Colt & Larissa & Debbie: Me, You, and Bith Phtew

This whole thing just screams "publicity stunt" to me. I'm sure they're contractually obligated to provide drama. Beautifully choreographed on social media. Maybe there's a bonus check if someone gets arrested. Ratings gold.

If she has no money to go, then she’s a bigger fool than I thought. Who leaves their home ( however humble or poor) to marry  and move with a virtual stranger to a whole new country with NO SUPPORT and no emergency exit plans. Larissa isn’t 20 yr old Fernanda or Olga, she’s in her thirties and should have much more sense.

This situation should be a huge warning to TLC and any American women thinking of going to a foreign country with a foreign spouse and foreign women thinking of coming here with no means of getting out of a bad situation

If it turns out that Larissa was setting him up, she’d better be escorted to the nearest border crossing and adios!!

I remember years ago on a slef help immigration forum a dude proudly trumpeting that he raped her one more time before buying the return ticket and seemed shocked that everyone else on the board reacted with horror.

Well we don't know what her situation was in Brazil; but Colt had to buy her plane tickets and she hasn't been working while here if she doesn't have her green card yet.  I don't think he gives her access to the finances ; she can't even buy a couch that she wants.  She has no family here ; the primary people she knows are Colt and his family.  Hopefully she has made friends since being here; I think she is friendly with several of the cast members.  Most of them coming here on a K1 visa have no support- they have to trust the person they are marrying.

It seems to be the theme played with every couple until Leida showed up with that she is rich and he is poor story line when all evidence points to be her being a middle class actress and him being a middle class aviation technician.

It does seem to be the opposite of previous seasons where there was a participant social media blackout until the end of their season.

Also, I read that Jesse (last season American model wannabee) and Ashley (this season's main female ephebophilist with a black fetish to boot) both offered to help Larissa by sending her money for airfare. Ashley apparently told Larissa that she could stay with her in PA for a while if she didn't feel safe.  LOL! Sure, get those cameras rolling! I can't imagine she and Jay are still going at it like bunny rabbits in the backseat of the car, but you never know.

I understand that Jesse told Larissa that "You need to work on yourself, babe."

But if the "call the police" is done for drama, someone involved has broken the law for filing a false police report.  Coltie?  Larissa?  TLC?

Possible that a neighbor called the police, if it was noisy enough, and especially if it wasn't the first loud argument heard by neighbors.

Update from Cultee, very condescending and insensitive if even half of what he is saying is true. "Problems that do not exist" - well they do exist if she considers somethings to be problems, what a doofus. I don't believe for a moment that he thought taking her phone and de-activating it was going to defuse the situation, of course it is a threat.  The photo of the roses in the waste basket is spiteful and unnecessary.

I'm not ready to condemn Coltee just yet.  Maybe Larissa is related to my husband's ex-boss from Brazil because he pulled similar crap on my husband.  Egging him in to arguments.  Pushing his buttons repeatedly, even after he was asked by upper management to stop.  Making snide remarks with a smile on his face.  Gaslighting 101.  Just like what Luis did to Molly, causing her to lose her temper and him filming her, but only after he pushed her over the edge.  Is it possible Larissa did the damage and blamed it on Coltee?  100%, but I will wait to see if further info comes out.  My mom's brother married a woman who physically and mentally abused him (broke his nose in a grocery store - cops were called).  He never left her - stayed with her until she died from cancer.  I helped somewhat with my husband's cousin leaving her abusive husband.  They're back together, and I question a lot of what she told me now.  It's crap like this that makes it hard for true victims of domestic violence to be taken seriously.

And do you trust someone you barely know? People get fucked over by lifelong family and acquaintances as well as short term. Meeting someone, hopping into bed with them, getting knocked up by them, coming here to live with them, neither side knows enough to make it a smart thing to do.

Unfortunately, I have noticed with millennials, they often make mistakes and trust people they barely know.

The police having to “knock down the door” and handcuff Coltie leads me to believe HE was being uncooperative but maybe Larissa being arrested was because he had “marks” on him but she didn’t. Her scheme to get him in trouble for DV might have backfired.

