My personal view is that patients like Tiffany think they will lose weight, get the surgery, and keep losing, and then gradually go back to eating their fast food life, and won't gain.       I really wondered if Aaron cared, but at the end he seemed to be committed to the relationship.      I really don't think Tiffany will keep the weight off, and that's sad.

I hope Lola resolves her own issues with avoiding toxic people, and stops telling people like Tiffany to reconnect with abusive relatives.    And get another wig!

Exactly. Or they get the surgery and can just eat the way they used to because the surgery is a magic cure.

There used to be a little Thai place near me that served fries on the kiddie menu, and my friend's young son went ape shit over those fries. One day my friend and I tried them and OMG they fried them in whatever the heck McDonald's used in back in the late 70s/early 80s when I was a kid, and it was like stepping back in time and they were SO GOOD, lol. We were like, "pretty sure these were fried in asbestos and we DON'T CARE." The last time I had McDonald's the fries left a film in my mouth that lasted for hours. I cannot imagine eating that crap on the regular.

I was glad once her hair started growing out because that bad bleach job was doing her no favors. And good LORD I swear they have 4 Mad Libs scripts for this show. They all say the same things.

I tried to watch this in OnDemand and I get a message saying I need a subscription. This, even though I do get TLC and normally do watch M600LBL on OnDemand. I am so irritated.

Did she really talk about fried butter (mentioned in the Live Chat)? Because I have eaten fried butter and it’s kind of amazing. It’s Carnival Food. A chunk of butter - frozen, I assume - is battered and deep-fried and, in this case, served with raspberry sauce. 😀

What I don’t get is how these people never get burnt out on eating at places like McDonald’s, Taco Bell etc after eating it Every. Single. Day.

My husband and I will only eat crappy fast food on a Saturday or Sunday.  After a while we are just over it and  pick one for the sake of getting something quick to eat.

The last thing either one of us wants to do during the work week is wait in a drive thru

Sure Cooking can feel like a chore after working all day but really it gives us a way to talk ,catch up on how our days went, most of the time we are so distracted by chatting &  the “chore” is over with and we have a nice meal to enjoy.

If we spent so much money on fast food everyday ( especially more then once a day like these pounders) we would never be able to afford our vacations, cars, activities, new experiences.

These pounders complain about how depressed their lives are because they never leave the house or do anything. Yet they don’t realize they are the only reason their lives are so Dull.

There are good take out options. We have small chain sub place by us that is very good. If you are watching carbs you can get a wrap or a sub in a bowl. They have a low fat turkey with provolone (I get swiss).... add veggies and you have a meal . Their foot long are actually 15 inches so they can be easily split between two or three people. They also have mine subs. I prefer them to subway because their bread is awesome!

A few thoughts:

1) Tiffany's hair had to be one of the worst I've seen on this show, color and style.

2) Ladies- please, enough already with the messy hair buns or up-dos or whatever you call it.   I thought it was just a Southern thing on a Saturday at the mall or Walmart,  but apparently not.   It's not a good look on any woman, and especially not if you're chubby or morbidly obese.  I bet there's not one guy out there who thinks you look cute.

3)  I really can't stand that Cody guy.  I have to hit the mute button when the commercial comes on.

And what is with the 200 times they add "RIGHT NOW" to the end of the sentence? Now I am starting to suspect they do the voice overs after and the script is peppered with RIGHT NOW so we realize it was as it was happening. What do you think about this theory? She says: So I need to eat healthy RIGHT NOW. I need to stick with the diet RIGHT NOW. Of course the ubiquitous "I'm so scared RIGHT NOW" and I'm not happy about doing this RIGHT NOW. I think I will play a game and count the RIGHT NOWS the next episode. Okay I have to get back to work right now.

It's bad script writers at work.  Dr. Now said it a few episodes ago which really threw me.  For the voiceovers I agree they are trying to make it seem like they are really talking about the moment being shown rather that recording this much later.  I too need to get back to work RIGHT NOW.  😀

There are some good alternatives.  I've noticed Sheets now offers little snack packages of nuts, cheese and fruit.  Nutrition content is on the package.

I noticed that Tiffany was really intent on getting those fast food burgers into her system.  It was like a junkie needing a fix.  Disturbing.  You know, I'm trying to recall the last time that I ate a fast food burger......I can't recall, but, it must have been at least 7 years ago.  Have they gotten a lot better since then? Maybe, I'm remembering it wrong. lol  If I have to go to one, I get a grilled chicken wrap and toss the wrap or eat only a little of it. I think McDonald's salads are not good in my area.

