How did they describe Carter an extrovert? The only time I can remember her partying is with Vala. In Mobius she was the definition of an introvert.

Adapting the Meyers Briggs backwards to fictional characters is a fun fanfic game but I gotta say, it has no validity used like this. As someone who has administered my share of Meyers-Briggs tests, the real benefit is finding out something you never would have guessed about the person who takes it.

She's an introvert. In the show, there is time Sam has time off and she is found doing research by herself in her lab. This is what she enjoys and does for fun. She will on occasion hang out with her co-workers but seems to enjoy time by herself as well.

Introversion/Extroversion is about how you get energy - extroverts get energized being around people, introverts get energized being alone.  Being social or outgoing vs social awkward or shy or a loner is another dimension.  There are lots of social introverts and shy extroverts.  It's just extroverts would rather be alone in a crowd than alone by themselves.  And social introverts need time to recharge after an outing.  And then, of course, there are all sorts of gradations and shades in between. 

I am an extrovert but that doesn't mean I need or want to be the life of the party or in loud and crowded places.  I need/want to be around people but it doesn't need to be Las Vegas during the NFL draft crowded.  In fact very large crowds and loud places annoy me.  I even like some alone time, it's just I get physically and mentally/emotionally drained if I'm alone too long.  (and that threshold would be quite small to an introvert).

Saw it. Read it. Didn't buy the premise, marina to. Janet's death "stings more than ever" because TPTB fracked it up. Maybe someday The Companion will let me write an explanation of why Heroes is a failure, largely because of its lack of catharsis ... something that Ripple Effect tacitly acknowledged with its goodbyes in the final scene. Whenever someone like Amanda Tapping or Michael Shanks cites Heroes as their favorite episode it makes me fume. They just don't get it.

As for Brad Wright's continuation of the saga, this seems to be as much as anybody (except Wright) knows. Anyone care to bet which legacy characters would find a place in the new iteration (Atlanteans are eligible—Lorne and Beckett fans raise your hands—but apparently Stargate: Universe is best forgotten, as it should be)?

This made me think of the other characters if they were introverts or extroverts. I decided to looking at SGA characters:

Shepherd: Extrovert! Not really a question there lol.

McKay: He's an interesting one, I feel like could go either way. He doesn't like people lol, or so he claims. But he can talk to anyone about anything. And doesn't like the quiet. But him being charged by interacting with people. Mckay is most happy working in his lab or spending time with a small group (the team). So Introvert?

Tayla: She seems to enjoy being in a group of people and has been a leader to her people. She also enjoys meditating and doing quiet activities as well. I feel like she is an extrovert but closer to the boarder. She can feel relaxed doing both.

Keller: She doesn't seem to like to be in a large crowd but will be social when there. Based on what is seen in the show she is a bit on the boarder. She does seem like she would want to revive after a social gathering as oppose to getting energy from it. So Introvert.

Carson: Extrovert. He enjoys talking to anyone and is very open and friendly. I feel like he enjoys being in a group and won't feel exhausted afterwards. 

Woosey: Introvert. This is the only one where they actually address in the show. He doesn't feel the need to eat lunch with other people and only when it is pointed out to him does he make an effort. He can do his job and be assertive when needed but he does seem to mostly enjoy spending free time either by himself or with a small group. 

Ronnon: Another one that it is hard to place. He does enjoy to socialize with larger groups. However, due to his past, often doesn't talk much and isn't very open. Not that is a deciding factor. I actually am not sure where to put him, which is why I listed him last.

Anyhow, what do you guys think? This is actually a lot harder then it first seemed. And as an introvert, my view maybe skewed.

Edit: I totally forgot there is a SGA board, let me know if I should have posted this there... but it wouldn't make sense out of context.

I commented about how killing off Janet ripped out the heart of the show. And it was so unnecessary because Don Davis wasn't coming back and offered to have it be his character get killed off if they needed to kill off someone the audience cared about. And yeah, so much about the catharsis was fucked, even though part two was supposed to be all about that. 

I'd totally ask Lawrence if he'd let you write that piece.

You're most cool, Blueray. The Atlantis board has died for lack of interest, it would appear so come on over to the shallow end of the pool, the water's fine. :-)

As for Atlanteans on an SG-1 reboot, Beckett would be an obvious (and popular) choice for CMO. I always liked McKay better on SG-1 episodes because of the obvious clash with Carter (which brings out Sam's ego big-time). Kavan Smith is a resident heartthrob on the Hallmark Channel now, so I think we can rule out the beloved Lorne. No disrespect to Bill Dow/Dr. Lee but Radek Zelenka would (again) be a popular nod for the resident all-purpose-scientist vacancy. Woolsey works best in small doses for me. Back to the IOA! Unless Shepherd becomes the new Jack/Mitchell, I don't see any other SG:A characters having a place in the new scheme, presuming it hews to the SG-1 teamy-goodness formula.

