All of these women need Al-Anon or CoDependents Anonymous.  It's not anybody else's job to make you feel good about yourself.  If you choose to help somebody, that's because YOU wanted to help, they're not obligated to kiss your ass.  Period.

BetheME accused Luann of being selfish and self centered, and she is; but BetheME made Luann's issue about HER which is the height of self centered-ness.

Probably because Luanne didn't need or want  her help. Bethanny is just trying way to hard. Luanne isn't into her. Luanne doesn't seem to care about Bethanny because she doesn't. It's very clear since season 1. Nothing has changed.

okay, I'm going to take a different thought on Bethenny here. It sounds like she did a LOT more for Luann than anyone (except Barbara?) knew about, and it sounds like she saved Lu's ass from going back to freakin' jail, and all that happening just before/in the midst of Dennis OD'ing? That's a lot for anyone. 

So, the person she went far and above for (Lu) basically said "fuck you and the rehab you setup for me, and keeping me out of jail, I'm leaving to go do a BS cabaret show, clearly showing exactly what my priorities are" -- basically giving Bethenny a big ol' middle finger. 

At the same time, the person Bethenny was unable to help was the person she was in a relationship with and he died. So basically, what Lu thumbed her nose at and acted like the assistance wasn't a big deal was something Bethenny probably wishes she could have done for Dennis and then maybe he would have lived -- that's a lot of guilt to carry around. And Lu treats it like its nothing. She probably feels like if she'd be able to do for Dennis what she did for Lu he might still be alive. She's probably feeling guilty because she backed the wrong horse and that horse turned around and shat all over her. 

And then after all of that, the person you were able to help acts like Lu's been acting?  I'd be ready to rip her throat out too, especially if I'm dealing with all the custody bullshit and attacks from Jason on top of trying to help addicts whom she loves. 

She's held her tongue about what she did for Lu until tonight but clearly it was a lot and Lu has been ungrateful and unappreciative about the whole thing. Then complaining tonight because she got the last massage and the hair person was tired because everyone else had their hair done first? Someone had to be last bitch -- just as long as its not you? GTFO with that bullshit. 

Sometimes it really is the littlest thing that breaks the dam wide open. Clearly, that was Lou's making fun of Tinsley's slurring on one word in the midst of making a valid point is what Lu jumped on in order to try to diminish and discredit everything Tinsley was saying was some serious deflection bullshit on Lu's part and I think Bethenny was just done keeping it all in. 

I totally get why Bethenny snapped.

Totally - especially at this point - Bethenny, for all her braggadocio, is more than likely peri-menopausel.  That is when your period is the most unpredictable - you never know when or if you will get it.  

I remember when I was there - I literally carried tampons with me at all times, especially vacations.  For some reason, I always got my period while on vacation, even if I had only had it two weeks before.  

And, again, she stained another pillow - what is up with her and white pillows, for God's sake??

 Bethenney  has been supportive of Luann.  I think she let Lu's entitled behavior slide for months.  She is still dealing with Dennis' death and she just had enough if Countess Cabaret and lost it.  Bethenney was 100% correct in EVERYTHING she said to Luann.  Luann will take everything you give to her money, free rehab and emotional support and it never occurs to her to be grateful.  She feels entitled to everything she can get out of you.  The epitome of a user.

Luann sets Bethenny off like no other, and it is fascinating to watch.  Just the way Luann sneered down her nose as B was beginning to really spiral was incredible. It's like the flip side of the way Bethenny herself shut down Ramona that one time.  

But I really do need to know more about the intervention!  What happened?!  And how the hell did everyone keep it out of the tabloids?!  Piecing the bits of info together, it seems that Bethenny and Barbara did a hell of a lot for Luann's financial, personal/familial, and physical wellbeing.  And while it almost certainly is coming from a place of grief and guilt rather than true reason, I understand how, looking back on that time, Beth resents that she spent time on Luann's issues as her boyfriend/best friend/whatever was struggling himself.  And now he's dead, and Luann is living large.

And it's interesting that both Tinsley and Sonja kept saying how much Luann enjoyed telling her story at AA.  It's another stage and adoring audience for her.

