Speculation for Season Two: Infamy

A place to discuss the upcoming second season of The Terror.

This will not be a 'true' speculation topic - spoilers are allowed, under spoiler tags. Please  note - casting is generally NOT a spoiler, unless there is some special twist. For example; George Takei has been cast in Season Two is not a spoiler. Rule of thumb; if it's been published openly on multiple sites/magazines, it's fine. If you think it may be a spoiler, please err on the side of caution and spoiler tag it.

From Variety:

Quote

The second season of the AMC anthology series takes place during World War II and is set, in part, in a Japanese-American internment camp.
...
The second season of “The Terror” centers on a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community, and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible.

They certainly have a hard act to follow, especially after reading that no writers or directors from the first, will have any involvement with the second instalment.

With good shows being very thin on the ground and the excellent Outcast being binned, let’s hope The Terror can help make our summer.

I’m not sure if this is the correct location,

“Set during World War II, the haunting and suspenseful, second season of the horror-infused anthology, The Terror: Infamy, centers on a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community, and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible.”

I don't know, I'm on the fence with this one.

The first season was like watching a mystery unfold. No one knows exactly what happened to the men on those ships. Yes, they starved to death but we don't know their journey. Watching the men try to survive and find rescue was the terror, even without the supernatural spirit bear. We don't know why the Terror ship that has been found is 60 miles away from the other ship, that's still a mystery. It's all unknown.

Season 2 is based on a more current event that has people alive to tell the story. I agree it was horrible that the Japanese-American people were imprisoned, horrible. But there is no mystery like season 1 had. You can interview survivors and they can tell you exactly what the conditions were like and what they went though in the camps. So to make it creepy they're going to add a supernatural element of possession? I don't like that, not on a subject that might have open wounds for some of it's still living survivors.

I would have preferred another ship story set in the 16,17,1800's when a lot of ships were lost at sea or vanished without a trace.

Here is a bit of a review of Season 2, a positive review:

Quote

With its powerful depiction of once-proud families uprooted and separated, the series is gut-wrenching enough, even without the scary stuff.  And yet by weaving ancient terrors into its all-too-relevant story of prejudice and fear, this fable feels as fresh and original as it is frightening.
