Hanahope January 14, 2019 Share January 14, 2019 So I'm late to the Netflix Marvel party. I'm working my way through the shows in order and finally came to IF. Only seen the first 3 episodes so far. I like Danny Rand, much more that all of the other Netflix Marvel characters. His personality is nicer and he seems like a good person. I do quibble a bit over the timeline. Its supposed to be 10 years since Danny "died" when he was 10. So he's 25/26. And Joy is the same age? So unless she was a real genius, she's only been out of law school for a year or two. And while I totally believe she's been involved with Rand since she was a teen, and her and Ward are presumably the only 2 "heirs", she still seems a bit young for her role. So Harold faked his death and only Ward knows? why not Joy? she seems ruthless enough. And why was his death faked? Command by Mme Gao? Some other reason? And is there a reason he hasn't aged in 15 years? that machine he was sleeping in? Something else? Oh, and did he have anything to do with the plane crash? I'm almost certain he/mme gao had a "hand" in that. Is mme. gao associated with the Hand? it didn't sound like that in Daredevil, I thought Nobo was separate from Mme Gao, but maybe I missed something. 1 Link to comment
Hanahope January 16, 2019 Share January 16, 2019 Ah, I did not miss anything from DD, M. Gao was not overtly associated with the Hand then, but she definitely is now. Up to episode 6. Harold, will he end up being a good guy after all? and Ward too? Eh, grey at best, they are both way too much self-centered. Ward is more anti-dad then doing whats best for Rand, course he may not know if its Harold's orders or the Hand's. I guess they didn't cause the plane crash. It was destiny? So the golden child, born in fire, would become K'un Lun's greatest warrior? How convenient. :) Will Davos give him another chance? Link to comment
Hanahope February 11, 2019 Share February 11, 2019 Ok, the ending made little sense. Joy is now so anti-Danny she's considering killing him? The Hand abandoned their fortress and left Gao there? Davos is now so anti-Danny he's willing to join forces with Gao/Hand to kill him? I guess cremation works as well as beheading. 1 Link to comment
rmontro June 26, 2019 Share June 26, 2019 Just finished season two (yeah, I'm behind the times). I guess I'm in the minority in that I enjoyed season one. In The Defenders, they knew Iron Fist was their only critical failure, and they treated the character as such, so that stunk. Season Two was one of the best Marvel seasons yet, IMO. Not sure what I think about giving Colleen the fist. Certainly if anyone else should have it, she should. I'd like some explanation as to what has happened at the end. It looks like a setup for the next season, but now it appears there won't be one. Did I miss something, or was Davos the first person to light up both fists? I don't recall Danny ever doing it, and Colleen never did. Danny has both lit at the end, but who knows what's going on there? And now it extends to weapons too, kinda weird. Link to comment

As I remember the film Bakuda had of the 1948 Iron Fist had that one light up both fist. Since I don't know the source comics I can't speculate if Danny found someway to upgrade or just spontaneously regenerated his powers through chi in the series epilog Link to comment
Hanahope September 1, 2020 Share September 1, 2020 Well, finally got around to start S2. I just don't get Joy. She's mad because the father she thought was dead, was actually alive, but now he's dead again, and for some reason this has ruined her life, she can't "return" to her old job, and she thinks its all Danny's fault. Hokay. and Davos is an asshole. Then there's split personality woman, I think? And something with chinese gangs and Colleen's family crest. 2 Link to comment
Hanahope September 10, 2020 Share September 10, 2020 Well it ended better than it begun. I’d love to have seen the story of how Daniel got both fists (back), and learned how to transfer them to guns, plus Colleen extending her fist to the katana. I cheered when I thought we were done with Joy, though looks like and interesting team up with Mary and her multiples. 1 Link to comment
Taryn74 May 3, 2021 Share May 3, 2021 I've been bored so decided to do a rewatch of Iron Fist since hubby and I (somewhat) recently rewatched Defenders. I'm halfway thru S2 right now. Random thoughts - It didn't occur to me watching the first time, that Davos' mother would have been killed in the K'un Lun slaughter that happened because Danny left his post. We saw in flashbacks Davos telling his mother that he was going to leave K'un Lun to find Danny, and would work to make her proud of him even though he wasn't the one who won the right to try for the Fist. And she couldn't even let herself acknowledge that she was listening. By the time he got back everyone was dead, and yeah, that was Danny's fault. No real way to spin that otherwise. No wonder he had murder in his heart in S2. Ward went from an absolute prick I couldn't stand to see onscreen, to one of my favorite characters in the whole show. I don't always like him, but he's always interesting. Him slamming his hand in the door of his car trying to get more pain pills is one of the saddest things I've ever seen. And him flipping off the cameras every time he thought he was in a place where his dad was watching him was funny as hell. Ward and Joy have some of the most believable sibling chemistry I've ever seen onscreen. Harold was too batsh!t crazy for me to ever enjoy him. I know a lot of people got a kick out of him, and I do love the actor, but I was just glad when he was gone for good. Mary/Walker makes S2 a thousand times more interesting than S1. I really wish they would have gotten a more compelling actor to play Danny. I think I've argued in the past that he did a pretty good job as long as you kept in mind that he was supposed to have the emotional maturity of a 12 year old, but I was giving him too much credit LOL. This time around it's just painful to watch his scenes. I remember being genuinely shocked the first time around that Colleen was Hand, but since I knew it was coming this time I watched for clues. She hid it pretty well but there were times she had a visible reaction to finding out what kinds of things the Hand was responsible for, without giving herself away. Very well done by the actress. I don't always like Hogarth (pretty much hated her by the final season of JJ) but I really like her role in IF. I like that her first instinct to the crazy which is their world is to think of the legal ramifications of what she's hearing. Because yeah, the head of a major corporation just waltzing back in after "faking" his own death for over a decade expecting to step back into his role is really not cool. (Talking about Harold, not Danny. Danny was just an idiot LOL.) Madame Gao remains one of Marvel's most compelling villains. She did some really evil sh!t, but boy could she ever read people like a book. 2 Link to comment
Taryn74 May 4, 2021 Share May 4, 2021 Two times Ward Meachum broke my heart tonight -- (to Joy, speaking of Harold's physical abuse over the years) "You have no idea what I spared you from," and (to Bethany) "I don't even like myself." *cries* So, Colleen is actually a descendent of the first female Iron Fist? Cool. I wonder if Bakuto knew that, and that's why he picked her up as a special disciple, to keep her from ever fulfilling her destiny to fight against him and the Hand, much the way that Stick did Elektra. Interesting thought. Mary/Walker both being terrified of the previously hidden third alter was fascinating. Wish we could have seen more of that storyline play out. Turk! I'm always excited to see Turk. 2 Link to comment
