I love episodes where people get dressed up. Marianna looked fierce in that sparkly silver tuxedo dress, with her makeup and slicked back hair.

Jazmin looked gorgeous as always & the dance was beautiful. I didn’t know Jazmin was a veteran. She deserves her damn dog tags! Wtf does her Dad think he’s doing keeping her dog tags; I mean it would be douche thing to keep a family heirloom from her, but her OWN TAGS from risking her life.

Who knows how much I will be able to watch as my DVR didn’t record the entire episode due to a rainstorm.

AND my episode cut off when Joey told Alice she didn’t like their pronouns.

P.S. Malika’s Dad is a user and a scammer.

Jazmin looked really great and her party looked super fun, and I really liked having a bunch of characters who dont normally interact get together in one space.

As much as Callie says she choose Jamie, I think that she is still hoping for Gael to eventually work out for her. I mean, she not even telling him about the party, only for him to hear about it from Jazmin, must have really hurt him. Mariana made a good point when, after Callie was like "what about Gaels feelings" she reminded her that Jamie has feelings too!

Malika finds her dad, and hits the dad jackpot! He was a panther, oppressed by The Man, said all the right things. No way do I trust this guy, especially as he shows up to crash right after he meets his long lost daughter. Although it is kind of rich for her brother to be so unforgiving towards him, considering how many excuses he made for their crappy neglectful mom and how he gave Malika so much shit about being a bad daughter because "its her mom" like thats the end all be all.

I agree. It was disappointing that they create a character with such a rich story - there are so many possible storylines based on - yes - yet another character, that would fit the general *diversifying as much as possible* in the show. But going to his newfound daughter to ask for help because he's being evicted? How did he do all those years before when he needed some kind of help?

One thing that I wanted to see more in the show is a little more of the real problems when it comes to diversity. There is a lot of bigotry inside the groups represented there, plus the intersections of race, sexuality, gender, class, etc. In the real world, at least some of the characters would mess up really big, showing their biased views, and not simply acknowledge them and apologize. There would be conflict. I would like to see this addressed a little more in depth. Bringing transgender people to the forefront is great but ignoring to mention how they are still excluded from, sometimes tolerated but not fully included in  many LGBTQIA+ organizations and events is not a secret.

I like Mariana's boss. I hope they don't mess up with the character by making him to be some needy neurodivergent guy who has never experienced a relationship because he cannot understand all the neurotypical societal rules and then Mariana saves him from his little world. That would be disrespectful and wrong, besides completely uninformed about how neurodivergent people deal with relationships that have rules that do not fit their way of existing.

Did I miss anything or they did explain why Davia and Dennis were not there? Are they going to ignore other coterie characters on every episode? It was Alice in the previous episode. Budget woes?

I don't mind seeing people actually get along and respect each other. I feel like I'm buried in misery porn. There are other things going on on our lives than being degraded. I like seeing us happy, having friends and allies and collaborators. If we never see people who have a healthy attitude toward others, it starts to be an exercise in masochism to watch, and also there's no modeling of decency. I want more representation of people who are not bigots and bullshitters. For ages and ages, the only things we ever saw were bullying and bashing and despair. I love that there's a show that represents for solidarity and allegiances.

I've been worried where they're going with Evan, too, but so far I like that every time they've set it up in a way that makes me worry, they've gone a different direction. Like when he saw Mariana and Raj having sex, he calmly reported it to HR so they could make a policy to protect the workplace, and they didn't turn it into some bullshit about him being jealous or having some other unprofessional response. Honestly, in that situation, it would have been totally reasonable for him (or anyone) to react much more harshly. M&R are being really reckless and she really should NOT be dating someone she supervises.

This show seems to be so far the rare exception to TV portrayals, where they do better than I expect with most things... at least so far.

I'm wondering if they are headed for Callie deciding she wants a poly relationship.

So this may be me being me, but at first when Malika had scenes with her Dad I thought we were supposed to infer this was a fantasy. And then when it turned out to be real we (the Audience) were supposed to go “oh no malika be careful” because it’s clear as day to US this guy is LYING HIS ASS OFF. He may have been in the Black Panther party but I also believe he was a drug addict and possibly dealer and that’s why he was sent to prison. He knew where their Mom was all these years (he wrote her a letter which she got) but he never stopped by? Never inquired about his kids the entire time he’s been out?!! Ummmhmmmm.

Whats Malika’s boyfriend’s name again? He has this guy’s number- but of course he cannot say exactly what he thinks because Malika will lash out. I’m not upset with malika for wanting her Dad to be this awesome guy who’s like her- her mother showed her no love and mistreated her, now her Mom is dead. I just don’t want her heart broken.

I guess this is possible. The way the show is directed/edited is sometimes annoying to me I if this is the case I probably didn't pay enough attention to the scene.

No I think it was a real scene, but the way it was staged it’s obvious this guy is too good to be true and Malika is set up for heartbreak. Her boyfriend even saw it coming .

Then he shows up to her home and tells her he’s going to be evicted. User and scammer should be his middle names.

Adopting polyamory would be peak Callie, since she has a new crush every three weeks, can never drop a love interest, and is obsessed with giving them all just enough attention to ensure that they'll stay infatuated and prioritize her random whims over any subsequent long-term relationship if they dare to try and move on.

I'd like to see her pitch being in a throuple to Gael and the other dude, but Callie strikes me much more as a "I'm dating other people and you're going to be ok with it" type of poly.

I like this show but sometimes it feels like nothing but a lecture - changing topics every week.

Also Alice's partner Joey is starting to annoy. Though she was cool at first but nothing Alice does seems to be right/enough.

So, I clearly fell behind on this season so I'm catching up on the episodes that I've missed, starting with this one.

I feel really bad for Jamie, but I also realize that I also feel really bad for Gael, who is also stuck in a sort of limbo when it comes to Callie. She can't make up her mind, or maybe she doesn't have the balls to say "hey, I clearly like Gael more so I'm choosing him" so she's really screwing both men over. Jamie's feelings are going to get hurt, but so are Gael's if she continues with this "Gee, I'm so torn on which boy I want to be with!" And no, I do not buy for one second that Callie's reasoning with Jamie was correct in any way. She wasn't really choosing him. It's just a really sad situation because I like Jamie and I like Gael....when they're separate from Callie. Of course, Jamie isn't a main character so we haven't really seen him much without Callie. But Gael's scenes with his family this episode were excellent. It showed me that Gael could be a really solid character if his main plot wasn't centered around Callie.

Alice and Joey are alright. I still am not totally fond of Joey, and haven't been at all, but I do appreciate that we're seeing the rough spots in their relationship. I like that Joey was the one who was in the wrong and they had to apologize to Alice. I liked seeing Alice stand up for herself and tell Joey that she needed some more time to figure things out.

I don't know whether it's the long break since I've seen season 1, but I don't think I was extremely fond of Jasmine. But this episode, she was much more tolerable and I did really like her reunion scene with her grandfather. It was very sweet.

Malika meets her father, which....does sketch me out. He feels like someone who would absolutely use Malika for his own gain, especially since he could have clearly reached out at any point.

I like Evan. I'm not so sure I love the implication that Evan likes Mariana. I like Evan's growth as an individual character. I like Evan seeing Mariana as a friend. So I guess we'll see where that goes. I like Raj as well (he has his flaws, but is an overall good guy), so I also don't want him to get hurt in the process.
