ElectricBoogaloo August 9, 2019 Share August 9, 2019 Quote As Ruth grapples with major doubts about her path in life, Bash and Rhonda go on a spending spree, and Cherry and Carmen pick up a new side gig. Original air date: 8/9/19 Link to comment
Lady Calypso August 10, 2019 Share August 10, 2019 I definitely wasn't expecting a six month time jump, but it seems like it was needed. Debbie and Tex are still together, which is kind of nice. Debbie deserves some happiness and Tex seems like a great guy. And now, she gets to produce something other than GLOW. I mean, she didn't expect it to be an underground AIDS fundraiser for Bobby, but hey, she'll take what she can get! Bash/Rhonda are already heading into some issues. I'm surprised it took this long, but Bash is already not having sex with her and Rhonda is catching on that something isn't quite right. Plus, I'm not thrilled with the way Bash and Rhonda are handling things with Sandy. They're starting to get a little cocky because Bash now had a lot more money. Cherry is thousands of dollars in debt and I like that Carmen decided to help her out. Plus, we didn't have Cherry go into stripping, which is good. And now, for Ruth. She's stuck in a rut because of GLOW running on autopilot and it looks like Sam came to her rescue with the role from Justine's movie. That could be good. 5 Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo August 10, 2019 Author Share August 10, 2019 I didn't mind the time jump because it's realistic that the Vegas show is on autopilot which means the days kind of blend into each other as they do the same show over and over. Meanwhile, we got to see what's happened during that time without having to experience it in real time: Ruth is bored, Debbie has become accustomed to a life with Tex that involves having a driver and being given horses, Cherry has gambled herself into a huge debt, and Bash has gotten even more obnoxious as a producer now that he has access to his $40 million inheritance. At the rate that he's running through that money, he's going to be broke soon. 2 Link to comment
thuganomics85 August 11, 2019 Share August 11, 2019 Part of me thinks the time jump was in preparation for this potentially being the show's last season, but I think it worked in establishing that the GLOW show has been in a rut, and almost everyone has moved on, except Ruth, who seems to staying in one place. But it sounds like she might end up getting a role in Sam and Justine's film. Hmm... Glad that Debbie is still with Tex, and is preparing to get her producing shoes on for Bobby's AIDS fundraiser. Oh, boy, Cheryl seems to have a gambling addiction and is the hole by thousands. At least Carmine is helping her out, even if it is leading towards the underworld of mud wrestling! Rhonda and Bash continue to grow apart. And spending money much too easily. 4 Link to comment

tennisgurl August 14, 2019 Share August 14, 2019 (edited) Aaaaaand time jump! Its now been awhile, and while most everyone is moving on in their lives, Ruth feels stuck in a rut. I guess anything, even over the top wrestling battles, gets old after awhile. Glad that Debbie is still with Tex, he seems like a good guy. And he got her a horse! Now thats a keeper! Oh Cheryl, looks like she is developing a gambling problem, which is really an issue when you live and work at a casino. Glad that Carmen was there to help at least. Really great music this episode. This show always has a great soundtrack, but I thought this one worked especially well. Edited August 14, 2019 by tennisgurl 3 Link to comment

I do find it amusing though, that the (real) love interests for Debbie and Ruth are much older men. Polar opposites, but still much older. And per their general luck of the draw, Debbie's with the rich guy, and the guy Ruth wants isn't. 1 Link to comment
Danny Franks September 21, 2019 Share September 21, 2019 I really liked the opening shot. Very early 2000s music video. I was surprised it covered as much time as it did, though. Still incredibly not into the idea of Sam and Ruth. Nothing the show does will sell me on it. Russell and Ruth is pretty boring too, of course, and has clearly run its course. But fucking Sam Sylvia is the exciting solution to her problems? Tex and Debbie are different, because his self-assured, sanguine personality is a great antidote to Debbie's neuroses. Cherry and Keith still haven't reconciled, and she's drowning her sorrows in gambling? That was unexpected. I liked Denise, and her Vegas-savvy practicality. 'You want to make money? Exploit your body.' But mud wrestling is so weird. The WWF used to have women do it, and I never got it at all. It's not hot, it's not titillating, it's just gross. I like that Sheila is finding herself, and I really loved her sentiments in the camping episode, that she "has so many things [she] wants to do" and the wolf thing was a crutch that was actually holding her back. This was quite a melancholy episode. Not many laughs, just a downbeat look at the grind of life. The show needs more Bobby snarkiness, if the women are all going to be this disengaged. 2 Link to comment
aradia22 November 27, 2019 Share November 27, 2019 I didn't love the beginning. It feels like the kind of thing someone thinks is artistic but just gets tedious very quickly because it's not communicating information well. Melrose is still seeing the prostitute!?! And paying him??? I really wanted to see Carmen's date. Cherry's in for $5000? How much does she make in the show? I don't like Shepard anyway but is it just me or was that scene from True West not impressive? I don't think Sheila is a great actress. Maybe we were supposed to see that but from my perspective, it just seems like Ruth was looking for a reason to be discouraged immediately, not like Sheila is some savant. Rich rancher's wife Debbie is mildly interesting. Not sure the point of the mud wrestling but at least we got some wrestling again. So Bash hasn't had sex with Rhonda for 2 months. I guess he thought he'd act the part and then drop it once she felt comfortable. But Rhonda is proving to be more clever than he gave her credit for. She hasn't been distracted by the money and the things. Everything seems to be leading Ruth to Sam. Still find it boring. Link to comment
aradia22 November 27, 2019 Share November 27, 2019 Quote But it sounds like she might end up getting a role in Sam and Justine's film. Hmm... I just finished Fosse/Verdon before starting this show. Justine said the movie is based on her life but then she pivoted to talking about the AV Club. I hope Ruth just plays a teacher or something and not a version of herself who is in a relationship with the movie version of Sam like Ann Reinking in All That Jazz. Link to comment