Also curious as I am new to the Pounder life, why does their need to be obese shower porn at the start of every show ? I have a glass front door and a 55 inch teevee, I thought about draping a too small towel across the wide expanse of my door, but Mr Frauds was like if you get funny looks from watching this shit, too bad and then I  make him go buy groceries for fudgesicles and Rice a Roni, then stop at Wendy's for a few double cheeseburgers and then make him order from Anthony's Pizza Emporium for a late night snack. Thankfully, all I had all day was a few crackers, a go-gurt and some grapes...

The hubs and I almost never eat fast food because most fast food places aren't vegetarian friendly. The last time (unless you count Panera as ff) was a trip to PPG Paints arena where we had Impossible Burgers™ from Burgatory. And they were fricking awesome.

Those are fantastic. I'm not a vegetarian but have tried veggie burgers before with mixed results. The ones with actual veg in them are gross and the soy ones are just okay. I saw the Impossible Burger on a menu of a place we eat at often. I didn't want to order the shrimp tacos for the thousandth time so I asked the server if they really are that good. She assured me they are. I figured what the heck...... like you said AWESOME!

I am pretty sure this was the producers playing with editing, because she sat back down in it as soon as she left the rest room.  I am sure that the seat of the wheel chair was wiped before he sat down.   It wouldn't surprise me if they told him to sit.

I do want to see a follow-up on her.  I am wondering who will leave the relationship first.

Also, what is with this therapist telling her patients to write letters to their parents so soon in the therapy.  Write it in your journal.  Most of these patients probably need individual, group, and family therapy to get a handle on the pathological eating.

My understanding is the naked scenes are to show the damage, and the toll the weight has taken on their body.     Either that or the camera crews are meanies.          Some of them don't look too bad dressed up, but the nudes certainly show exactly what they've done to themselves with their massive intake.

I look better in clothes than in the nude and I'm nowhere near the weight of these people.

You are probably right, I'm sure if it wasn't wiped it was changed out.

As for who will leave first, I can see Aaron, that is if she goes back to her old ways. His eyes never sparkled when he looked at her.

Who the hell does she think she’s talking to when she demanded and screamed at the workers pushing in the wheelchair off of the plane “You all NEED to get me to a bathroom NOW.” It’s not their fault that you’re 700 pounds and can’t get yourself to a bathroom!! Did you see like 3 people scramble while trying to push her FAT ASS! So happy that she went in her pants. Karma at its best!

I think we were all screaming it at the same time, lol unless her ice-cream cone breakfast was made up of "grapes, crackers and yogurt"   nobody saw her eat any of those things ...P.S  the Refrigerator in the bedroom speaks for itself.. and volumes about her.

I'm just now finishing this episode, and after last week, I was just happy not to hear Tiffany screaming, "Aaaaaaaaronnnnn."

I think the first time Aaron really smiled (that I noticed) was when Tiffany drove the car.  I hope they can make it work.  I suppose that after Maja last week, Tiff didn't look so bad.

I rarely eat at fast food places because I find most of the food to be bland and boring. One of the few fast-food places I like is Chipotle because the food is seasoned nicely, and you can get food that's not fried and/or greasy. I could not imagine eating McDonald's every day.

I cracked up at the part where Tiffany said she had started journaling. She got out a notebook and opened it up to the first page, then wrote three lines in it. Unless she started her second notebook, there wasn't a lot of journaling going on. I agree with what someone said here that instead of immediately trying to get in touch with her father, she should have written in a journal first. It's helpful to get thoughts down and come back to it a few weeks or months later to gain insight and perspective. THEN, perhaps, you could think of a way that would be best to contact someone and the best way to get the message across. Perhaps you end up realizing that you are better off not contacting the person at all. It's no surprise that the initial contact did not go well, and her video that she sent later, and the way she sent it, was just cringe-worthy.

Many, many years ago I read either an interview with, an article about, or a biography of, Julia Child. In it she was quoted as saying how much she loved McDonald's French fries. This was before McDonald's made the changes you touched on, and the article you linked to described in detail. I remember how the fries used to taste many years ago.

