Amen! I wish that people would remember that we are the majority. Plus, not everybody in the rust belt is Conservative. Plus, the largest bloc of voters in this country are those who are eligible to vote and choose not to.

I watched Fahrenheit 11/9 last weekend and Michael Moore made that exact point.  In almost every poll regarding just about any political issue (reproductive rights, immigration, climate change) progressives are the majority.  And yep 100 million didn't vote.  Meghan can keep kidding herself that she knows more than everyone else but she is in for a rude awakening.  And let's not forget Trump won the Rust Belt by very few votes. And let's not forget Trump was running against a candidate that a lot of voters didn't want to vote for.  A big part of being a political analyst is seeing the other side's point of view and Meghan refuses to do that.  I think she is such a poor political analyst I think her own husband's website would refuse to hire her.

I still didn't watch yesterday's episode, so during a break I decided to watch some of the clips from Youtube. I just watched the Louis CK one that was almost five minutes long. After I finished there were still commercials playing on TV. Not just one, but two or three. This show has longer commercial breaks than actual segments. Why can't that change for the new year?

It’s laughable that Meghan considers herself a political analyst .  Sitting there with a scowl on your face does not make you look smart!  If she is, I am!  And what was she trying to say to Joy, something about if Abby is a Trump supporter, “do you want to railroad her -“ off the show?  Did anyone catch that?

I heard demented wombat noises from the end of the table but didn't hear what she was saying.

I caught that,  Megan has a slick mouth. She did not like how Joy was questioning Abby about why she supports the President. It was very friendly and chill on Joy's part.

Literally and figuratively....as I mentioned earlier, that lipstick is soooo bad - too shiny and slick!   ;-)

If Whoopi goes to break (she should be home since she sounds horrible) then they should come back and discuss the topic that they stopped. They use to. I mean, I remember that they did that before, right? So why are they not able to do it again here. Let Sunny finish her point and then change the topic. If it becomes emotional or whatever, then isn't that what the higher ups want?

It is so annoying. They get all lathered up and in the middle (after only six minutes of the show) it is 20 minutes worth of commercials.

We already know now that they aren't going to finish the first topic!!

I think that Whoopie does this to protect Megan. She knows that Megan will have a temper tantrum and cannot handle it when she is challenged by Joy and Sunny.

Meghan interrupted significantly less today than yesterday.

I am going to take credit for this, as I tweeted to The View and Meghan yesterday that she interrupts  and screeches over the others and it's impossible to hear the conversation.

You're welcome.

I'm not watching anymore either, but still hang out here as well.  It was easy to quit watching, but harder to quit reading. Probably because everyone here is likable!

The only companies I know of that close around here over Christmas is home reno companies, because most people don't want their homes under construction at that time. But they go back to work on Jan 2nd.

Had to do a little Googling to understand the above, but I now see that Sara's pregnant again. Congrats to her!   About the chair, a similar thing happened at my sister's work. People who replaced the new mom on maternity leave kept getting pregnant.  I think they *did* eventually get rid of the chair. LOL.

I googled it as well...love Sara and super happy for her but the article I read it mentioned that Abby Huntsman was scheduled to be her replacement while on leave and now she's pregnant so now they've gotta figure out what to do. I didn't realize that Abby was potentially leaving.

When she isn't telling us she's from "Middle America." She alone knows how "the middle of the country" thinks and feels, in her own mind.

I've lived in both big- and small-town Illinois, Meghan, I'll gladly take you on about how the "middle of the country" feels. Here's a hint: We don't feel that Arizona OR New York OR Washington DC, all of which you claim as homes, are "the middle of the country."

of course, I"m joking about taking responsibility.  But I thought Meghan started the show looking upset, scowling and looking like she had been crying. I think she was talked to about interrupting, because yesterday she was out of control.