Also, I don’t think Colt’s father died when Colt was underage. I recall him in the first episode  saying how many years it was since he passed away, something like 7 or 9, not when Colt was a teenager.

“Knock down the door” could be hyperbole by Colt. And lots of times people are handcuffed until police can sort things out and make sure there are no weapons etc. That she was arrested after a bit of questioning.... there had to be physical injuries or other evidence of violence and who caused it. I can see her setting him up or trying to.

I believe that in some states if the police are called for some kind of a domestic disturbance situation, they must arrest somebody. So I guess he talked the cops into arresting her. From my take of it, her English is broken and she doesn't seem to be the brightest bulb anyway. Colt is very smart and intelligent though. I might even go so far as to say borderline manipulative. Somewhere I read that she stated he tried to make it look like they were no longer together on social media, and she got angry at all the messages he got from girls. I also think that deactivating her phone is abusive. She probably threatened to call the cops and that was when he took the phone away from her.

In some states, you can be arrested because the police officer is a complete a.h. In some states, you can be shot and killed if you're a black kid running away from a police officer.

If viewers tried to understand or experienced only the financial reasons many Americans must live together (older parents+adult children, siblings, parents+disabled adult children, adult children+disabled family members, and so on) there might be fewer insulting comments about incest, "disturbing, "bizarre," etc.   I realize this is a snarky forum, but there are so many other things to pick on.   I can't imaging how scary one's life must be when even this relationship (as depicted on "reality TV") is disturbing.

Cole and his mother do have a co-dependent relationship, but that may have started with Cole's parents realized he was socially awkward and needed special attention.  They probably became too protective.   If Cole's mother has no personal income other than Social Security, there is NO WAY she can afford to live on her own.  Cole's quirks will make a roommate situation difficult.   Debbie and Cole's situation was safe, affordable, and comfortable for both of them.  And then...(dat-dat-dah!) Larissa and TLC.

I feel for Larissa. She doesn’t seem to understand that while the show is airing that she and Colt are not supposed to post anything on social media that may spoil the outcome of the show.

Rather, she seems to think that Colt wants to keep their relationship a secret for nefarious reasons. And then, Colt doesn’t help her understand about not spoiling the show. Instead, he takes her phone away which just escalated the situation and led to a domestic violence charge.

The whole thing could have been avoided with better communication.

Yes, there's snarkishness and talk about the disturbing relationship which probably does suck for these people , but then you go on to speculate about Colt's parents realizing he needed "special attention." LOL!!! All good points.  There is nothing wrong with adult children living with parents to whatever degree is necessary,  but for Debbie and Colt to live in Las Vegas and only have one shitty car with no a/c is almost unbelievable.

Why are we calling a woman in an interracial relationship a black fetishist?  Ashley hasn't shown any indication that she fetishizes him and sought him out just for his race.  As a white woman married to a black man this is something I really do not appreciate seeing this term used solely because it's an interracial relationship.

Because she is not primarily in an interracial relationship.  She is a step up from a pedophile. I referred to her as an ephebophile.  With a black fetish. I don't think she has a healthy relationship with this young man, which is probably only going to do more damage to him when all is said and done.

Well, duh, but as this show has shown us, many people throw caution to the wind and go to marry someone in another country that they have only met a few times.  It happens and not always on camera.  They all should be smarter; it's a roll of the dice.  Larissa may have felt he was non violent or he may have painted a brighter picture of his life with his mother for her; we don't know.  I think it's fairly stupid to committ to marry someone you have only met once or twice because you don't really know them , but here we are with this show in multiple seasons and spin offs.

She was dumb, she came and married someone she barely knew (so did he).  So, if it goes south and crosses a line into abuse territory; I still think the victim in the situation needs protection and fair treatment by the law.  I don't know who is the victim here, but Colt's gaslighting posts after the fact are really bothersome to me.  I could honestly see it going either way here.  None of us know yet what really happened and what is real in this situation (we might never know).

Colt seems disingenuous to me when he says that he turned off Larissa's phone to 'de-escalate' the situation. After all, SHE was the one who wanted to call the cops first! Then he turned around and called them on her! It's pretty obvious why he turned off her phone.

Further, it had to be kinda scary to her to be locked alone in a room without access to anyone. She couldn't even call an Uber.