Three years ago I was on a road trip and when I stopped to get gas, there was a McDonald's next door. I hadn't had any fast food for 15+ years at that point, but I could smell the fries, my mouth started to water, and so I got a small bag.

They were awful.

I have no interest in ever eating another fast food fry ever again.

I think it's pretty universal now.  Most all of the chains use the same oil that does nothing for the taste.  It's probably better nutritionally, but, if I'm going to have fries, I'm not going to waste it on terrible ones. lol

Does anyone know what Tiffany's husband did at work? I thought she said that he got a job in the food industry? Is that right?

I get McDonald's once in a while, and every time, when I'm done I think, okay, that's enough of that for a while. Usually I get a regular hamburger (sometimes 2) and a small or medium fries, and when I get it as a meal I get a soda without ice and bring it home and it takes me a few days to drink it (if I'm not going home or I'm actually wanting to drink it right then, I usually get water with a little splash of fruit punch). There's one location on my way to my friend's house and I used to stop there when he did game night (because he usually doesn't have real food I'll eat) but the last few times I did the buns were slightly stale. Once in a while I get chicken tenders but last time I got those they weren't good, either (then again, it was kind of late so I'm guessing I didn't exactly get the freshest-cooked batch). I don't really ever go to any other fast food chains. Sometimes if I'm in the mall I'll get a small chocolate Frosty at Wendy's in the food court - maybe a few times a year. And there's a local pizza place that is expensive but so good so I treat myself occasionally.

I actually have been tracking my spending the past two years, and I just looked at what I spent at McDonald's and the aforementioned pizza place - in 2017 I spent $118.38 on 19 visits at McD's; in 2018 I spent $53.66 on 10 visits. I got seven pizzas in 2017, nine in 2018, and they usually feed me for at least 2, sometimes 3 days (and I'm sure a few of them were split with someone else at the restaurant*; and they're super-thin crust and smaller in diameter than most places, so while I'm sure they've got plenty of fat, they're probably lower in carbs than most). They probably spent at least as much in a week on fast food and pizza as I did in the past two years.

*My mom and I went there a couple weeks ago and got a large pie with peppers and onions, and side salads. Their large is maybe the size of a medium most anywhere else, and I still took home three slices for the next day.

At least Aaron got a job.      I sincerely hope either they switched the wheelchairs out, or cleaned it off between her 'incident' and him sitting in it.    I'm sure it took a long time for her to change clothes also.        I really hate Lola's contact the father routine she's done with everyone lately.   She doesn't know any of the fathers involved, and doesn't know if yelling was the only abuse either.

The only fries I like are Five Guys, and the fries taste good hot, or cold.     I don't know what kind of oil they use, but it doesn't taste bad.

I wasn't sure what to make of that.   14 is too young for a learner's permit.  When I was 14 my mother took me to the parking lot at the mall for lessons  (this was back before malls were open on Sundays) so maybe she had had lessons then.  I am sure this had to have been a re-enactment because she drove okay in the parking lot.  I did worry that she might not be insured.  So I guess she has been practicing her driving somewhere and maybe has a Texas learner's permit.

I'm not sure how rural an area she is from, but in my boondocks forested area when I was 14 I started practicing driving on our little dirt street (there were only 2 other houses on it). No permit but the road was private.

Aaron is bullied similar to the way Assanti bullied his Dad who was paying for his pizza deliveries.  It is definitely out-of-line behavior and I’m in no way defending or sticking up for her, however, he’s also a grown man AND the financial provider in their house.  Dr. Now spoke to Aaron about “feeding” her and I’m sure he didn’t mean literally with a spoon, but more along the lines of, ultimately, he is supporting her eating habit~financially, physically and, by being submissive to her outrageous demands, psychologically.

Tiffany spoke of her Dad being abusive to (bullying) her Mom and in her session with Lola they discussed her “being respectful” to her Dad in spite of it.  Perhaps that is her subconscious measure of a love relationship?  I would hope that’s why Lola suggested she have a conversation with Aaron about what they’d each like their relationship to look like because how they’ve been conducting it has to change.

Just now I re-watched the grocery shopping scene - and I confirm that there seemed to be no actual real food in there, just packaged processed stuff.  You would never know this is someone who went to culinary school!   I am sure she has all the excuses handy - like her hip hurts, she can't stand long enough to cook anything, and Aaron is too tired to cook after working two jobs, yada, yada, yada.  Still, processed food just tastes processed... although at this point her palate has probably become desensitized to where she doesn't even taste anything other than the overwhelming amounts of salt and sugar.

