Conrad "I love you dad."

Me "Aw man he's gonna die."

But now that the episode is over I don't know if they will have Bell kill him. It's not like Conrad could hate him anymore.

Why did the show feel the need to ruin Devin and Pryia I'll never now. Lets make Pryia a bitch so people will be ok with Devin cheating on her and  breaking up on their wedding day.

Of course Bell jumps I with both feet into a sketchy situation.

Oh Juilan you are so dumb.

This episode was fairly predictable on most fronts, imo, except that sadly, I didn't see the potential HODAD debacle until too late.  Don't know that I can wait for almost mid-January to see what happens to Marshall and HODAD!   Will Conrad go ballistic or should I say how badly will he go ballistic should anything happen to his dad now that they've made amends.

Julian, I could care less if she survives (and actually thought it may have been Lane who had the "accident".)  Huge miss that she didn't forward the warehouse pictures as proof and then emailed or forwarded it to a secure location or someone she trusted.    I'm surprised they let Julian leave; I thought she would have met her demise there.

I'm disappointed and disgusted with what the writers have done to the Devin character but no real surprise they've written Priya out.  And they bring in Devin's mom to give him an "out" - seriously?    Seemed disingenuous to be with someone for almost 3 1/2 years and infatuated with someone for what, 6 weeks, and you call off the wedding.   Rather pathetic drama.  I've lost much respect for his character.   Overall, no real surprises for me with this "cliffhanger" except the HODAD operation.

Asinine!! The most asinine fall finale ever.  It is inconceivable that that group of doctors would leave patients in recovery with Bell.  Or anytime. And it be Nics idea?  Say what?!

Did anyone/everyone believe Marshall I would never touch a woman?  The nightmares would have me personally doubting it.  So I think there's more to mine here and he'll pull through.

I think if all your bride can say is your timing sucks, people flew here (thank God it wasn't I'm pregnant) she's pretty dam shallow.  How about how could you, don't you love me anymore, can we work through this, I hate you, I've kissed plenty of men - some kind of actual emotional hit?  She's spoiled, and yes it was too contrived but I really liked Devon's mom's speech.

Julian is officially TSTL.  I would have locked my car doors, layed on the horn and called 911 before I got in that SUV.

One of them will die..who's the bigger guest star?  Lol But they need to ruin Quo Vadis to ruin Bell....so.

This is no longer a medical Drama, it's a damn fine soap opera.  Swoon at Conrad living up to his looks potential.  That suit was amazing.  So was Austin, he rivaled Mikah.  Mina was kind of meh sadly.

Seriously, anyone who has ever watched an hour of TV has seen that trope.  Who gets in a black SUV with strangers?  Devon just tossed Priya aside for a really stupid woman.

Somehow Gordon Page would have had an in with the 911 dispatch and the police sent would have been on his side and been the ones to execute Julian.

Yeah, I could see every twist coming from a mile away, but that's why this show is like comfort food. I don't expect it to shock me.

I wish there was more Theo Huxtable in this episode. I say this most episodes though.

Julian has the worst survival instincts. Yes go up to the shady man and give him the name and organization of the person you are supposed to be meeting. We figured it would be a car bomb though really. Theo looks awesome in his suit, with the pop of sari looking material as the ascot for a nice nod to the traditional wedding.

I hope Nic feels like poop when she realizes her turning off everybody’s phone screwed over Conrad’s father.

Can Bell's lawyer have more of a role? Because it seems he's the one sane man in the room.

I don't know why, maybe a slight physical resemblance, but the guy who plays Evil Boss had shades of Alan Rickman playing a villain. The memory it brought back was one of the rare highlights of the Quo Vadis storyline for me. It has the potential to have a good fallout only because Bell is involved.

Called it! Marshall is sick. My mother has Crohn's, so maybe it's because the disease hit close to home, but I loved the scenes between Conrad and his father. There were feelings yet it wasn't too gooey and Matt C.'s "I love you" hit the right notes. This storyline did feel a tad rushed, though, which leads me to my next point.

