I agree, Bannana, and you said it much more kindly than I did.  And Sunny should not have mentioned it, as it did reflect negatively on him.   Sometimes she blurts out way too much private information.   I wonder how that goes down at home.

Re Gabriel, I wish Sunny hadn't shared that story.  But I do understand his perspective.  When I was young, in my teens, I was completely surprised to learn about how recent civil rights struggles in the US occurred.  Growing up it seemed like it was in the way past when it really wasn't so maybe that is what happened to him.  But the world didn't need to know that about him. 🤦‍♀️

I did not even see this and I have second hand embarrassment for the guy, jeez.  Between all of her crazy bunny boiling stories of jealousy with her husband and her pearl clutching over the horrors of teenage sex and condoms in school stuff, she really needs to stop talking about her poor family because she is doing them no favours most of the time.

Wasn't Jennifer Lopez supposed to be on today? Did I miss something?

I'm glad she wasn't. I was thinking that Stephen King would get the shaft trying to fit two guests in that way. Thankfully he had two segments to himself.

Today felt like Whoopi Day anyway. First she talks about vaping and cigarettes and marijuana, which she alone on the panel seemed to care about, then Stephen King is there for her to announce she's in The Stand. The last two films I've seen Whoopi in (For Colored Girls and that movie with Ashley Judd), she wasn't as good as I'd thought she would be, but I think she'll be alright in this role. I've seen bits and pieces of the original series. I could never get into it because the acting was really bad to me, although I loved Ruby Dee. That was sort of like the It mini-series from back when. Tim Curry was amazing as It, but the rest of the movie (especially the effects) was pretty bad. That's why I love the fact that the book has been re-made with today's technology, even if the clown will never be as good as when Tim Curry did it back when.

I was about 10, in the mid 1960s traveling in the southeastern US when I drank out of a "coloured" water fountain and a white lady told me it was not for me and that my mother should do a better job of teaching me how to behave in public.  Being from Canada I had thought the sign on the only water fountain I saw was a relic of the past left to remind people of how things used to be (like "Ladies and Escorts" entrances in bars).

So yes, it is amazing how recent some things are.  My grandmother could not vote in the US until she was 23. Not because of her age, but because she was a woman. It wasn't until 1965 that the US Voting Rights Act secured voting rights for racial minorities.

Add me to the list of those who were shaking their heads at Sunny's son's comment about "You were alive for 9/11??".      I'm assuming he knows how old is mother is; I'm assuming he heard '18th year since 9/11' on the news somewhere;  I'm assuming he's got a modicum of smarts since his mom is a lawyer and his dad is a doctor.    He couldn't put the clues together and realize she was no only alive, she was an adult on that day.   Maybe he's just really really bad at math.    And it's really all on Sunny for even repeating that story.   She should have realized how crazy it sounded.   I'd hate to be a child of any of the hosts, as nothing said or done at home seems sacred.

Joy seems pretty decent about Eve.  I had to google to actually see what she looks like, and even though I remember Joy mentioning her grandson's name now and then, I had to google it to remember.

Whoopi is also pretty good about her daughter, although I remember she was included in Whoopi's stand-up rather tastelessly - if she has sex I'm going to have her sewn up, etc,

It’s probably a good thing they decided to focus on 9-11 rather than chatting with a celebrity.  Well, that and two (count ‘em) two segments related to smoking. 🙄

Stephen King really looked good, I think he has had a little botox, such a great writer and person. I wish he had been more political, but he does that on twitter every day, thank you Mr. King! Mee-gun was nasty, as usual. I hate this show. What is wrong with me? I have to watch it for Joy I guess.

Why oh why am I being such a masochist by still watching this show?  There is only one person I can tolerate.   I love Joy.  Whoopi has become so annoying with her rambling and time wasting brain farts, Abby is a blah bland space holder with nothing to really add to any of the nattering, Sunny I do appreciate for her legal knowledge but the coquettish act really needs to go, and for MM, it’s all been said before.  She’s a bore.

Back to Joy.  Of course she talks about IQ45 everyday.  He does or says horrible and/or horrifying things every single day.  He wants to be talked about, he lives to be the center of all he surveys.  I feel Joy gets to the crux of his BS.  And a woman with a quick wit and joke is way out in front of the pack.

And I hate practical jokes and jump scaring people.  It is a cheap and immature way to get attention.  I had to quit Ellen for that reason.

I whizz through Ellen's show & only stop for the interviews & animal videos.  SO not entertained by the slap-stick, stupid jokes & scaring people.

I’m confused with MM going on about New York like she was in love with it.  I got the impression she hated it and can’t wait to get out. She’s attacked the minute she steps out of her apartment to come to work, and can’t eat in restaurants and only vacations in red states

Exactly! She talks about how harassed she is, how it's an elitist bubble, how "real people" live in the middle of the country (which apparently somehow includes Arizona), how creepy it is to be surrounded by liberals ... and suddenly today she's singing and dancing her way through two choruses of I Love New York.

What the hell happened?

Yes, I’m mean. What’s yer point?