Not that he would have given her access to money for an Uber, anyway.

Colt says that Larissa's problems are made up in her head and "not real." Something tells me that she's not the first person to have issues with him that he deems to be "not real." After all, how could Colt possibly be difficult to be around? Oh, no, not him!

I'm not the first one here to pick up on a misogynistic vibe from him. Maybe this is what happens when he "lets it out"?

Larissa tearfully complained on her Instagram videos that she had to cook and clean and pull the hairs out of his nose. (I know. Ew! But, that's what she said.) This would be consistent with what we would expect from Colt, a woman to pick up after him like mom.

That's why I think Colt turned over the shelf. Larissa wouldn't do it because she wouldn't have to clean it up.

I'd be scared watching some psycho toss furniture around.

Also there is so much about their relationship that's weird and unnatural.  Like, when he just brings Larissa home, there she is, and they haven't been together in months, and mom is still glomming onto Colt for an affection fix. Like, back off, lady! Don't you think he would rather have his arm around Larissa?

The sad thing is that I don't think Colt realizes how much Debbie has stunted her son's emotional and psychological development.

I guess the police report will come out next week or within the next few weeks and we will know more.  Colt's mom (that wasn't even there) is blaming the fans for calling the police and is basically saying word for word what Colt said (no collusion there, ya'll)

Colt had to have realized when he called the cops that this was really going to mess up Larissa's chances of getting a work visa, becoming a citizen, etc.  In the anger of the moment, he must have wanted her sent home.

If he had been concerned about her mental status, he would have made a different type of call. Of course, unless he wanted her in a state mental hospital (brutal!), it would have cost money.

Makes me glad that she wasn't there when the cops showed up. Larissa would have been in BIG trouble with Colt and his best girl in cahoots.

I totally agree that there is nothing wrong with adult children living with parents. And in this case, I think it's Debbie who needs "special attention" and not Colt. All that weeping! As they say, she's not wound too tight. She should be able to differentiate between... someone not wanting to eat your stew and say, losing your firstborn. But she cannot. Watching the way she strong arms her son with those tears is disturbing. For that reason I would say Larissa is the best thing to happen to him in a long time! And, I hope Colt doesn't screw it up.

In their case, the healthiest thing that could happen would be for Debbie to move out. At the very least, they could get one of those "granny pods" behind the house.

No way should she be living with her son anymore.

I'm waiting for that police report to come out.

Taking away someone's access to a phone (whether it's taking it out of their hand, smashing it on the ground or ripping it out of the wall) is a classic domestic abuse move. And although my husband is not an abuser and has seen domestic abuse up close, he didn't realize that.  Like "holding" someone's driver's license so they don't "lose" it. It's controlling. In the right (or wrong) situation, it can be terrifying, but most often it's to exert control over the other party subtly, isolating them, putting them in a position of having to ask for permission and report their plans.

I also know that depression and anxiety do not equal abusive behavior.

HOWEVER, I just noted that Larissa calling the cat "fat" and expressing disgust at a fat cat could have also been a subtle jab at Coltie. We've seen pictures of them where his weight is up and down. I don't know if he just lost a bunch of weight or struggles with what looks like about 50 pounds...but that could also have been a threat. As in, she knows he struggles with weight and her way of controlling him is to make her affection and acquiescence to sex dependent on him not being "fat."

I don't think she's a saint.  She probably is mean to him and complains too much and is mean to debbie, but she also doesn't deserve to have her phone snatched away, be told that she's too depressed to make sense, or have to hide in a bathroom. Neither of them need to emotionally abuse the other; if that's where it's at- divorce and move on.    I think they are both liars and the truth is somewhere in the middle.  He's deleted the post from last night where he explains how the police were unfairly mean to him and that Larissa is crazy and that's why he had to take her phone.  He was probably getting snowed with negative feedback.

Too bad this is never a warning to men who find this little arrangement quaint.

She wants a green card and uses sex as her currency.   He trades on this arrangement for a wife who looks like what he feels like he deserves.

Except she really loathes you and will use the domestic violence/depression/fear mongering card if it suits her narrative.  And he may be just a tad bit controlling/pathetic/egocentric in miscalculating how long he will find the vagina delightful in exchange for her not ending up as the living blow up doll he imagined.