I noticed that the Aaron was not eating with her when she was devouring cookies, a giant fast food meal and the pizzas.  Maybe he ate at work?  Still it's weird, when one person is eating and the other is sitting right next to them and not eating.  In my family, it was unthinkable.  Even if for some reason you ate before a family member got home, you at least had a cup of tea while they ate to keep them company.

I had really bad eyesight, like 20/400. I wouldn't be able to see the soap tray, safely get over the edge of the tub, etc. w/o my glasses. Thankfully, I wore contacts most of my adult life and that made a big difference - a shower w/o steamed-up glasses!

I had cataract surgery over a year ago. It was life changing. My uncorrected vision is 20/20 and 20/25! It's wonderful - though it took me over a month to stop reaching for my glasses in the morning or touching my eyes to take out my contacts at night.

Watching now.

Tiffany seems sweet, if a bit annoying. She seems fairly selfaware and not too whiny, which is nice to see. She is also either a bit dimwitted or forgetful, as evidenced by her not remembering that surgery is contingent on her losing the assigned amount of weight, not moving to Houston.

I hope that greasyhaired, homeless looking bitch in the parking lot that called Tiffany rude and impolite, and who had the entire empty parking lot to drive around her, somehow sees this episode on tv and sees what an asshole she comes across as.

I noticed snarky sideeye office assistant wasn't on this week, lol. I wonder if she was pulled aside and spoken to. i also noticed that Dr. No is really on a roll with calling people on their crap, lol.  That might be the show's new "thing".

The trainer was a really good idea for Tiffany. She has all the motivations in the world to lose weight, but they don't seem to motivate her.  So a trainer who can force her to move and make it fun and enjoyable was a good plan. I'm glad she finally got herself on track and started to drop the weight, and was able to get the surgery.

And I hope in the Where Are They now we see Tiffany cut off greasyhaired homeless looking bitch in a crowded parking lot to steal the last available spot.

It always amazes me that these women have boyfriends. And those boyfriends wipe their butts and only want to please.  They get them the food because they love them and don't want to upset them.

Why can't I find boyfriends like this?  I'd starve to death if I sat about yelling for food to be brought to me.

Yuck! he sat right down in that wheelchair after she admitted she'd just peed herself.  It was the only WTF moment in another dull episode.

The series needs a shake up and change of formula.  It's same shit different obese.

Pondlass1, this made me laugh!  I was thinking while watching 'what would Mr Tostandon do if I were to sit on the edge of the bed yelling for him to come help me stand up,  then immediately after my glasses wearing shower,  go to my bedroom mini fridge/ freezer, dig through the grapes & yogurts to find an ice cream cone & inhale that before breakfast,  which he is making'.  Then all of the fast food!

What got me was after she barked orders to her boyfriend,  mom & cousin to do for her,  she goes to the therapist & decides she needs to learn to become selfish and put herself before others.  Whose needs does she put ahead of her own self destructive needs?

Glad to see she finally got it together but I sure do not see babies in her future.

This was the first one I truly got angry about, and it was because of one specific scene. The parking lot incident, now I’ve read through chat and I know a lot of you got angered to the woman. That wasn’t it for me it was Tiffany’s I’m handicapped comment. At 33 I have arthritis in both of my knees and in my back, I can’t tell you how many days I wake up in pain. Yet I still average (according to my pedometer) over 3 miles a day. I get she’s obese but once (or if) she’s gets down to a normal weight she’ll be able to walk without issue, I don’t get that luxury. I know it’s such a little nitpick but it really angered me.

The one that wears glasses,And always has the “ I’d rather be anywhere else but here” look on her face all the time? I’ve always found her a little intriguing.

I bet she has a lot of interesting stories!

I can see it now...

”Int. Doctor Now’s office - night

A weary and worn nurse is illuminated by street light filtering through the blinds. She takes a drag of her cigarette.

“Penny? I haven’t heard that name in years....”

I hope that greasyhaired, homeless looking bitch in the parking lot that called Tiffany rude and impolite, and who had the entire empty parking lot to drive around her, somehow sees this episode on tv and sees what an asshole she comes across as.

Everyone in Houston who knows her sure has her number now.

