can someone tell Meghan depression is a chemical imbalance of the brain that leads people  (including very very very very very rich people ) to commit suicide. Did she forget about Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain already?

Telling people with a chemical imbalance to just be grateful and suck it up is what causes the guilt that encourages a lot of victims to harm themselves and not talk to anyone.

When Meghan brought up Perot during the show today, I thought, "Did Perot inspire Meg's treatment of Joy?" He said "Stop and listen" and I immediately thought of Meghan telling Joy that it was her job to listen to her.

If a city/country can successfully pilot and implement programs like the ones Yang was talking about, good for them. I don't think America is ready for ideas like that when they're still struggling to convince large segments of the population that healthcare and education should not be a privilege for the rich. At the very least, I hope he's made available real-time data and studies that demonstrate previous successful attempts at this program and reasonable measures that can be undertaken to expand those programs in a way that is inclusive to the entire US population which is pretty damn big. It's great to say that you're going to take money from the 1% to pay for everything, but what does that really look like? I'm under the impression that the increased taxes for the rich strategy is going to be put toward this stipend for life program and services like marriage counseling as opposed to healthcare and/or education?

You make some very good points @RHJunkie.  I think Basic Income would be more doable in countries that already have universal health care and other programs that assist the disadvantaged.  The idea is not that money would be siphoned away from existing programs, but that with BI, people would not necessarily need other assistance, and it helps improve physical and mental health.  So you invest in the BI for everyone, and those other costs begin to go down.  The concept is that everyone is entitled to a BI.  It also reduces a lot of bureaucracy.  Every program that is created to assist segments of the population comes with its own rules and regulations, and that creates more bureaucracy.  With BI it is just paid out, no rules.

There is data that demonstrates that with BI, people did not work less or quit their jobs.  And in addition to making life easier for those who are struggling economically for any number of reasons, it also allows people to actually pursue the work that they want.  So, for example, if you want to be an artist but there is no way that you can earn a living wage, BI would help people to pursue their dreams.

Yang did a poor job of explaining it, but then it would be tough to explain it on a show like the View. 😀

Also it would put a lot more money in the economy.  A $1000 isn't enough to radically change your lifestyle but it would improve your lifestyle.  People would have more money to pay bills, take classes, splurge on new clothes, save for retirement.  If you gave everyone an extra $1000 a month the need for food stamps would drastically decline.  Housing assistance would decline. People would be able to pay insurance premiums. The more you understand BI the more you like it.

I watched Sunny throughout the show today. She sat as far away on her chair as she could from Meghan and never once looked at her. Keep it up Sunny, and let the brat know that she isn't going to play nice with her. Meanwhile, MM was doing her grimaced, sullen face with many head swivels. I hope she gets the message that she is getting iced out by her fellow co hosts, and it's not going to get better.

The Ice Princess is getting iced by her co-hosts.

NutMeg posted on Instagram before returning to work on Monday, and the image she posted was very telling.

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/meghan-mccain-posts-cryptic-instagram-153000757.html

People were as offended as we were by Nutmeg's comments about marriage counselling to her is about drinking JD and shooting guns.

https://ca.news.yahoo.com/meghan-mc-cain-receives-flack-for-her-version-of-marriage-counseling-drinking-jack-daniels-shooting-some-guns-202316527.html

According to this article, it is not a negotiating ploy, it is all about the leaks! 🙄  And they talk about the body language between Sunny and NutMeg since her peeps have accused Sunny of being the leaker.❄️

Dunno if / what tweak(s) Joy may have had, but she’s def looking prettier and more youthful, and not just around the eyes.  MY cataract surgery did zip for me, facially, and I hope she spills the beans - I’ll vote for Yang to cover my “work!”  And carrying on with superficialities, Megs looked awful today, heavier -  and I guess we’ve now seen her real hair.  No wonder she wigs out so often.

Not so ludicrous. Investigate it.  It will reduce other social payments.

I saw him on Maher and I liked what he said about this money.  Take the large industries such as Apple, Google, Amazon, make them actually pay taxes and THAT is how you get the $.  They currently pay 0.  Not so crazy.

I am loving that you all are watching.  I get to hear what is going on and know when to check twitter!

Yeah..."ScorpiosRule," I find myself reading posts into the late-night/early-morning hours and then commenting on things that might be several days old.  I don't think I'll stop until someone slaps me.

Meghan said she'd show her kids the Brandy version  of Cinderella (a Rogers & Hammerstein version) because, "It's a lot less weird than the Disney animated one."  Uh, you work for Disney, you idiot.

You would think that would be another strike against Meghan, wouldn't you?  Plus, I don't get what's so "weird" about the Disney animated version.  It was a cute cartoon that was made in 1950.  For it's time, and since, it's a nice little fairy tale - a fictional story that has a happy ending.

Maybe she thinks it's weird because she relates more to Cinderella's wicked step-mother than she does to Cinderella!

Bippity-boppety-boo to Meghan!

I forgot to mention.  When they watched the vid clip of the Kardashians, Whoopi slowly slid off of her chair onto the ground.  I was very impressed with how agile she is, she had no trouble getting back up.

