How Much Is Too Much Marvel and ‘Star Wars’? Disney Rethinks Franchise Output
BY AARON COUCH, BORYS KIT    FEBRUARY 16, 2023

... Now, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Loki season two and the Samuel L. Jackson-led Secret Invasion are the only sure bets to debut this year. Even projects that wrapped months ago, such as the Hawkeye spinoff Echo and Wakanda Forever spinoff Ironheart, are unlikely to arrive in 2023 as the studio spreads out its content and tinkers in postproduction. And shows in development, such as Nova, are now on a slower path.

Loki Season 2 - October 6

The second season of Marvel Studios’ Loki with arrive on Disney+ on October 6, 2023. Picking up immediately where Season 1 left off, during 2022’s D23 Expo star Tom Hiddleston teased that viewers will find Loki in a familiar, but strange, place. "Loki is back at the TVA, he’s had a very difficult confrontation with Sylvie, and Mobius and Hunter B-15 don’t know who he is." Only time will tell what happens next.

2.) A Glimpse into Loki Season 2

Along with The Marvels costumes, Marvel Studios also brought some new looks from Loki Season 2.

This included a crazy (space?) suit that Owen Wilson's Mobius will wear, a new TVA uniform, a fly new look for Tom Hiddleston's titular hero, and Sylvie's Season 2 look.

Same. The trailer does look good but here's hoping there's way more Loki and Mobius together and way less Sylvie. I am more excited now after watching it than I have been about this show.

Disney has revealed that it has spent $141.3 million (£110.6 million) on pre-production and filming of the second season of its Loki streaming series as it attempts to reinvigorate its struggling Marvel Studios division after a string of critical and commercial failures.

No expense has been spared on Loki Season 2 which cost more in pre-production and filming than many big screen Marvel movies including Doctor Strange (£102.7 million), Thor 2: The Dark World (£99.4 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy (£91.1 million).

How Marvel officially added McDonalds to the MCU
By Jeff Beer   August 18, 2023
https://www.fastcompany.com/90940349/mcdonalds-marvel-loki-disney-famous-orders

Quote

There are more than 13,000 McDonald’s across the United States right here in 2023, and untold more across the multiverse. In a new campaign launched this week, the fast-feeder gave Marvel and Loki fans a peek at its own cameo in the series’ upcoming second season, set to launch on October 6.

“As Featured In” is the Golden Arches latest Famous Orders meal campaign and, instead of being tied to a particular artist or character, it celebrates all the instances in TV and movies that McDonald’s has appeared or been mentioned by characters: Friends, The Office, Seinfeld, Space Jam, Coming to America, and many, many more. But at the center of the campaign is Loki, one that hasn’t even happened yet, which is probably appropriate for a show that revolves around the multiverse and many different timelines.
*  *  *
Long after his conversation with Di Martino on the Citadel set steps, Wright and his team were developing season two, and they were finding it difficult to pick up a new Sylvie storyline. She had just killed He Who Remains in season one, where does she go?

“When we stayed in the view of character, this woman who went on the run as a child, had been running through time, a fugitive of time, living in apocalypses, never being able to relax or slow down, the novelty of walking into a 1980s McDonald’s looked appealing,” say Wright. “You play a Little League game and go to McDonald’s. You go to a kid’s birthday party at McDonald’s. Someone like Sylvie would never have experienced that, and would be really taken by that.”
*  *  *
Flatley says that while “As Featured In” has a laundry list of movie and TV appearances, the idea itself came out of the collaboration with Marvel. “Loki got us thinking about how our brand actually has all these moments across pop culture, and then looking at the reason why,” says Flatley. “It’s a really powerful shorthand for people coming together, for shared moments in our restaurants or over our food. McDonald’s has appeared over all this work globally because of that shorthand and the iconic nature of the brand.”

Ratings: Loki Clocks In With Disney+’s 2nd-Biggest Premiere of 2023
BY MATT WEBB MITOVICH    OCTOBER 9, 2023
https://tvline.com/ratings/loki-season-2-premiere-viewership-1235057838/

Quote

Loki‘s Season 2 return delivered the second-most viewed Disney+ season premiere of 2023, by amassing 10.9 million views globally after three days streaming on Disney+. (A “view” is quite logically defined by Disney+ as “total stream time divided by runtime.”)

The Loki premiere’s viewership trails only the Season 3 premiere of The Mandalorian, which in March racked up… well, more than 10.9 million views. (Disney+ hasn’t denoted the ’23 title holder’s tally.)

