I cant say I am a huge Leah fan. I dont hate her or anything, and I like the idea of Shaun having a friend outside of work, but she gets on my nerves. First was her acting like Shaun was totally getting the wrong idea about her and him being romantic, despite her clearly showing an interest in him the last time they hung out*, and now, acting all surprised that Shaun is rather high maintenance as a roommate. I mean...yeah of course he is! Has she MET Shaun?

I like when Claire and Park work together, they balance each other out. Claire is very empathetic, but tends to rush into things, while Park is very logic based, but can also be pretty cold and judgmental towards his patients. Glad their case all worked out, and it was fun seeing Jewel Staite as the mom.

The case with the violinist was so tragic though, I felt terrible for her. I cant imagine what that would be like, losing your arm, your passion, and your livelihood, all in one fell swoop. I even felt bad for Reznik, having to sit their while the woman who blames her for this sobs. Thats freaking brutal.

*Thats not to say that Leah cant change her mind about being romantically interested in Shaun. If she told him that she did have romantic feelings for him, and they have now tapered off into friendship, that would have been just fine. But trying to act like he was crazy for thinking she ever liked him that way? Even after she kissed him? Thats really messed up.

Yeah, I hope we see more of this pairing.

I think you can play the violin one handed - but she lost her right arm, and most people are right hand dominant, so more likely than not, she lost her dominant arm

Over? Under? I don’t care as long as it gets changed when it runs out! I put a new roll on the sink when I saw the current roll was almost out. My husband started using the new roll on the sink rather than finishing the old one and changing it.

Good grief!

Re: the guest-vs-roommates dynamic...that would fly if this weren't Shaun we were talking about here. Do you really think up until now he'd have been been completely chill about everything not being done the 'right' way, because hey, she's only there temporarily, so he can roll (heh, pun not intended) with the wrongness for a few weeks? I'm inclined to think not.

And it can't all be on Lea's side, because her being on her best behavior as a guest would have already been pretty much what we saw in this episode: trying to do things his way but occasionally forgetting or not realizing.

When it comes to their relationship, I vacillate between cringing at her lack of understanding and his lack of boundaries. It's not a good part of the show for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if the violinist recurs in the form of a malpractice suit. The obvious step for her would be pointing her lawyer straight at Shaun, which would set up some interesting conflict between him telling the unvarnished truth (yes, I told them we should have tested earlier, and then the arm might not have needed to be amputated) or trying to hedge to cover Reznik and/or Melendez's asses.

And if we're voting: over.

As soon as they suspected that the violinist had a possibly dangerous infection, shouldn't they have called in an infectious disease specialist, or at least a doctor who was not a surgeon?

This. Second-year residents would not have been handling such a complicated case alone, with no supervision or outside consultations.

Thank you! That really took me out of the story. No way in hell they would have been making those calls on their own!

Wasn't Melendez there initially? And they failed to call him back for further consult, which is troubling. I wondered why they couldn't find another means of testing for the dangerous infection without cutting off part of her finger thus making her unable to play; someone suggested testing the discharge -- why was that not an option?

I loved that show Sisters. I don't remember Sheila Kelley in it, but I agree about the Botox comment for her and Sela Ward.

Watching the violinist lose her arm was devastating. The left hand usually does the fingering and the right, the bow, so maybe there is a chance in the future she can play again with an excellent prosthesis. I still like this show even if there’s some inconsistencies or it’s sometimes too formulaic but I still miss Jared :)

I so agree.  It's like the writers had painted themselves into a corner.  It's painful the gaslighting in order to create the slow burn.  I think they will end up together and they would be very good for each other.  And that's important to show that Shaun provides something Lea needs as well.  God, I hate it when people patronize my wonderful Aspie kids.  I also think Lea is deliberately played as annoying to highlight that it's hardly just a neurodiverse trait.

I quite like the friendship interactions as it does bring more depth to our understanding of Shaun's dynamics.  Freddie does a great job of playing an Aspie with PTSD.  Sometimes I think the PTSD is his greatest challenge.

He basically wasn't there for a large amount of time she was.  He was avoiding any confrontation and working 36 hour shifts and/or sleeping at the hospital.

Fair point. That would've cut down on a lot of it.

And  this episode is why I don't go to nail salons ever. I cringed immediately when I heard she got a manicure before her finger blew up. Thanks for the validation.

Years ago, I answered phones for a day spa and used to watch the manicurists work (and sometimes they'd do my nails for free or for cost of polish, if the schedule was slow - my nails always looked so pretty all the time back then; I miss that, LOL). Seriously though, not all nail salons are awful. But you have to go somewhere very clean, with technicians who are meticulous about cleaning and sanitizing their tools properly between every customer.

I'm enjoying catching up on some of the older episodes of this show being repeated.  I just realized that Sean's roommate/friend is VERY immature.  OMG, she has as many issues as Sean.  I hadn't caught that before.