He was polite to her and she was effusive in her praise of him, calling him a genius, which he cringed a bit at.

The interview was mostly about Whoopi and Sunny

I say different things about my country, but on certain days we come together. The US came together on 9/11, why not today & say somehting nice.

I can understand saying "something nice," but it felt SO FALSE when it was the opposite of everything she has said for almost two years. If she had prefaced it by saying, "I know I've said some negative things, but...," we may have given her "like."

I didn’t mean Joy has to stop talking about Trump but she really doesn’t have to turn every single conversation about Trump   No matter what the subject is she turns the conversation into Trump

To be fair, he is all over the place and is often a hot topic on the show.  I have no problem with it, Joy with her money and the privilege that it gives her will not be affected by his policies. Those of us who are not in her income bracket and who are not WASP have to worry.

There's another recent film she was in (the name escapes me at the moment) and I definitely felt that she was just being Whoopi in a costume, not Whoopi the actress. Kind of disappointing because for her all her faults on The View, she was iconic imo back in her heyday as an actress.

Right? , she was itching to say something.

Omg, the clown scaring Sunny, I would have left the building, I am scared spitless of clowns, creepy ugly things.ugh

Whoopi is going to be amazing in his new movie. All access though? Boo!

I ordered his book, actually audio book from the library.

I think she will be awesome also.  When i picture that character, W is not far off.  They need to age her some, add a shawl on her shoulders, in a rocking chair on the porch of her house in an apple orchard.  The Stand will always be my #1 book.  When he did the miniseries, the opening segment of it will forever be remembered as the BEST ever of any movie, tv show, miniseries.  The music was 'dont fear the reaper' by BOC, and the offices were seen from the CCT monitors.  In every office the people were dead at their desks or trying to get to the door, etc. And then that one car got out before the facility lockdown happened, thus exposing it to the world. It just chilled me to the bone. It was sooooooooo good!  I think its so terrifying because any second it could really happen.  And he wrote this, what 30 yrs ago?  Bloody brilliant he is.  Love that guy!

PS.. ditto clowns.  Thats what makes this so good!

Sometimes it seems all the other ladies get annoyed with Sunny. They all seemed over it during her tirade about the clown and stuff.

Also was JLo's segment cut? I was excited for her interview. Her new movie looks really good and she's been getting Oscar buzz for the first time in her career, so I really wanted to see her talk about it.

I’m thinking that’s why Joy was pulling a face because I looked at the tape twice and she didn’t speak/ ask a question during King’s  segment.  She was probably told not to bring up his fantastic  comments and tweets regarding Trump and keep it focused on Whoopi’s and him. There was no reason for her to be at the table.   MeGun told him what a great genius he was , apposed to a mediocre  genius..

Bridget have mercy on me , I’d like to lie and say I’m ESL but age has me incredibly inept in expressing myself in writing.  It’s awful.

Exactly.  That's how she "apologizes".  It's always halfhearted, it's always done in a childish, "It's not a big deal" way, as though she's saying the words under protest, and it's extremely bothersome to her and a waste of her precious time.

I wish TPTB would make her apologize again and properly after one of these halfhearted shrug-offs. Make her keep doing it until she gets it right, to make up for her never learning how to do behave in public as a kid.

I should clarify my previous statement about people who read frequently and their vocabulary. Sharpen your pencils! Hahaha! ✏️ Kidding!

When it comes to TV shows like “The View” or any other non-fiction program (where scripts aren’t used), I can usually spot the folks who are readers. It doesn’t show up exclusively in their vocabulary, but formulating coherent thoughts and engaging in other literacy based practices, such as listening to other people, are some major hallmarks as well.

FYI: Listening is a component of CA’s state standards in literacy for grades 6-12.  It might sound a wee bit impertinent, but it’s a huge part of the critical thinking process.

I agree with the posts that those scary pranks are mean. I like Ellen, but I am not a fan of her frightening her guests.

I personally have no clown fears and am a huge It fan, but I know wouldn’t appreciate my phobias being thrown in my face.

I believe Sunny is genuinely frightened by clowns. As far as Sonny’s jealousy, I think she plays it up to be funny. If she were truly THAT jealous, she wouldn’t befriend that sexy woman type like J.Lo.

How do you guys think it would go if Sunny, Manny, Jennifer, and Alex all went to dinner together? And let’s say Jennifer wore one of those barely there dresses she loves? Could Manny even look Jennifer’s way without getting in trouble? I’m a big Sunny fan and don’t want to think of her as this jealous psycho. I think most people play down their jealousy, but Sunny seems to play hers up. I’ve known some women who are so jealous they have no female friends or only ones who are unattractive. There are women far more jealous than Sunny.

I agree, I've said it before.  I think she plays it up, as you said to be funny and I think her husband might like the shtick of it, so it's their thing. They both get a little buzz from the jealously back and forth.

Sunny has many many friends. Lots of beautiful women in her friend group. I dont think she'd have tens of people in her home any given weekend if she was the real jealous type. She'd keep her husband to herself.  I think she thinks it funny and imo her husband loves it, so she amps it up more for his benefit.
