I agree, I've said it before.  I think she plays up as you said to be funny and I think her husband might like the shtick of it, so it's their thing. The both get a little buzz from the jealously back and forth.

Sunny has many many friends. Lots of beautiful women in her friend group. I dont think she'd have tens of people in her any given weekend if she was the real jealous type. She'd keep her husband to herself.  I think she thinks it funny and imo her husband loves it, so she amps it up more for his benefit.

Exactly. My own sister is very jealous. She loves me and trusts me, but at the same time has said I’m too pretty to bring around men she’s trying to snag. I don’t dress as provocatively as J.Lo, but my sister still likes me to follow a dress code despite her wearing skimpy stuff herself. I think if Sunny were that kind of jealous, desperate to be A list or not, she wouldn’t have other hot women in her circle. She’d be that chick who either has no friends, only male friends, or unattractive female friends. JMO.

It’s not that she doesn’t try. Yes, she does her homework but her critical thinking skills are lacking.

I don't think Abby is unintelligent, per se.  She's well spoken and can ask clear, concise questions.  But I think she's still partly influenced by her time at Fox News and being immersed in their way of thinking (such as it is).  She's mentioned still having friends there, and I imagine she still watches.  There have been a few times when she's said something that sounds just like something they would say over there.

I don't remember thinking she wasn't very bright when she was on The Cycle on MSNBC.  With three kids under 2, she's probably not spending a whole lot of time thinking issues through, and just says the first thing that comes to mind.

So, since The View chooses to talk about Biden, Warren, Sanders and Yang, those are the ones to watch, according to Meghan.

Does Whoopie realize how selfish she sounds when she says that all she wants to hear about in the debate is what's in it for her and she doesn't care about anything else?  There are issues that aren't ever going to affect me personally, but will affect others, and the way a candidate addresses them gives voters insight into the values that person holds.

Jennifer Lopez is one gorgeous woman.  -    This is the most natural, animated, comfortable interview I've ever seen her give.   I surprisingly enjoyed it.   -    That duet with her daughter was so cute.   I then went on the net to research more about it, and there was a short little video about Emme rehearsing and then going onstage.    She seems like a really nice little girl.

I think she will be awesome also.  When i picture that character, W is not far off.  They need to age her some, add a shawl on her shoulders, in a rocking chair on the porch of her house in an apple orchard.  The Stand will always be my #1 book.  When he did the miniseries, the opening segment of it will forever be remembered as the BEST ever of any movie, tv show, miniseries.  The music was 'dont fear the reaper' by BOC, and the offices were seen from the CCT monitors.  In every office the people were dead at their desks or trying to get to the door, etc. And then that one car got out before the facility lockdown happened, thus exposing it to the world. It just chilled me to the bone. It was sooooooooo good!  I think its so terrifying because any second it could really happen.  And he wrote this, what 30 yrs ago?  Bloody brilliant he is.  Love that guy!

PS.. ditto clowns.  Thats what makes this so good!

I remember where I was and who I watched the premiere episode with.  Steven King doesn't often write books where good triumphs over evil, a lesson I learned when watching the disturbing Storm of the Century.

And now of course both their boys are writers too.  Joe is enormously successful in the horror genre.

Ha!  At least Debbie knew she lacked the intellect of the other women.  Abby thinks her opinions are original and profound.  Bless her heart.

I appreciate that Joe goes by Hill instead of using his name.  I really liked Heart-Shaped box even though I thought it fell apart in the last half.  He managed to take a character that I would typically despise (all of his lovers are very young and he calls them by the states they come from), and make me root for him.

Very well said.   I care deeply about social issues, and I'm not a minority, or of reproductive age anymore, or challenged in any obvious way - but those (and many more) issues inform and affect my politics and voting choices.   So for Whoopie to have made the comment that she did offended me.   She wants to know how a candidate is going to help her keep more of her money??   What - she doesn't have enough; having even more is her most pressing problem?  Really?  -------    And I'm not saying that saving the population in general more of the money they earn isn't important; of course it is.   It's just that WG is already a millionaire many times over (I would assume) and it irked me that even that isn't enough for her.

I know we often mock Whoopi's rambling and inability to make her point, but today she said something so moving, so evocative, I will never be the same:  "Ya know when ya know, ya know?".  We should all be guided by these words.

Whoopi's self-interests have always been the thing she cares about most.  She's kind of passionate about civil rights, but not if it costs her a penny.  She did participate in Comic Relief, which is huge, but I have a feeling that if she comes across a panhandler she probably reacts like Michael Jordan - if you can ask for money, you can say "welcome to McDonalds can I take your order".

She hates de Blasio because her chauffer is delayed due to bike lanes.  She doesn't seem to feel people are capable of being guilty if they are a personal friend, and she defends them to the ends of earth.  She has defended an athlete who whipped his small child's genitals.  The list is endless.

I was about 10, in the mid 1960s traveling in the southeastern US when I drank out of a "coloured" water fountain and a white lady told me it was not for me and that my mother should do a better job of teaching me how to behave in public.  Being from Canada I had thought the sign on the only water fountain I saw was a relic of the past left to remind people of how things used to be (like "Ladies and Escorts" entrances in bars).

So yes, it is amazing how recent some things are.  My grandmother could not vote in the US until she was 23. Not because of her age, but because she was a woman. It wasn't until 1965 that the US Voting Rights Act secured voting rights for racial minorities.

