ElectricBoogaloo April 29, 2019 Author Share April 29, 2019 Is it wrong that I laughed when we found out that Jonah and Beth really are half siblings? Even funnier since he could never remember if they were half siblings or step siblings. I mean, EWWWW but also HAHAHA! I loved when he was berating his mom because she and Lloyd are second cousins and he said could have been born with something wrong with him. At first I thought that Andrew faked his death by blowing up the boat, but since Quinn explicitly told Selina that he "took care of it" like she told him to, I guess that means Andrew is really dead! I can't say I'm sorry to see him go because he was such a selfish, manipulative ass. I hated the way he was always trying to get money from Catherine. It's one thing to be an ass to your ex-wife, but your own daughter? I was just waiting for Youngblood to snap and punch Jonah in the face, but Jonah managed to achieve a black eye just from his secret service guy giving him a look. That guy deserves some serious pay. I love seeing Richard continue to fall upwards. Dan desperately clinging to his coattails is just a bonus. I'm glad we FINALLY found out what the Chinese government's plan was. Poor Catherine. On top of her post partum depression and the usual Selina stuff, her dad just died and Selina announced the proposal before it actually happened. I hope that Catherine, Marjorie, and little Richard are able to move somewhere far away from Selina sooner rather than later. Maybe in the last episode they'll announce that they bought some land in North Carolina and a yurt. 4 Link to comment

ElectricBoogaloo April 29, 2019 Author Share April 29, 2019 (edited) And OF COURSE Dan ends up hitting on the doctor who did Amy's abortion. That scene reminded me of what bothered me last season when Amy told Dan she was pregnant. Remember in S6.E4 when Catherine and Marjorie wanted to use Dan as their sperm donor and the fertility doctor said that he had a sperm had abnormally low motility and that it was unlikely that he would ever conceive? Don't get me wrong. I don't think that Amy was lying about Dan being the father. He was probably the only one she'd had sex with in months so she would know that he's the only possibility. I just think that the writers dropped the ball on that. What are the odds that Dan would be able to miraculously get Amy pregnant the one time that they had sex? I mean, it definitely happens but it seems a lot less likely given what the fertility specialist told him. I actually thought that's why Dan would change his mind about not wanting to have a kid and tell Amy that they could somehow coparent the baby together since it was extremely unlikely that he would be able to get someone else pregnant. Not only was he told this, but his attitude at the clinic was that he was a "frequent flyer," there. Knowing the brand of machine being used, and then afterward, giving Amy his "secret recipe" maxi pad for relief? Last season, it was unlikely that he would be able to father a child, this season, he's an expert on pregnancy termination? Yeah, Andrew blowing up was no biggie for me. I just hope he's actually gone and it's not a fake out. I didn't laugh too much last night, other than the birth certificate reveal. Jonah, this season, is over the top asshole. Before, he was just a pest, and the nicknames were gold. Now, everything out of his mouth is offensive. And are they really going for an incest pregnancy, now? This season, I'm all in for Kevin Dunn and Gary Cole. And Julia's wardrobe. But does it seem a little over the top and forced this season? Like the fact that they're struggling to be funny because the real life freak show is stealing all their best bits, and they feel the need to one up it? 7 Link to comment
zengirl1215 April 29, 2019 Share April 29, 2019 Though I'm sad that this show is ending, I can't say that I'm enjoying it as much as I used to. Like all good things, sometimes things just run their course, so it's possible Veep has too. That said, I still love JLD and think she's fantastic as Selina and her line delivery is still top notch. But I'm finding other characters almost unbearable to watch. Jonah, who was always "extra" is even more so now, and with each episode, it gets worse. And Amy...UGH! I don't know if it's the whole, let's make her like Kelly Ann Conway thing or she's going through some Post-Abortion mental breakdown, but she's so over the top now, it's a complete 180 of the character. It's like the show has gone off the rails. 😦 5 Link to comment