We keep seeing it over and over and each guy thinks he isn’t the mark and each lady thinks he’s perfectly sane.  ‘Merica!

If this recent situation is real and not a publicity stunt, then I'm still calling BS on her 'frantic' posting on IG. Why on earth would she post HIS phone number and ask people to call him and tell him to give her the phone back? If she was so fearful for her safety, why wouldn't she post their address and ask people to call the police? The direction she took makes no sense and sounds like the logic of a toddler, not a 30-something adult.

That said, Coltee's 'explanation' is transparently controlling and disturbing. Brazil isn't an awful place, and if its that bad she should take up the offer of a plane ticket home.

Looks like Fernanda works herself up into a state also because some random dances with HER FIANCÉ!!!!!!  Go home and grow up little girl.

I'm still wondering about Colt's statement that in the State of Nevada, someone has to be arrested if the police are called? That makes no sense to me!

I could see someone having to leave perhaps, but not someone having to be arrested.

Yep...difficult and sad.  Think of how much worse things would be if they lived on their own.  Debbie might eventually end up in a homeless shelter.  I don't know where they could move where their cost of living would be less (taking utilities into consideration).  Nevada has no income tax.  They won't suffer during the winters.  Maybe the extra income from TLC will help their standard of living...a bit.

I lived at home well into my 20's. I was in University and it helped me avoid accumulating so much debt. I also got some post graduate education, I worked and paid my parents rent for the room, food etc. The Colt situation is awkward and weird but I promise not all people who live with their folks are like Colt :) My good friend who is 38 just moved back into his parents home, his dad has cancer and mom is early onset Alzheimer's so he moved back home to help out.

It’s common in Australia to go to University and live at home. My brothers had jobs and paid board and didn’t leave home til early to mid twenties. It’s a very American thing to fly the nest. However even I think 30 ish is a tad weird  for Coltee to have never left home.

Absolutely! I dont think anyone here is insinuating otherwise. We're just saying that in this particular case, the dynamics and the way they both talk about their relationship veers creepily close to Debbie feeling like her son is her son-husband...uch.

There's a difference between egging someone on or starting verbal arguments and gaslighting. From what I see, she's been very blunt about telling him what she doesn't like about him, his life, and his family. That's not so much "gaslighting" as regular old acting like a high maintenance b*tch. That said, I have no doubt she nags him incessantly. She doesn't love him, she doesn't respect him, she resents that she's not getting the life that was represented to her by movies/TV/whatever. These are things that (unfortunately) happen commonly in a dysfunctional relationship, but that still doesn't make it right to respond with physical abuse. These are adults. In any normal relationship, if things had spiraled to this point the sensible thing to do would be to call it quits and walk away. But these two are so entangled in scamming each other and trying to get a fast buck and a little fame that they won't take an easy way out of the mess they made.

I just wanted to say I agree 100%. Nothing wrong with adult children living with their parents or vice versa. A grandmother in the house is an ideal caregiver if Mom wants to go back to work. There are so many good reasons for it, economic and otherwise.

However, in Colt's case it's obvious that Debbie's got her tentacles in him and she won't let go. Poor Colt has never known anything but her weirdness so he doesn't understand how it looks to the outside world. He really doesn't get it! Debbie has obviously used her son as an emotional replacement for her husband, and I am saying an emotional replacement. He may rub her feet at night or whatever, but I don't think there's anything going on between them.  Still, the relationship is dysfunctional and for that I put the blame entirely on Debbie! She will sabotage the relationship with Larissa, and Coltie won't even see where it's coming from. "Mom doesn't mean any harm. You're paranoid, Larissa." I can just hear it now.

Since it's Vegas, I would bet big that when he has problems with Larissa, Coltie goes directly to Mommy. Nobody probably ever told him that's a big no-no!

Even if it doesn't work out between Colt and Larissa, Colt and Debbie need to be separated..

Mate, I would have called the Australian embassy and would have been on the next plane home. I don’t understand any of it, except he likes his Brazilian goddess and she likes America.