For an Ideas proposal based on an existing IP, two of the most significant factors in whether the proposal actually gets approved are:  (1) The owner of the rights to the IP in question (here, most likely Amazon/MGM) has to agree to license the proposed set, and (2) No other entity has an exclusive toy license that covers Lego-like toys.  It's also possible (though unlikely) that Lego could already have an official Stargate set in the works.

Additionally, a rejected Ideas proposal does not mean that another proposal down the road based on the same IP will not be approved and made into an official set.  For example, a set based on the U.S. version of The Office was approved in October 2021 after two other The Office projects that had reached the 10k threshold were rejected in previous years.

Hard to believe it was 25 years ago when the show premiered

It really is amazing how much things changed over 10 years in the SG universe.  They went from 90s technology to building their own spaceships, and the stargate itself became less and less important as the ships took on more prominence to the point where in the final episode it essentially makes a cameo.

Makes you wonder how the show would be if it were written today.  The Russians and Chinese certainly would not be written as mostly OK with the US military having operational control.

It's a very good article. And yes, it makes me miss the show a bit. I have my old DVDs somewhere, but nothing to play them with!

So, things that stick out at me. I always did like the lighter approach. There's so much other SF that takes itself seriously. While BSG was good, it was very much the opposite, and an indicator of things to come.

Space shows set in the modern day? There's Farscape, but that's mostly off on the other side of the galaxy. Dr Who pops in and out. For All Mankind is in an alternate past.

I'm glad Amanda Tapping pushed back against that dodgy clothing choice. She looked good enough as it was! And pop culture is full of cheesecake. Even though I like it, I don't need it everywhere.

Chris Judge pushing back on the race front. Yeah, that's good too.

However, one area I disagree with is the Sam/Jack romance. I hated it then, I hate it now. Does there always have to be some dubious forced romance angle that slowly burns away in the background? Compelling? Compelling me to annoyance, nothing more.

I tried Atlantis. It just wasn't the same, and Universe didn't even have the same light tone! No, it was only  SG1 for me.

Same here. There wasn't the teamy goodness, which really was the secret to the show's success. I include Hammond and Fraiser in this definition.

I watched the RDA/Brad Wright celebration (sorry I forgot to post it but you can see it here) and they talked about what it would look like now. Hope Brad Wright gets the chance to do that pilot he's written.

I just saw 6.8 "The Other Guys" for the first time in about 10 years, and realized I/we may have misinterpreted the premise.
All synopses I read indicate that only Carter passionately kissing Felger was a dream. 
But in rewatching, it seems that perhaps the entire episode was Felger's dream, given that when Felger comes out of his reverie he is back at his lab desk in lab clothing, rather than field clothing, a Jaffa uniform, or a suit.

There's a lot of life in the old Stargate franchise yet. There's a game graphic that got posted today at The Companion. You will notice that the most predominant figure is—wait for it—Carter! This is incredibly gratifying for those of us who stuck up for Amanda Tapping way back on TWOP and when Weasel Boy tried to write her out of S10. The Grand High Empress of Sci-Fi rules with benevolence ... but boy does she rule.

I can think of artists who are good, but not with faces. Jan Duursema and Magali Villeneuve seem to do variations on one face, so I suspect this is Carter. We'll see soon enough, I suppose.

In Janet's case, I wish they'd listened to Peter DeLuise and the faction that wanted her just to lose an arm or a leg but still survive. She'd still be heroic, just not gone. Or as the special effects guy said while he was setting up her "kill shot," "Geez, who did you piss off?"

It wouldn't have made S8 seem quite so depopulated, what with no St. George and no Little Doc. And Dr. Fraiser could have been transitioned (no, not that way!) to Atlantis or the new-look SGC in S9. I have nothing against Lexa Doig, who seems a very nice person, but she came nowhere close to filling Teryl Rothery's pumps.

After not watching the show in years, I just happened to randomly catch 7.20 “Inauguration” while multitasking. It's this one: gateworld.net/sg1/s7/inauguration

I walked into the room just as the face of Ronny Cox, playing Evil Vice President Robert Kinsey, filled the 58" TV screen. Although Kinsey was probably supposed to represent someone else in the news when it aired in 2004 (20 years ago!) I did a double take at how much his face — especially his eyes — resembled someone else currently in the news of similar character:

Well if not Vice President Cheney then Dick Jones from RoboCop followed him for the rest of his acting career. But remember back then Stargate had official support down to the actual USAF Chief of Staff making a cameo so there was no active politics.