I don't like it when shows kill off women and minorities because TPTB seem to consider them much too often as expendable, but I hate it when they kill off a good character to keep a dud instead. Marshall reconciled with Conrad and they more or less explained the dream scene, whereas they went as far as making Devon more or less of a human turd in order to prop Pretty Moron. So I think they're going to kill off the former and keep the latter; in spite of Marshall having tons of storyline potential as Conrad's father and as Bell's foe whereas Pretty Moron has being Devon's LI and a McGuffin in the QV storyline. I'd be delighted to be wrong but I'm not too optimistic.

Spoiler

The writers said they changed their opinion about which character would die and it would explain why all of a sudden, they went out of their way to change the She-Raptor into a Pretty Moron and have the audience root for her.

Case in point: When you don't want to meet a man on his wedding day knowing he has feelings for you because oh naw it's wrooong, you refuse to see him, period.  You don't go only to act all self-righteous. This scene was only there to make Pretty Moron look good, and the hell with Devon coming off as a  spineless wannabe cheater then. The "Priya took the job, I stay here" line was so horrible in its implications, ranging from "my GF moves away we're clear" to "my GF stopped accommodating my needs, I can leave her or cheat".  And comparing Devon/Priya to a forced marriage? Seriously, show? Devon didn't have to date her or marry her at gunpoint, although he behaved as if it was the case. I'd give him props for not going through with the wedding but minutes before it, his timing doesn't suck. It's plain cruel. He all but jilted Priya at the altar. I'm glad she was at least allowed to express her anger, even more glad that she was allowed to have self-respect and dignity and didn't ask him to reconsider, didn't cling to him. I don't think I'll be able to stomach Devon/Pretty Moron, depending on the other storylines I could stop watching. Or even to stomach Devon in any kind of romantic attachment, for that matter, for a very long time.

I did like the detail of the ex-resident being invited to the wedding, not only Devon's current colleagues.

Nic doesn't want kids, alarm bell. Trouble ahead for Nic/Conrad. This is a realistic issue but after the garbage that was just served with Devon, I only hope this storyline won't get the same treatment.

Not enough Mina, although I know it's an ensemble and it has to happen; Austin does seem jealous of her BF, ugh. No Kit, where is she?  No Lane. This show is full of strong women, good or evil, and this episode didn't have nearly enough of them for me.

Strong disagree. With less than an hour before their ceremony (since guests had arrived) Devon called off the wedding. That's fucking shocking and I think it makes sense that the person being blindsided might fixate on the actual wedding they've been thinking about and getting ready for and talking about all day in that moment. There were issues in that relationship worth discussion earlier, like where are we going to live, but once you're less than an hour away from the ceremony, I think having "OMG, the wedding!" be your first thought is normal, reasonable, and not a sign of a shallow person.

Devon's really a piece of shit. Six weeks he's been unsure and instead of talking to Pryia, or a friend, or family, he's done nothing and then decides on his wedding day to fuck off. It may be shallow but looking at the bit we saw of the venue, outfits etc., they easily spent tens of thousands of dollars that they can't get back. People took time out of their lives to be there and many paid to travel. Devon knew he had a looming deadline and while I do think not marrying is better than getting married and divorcing, I also think that part of being a mature adult is communicating with your partner and either honouring your commitments or if you can't backing out in a timely manner. Devon really sucks.

I watched a few episodes of this show when it first started last year, but gave up on it.  I'm really pleased with how much its improved this season!  I was on the edge of my seat last night.

I'm glad that Dr. Bell isn't a mustache-twirling incompetent villain like he seemed to be last year. He's a much better character now.  He always seems to go against his better judgement and towards the "money" solution, which blows up in his face.  I think that underneath, he's a decent guy who just needs to learn where to draw the line (hint: closer than where he's been drawing it so far!).  That whole "Will he do the right thing this time, or make a dick move?" question makes him my favorite character.

I couldn't quite place the evil Quo Vadis CEO until he turned bad last night.  He was on "Elementary" a couple of seasons ago as Sherlock's former heroin-addicted pal, who was so odious that Sherlock beat him practically to death and then had a relapse.  I hated that character!  The fact that I took so long to recognize him tells me he's a really good actor.  I like his role here much better.

I hope Conrad's Dad doesn't die.  They need a tough, no-nonsense guy in there for Conrad and Dr. Bell to chafe against/ally with, depending on the circumstances.

