Something that might not be apparent--or maybe it is?--from the show is how small downtown Charleston is.  A lot of what you see on the show is not on the peninsula, but outlying areas like Mount Pleasant, Isle of Palms, West Ashley.

Another Charleston fun fact: Traffic is also atrocious because there's only one way in and out of the peninsula.   Even the backroads are clogged up these days.

So, it sounds like you are a local.  Do you know how far apart most of the cast members live from one another?

Am I the only one who doesn’t like Kathryn’s new house?  It’s weirdly 70’s inside.  I hope the bill goes straight to Thomas so she doesn’t have to pay for it.

Cheltsie’s kitchen tile belongs in a bathroom.  It would look great with her bedroom wallpaper.  I do love the sun porch, it looks like Cheltsie.  For all that she put in it, she could’ve found a new house for the same price.

Katherine is tall - very tall and has a larger bone structure than the other women.  With the extra weight, plus the ridiculous breast implants, she looks much bigger than the others, and I think that makes her feel insecure.

Katherine had the implants at the last reunion because Andy Cohen (of course) commented on them.

The problem was summed up best by, of all people, Tamara Judge of RHoOC. She said that when you get big implants you're wearing Size 16 tops and size 8 pants.  "You can't wear your cute little tops anymore because they don't fit.  And once you're into plus-size clothing, your choices are more limited and they tend to be too big around the waist and hips."  She had hers reduced.

Katherine is definitely shopping at Catherine's Stout Shop.  You can look great in larger sizes (look at Olivia Davis and those actresses dressed by Christian Soriano) but she isn't looking great or shopping right.

I literally only watched this show when I found out she was on it. Her season of The Real World was one of the last I even attempted to watch - and all I remember is that she loved vibrators, was goofy and that she and a dude named Randy (I think?) cracked me the hell up. She just seems like a more grown-up version of the goofball she was on The Real World. She hasn't always been perfect, but I think she's always been genuine. And maddeningly gorgeous.

Even without Thomas, these men are looking rough. Shep looks like his insides are revolting, and like he's a few months pregnant. His skin looks gray.

I think wasn’t it Brad?  The episode where he has to go to lock up for the night and calls the house drunk?  Something to the effect, “I’m in jail...I’m locked up beyotch.”  Pure comedy!

The men...gross.  It’s bad when Craig and Whitney are your best options...

Chelsea and Cameron may be the two prettiest bravolebs out there.  They’re both skinny, but I don’t think either appear unhealthy.  Naomi has gotten too skinny in my opinion.

Craig is a very good looking guy; unfortunately he ruins it when he opens his mouth.   I don’t fault him for not actively pursuing the legal business.  I’ve done it.  It sucks and if I had a back-up I’d have jumped at it in a heartbeat.

I’ve never been much of a Naomi fan.  I think she absolutely pursued him to be on the show.  We just didn’t focus on it as much because she didn’t need the money like Kathryn did when Kathryn pretty much slept her way on the show.

I’m sorry, but just because Thomas is a dirtbag doesn’t mean Kathryn is all of a sudden the pillar of virtue.

$6,600 a month in rent makes me think Kathryn is banking on Thomas’s legal issues resulting in full. Ustody and major child support.

Not exactly.  I live about a hundred miles away now, but I went to high school in the area and my parents are still there.  My father taught high school in Moncks Corner, and he retired right before Kathryn would have been a student.  I was two grades ahead of Cameran's husband at my high school.

I don't really know about distance between cast members, and they seem to move around from season to season.  Patricia's home is right downtown.  Kathryn said in the latest episode that she is now south of Broad.  In a previous season, she had a place in Mt. Pleasant, about fifteen minutes away across the Ravenel Bridge. 🙂  Shep was downtown at one point, but he's now in Isle of Palms, about a half hour from Charleston, again depending on traffic.  Chelsea's place is in James Island, about ten minutes across the Ashley River.