In the first part of the show, Meghan refused to yield to an interruption, saying "I'm still talking!"  I thought she was trying to make the point that SHE was not the one guilty of interrupting, she was the one BEING interrupted.    But then, Sunny got her right back, throwing the same words right back at her, when Meghan interrupted her.   Yeah, I do think that Whoopi saw that tempers were going to erupt, so she went to break.   But I wanted them to return to Sunny's point, which was that you don't "build a wall"  to keep out immigrants because of isolated incidents of violence.   The fact that they didn't made the argument lopsided, in favor of Meghan's point about seeing illegal immigrants as the enemy.

I'm sick and tired of hearing Meghan lecture Democrats on how to win in 2020, talking about the Rust Belt, talking shit about Nancy Pelosi, talking about socialism (which she doesn't even remotely understand) ect. Just stfu. You don't know crap, Meggie. Just shut up!

Right , Meghan should have shared her expertise with Republicans during the midterms.  Could have helped her team with that red wave.😆😆😆

And she told Meghan before the rest of her cohosts, according to MeMeMeMeghan, who also used this episode to mention a couple of things her other famous "friends" were up to over the holidays.  I suspect Elsa has no real friends, just acquaintances. True friends don't constantly name-drop.

She's an absolutely disgusting person.  I rarely talk about MM looks because there's so much more to dislike about her( I think she's very pretty in some pictures) but, she looks like shit today her face looked lumpy and swollen.

Meghan did say that to Joy.  Which makes no sense.  If Joy wanted or could "railroad" a Republican off the show it would be Meghan.

And what the fuck did Meghan mean when she said Republicans win over voters in states that matter?  Only red states matters?  Shut.the.fuck.up.Meghan.

Someone wondered about Abby’s husband.  I googled him and there’s not much.  He’s Jeffrey Bruce Livingston and is a principal at a large global investment group, dealing in private equities.  He also sits on a couple of boards.  The article I found estimated his net worth at 20 million.  I also didn’t realize that Abby had left the Mormon church several years ago.  So a bit of an independent thinker in some ways and at least her degree is in political science!

i also wondered, after the “I’m still talking” comments by MM (and joys retort) as well as the same comment by Sunny to MM, if the producers have finally indicated that the others don’t have to tiptoe around MM’s giant ego this year.  Hope so! And why can’t they send her to speech school to learn how to moderate her voice.  I get that they like the “fighting” for the ratings, but they don’t have to allow the screeching.  If the screech level was down a few notches it would help a bit.  I’d still yell at the TV but I wouldn’t have to mute it as often.

Maybe Abby was going to do both shows, while Sara was on maternity leave.  Now they have to find replacements for both of them.

My interpretation -  Meghan feels Joy is trying to railroad HER (Meghan), and Meghan sees it as the liberal bitch is trying to get her fired because she's a republican.  No, Meghan, it's not your politics, it's that you're an obnoxious bitch who can't listen to anyone else's point of view, and you think you're better than anyone else.

Meghan blames everything negative thing thrown at her on being a Republican.  She gets a bad Uber rating it's because of her politics.  If she has to wait for a table at a restaurant it's because of her politics.  I have no doubt if and when she is canned at the View she will use her politics as the excuse. In her mind haters are going to hate simply because she is a Republican.

I know people can't stand Abby... but she at least relaxes and has fun during the non politic topics. Meghan seems like a deer caught in headlights. She's almost too guarded to be on a show where you talk about a wide variety of topics. Wasn't the original concept of the show about women sitting around a table and talking about whatever came to their mind?

Meggie was so pissed after that first segment that she pouted through the rest of the show.

When Abby said that she and NutMeg both had two brothers who serve in the military so they see things differently, vis a vis Trump, then NutMeg went on to expand on this point and said:

The sins of Trump are not on all Republicans and Conservatives.  And especially for military families.  It is a different feeling when you have someone serving overseas and their life is in danger, than I think it maybe is for someone else, maybe it isn't, I don't know, but I will say don't underestimate how popular is he is in parts of this country, that if Democrats don't get their you know what together, he's definitely going to get re-elected, and right now, I am sorry, but some of the options you have coming up here, if it is going to be a Socialist in the vein of Ocasia-Cortez, you are not going win over the rust belt voters and there is always this complaint about the electoral process and how it works, but Republicans are better at winning the states that matter in the electoral college and if I were a Democrat I would be looking hard at how to win over the rust belt.