I had no problem with Devon calling off the wedding.  Better to break up before the marriage than afterwards.

Hindu weddings last several days, with rituals involving wedding party and family interactions. Priya didn't call this out (I think, unless I missed it), but Dev has had several occasions to bow out; it is fairly maddening that he waited til the absolute last minute.

When has ANY show EVER killed off a famous, pretty person but kept a grizzled fine old actor? (I'm sure someone has an example, but it's got to be super rare).

Was anyone else surprised that the older gentleman having the heart operation lived? I thought they were leading up to a total unexpected death for his character. The way they kept assuring his daughter (and grandson) that he'd be fine...Maybe that was to throw us off of Conrad's dad dying. I just can't imagine them killing him off - too much story to tell there. And same with Julian (sp?) - there is a lot of story potential with her trying to expose the medical device business and with Devin now that he called off the wedding.

And why would they have let her go once they had her in the big black SUV just to let her go and chase her in the big black SUV?

At the top of my head, NYPD Blue killed off Rick Schroeder's character (also, Jimmy Smits) and kept Dennis Franz's Sipowicz?

I figured they let the sales rep go in order to bump her off the road or make her cause an accident herself (like she did) out of fear of being chased. That's easier than getting rid of a body, plus her car (she was probably filmed by traffic cams and such on her way there) and coming up with an explanation for her disappearance. And she's so dumb she deserves to die. Who in their right minds would keep looking back while in a high speed chase rather than use the rearview mirror that's intended to be used to look behind you?! At the very least she could have used a voice command to call 911, explain she's being chased by henchmen of her boss at Quovadis and that she went to the FDA to become a whistleblower and instead was betrayed by the FDA person and subsequently ended up in her current situation...

It's nice for Conrad that he and his father talked things through. Too bad neither mentioned the mother's fall and broken neck. Ah well. Father is obviously going to die and then, after half a season or  so, Conrad's nightmares will intensify and he'll investigate his mother's "disappearance" and that'll be his main arc for the next season.

Bell is such an idiot but serves as great (unintended) comic relief with his idiotic decisions. I liked the scene with the lawyer. You could just see him going down with Quovadis as they went over the conditions of the contract. Heh. And I also giggled at Bell's "Do you have a learning disability?" to his inept assistant. More like perpetually lazy and entitled, lacking any sense of responsibility. Surprised he hasn't fired him yet.

I thought both Conrad and Mikah(sp?) looked surprised to hear their partners didn't want kids and, in Mikah's case, not even get married. I'm sure that'll come up as well in the next season.

I can agree with this - but to be fair to the Devon character he had not previously had his mother give him approval to do so.  So, it's the show's fault. He'd previously been portrayed as a real striver for his family and background.  I thought that scene was really touching, and loved that his mother picked up with one sharp glance something was wrong with her son.  As a woman, my first reaction would be you dog!!  You don't love me?!?  My second reaction would be - why are you asking me to tell you what to do?  I'll tell you what to do - shove it!  Then I would feel glad I didn't marry a man who said "just tell me what to do."    ( I also hadn't seen the first minute of film with Julian in the park - that was totally weird, awkward and hard to believe.  It does pretty much destroy the Devon character sadly.  I'm still on board with watching him "grow up" though next season as the showrunners said.)

Gosh, I hope so! That scene they filmed should lead somewhere because it was disturbing as hell!  And I don't want Daddy Dearest to turn out to be a saint for some reason.

Bell is a hilariously good villain who always just squeaks by - I wonder if that's how villains do it in the real world?  I'd never get any sleep if I were just edging by!

I mean, why not just kill her and stuff her in a barrel of acid? Has no one been watching informative murder porn?

I don't mind that this show is a silly soap opera masquerading as a medical drama but I think a number of storylines are just getting overly asinine. I mean, when does Conrad's evil twin show up?

It wasn't the question, but in the beginning the focal point was supposed to be Kelly and then an "ensemble". I should have started with Kelly left, Sipowicz stayed but David Caruso wanted to leave, so it wasn't the writing alone and I'm not sure he was considered "pretty", LOL (more "ruggedly handsome", I guess, at the time?).

In universe, probably to make it look like an accident. Meta, probably because she won't die.