Good points, but, I don't have an issue with Naomi pursuing Craig in the beginning.  Even if true, I don't think that in her wildest imagination, she could have known the extent of his medicocrity.  lol  But I don't fault Craig for not practicing law either.  It's VERY STRESSFUL and challenging.  Hard to stay Zen, imo.  But, it seems the only thing that he wants to do is make pillows, well........not really.  He wants to pretend like he's making pillows.  lol  But, if that works for him, that's his choice.  I really wonder if we have ever even met the real Craig.

How does one generate an income and can afford to pay an Operations Manager by selling 10 pillows a week? Apparently this operations manager isn’t very good at her job if there’s just “nothing” they can do to amp up production. Maybe instead of paying this lady, pay some people  to sew some pillows? Here’s an idea. Naomi has a staff of people lounging around waiting to put a pair or two of booties into a shipping box a day. Maybe align forces and give those girls some sewing machines.

Another point about Shep: the bike story just shows how selfish he really is.  I'm glad Austen and Craig called him out on that.  He's frat boy, man-child shtick was funny S1 thru S3 but now it's just tiresome.  Yawn, show SOME growth or get off my tv b/c you are boring!

As far as Whit and Kat goes, enh Ive always wanted to see them at least try at a relationship but this whole secrecy stuff makes it seem like Whitney is still embarrassed to be seen with her.  :(

I wish the editing wasn't so choppy when Kat was spilling the tea to the other girls about her and Whit.  GURL!  I wanna know if he's good in bed!!  What is this he's not bad business ?!

I'm not sure what to make of these home based or semi home based online product businesses that are so popular now.  Some people fill orders from products piled up in their garages.  I used to wonder how you made any profit, but, then someone that I knew revealed to me that her little home business brought her MORE profit than her regular 40 hour per week job! (She worked in healthcare too.)  She did very well at it and it changed my mind about that kind of thing.  But, I would imagine that if you are doing okay financially, have some investments, get your Bravo checks, etc.  that you have to have something going on with your day to present on the show.   That's why Craig has brought the assistant in.  I don't think it's that he's so concerned with it really working....it's just a setup for him this season.

I suppose that Chelsea really does do hair...anyone know?  And, as Cameron told us, she is not really working in real estate sales, because, being a mom is too time consuming.  I get it, though, plenty of women do it.

They make Charleston look awesome, but, I have quite a few friends who went there for their honeymoon and none of them were that ecstatic about it.  They said, yeah, it's nice, but, not much to do. ( I know it's their honeymoon, but, most of these were couples who had lived together for years before marriage.) They said it's not what they expected.  I guess there's more to do it if you know the place well.

Not a lot to do, really?  I'm 2 hrs from Charleston and I would say there's a lot to do.  There are sooo many restaurants, museums, shopping, historical homes, old cemeteries, Fort Sumter, Patriots Pointe, sooooo much to see.  Yeah it's not as fast paced as NYC or LA but enh that's why I like it.

Yeah the traffic  is stupid there.  I highly recommend just find a parking garage and do a walking tour.

Is the point of Craig’s pillows that Craig actually sews them? I might possibly have the teeniest tiniest desire to spend money for a Craig-sewn pillow, but I would not buy one that he had basically nothing to do with other than picking out some fabric.

It seems like a typical Craig thing that he isn’t focusing on designing and producing a run of really nice pillows and getting them into Charleston boutiques and on his website, maybe send a couple to charity auctions. I don’t think he’ll sell a million but he could turn a profit and look like he’s actually doing something creative and productive.

In general I like Craig and he’s making his Bravo check work for him, as well as doing paid appearances and such, plus charity work. And he is generally nice to women. He seemed stunned by Shep’s story about leaving behind the girl on the bike. Craig has become more attractive as the show goes on while Shep is increasingly deteriorating.

I was just there this past Spring; I was SHOCKED by the amount of traffic downtown. It would literally take me 12-20 minutes to get a Lyft anywhere. Apparently it’s gotten hella worse just in recent years as more people move to the area.