Then Joy and Abby said something about Nancy Pelosi and her leadership, and NutMeg interrupted Abby to snark that: no one is going to win over a rust belt voter like Nancy Pelosi from San Francisco.  Whoopi then shut that last part down by saying a lot of people in California came from the rust belt, basically pointing out you cannot paint a whole state with one brush.

So NutMeg thinks people who have military serving are more likely to what, like Trump more?  What was her point?  And on the day when the Democrats take over the house, she then decides to slam them as losers and announce Trump as the winner in the next election.  She is some political analyst.

I am not crazy about Abby, but I think she is trying to get along, fit in and be respectful. Which she should do, especially as a younger person, and a newbie. Megan, on the other hand, came in with an agenda, and only wants to discuss whatever she feels will further that agenda. So, nothing about babies (SHE doesn't have children!), popular culture (unless it's the Real Housewives), marriage (She's still a newlywed, so nothing to add there), relationships (unless it's her relationship with her sainted father, or one of her very close personal friends). Basically, she's not a very well-rounded person, and can only talk about what she (errrr or is that her husband) writes on her precious blue cards.

*Gasp* Why would Abby need a political science degree? Hasn't she also been in politics her whole life??

And funny, I was thinking the same thing about her voice today. Not only the volume, and the high-pitched screeching, but good grief, that vocal fry! She could seriously use some voice/elocution lessons. How does she expect anyone to take her seriously as a "political analyst" or even listen to her point of view when her delivery is like nails on a chalkboard?

So there's a lovely map of the new House, and Abby is explaining how wonderful it is to see so many women, and women of color.  Meghan has to interrupt to "shout out" for Dan Crenshaw.  I was so glad that they all ignored her.  There are 435 people there, Megs, and the topic was women!  But sure, let's call out a Republican male by name and attempt to hijack the topic.

A Republican male veteran.   I understand Meghan is from a family of veterans but her fixation on anyone who is a veteran is over the top.

If we have a 2008 kind of turnout, the rustbelt voters won't matter.  I'm so tired of hearing about them, I'm tired of hearing that we must respect them and figure out how to move them...like, what about EVERYONE ELSE?  Do we not matter?

Ugh MM gives me a headache.

I think the rustbelt voters are given so much import for the same reason Florida/Ohio/Pennsylvania are - the candidate who wins the majority wins the presidency.  Many rustbelt voters lack party loyalty, which makes them a particular group to cater to.  It is what it is.

This is when I changed the channel. Perhaps I wasn’t in the best mood today, and I know some people here said today’s show was more enjoyable than yesterday’s, but I was so completely over it by that point.

Who was it that asked Abby if Tucker was just doing this for the views then, since he’s such a GREAT person according to her? I didn’t stick around long enough to see whether she responded or not.

Megan was doing a lot of dog whistles today. Her crack about Nancy Pelosi and San Francisco is used by the right to jin up hatred against her and the city with it's large and vibrant LGBT community.  She has also become obsessed with all things Ocasio-Cortez. She is always mentioning her name, she is becoming the right's new Boogeyman. She scares the hell out of them and I love it.

Yup, she's due in July. In the E News article I read, it mentioned that Sandra is 1 and Alec is 2 so she's got a stride going here. In the article she said that her and her husband are terrified but excited and that they feel like they've just figured out how to manage their 2 kids and will need to readjust once again. Didn't at all sound to me like a planned pregnancy. Were her comments after Alec or Sandra? She did suffer from depression after Alec, add to that she was very honest about how insecure she felt as a mother and feeling like she knew nothing but then realizing by the time she was pregnant with Sandra that no parent really knows what they're doing...they're all just trying to figure it out.
