous name like “Deathstroke” (or even “The Green Arrow”) right away, but some characters from the comics will pop up sooner rather than later.

And pop up they did: Over the course of the first two seasons, Arrow not only put Slade Wilson in his full Deathstroke armor, but also featured appearances from other famous DC villains like Merlyn, Count Vertigo, the Royal Flush gang, Firefly, Deadshot, and even the Suicide Squad (complete with a Harley Quinn cameo, years before Margot Robbie started swinging a hammer around), not to mention some not-so-vague references to mega-villain Ra’s Al Ghul. By the end of season two, Oliver already had a sidekick, his city had been terrorized by multiple supervillain plots, his sister was given her own doorway into the superhero life, he answered the prayers of ’shippers by starting a romantic relationship with tech whiz Felicity Smoak, and—oh yeah—his friend Barry Allen got zapped by lightning, setting the stage of The Flash and the expansion of what would eventually be called the Arrowverse. The Best 50 Arrowverse Characters, Ranked
BY LINDSAY MACDONALD   MAY 29, 2020
https://www.tvguide.com/galleries/top-50-arrowverse-characters-ranked/

Quote

33. Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy), Arrow ...
After Laurel Lance died, we weren't sure we'd ever accept another Black Canary into our hearts. Little did we know that Dinah Drake was on the way to take up the mantle and prove herself capable of honoring Laurel's legacy while still making her own mark. No matter which timeline she's is, she's one of the best saviors Star City has ever seen.
*  *  *
30. Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), Arrow ...
Black Siren has a backbone of steel and her redemption arc was a thing of beauty to behold. Seeing her find her own sense of nobility made us realize she wasn't so very different from the Laurel Lance we lost after all. When push comes to shove, Black Siren will always be capable of crossing the line, but seeing her struggle with the good and bad sides of herself is something we could watch forever.
*  *  *
20. Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), Arrow ...
Laurel had a noble streak to outshine all others, and her compassion in the face of deep loss made her one of the strongest women the Arrowverse has ever seen. Though her end was tragic, her sacrifice became a symbol to the people of Star City and all the heroes she fought the good fight with.
*  *  *
12. John Diggle (David Ramsey), Arrow ...
"The sidekick" has become such a staple of the superhero genre, that it almost feels stereotypical at this point, and maybe that's why John Diggle showed up in the pilot of Arrow to smash that stereotype to pieces. Not only was he the first person to join Team Arrow, he refused to compromise his morals or cross lines during a time when Oliver Queen was crossing them every night. Diggle has never been a sidekick, he's always been Oliver's equal, his partner, and his best friend. And yeah, we're dying to see a spin-off of him becoming the Green Lantern.
*  *   *
6. Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Arrow / DC's Legends of Tomorrow ...
The phrase "strong female character" gets tossed around a lot these days, but we'll bet you didn't know that if you look it up in the dictionary, you'll find an actual photo of Sara Lance there. As one of the first (and best) LGBTQ characters in the Arrowverse, Sara paved the way for all the others who came after her and did it with an unbeatable sense of humor and a very particular set of skills. Plus, she totally has the best game of anyone else on this list!
*  *  *
4. Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), Arrow ...
What would the world be with Felicity Smoak? We hope we never have to find out! There has always been a light inside of Felicity that brightened every room she walked into, and the heroes of the Arrowverse need that more than you might expect. Her brains and quirky personality are the perfect combo, and to this day she remains one of the best characters the Arrowverse ever created.
*  *  *
3. Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Arrow ...
Oh, Oliver Queen, the man who kicked off the entire Arrowverse. Though he's undoubtedly one of the darkest heroes of the Arrowverse, Oliver still managed to steal a special place in our hearts. For over a decade, he had to test his mettle against some of the most despicable circumstances you can put a character through, and yet each time he came out the other side, a little more battered, but holding his head high. It takes a special kind of courage to be Oliver Queen, and in the end, he got the happy ending he always deserved.

All Arrow characters on this list:
50. Floyd Lawton (Michael Rowe), Arrow
45. Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Arrow
43. Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), Arrow
33. Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy), Arrow
30. Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), Arrow
29. Thea Queen (Willa Holland), Arrow
26. Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett), Arrow
20. Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), Arrow
18. Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell), Arrow
15. Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Arrow / DC's Legends of Tomorrow
12. John Diggle (David Ramsey), Arrow
6. Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Arrow / DC's Legends of Tomorrow
4. Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), Arrow
3. Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Arrow
1. Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), The Flash
(I included Barry because he started out on Arrow.)