I thought Dan having more than one sex partner who had an abortion to be believable since he is a man whore. And he kind of addressed his frequent flyer status when he was told that his sperm had low motility: Doctor: Well, your sperm count looks normal but the motility is abnormally low which means, I'm sorry to say, it may be virtually impossible for you to conceive. Dan: Seriously? Catherine: I'm so sorry, Dan. Dan: So I've been pulling out this entire time for nothing? I am going to save a fortune on morning after pills. There are like three girls that owe me an abortion refund. 1 1 2 Link to comment
PrincessPurrsALot April 29, 2019 Share April 29, 2019 I remembered that earlier scene with Dan too. He did have previous experience with abortions even though he may or may not have been the one providing the sperm that led to conception given his low motility. I did have several LOL moments last night. Kent introducing himself to Mike's daughter with his full name and title. The woman who had been deported calling Selina President Montez and JLDs perfect response. Furlong's insults to Jonah. Of course Jonah married his half sister and his mother didn't see a reason to tell him they were blood relatives until they were married. Yes Jonah, you were born with many things wrong with you. I don't mind that he's now so extreme because the people who used to keep him in check are gone. Amy is judging by crowd reaction, and his crowd is reacting positively to all of the worst things. Jonah needs Furlong, Teddy or his uncle to keep him line. In the early seasons he was trying to suck up to the higher ups at the White House. Now he has free rein to be the horrible person that he is. 1 8 Link to comment
Roaster April 29, 2019 Share April 29, 2019 I am surprised they killed Andrew. I didn't like him being around (and the series is ending anyway), but still surprised they went there. Gave Selina a chance to be genuinely sad (and hence more human). Midway through the episode I did think Andrew and Selina would set up Marjorie as the fall guy. She quickly eluded their trap. Catherine has been a basket case all season, but Marjorie has stepped up and become one of the best characters on this show. 5 Link to comment

I also liked Gary calling Selena's stretch marks "wisdom stripes." And Richard replying to the question, "What do you know about pesticides?" with "Not as much as I'd like." The SS agent making Jonah flinch and give himself a black eye was a fantastic moment. Some of us were saying that Amy's motivation to work on Jonah's campaign was to get a more important job, but apparently it was also to work against Selena and make her look bad. Or worse. I've been enjoying the season so far, but this episode was too relentlessly nasty and dark for me, aside from a few funny moments. The insults are clever but too much. Maybe I've just become too conscious of the parallels to current events. I know it was there before, obviously, but maybe it's my mood. The performances are still outstanding. Oh, and I didn't get it last week, but I finally caught onto the 7/11 as 9/11 joke. Edited April 29, 2019 by peeayebee 1 Link to comment
iMonrey April 29, 2019 Share April 29, 2019 I can't see how they get to the general election at all when there are only 2 episodes left and they are still in the primaries. I guess it's possible that Selina clinches the nomination in the next episode and then the final is the general election but that's a lot of territory to cover in just two half-hour episodes. I honestly have no idea where they're going with this. I will say it feels like they are just checking off as many real-life parodies as they can, with the birth certificates and so on. And now Jonah has his own version of "lock her up." I got a chuckle out of someone in his unruly crowd yelling "kill her!" and him responding "Yeah, maybe!" 3 Link to comment

Trump said that he would raise Cruz's citizenship question if Cruz won the primaries. And John McCain is not a good example since at the time of his birth Panama Canal Zone was an incorporated territory of the United States. 2 Link to comment

Joimiaroxeu April 30, 2019 Share April 30, 2019 OMG, the dialogue in this episode was off the charts. Nicer death threats. A little bit of autism. Leather-bound hobo toilet paper. I think mostly they are just trying to get (re) elected, and are out of their league with virtually anyone else in the arena. So it ends up being treason but the intent was more like a bribe to win. tennisgurl April 30, 2019 Share April 30, 2019 I love how Richard keeps managing to stumble into more and more success. It isnt falling up, because he keeps doing things right, just he has seemingly no real ambition, not like the rest of the cast, but his good natured charm and naivete just keeps on letting him climb higher and higher, now with Dan along for the ride! I kind of hope that the show ends with a fast forward with Richard being sworn in as president. I kind of knew it was coming, but finding out that Jonah and his new wife are half siblings was still hilariously fucked up. Way to go, Congressman Slenderman. Love that Marjorie knew right away what Andrew and Selina were up to, and that she shut it down. Andrew has always been a slimeball, so i cant be too sad about him being blown up. "Kent Davison, Chief Strategist, good to meet you." Ben and Kent are always my favorite, especially as a triple act with Selina. 9 Link to comment

DrSpaceman May 2, 2019 Share May 2, 2019 Still not convinced Andrew is dead. SO was Jonah born in Canada, and wouldn't that make him ineligible for the presidency?