I think she meant to continue the bit when she got back to the table, but Joy and Sunny either didn't realize or didn't care and they just started talking about the topic.  The camera kept going back to Whoopi in anticipation I guess that she was going to do or say something funny, but the co-hosts kept talking so eventually gave up. 😆

I could not care less if a flaky, uber rich Kardashian is depressed, and Whoopi's reaction was great. I think you are right, Bannana, that Whoopi had more to say that would have been funny, but the others were taking it more seriously!

Two things can be true at the same time: The Kardashian topic should have never been on the show. Whoopi's antics were stupid.

Are the Kardashian discussions along the lines of paid product endorsements ("View Your Deal")? They really diminish the show IMO

Someone upthreas said that Joy was too busy trashing Trump to get to her third book. I think she only had 2 anyway. There were two on the table and then Whoopi cut off joy and said something like is the “Audie cue getting both of them”. Whoopi’s not that quick to change 3 to 2.

A moment that bugged me was when they were talking about the USA women's soccer team, and discussing how they get paid less than the men's team.  It was a good discussion until Meghan spat out "the men's team SUCKS!"   This was after she said she doesn't follow soccer.

I don't know anything about the men's soccer team.  BUT - can't you advocate for fair pay without throwing out that the mens team SUCKS?  is it necessary to put down one American team in order to make the point that another one is underpaid?

Did anyone else notice (during Joy's paean to Michelle Obama's autobiography) when they showed a pic of Ms. Obama visiting The View - all the panelists were beaming save Elisabeth, who was dour (maybe scheming her nasty "freshness" comment, that seemed to adversely compare Michelle with Megun's mom. Doesn't seem quite so shocking anymore. )

I noticed, and thank you, TeleMachuS2!  I also thank whatever producer/ production assistant found and showed the photo--a model of the real Elisabeth.  That ill-bred "fresh" comment was a perfect example of a disguised slur from an entitled white woman.  Some Christian!

I haven't seen the mermaid "documentaries," but I'd assume their coloring (mermaids and merboys/men) depends on the colors of their parents.  Apparently one of Ariel's parents was bright pink, the other greenish--and one of them had scarlet hair.

She's lucky one of her parents wasn't this goldfish.  Disney would never have animated her. Goldfish.jpg.5a2ccfac5ff849a1a8b49ede361f7a78.jpg

I was away for a few days visiting family in Europe and just catching up. Ugh that comment from Meghan about shooting guns and drinking = marriage counselling really annoyed me. That’s too real to be funny imo. During my time in generally safe Ireland there were 2 women murdered by their husband/partner. It’s a worldwide scourge and to suggest that shooting and getting drunk is a way to solve problems is dangerous and irresponsible imo. There’s no shame in marriage counselling or any type of therapy but I guess Meghan was keeping up the conservative viewpoint that it’s for weak soy boys. And yeah as some of you said already let’s hear from her when she’s living full time with her husband for several years (and doesn’t have the benefit of independent wealth).

It's not just your opinion.  Meghan should have had to issue a clarification saying she was not suggesting getting drunk and having gun play is a good way to solve marital issues. The shit this twit gets away with saying is unbelievable.  We have seen a bunch of other co hosts have to issue apologies for things a lot less than this.

I found all of them women were ill-informed on the topic but Meghan's comment about the men's team sucking I found insulting because it's clear that her opinion is purely driven from a US context. It's not a US tournament, it's an international tournament so pay and popularity are not measured solely on how the men and women's US teams compare. For the reputation that Americans get internationally for being egotistical with the belief that nothing exists or matters beyond America...it's the Meghans of the world that lend to that negative assumption.

What all of them failed to acknowledge is that the prize money for these tournaments is based on estimated revenue. The reality is that while the women's tournament generates millions of dollars in revenue, the men's tournament generates BILLIONS! I'm sure if people actually calculated total revenue with prize monies paid out, it would guess it likely and quite often, the women get paid a higher percentage of their tournament's revenue as opposed to the men. It seems unfair to the US women's team because they have become the face of the tournament but these decisions aren't determined in an American bubble. If/when other women's teams win the tournament and prize money, it will largely be thanks to the competitiveness and popularity of the women's US team that have been the faces of this tournament for quite some time. If/when the men's US team ever wins, they will benefit from the competitiveness and popularity of other countries' teams and their investment in the tournament.

The only way to close the gap in actual monies paid out is for organizers to either take less (and even then there's no way the monies will be the same as the men's prize money) or they either combine the estimated revenues (or the tournament itself) and offer equal prize money for the winning teams. If the latter happens, the women will be earning a lot of their money from the popularity of the international men's team competing so will the men be okay with taking significantly less? This issue was not at all presented well on the show.

Argh, I’m yelling at Whoopi and Joy to find their words. The ones they want to hear from are the people using alleged sex trafficking as the excuse for separating children from adults at the border. That’s what Whoopi is trying to say.

Yeah, Joy definitely had her eyelids done, which explains why she wore the dark glasses for weeks, while they healed.

Man, Meg is hitting all the points today. She’s tough (check), everyone else is a snowflake (check), she loves to shoot (check), no kids (check), my father (check), everyone is mean to me (check)...

Does she NOT know who has the real power on this show?  Disney LOVES Everything Whoopi.  Princess, she got you the job; she can take it away.