@SunnyBeBe, your friends must not know where to go/what to do when in town, because Charleston *is* awesome! Are they remotely into food or do they drink/party? Because some of the best restaurants and bars in the South are down there. Shopping on King Street is always a pleasure. There are a trillion fun historic home/plantation tours. Beach days at Sullivan Island(Shep’s hood!) are a blast. I’ve even met Shep, Austen and Craig while our bar-hopping(Blind Tiger, Stars Rooftop, Republic and Uptown Social are their hangs)—-all three were very nice TALL guys, much cuter in person. I know it sounds weird, but I kinda want to bump into a crazed drunken T-Rav, because that would be like the unholy grail of hilarity. I’d also just left Home Team BBQ at Sullivan’s and Patricia came in with friends not 10 minutes later, and I’m still bummed about that. The cast regularly hangs at Hall’s Chop House as well, and I can see why because it’s a fabulous steakhouse.

So I’m trying my best to get into this season so far. I’m just not there yet...watching them shotgunning beers in Chelsea’s backyard was like a really sad flashback of the mess that was SC Savannah. Sorry, but I miss seeing the juxtaposition of older rich/gross Southern dudes attempting to hang out with the younger set; it was a weird yet oddly watchable dynamic. I don’t watch this show to see chicks getting pedicures in gross Asian nail spas, drawling about how sexy they find guys who dip and drive pickup trucks, and to watch shitty backyard drinking games; I watch this for real estate porn, drunken humor, elegant events and old money shit like catered dinner parties in plantations, historic mansions and polo matches. And Shep is officially the new T-Rav, only a grosser, less-polished model; sad to think that Thomas actually aged much better than Shep apparently will.

Two episodes into this season and I fear the shark is dangerously close to being jumped.

I was just watching SNL with Emma Stone hosting.  Some of the cast was standing with her and because they're tiny, Emma Stone looked much bigger than she really is.  She's only 5'6".  I think that this is part of why Kat looks bigger than she really is.  Sure, she is tall and has put on some pounds after having two kids but I don't think she's as 'big' as one might think.  The women around her are very thin.  Also, her clothing choices don't help.

Tyson's obvious joy at going to the beach with his Grampa totally made my day.  I had to re-watch that scene three times.

I love Chelsea's house, and that she renovated it herself.  She's kind of a badass.  What did she mean by dipping though, I thought she was talking about the dance move.

I thought she meant chewing tabaco. Which confused and grossed me out.

Katherine sleeping with Whitney also confused and grossed me out. Why would she go there? I have never been her biggest fan but damn girl.  Respect yourself.  He asked her not to tell anyone again. He's obviously attracted to her but doesn't think she's good enough for him.🙄

Thanks for the tips.  AND the celebrity sightings! I love that kind of thing.  Perhaps, I need to experience Charleston for myself.  I'm in NC, so, it's not too far of a drive. If I were going to meet a cast member there and get a nice photo, I think I'd like for it to be with Patricia and Whitney.  Not that they are my favorites.

I don't believe that any of the rumored relationships between the long-standing cast members are real. They tried to imply that Kathryn-Shep were interested in one another last season.  The whole Austin-Chelsea-Shep triangle was super forced and fake.  Frankly, I'd be surprised if they haven't asked Cameran to fake an affair with Shep.  The Whitney-Kathryn rumor this year feels about as genuine, especially because we know who she's actually dating in real time.

Not the editors fault per se, they're just following the script used fro Vanderpump Rules.  It's just that most of the those friendships pre-date the show and are a bit more organic.

Why are they playing up this Kathryn and Whitney stuff?  I don’t buy that they’d have anything to do with each other, unless she really was a gold digger setting her sights on the next rich old guy.

They get rid of Ravenel and they’re in a hurry to match the young gold digger with another guy who’s 20-30 ears older?  Why isn’t the cast talking about them with “ewww” peppered throughout their conversations?

Now they try to show some cast being entrepreneurs.  Why bother?  Nobody believes that Craig, Austen make significant money from pillows and beers.  Or that Naomi’s little site is any more successful than Roam.

Only ones with significant income outside the show seems to be from marrying into a spouse with high income or family money.