The season started a bit off for me, then it redeemed itself but I'd have preferred the writers kept the power struggle between Bell and Marshall more central instead of the triangle of doom. I really hope they don't feel the need to replace it and go for Austin/Mina/Mycah.

Spoiler

According to the promo for 2x10, the Evil Queen is back, so of course I'm going to watch.

And I'm pretty sure Julian mentioned to Gordon Page "Your heart valve killed people". I wouldn't be surprised if this patient came back with a defective valve (Did they say if the valve they put in him was quovadis?)

Sadly, I also fully expect the VNS kid to come back with complications

Nooooooooo don't kill Marshall!!!! Please!!!!!!

Agree with everything @Happy Harpy said about Devon and Priya. I feel like the writers here who normally do such a wonderful job threw BOTH Devon and Priya under the bus (clumsily at that) for some contrived romance. They could have had the Julian storyline (which I do like with all the whistle blowing stuff) without this bizarre affair that painted one of their awesome main characters in a less than desirable light.

I am nervous about Connic now. I was worried when Conrad was at the sick kid's baseball game last week. This week with Nic saying she doesn't want kids rings huge alarm bells for future drama. I am hoping they don't have some sort of triangle going with the kid's mother whom they cast an attractive actress. Let me be wrong. They have always been drama free even with the guy who liked Nic last season. I want it to remain this way.

I am really digging the Nic and Raptor scenes despite them being brief and are there to showcase his "thing" for Mina! More please!

Plus Bell's lawyer is one sane gem! His expressions and logic were spot on!

Finally the ep needed more Mina! Always needs more Mina!

They totally will go there with Conrad and hot Mom once he realizes that Nic really doesn’t want kids. I can see why she said that, but with how her character is around children I’m pretty surprised she’s not thinking about kids in the future. They already threw one great character under the bus this season (Devon) so why stop there?

I literally cringed at Devon and Priya’s scene. I can understand how she acted because it is embarrassing to tell people who travelled from everywhere that they wasted their time. In the Indian community, this is an extremely big deal because it is looked down on and they will be gossiping about this for years. I’m wondering if one of the writers is Indian, because that whole scene was pretty culturally accurate (along with Devon and his mom’s scene).

Too bad Devon’s new love interest is likely dead. Gordon is a corrupt asshole, and Bell is going to go down this sinking ship with him. I did like that Julian was a nice person and disgusted with her company. I thought she would be shady when they first brought her on. Maybe she’s wearing Devon’s watch and he’s going to find out she’s in trouble and save her?

That poor grandfather probably has a faulty valve, and that poor kid likely has a defective VNS as well. The second half of the season is going to be a shit show with all these devices malfunctioning. I hope Mina and Austin can save them all!

Just to round out the Michael Weston discussion, I saw him in a play a few years ago with Scott Caan (a play which Scott wrote, actually, and it was great!). He's a great actor. In the play, his character was just kind of a normal every-guy, which is the pretty much the one role I've never seen him in on television. :D

Also, his dad is the fantastic actor John Rubinstein and he's married to gorgeous and awesome singer-songwriter Priscilla Ahn. So, all in all, pretty cool dude!

As for this episode, I freaking hate that Devon called off the wedding last minute...but if I'm being honest, I hate it a lot less than being subjected to half a season of angsty phone calls back and forth between San Francisco as the marriage slowly dissolves. So, there's that.

Lastly, I don't really care which character died. There will be some super dramatic emoting and elaborate fallout no matter how it comes down, and I am HERE. FOR. IT! :D

So, we had a surveillance, super evil corporate mob, government employee bought by super evil corporate mob with target assassination and "accident".

We have love drama, last minute I CAN'T MARRY YOU, guests still drinking and dancing after the drama.

We have evil bitch controlling everyone from behind bars because of a sex tape that seriously, who cares about a sex tape of those two?

We have reconciliation at death bed.

The show is called "The Resident" - a medical show.

The only medicine is a surgery performed by a doctor who miraculously cured his tremors, even though there wasn't even a diagnosis.

Totally thought that the 60-ish dad/grandpa would die during this episode.

On a shallow note, I am not into nose rings WHATSOEVER (yes, I am old) ... nose ring attached to more jewelry on the side of your face or ear?  I can't even look.