‘Loki’: Tom Hiddleston on Finding The God of Mischief’s New Family with the TVA
BY RACHEL PAIGE   October 5, 2023
https://www.marvel.com/articles/tv-shows/loki-tom-hiddleston-tva-family

Quote

“The stakes are higher, the clock is running down, and reality is going to be destroyed including everyone in it and everyone he loves, so Loki is propelled by this momentum and this urgency to try to put the brakes on the dissolution and destruction of reality,” Returning star Tom Hiddleston explains. Not only is he trying to save the timelines, but more importantly, he’s trying to save his newfound family — Mobius, Hunter B-15, Casey, and everyone else at the TVA.

“Loki always struggled with family in the MCU, but he’s found a new family in the TVA,” Hiddleston continues. “In the breakdown of understanding himself and having his sense of self opened up, broken down, and rebuilt by Mobius and his colleagues at the TVA, there’s a new awareness and a capacity to connect with other people.”
*  *  *
“He’s a character who, as long as I’ve played him has been searching for meaning,” Hiddleston adds. “Even when he wasn’t aware of it, he was full of grievance and anger and emotional destabilization because he didn’t feel he had purpose or meaning. He was looking for meaning in the wrong places and now I think he’s found a way of giving himself purpose, which is to try to reorganize, to help Mobius and Hunter B-15 and the TVA.”

2  Loki (2021-Current)
...
Time travel is used all over MCU canon-compliant media, and the hit show Loki is no different. Loki is captured by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) at the end of the alternate timeline from Avengers: Endgame. He spends season 1 traveling through time and space with Mobius, a TVA agent, to stop threats to the Sacred Timeline. Since time travel is so embedded in the idea of this show, it doesn't feel out of place. While it's a serious series with a complicated plot, it also stays loyal to the Marvel style and uses Loki's sardonic humor to balance it. The sets are really successful in establishing different times, and it always feels like being in a different world.

What's more engaging is, "Is Mobius going to look at his life? Why isn't he going? Why doesn't he want to? What is that going to feel like when he actually does get a glimpse of it?" That is always going to be more engaging than, "Who are we killing?"

I have to say, great attitude,  wish more Writers/Producers looked at shows in this manor.

The Loki Head Writer Answers All Your Season 2 Finale Questions

Now that we’ve seen the season, we know what the bookends are: Loki going from the He Who Remains aftermath to becoming the man at the end of time himself. Tell me about getting from point A to B.
[ERIC MARTIN:]
The big idea was taking Loki from a lowercase-g god, to a capital-G God, powering him up to that place where he gets his throne—but it's not a throne he wants anymore. This is a duty. He's doing this so everyone else can have their lives. He's giving up the thing that he wants most so that everyone else can have their free will… We wanted to power up his abilities, but also his wisdom and knowledge.

Are we meant to understand that he’s suffering?
I leave that up to interpretation. That final image is meant to be ambiguous. So I'll let people make up their own minds there. If you look into mythology, someone like Atlas is an interesting person to look at with that.

Since season one of Loki dropped in 2021 and the world was introduced to the loveable badass, Sylvie, how have you found the surreal career-elevating experience? It’s been a thoroughly deserved whirlwind so far.
Yeah, it’s been wonderful and it’s really nice to be in a show and part of a franchise if you like that has a fanbase already because there’s lots of people who have said nice things and I’ve got loads of followers on social media but that also doesn’t really matter to me all that much. What matters is that people enjoy the show and connect with the character and it’s great to be working with people like Tom [Hiddleston], Kate [Herron], Gugu [Mbatha-Raw], Wunmi [Mosaku], and Owen [Wilson]. I mean, what a great opportunity. It’s just been really fun and still sort of seems like a fever dream.

It just seems like some crazy dream because I’m still sitting here in the same house, eating the same cheese and ham toastie for my lunch. It’s not like my life has drastically changed. It’s just that now, I’ll WhatsApp message Owen Wilson occasionally. It’s so surreal.
*  *  *
Given how season two of Loki ends on an optimistic note for Sylvie and anything could happen for the character moving forwards. In the future is there anything you would love to see her do?
I would love to see Sylvie do anything, I think whatever she does, she’s going to do it with fight and she would probably surprise everyone by doing something that you don’t expect. I’m very fond of that character… who knows Cameron!