That is probably true.  The thing is, you don't help somebody, and expect them to kiss your ass when they're better.  You help somebody because YOU want to do it, and if they don't appreciate it later, oh well.  When you're in AA, you can carry the message to many, but not all will hear it.  You can't take it personally or else you'll be like BetheME, angry and full of resentment.

So you want to rip someone's throat out because they're not grateful to you?  BetheME acted like it was SHE who got Luann sober.  She, the great God BetheMEMEME did this for her and Luann needs to bow down.  Why did BetheME help Luann really?  Probably because she wanted Luann to kiss her ass; and to me, that's why BetheME lost it, because Luann is selfish and didn't kiss her ass.  Like I said, you don't help someone because you want something in return, if you do that shit, you'll be full of resentments if it doesn't go the way you want.

This episode - wow! I know I'm in the minority, but I've always liked Bethenny. I think Luann not checking in with her much about Dennis really triggered her and I guess just set her off so all of her feelings about his death just bubbled up on top of her frustration with Luann. Luann must have been at least somewhat comfortable with Dennis at one time because Bethenny talked about how Luann had asked him for money in order to buy the 6 million dollar home she originally wanted to buy upstate. I mean, if you feel comfortable enough to ask to borrow that amount of cash, maybe check in with his girlfriend and ask how she's doing. The fact that Lu didn't acknowledge anything the women were saying to her was frustrating to watch. She refuses to see any of their points and just makes excuses.

On a lighter note, I loved Tinsley this episode. It was cringingly funny to watch her talk to her date about her mom wanting her to have babies but her not being sure and that she might be ok with just chihuahuas. And then her stint in jail! Brett got an earful that night!

Also, Ramona hinting she may go after Brett? When he can get Tinsley? I don't think so. She needs to call Harry. Speaking of which, that picture of Ramona and Harry making out makes me nauseous. It's like they were trying to swallow each other. Haunting.

Completing a thought

Well, kinda from the other side of the pool:  Lu is insufferable.  Barb apparently has been there for her and she did leave her on her own.  Apparently Beth did help Lu out when she was drinking the second time around.  I get that they were pissed off with Lu's attitude.  Beth's total meltdown went from being pissed off at Lu about never asking how Beth was doing to my boyfriend/not boyfriend overdosed and died.  We got two me,me, me persons.

Speaking of Lu:  You got home last so you get your massage last.  You get everything last.  Sorry, you're not a special snowflake because you have a cabaret show darling.

Sonja is a mess.  I get that going to the AA meeting got her so depressed.  I'm not good at listening to other people's stories of their life that's not going very well.  It affects me deeply sometimes.

In some ways this was an incredible episode.  A shit show for sure but it was also very raw.

Holy Cow!  What did I just watch?  On one hand, I can understand the ladies frustration with LuAnn, but on the other hand, I think they went a little nuts with the pile-on.  She didn't deserve that!  I didn't find her 2 hour break from them all that egregious.  YMMV.

But that's the point.  In AA you don't share to help others, you share, you do service to keep YOU sober.  That's the point, in order to keep it, you have to give it away.  Luann is selfish and maybe that's why she likes to tell her story; on the other hand, her story could help someone else.

I think you can both offer help without consciously expecting anything in return or hoping to have some ammunition in your back pocket, and still feel taken for granted down the line.  When I help a friend (and not even for something as big as this!), I don't do it for thanks or to shore up IOUs.  But I'd be a bit miffed if later on, that friend couldn't bother to do the same when I need them.  

And with Bethenny and Luann, Bethenny's help has directly enabled Luann's Cabaret success.  And Luann is too busy enjoying that success to realize that.

Having said that, I can actually understand Lu's need for a swim, away from another boozy afternoon.  She seems to use swimming as a form of recuperation and peace.  But, she doesn't get to go off on her own, and then have all the amenities on offer (that she chose to skip out on) put on hold until she returns!  You make a choice!

Being a bit miffed is normal; the way BetheME acted, wasn't.  

I don't think Sonja was really affected by the AA meeting.  To me, Sonja's a little girl who wants attention.  She waited until she got in the group and then "lost it" because she wanted attention.  I don't think Sonja's an alcoholic at all; I think she wants attention....Dorinda on the other hand, well that's another matter.

No, you shouldn’t expect anyone you have helped to constantly express eternal gratitude, but a thank you and an occasional call to see how they’re doing is not only appreciated, but is what friends do.
