I thought Sonja’s apartment looked dated from the outside and inside. Better than her townhouse though. The pink walls and black or navy lacquered doors sounds awful. She had what I assumed was a fake Birkin in some of her scenes. No way can she afford a $14,000 handbag.

I think it's mostly the eyelashes....the NJ housewives wear those super thick and long false eyelashes (with eyeliner to hide the lash track) that it makes their eyes look so dark and actually seems to weigh down their eyes.  There were several scenes this season where they weren't all made up, and they look so much younger and fresher (especially Melissa and Delores).

The NY housewives seem to wear more natural looking eyelashes (except at the reunions), so it makes their eyes appear larger and less closed in.  

And, I have to say - even though I think that a lot of them looked a little rough in the opening scenes tonight, the NY housewives to seem to have really good skin - they look younger than their NJ counterparts (who are mostly all younger in age than the NY ladies).

Seriously, Tinsley.  Grow the phuk up!  That driving scene was pretty painful. I believe the car is a rental/promo. Not buying this Scott sent car from Chicago. Then the most expensive car, too......you would think there is a lot of parking in NYC. 

Noooooooooo!  Sonja’s old apartment is epic!  Don’t like her new dump. Whenever her ‘Assistant’ brought her breakfast......she literally turned around and was right there at Sonja’s bedroom door. HA!

It is moving to me that Bethenny and Luann are supporting each other, that they are able to put differences behind them.

My favorite Ramonas are Earnest Self-Made Businesswoman Ramona and Getting After Bethenny In Order to Get Into the Scene Ramona.

The paint job is never gonna happen.  Sonja went to Home Depot and got those free paint sample papers.  She had them taped all over the apartment.  I counted like 20. 

Was the couch on the foyer where the ‘Assistant’ sleeps? It looked like a futon.  Omg!  That wall phone  above it?

This is already so much better than the BH dog fight - which seems to be dragging on and on. 

It is interesting to see how the friendships from the first episode will shift.  Luann has said she and Bethenny will end up fighting a lot.   And it looks like Luann and Ramona end up on good terms.

They also (for the most part) dress beautifully. Cashmere sweaters and scarves, designer dresses and jeans, expensive leather boots but always understated and classy. They may add a few hair extensions here and there but don't pile on the awful super long, super thick extensions like NJ and Orange County do. 

Oh, and No, Sonja. Pink walls and black doors, just NO. I am in love with her dog, though. Didn't she have the groomer dye the dogs fur pink last season?

Yay they’re back!

I’d let Toonces the cat drive me before I’d get in a car with Tinsley behind the wheel. Speaking of her, she really does look so much better with the shorter straight hair. 

Interesting that B and Lu’s chummy relationship will devolve into fighting, yelling, and name calling, as the previews show. Yet, also, predictable. Because B seems virtually incapable of maintaining any real friendships for any length of time (Ramona’s talking head about the matter was shady as hell, but also rooted in truth) and Lu does seem like she can be insufferable at times. 

Sonja laying in bed waiting for her toast like the “lady of the manor” in that small apartment cracked me up. And of course—the curtains. Omg! Never change, Sonya.

My favorite Ramona is The RaNoodle.  If you hit 'mute' in that swimming scene so you can't hear the sexual harassment, she was child-like and adorable.

Ditto on the understated (mostly) elegant style choices relative to other franchises. This is part of why I like NYC the best.  Less makeup, lashes, extensions.  And with the exception of Dorinda's hideous pink Gucci sweater, less label-whoring.

I'm so happy NY is back!!  They had me laughing the first episode.  I agree with the posters who said Ramona makes them laugh.  I love her.  She cracks me up!

I LOVED Bethenny's look at the lunch at her house with Luanne and Barbara.  The hat, the side braid, the outfit.  Loved it all.

I liked Ramona's blouse also.  The one she was wearing at her Hampton's house when Dorinda arrived.

Beth and Lu have gotten even more comfortable and jokey with each other. I won’t like when they start attacking each other. 

Carole was in like three flashbacks; I kept expecting her scenes. Funny that I did feel her absence!

Ramona you make me crazy.  But that woman has figured out how to have a story line when she doesn’t have a story.  The swimming lesson was cringe worthy and I couldn’t look away. On a shallow note I really like that black one piece swimsuit and need to own it.

Sonja how have you managed to make a new built condo look like Grey Gardens in 1 month?  please do paint the walls pink and the doors black.  Did she say that was her daughter’s idea?  Does her daughter hate her?  This season Sonja’s TH are remarkably coherent.

Tinsley please stay off the roads.  It’s not cute.

Bethenny starts taping less than a month after Dennis’s death?  Yes what could possibly go wrong.  On a shallow note I too covet her jumpsuit, straw fedora, matching blue sunglasses.

Food porn was decent.  I too often have items catered in but damn comparing Ramona’s spread to Bethenny’s fresh and fabulous luncheon was kinda cruel.  To everyone following along at home the patio at Bethenny’s Hampton place was expanded to include dining table and a complete outdoor kitchen.  The insta looked really fabulous so I hope we get more of it.

I shall wait and see what the previews are all about.  I do not trust the edit monkeys.  Every year there is misdirection so for now I only accept that Lu and Dor are in a bad place.

Even though Bethenny isn't one of my favorite HWs, I do admire her for being one of the few people who stepped up and held an intervention for LuAnn after she relapsed.  Bethenny drives me nuts with her 'me, me, me' attitude, but in this instance, I'll say kadooz to her for being a true friend and helping LuAnn rather than being a bystander to the oncoming train wreck.  

Tinsley seems to get along with everybody.  I don't mind that she's a little goofy.  Her joy and positive energy is a nice change from some of the other heavy topics we're seeing on this show.

Yes, that was on Barbara but the second time it happened Carole called her, they spoke for half an hour and then they hung up, Carole immediately called her back to tell her that Carole had recorded the entire phone conversation. I mean who does that? That is some creepy shit right there. 

Then in late January the two talked again over the phone for a half hour, according to court papers.

As soon as Kavovit hung up, Radziwill called her back and told her that both conversations had been recorded, the suit says.

Between Dennis dying, Luanne being sued by her own children and going back to rehab after an intervention, and Dorinda coming off of that slurring embarrassment of a season last year, I'm not surprised this was a kind of bummer of an opening. I have faith we'll see it turn around quickly though. This is the one cast that always manages to move on, thankfully. 

Did not miss Carole.