Tiffany’s “I’m not used to putting myself first” self-pity whine to Lola was just bullshit. She’d manipulated her mother and then this week’s Chrissun (I know, Aaron) to be her enablers. She was passive aggressive or openly aggressive about getting someone to feed her the foods she wants. Yes, she’s not the raging bitch that Maya is, and she did figure out she needed to change. But she also wasn’t the delicate butterfly victim that she would claim. Dr. Now had her pretty much pegged as lying about her eating and her manipulating Aaron.

I’m glad she got surgery and started to turn things around. Hopefully she can figure things out, and she and Aaron can keep working things out.

I thought the line about the grapes and yogurt was hilarious considering not to long prior we had the whole Oreo, McDonald’s and then pizza event. I sometimes wish Dr Now would then pull out the camera footage, play it and then say “so do you still stand by eating just grapes and yogurt during the day?” And then of course there would be the rebuttal that by day they thought  Dr Now meant from 1pm-2pm, not all the way to first dinner at 3:30pm and he should be more specific.

I hope it is okay to mention in this thread--Has anyone ever gone online and pulled up that newspaper article on Dr.  Now that hangs on the wall on the weight check room?

I hope the nurse we always saw before during weight check comes back.  I liked her.

I think they are reading this board. Usually they'd just show Kassandra from a distance as she called out somebody's name. Yesterday I was watching a more recent show and the camera went right on her face. They know she has a fan club. 😄

Regarding the wheelchair.  IF the "pushers" saw any indication that Tiffany had "soiled" the seat of the chair, I'm thinking that there has to be a policy in place that would require that chair to be pulled out of service for sanitizing right away.  I suspect that they took that chair away and the one Aaron sat in was a clean one.

If you were Aaron, would YOU sit in a chair when your girlfriend had just finished bellowing, "Never mind.  It's too late.  Where's my backpack so I can change my clothes." ? ? ? ? ?

When it comes to the therapy sessions, it's rather difficult to judge based on a first interaction.  The therapist needs to establish a bond with the patient and make them want to come back.  So to a large extent there is an aspect of "don't challenge the delusion".   That is, if a person is dead set in their belief and you immediately challenge that, you'll lose them for good.  If you work with that, then you can over time move them into challenging it themselves.

Tiffany, like so many pounditicipants, sees herself as a victim who is taking care of others rather than a drain on everyone around her.  Let her work within that delusion while you work on building trust.  Then challenge the delusion.  Eventually leading to having her care for her own physical needs and be less of a drain on everyone around her.  Sure, it might enjoyable to see Dr. Lola say, "FFS Tiffany, all you ever do is think about yourself and your needs.  Do you need Oreos, hamburgers and then pizza after shopping?  Do you think Aaron may have something he would rather be doing than hustling up more food for you? Do you understand that moving to Houston was even more disruptive to people who had to find new jobs and ensure you and they continued to be financially sound?  Can you look past your own navel for half a damn second?" But that would only leave Tiffany angry and more convinced that she is a victim, thereby bolstering her delusion rather than leaving the chance that it could be effectively challenged from within.

Sure Cooking can feel like a chore after working all day but really it gives us a way to talk ,catch up on how our days went, most of the time we are so distracted by chatting &  the “chore” is over with and we have a nice meal to enjoy.

And in a case like Tiffany's she doesn't even work! She could make yummy, low effort, healthy meals every day for when Aaron got home from his job. She knows how to cook! There's no excuse at all for her, I mean, aside from her being a lazy, do nothing selfish shrew.

Also, what is with this therapist telling her patients to write letters to their parents so soon in the therapy.  Write it in your journal.  Most of these patients probably need individual, group, and family therapy to get a handle on the pathological eating.

I can't help but feel that this is strictly for the cameras. I'm sure the early days of therapy would be dullsville for the audience, so when the therapy scenes are re-enacted, they want to show the therapist offering something concrete that the patient can do.

I think we were all screaming it at the same time, lol unless her ice-cream cone breakfast was made up of "grapes, crackers and yogurt"   nobody saw her eat any of those things ...P.S  the Refrigerator in the bedroom speaks for itself.. and volumes about her.

If only Tiffany knew about sugar free jam!

Hahahahaha, Aaron finished his normal sized portion within a few minutes, but he's nice enough to sit with Tiffany while she shovels the equivalent of a family of four's weekly grocery shopping down her maw.