I live in pretty liberal Santa Barbara.  I was at a friends house on Tuesday for my bday party and we had pizza delivered.  The driver told us that before we got out to him a white lady told him he didn't belong there and he needed to leave.  He was Hispanic.  We were all horrified that this happened in 2019 in a very liberal area.  My friend was visibly upset one of her neighbors is like this.  I wish we had been outside when this happened.  I felt and still feel horrible for him.

I realize I can be a terrible person but I was amused that 1) someone scheduled a topic about whether affairs could ever lead to happy marriages and 2) Meaghan sat quiet as a church mouse through the whole thing while no one looked in her direction.  It seemed an opportunity to reference family history.

I will go sit at the shame table now.

Can I join you?  Meghan never acknowledges certain things that happened.  Especially if they happened before she was born.

And not that I'm proud of it but my late husband was married when we became involved. He divorced her and married me and we were married for ten years before his death. I am an urban legend. Most married men do not leave their wives for the other woman.

I think it depends on why people leave. If someone meets someone and falls in love, how can they stay with the spouse they no longer love. Not fair to the spouse. Every one deserves to be happy.

My husband and I separated after  he began  seeing another woman. We were separated about a year. We became friends again and decided to try again. The other woman was gone after couple months. Our marriage didn't break up because of her ,she didnt help 😁 we had grown apart stopped respecting each other. Relationships are complicated. Nothing is black and white.

I haven't watched since the premiere, today I tuned in for the J.Lo interview. I found it so weird that she was asked if she had hesitation about performing is certain countries. Doesn't she do private shows for super rich questionable people? So performing for regular people shouldn't even phase her.

The Stand has been my favorite book since the day I cracked it open in '78 and I was very disappointed with most of the casting in the 1994 mini series. But, Part 2 of that series opened with Frannie and Harold listening to a song from 1986 by Crowded House (which belatedly became a favorite of mine; somehow, I didn't remember hearing it before). The mood and the lyrics were a good fit with the scenario.

It was the last song at their farewell concert in 1996, at home in Australia.

Mine as well. I'm 15 years older than her, and someone thought we were twins. Omg, she was in a mood for a month. I didn't get the big deal. Anyway, we don't speak anymore( sadly) and I'm no J'lo..lol

Our sisters are so much alike. I’m also the big sister and people constantly assume I’m younger. My sister has literally cried about it. She looks very young and has no reason to be sensitive about it.

I’m sad to hear you two don’t speak. I’ve gone through those phases with my sister, and it’s tough.

Whoopi is an icon, an interesting woman, talented, can be quite funny and lovable, but she does say a lot of things that leave me scratching my head.

Something shouldn’t have to directly impact you for you to care. And there’s a difference between being a loyal friend and defending the indefensible.

I liked this song much more AFTER I saw the miniseries!  It had to do with what you mention.  It was just perfect for the scene and made me appreciate it more.  I had not read it before I saw the miniseries but picked it up immediately after.  The book is so good.  I reread it every few years.  I heard some rumor a few years ago Matthew McConaughey was being looked at for Flagg and I liked that idea.  Who is slated for Flagg again?  I didn't agree with a lot of the miniseries casting either.  The guy who played Flagg was the biggest miscasting though.

Ugh Thanks Whoopi for hijacking the conversation again with her ‘what’s in it for me?’

The Biden ass kissing is becoming tiresome.

Thank you Sunny for at least acknowledging that Biden has trouble at these debates. IMO Biden is riding on Obama’s coattails and it doesn’t mean he’s the most qualified. I found myself tuning out or cringing every time  he answered a question. He does have a habit of veering off topic or not making sense at times. I don’t think it had anything to do with ageism. It’s a debate! Knock out your opponents! We’re always questioning Trump’s mental capabilities why not the Democrats? Even my parents in their 70s agree. My mom wasn’t offended. 🤦‍♀️ If And When Biden  wins the nomination, I really hope he sharpens up in order to go against Trump.

Again Whoopi stay home.

There aren't even any Host Bios, which they always had. Am I missing something?

In the real world, there is a real town called Derry, New Hampshire.

[On second read, the above sounds snarky. I didn't mean it as such. I was just trying to be specific. Apparently I have resting bitch font, in addition to resting bitch face.]

King's Derry (not Derby) is fictional, and it is Derry, Maine. Derry is only the setting for It and a few other stories, but then it is referenced in several of his other works.

However ill advised Castro's pushy question was, asking Biden if he didn't remember something that he had just said, I don't think he was engaging in ageism.  If so, he'd be doing the same thing to Sanders, but Sanders hasn't done anything that could be criticized on that basis.  Everyone ages at a different rate and experiences varying effects of aging.  I agree with Sunny that Biden's frequent inarticulateness is a potential problem.

Meghan's engaging in hyperbole again - Beto has not restarted his campaign 10 times, just twice, and this last time it wasn't to "create a splash"; he was genuinely affected, and horrified, by the mass shooting in his hometown, and the lack of concrete action taken by anyone to address the problem.

He mentioned staying at the Stanley Hotel out of season which became the inspiration (and outside model in the movie) for The Shining. Of course it’s in the middle of bustling Estes Park, CO and not the middle of nowhere. Stephen mentions a town in The Stand called Economy, IN. He must have seen the name on a map. You’ve heard of a one stoplight town?  It’s a no stoplight town.