Kathryn doesn’t even pretend to make money outside the show.  But her $6600 a month rent is also a fake story.  There was a commercial about Bravo and a sponsor decorating that house.  Producers probably footing the bill so cast members can talk about it.  How would Cameron know her rent?

Same BS as Landon renting a boat that one season and then next season she has this swanky home next to Thomas in the posh part of town — because they concocted a fake story line about Thomas and Landon fucking.

Chelsea plays up the tomboy.  She likes that her boyfriend dips.  Is that really a thing?  How many men over 17 still dip?  Meanwhile, she probably spends on her hair (now that she does shampoo commercials) and trainer but yeah, she’s just a down home good old girl.

🙄

Always keep in the back of your mind, all the guys(& women) on the show do have a jobs....they're on a TV series and being paid.   I seem to recall hearing Craig makes a few hundred thou for a few months work, - probably making better $$ than most newbie lawyers who didn't graduate from a prestigious law schooh ...and w/o the stress and long hrs.

Also, look at the prices of designer pillows, it's can be very lucrative moneymaker. Pat is selling one of Craig's pillows--sans insert, for $59.00 @

Bet that "operations manager" -- fancy name for assistant -- had to audition to be on the show and will probably be snarking on Craig at some point in the season.

Craig always spirals down during seasons after starting out like he's a new man, got his shit together, etc.

I don't think Chelsea is speaking "urban dictionary."  This is what the general public--especially the South and West means by "dip."   Dip is a form of smokeless tobacco that is cut more fine than regualar chewing tobacco. It is bought in a round tin that is a little smaller than a hockey puck.

Katherine is crazy to be paying $6600 per month for a rental.  The rest of them are buying homes, why can’t she.  When Katherine arrived at Chelsea’s new home, she looked pregnant.  Both that ensemble, as well as the one she wore to Patricia’s dinner seemed to hit her as an empire waist, when I don’t think either were intended to.

That's a lot for a rental and I live in NYC.   If you buy a house, it really doesn't belong to you, it belongs to the bank until you pay off the mortgage, and if you can't do that, foreclosure (seen that plenty of times).  Even when you do pay off your mortgage, if you can't pay the taxes, the government takes your home away, or the government can take away your home through eminent domain (seen that plenty of times too).  The way I see it, if you rent, you're not stuck.

Pretty sure the $6600 house rental is a fake story line.

Like I said, there was a Sherman Williams commercial about how they got inspired by her clothes to redecorate that apt. with bold colors of Sherman Williams paint.

So it's probably a sponsored thing and the producers decided to make it a talking point.  They probably are paying for it while they film and she doesn't live there year round.

Just like they paid for Landon's boat that one season and then the nice apt. next to Thomas in another season.

The show doesn’t pay the rent on more highly rated shows I doubt they are doing it here. Kathryn most likely got paid for the Sherman Williams thing even though it was just something that anyone can do using an app and there was no actual work done.

By her second season Landon had show money to pay rent on the new place and it wasn’t just close to Thomas’s house it was near her sister. Any place in the historical area of Charleston is going to be near Thomas because the area is small.

Chelsea finds this a plus?  eww.

I was thinking she actually said she thought it was sexy.  I can't.  Wonder how sexy she thinks it is to pace a surgery waiting room, while her man has half his of his jaw carved away due to oral cancer.

She did say sexy.

Guess she has crude notions of what makes men sexy.

Then again, I thought she lost her father when she was a kid and her mother and her sisters struggled and then her mother met some guy?

They went by her childhood home which belonged to this guy?

But then in this episode, her daddy came by to pick up her dog so that the guests at her party wouldn't bother the dog?

Her parents divorced when she was very young, it was her stepfather who passed away when she was 8 or 9 and than they struggled financially after that and that is the house she visited.

Now that she's on TV?

Was this guy around when she, her mother and siblings fell on hard times?

I have no idea where he was or if he paid child support the difference in their lives financially was because her stepfather was wealthy not her father. It’s possible he was also struggling financially.