Maybe she's a Fiery Latina, and Colttee should have chosen a Spicy Latina. I think you have the choice on those dating websites.

Las Vegas is the closest city to me. I lived most of my life in suburban New England so the desert life is quite a shock to me. Just throwing out a few ideas.

First off me don't know why they are living in that house. Remember how many people laughed at Brett (of Brett and Daya) when he lived with those 2 co-workers in a rented room. He was just trying to save for a home and once he married Daya they got their saved till they could get their own home.

Safe affordable Las Vegas housing is a variety of stucco boxes with slightly different floor plans. I posted before I thought the 3 level house was one of the better options. Colt and Larissa have their own floor in that home, bedroom, bathroom, and spare room (looked like colt had computer stuff in it) and Colt Mom had her own floor. This is much better then a large one level rambler for privacy. Plus Colt is into gaming and works with computers. Good internet is a must. Internet can stink in some areas of Vegas. I lived in a mutli level home for years and just moved to a very large one level and I have 3 internet providers I pay , spent $800 on routers and I still cant get good internet on the one level. maybe they choose this house for internet.

As for the car, the sharing thing is odd but the old car is not as much. I never drove an old car till I got to the desert. I always had a newer snow safe car. Now i is sunny 350 days a year, so cars seem to last longer. Plus I have never had so many people bump into my car, I fixed the rear bumper the first time and it has been dented 3 more times so I just let it go, plus I have gotten countless dings in the parking garages. It is so hot you want to park in the covered area but it seems like people just bang into your door all he time. Of course I rent a nice new car if I travel out of the city or have family in. Can rentals are so cheap, under $20 for a full size or premium car. I dont think Colt should be a Jorge , renting a car to show off, but to pick Larissa the first time and show her the city , maybe he should have.

I would never make my college age son move out unless he was ready. Rent is outrageous, $1000 for a decent one bedroom. I would rather see him get a debt free education, save for buying a condo, and have a good start in life. As long as he pays for his personal expenses and is respectful  , he can use his bedroom. Seems a waste for me to have an empty bedroom and for him to pay $15k a year to live in a one bedroom down the street. Of course I hope by 32 he will have his education complete and be secure. I really think there is a missing piece to why they live together, hopefully some great sleuth will uncover it for us.

There's nothing wrong with parents and adult children living together, until there's something wrong with it.

Dour Debbie posted and basically chewed out the fans for calling the cops. But when a desperate woman posts on Instagram and says please help me, my husband trashed our house and took my phone, what else are they to do? She was pretty pissed off at the internet that they didn't just let Coltie handle it. All I can say is that Debbie is one sour little thing!

I did a quick Internet search and discovered that apparently, in Nevada, if the cops are called for domestic violence, one person is going to jail. So apparently, Colt nobly decided that his wife should go.

Although its been posted already numerous times, the fact that he took her phone says it all to me.

Mommy controls her son with crying and guilt.

I have to wonder why Larissa would pick Dolt?   There had to be at least a few old geezers with some $ out there.

Maybe they had better sense than Colt and recognized a problem when they saw it.

He took her phone and was ragey....pretty much par for the course although it looks like our resident fiery (or was it spicy?) Latina seems to be reading from the Green Card Procurement handbook on leaving a social media trail.  Anyone who is really fearing would call 911, not go through the problem of posting.   He'd eventually calm down and then she could just walk next door and call.   Fishy yet Coltie doesn't seem to be in on it other than exposing his raginess.   He may find an unfortunate by product of this as Loss of Employment.

Debbie definitely has the tears n guilt card flowing.   She just can't overcome her own fear.   She's a horrible parent.

Larissa is stuck on Dolt because internet gold is harder to find than one would think, given the pool of applicants worldwide.   You have to find the perfect combination of money and desperation in a man who is looking for starter clam outside of their country yet willing to bring them over and actually marry them.

Really rich men have a lot of options and even in this scenario they aren't going to settle for 30 year old Larissa and her "average" by LatinoCupid standards.   So everyone in the average boat on NameYourCountry Cupid is vying for American men with jobs who bathe regularly.  And still people like David Poor and David Poor 2.0 find themselves 20 year olds to bone and they are losers.   Coltie looks like a catch in comparison.
