Happy Harpy October 2, 2018 Share October 2, 2018 Quote Bell grows frustrated when Marshall Winthrop, Conrad's dad and new chairman of the board, requests Conrad's input in his discussions about the hospital's expenses. As Conrad and Nic work to cut costs for their patients in need, Julian Lynn (guest star Jenna Dewan), a sharp and sophisticated medical device rep, meets the staff at Chastain and inserts herself into the ongoing work of the doctors to promote her costly products. Meanwhile, Mina's relationship with Micah struggles in the wake of his healing process, and Devon is tasked with showing the eager new interns around the hospital. Airdate: Monday, October 1st 2018. SuzieQ October 2, 2018 Share October 2, 2018 Bell is such a smug bastard! You know that conviction will come back to bite him in the ass. I laughed a little that he referred to Hunter as the love of his life. If she was, his self preservation instinct kicked in pretty quick. So is Conrad's dad a decent guy or is he just trying to get his son to love him? Jury still out on that................ 7 Link to comment
Happy Harpy October 2, 2018 Author Share October 2, 2018 (edited) Better than the season premiere, although the first half had me fear the worst, tone-wise. Bell calling Lane "the love of my life" touched my black heart more than the mushy medical cases. I'm sure he's sincere, he is affected. I never know if I love to hate Bell, or if I straight love him somewhere because I applauded his rockstar turn in the OR. I cheered "welcome back, you my lovely cynical show you!" when he sold the helicopter ride to the dad or threw the papers in the garbage -this is so going to bite him in the ass. MVP again, Bruce Greenwood is never not fascinating. And please give me back my match made in Hell. Marshall is actually the voice of reason and trying to reconcile two extreme POVs? I didn't expect this one and I liked it. Conrad was a bit too perfect in the premiere and dealing with his dad corrected this impression. I also liked Mina and Nic working together, Austin fanboying Bell, and the meeting with everyone at the end. I was almost sure I would only want the med students gone and I actually liked Blond Sheldon in the end. The blond (chief?) nurse from the end of S1was back, I hope she sticks around. Priya! It was nice to see her and she and Dev are cute. I used to think Mina and Mycah were, now I'm over them. Give my back my rockstar abrasive Dr Okafor right now. Didn't like either Austin eyeing them ominously. I have no use for the medical worker. I had never seen Jenna Dewan in anything, I'm not impressed. Her voice grates, but maybe it's the role that's irksome as a whole. Maybe she'll get more interesting later. Edited October 2, 2018 by Happy Harpy 4 Link to comment
whinewithwine October 2, 2018 Share October 2, 2018 Sales rep walking in on a patient/parent/physician discussion? Oh Hell, no. Had to laugh at the interns trying to start IV's. I started my medical career as a phlebotomist, and some of the teaching sessions went that way. And that one intern was right...radiologists are the worst at starting IV's. That surgery must have taken several hours....who's saving lives in the rest of the hospital with Conrad up there? just saying. 7 Link to comment
Love October 2, 2018 Share October 2, 2018 I’m a Canadian RN who has only ever worked in Canada. Maybe medical practice in the US is different than in Canada, but I have never seen a central line inserted into the external jug vein ever. Much less by a nurse or nurse practitioner. In fact most NP’s here don’t even wear scrubs or do bedside care. Not to mention using an IV catheter without an ultrasound or sterile procedure to insert said catheter. I like the basis of this show, but the medical aspect leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe I just need to suspend reality. 3 Link to comment
twoods October 2, 2018 Share October 2, 2018 (edited) Here in the US central lines are always placed in the internal jugular, and rarely external jugular unless they need to do a peripheral line which it seems like what they were doing. It would have taken another 5-10 seconds to get a central line kit from the cart but I guess they wanted to show how badass Nik was. Air ambulance at 40 grand a ride? Insane, but much like the 3-4K ED visit. I’m glad this show is shedding light on how hospitals have no problems profiting on all the overcharging. Why is Conrad always working like a trauma surgeon resident? He shouldn’t be in the ED unless he’s admitting an adult patient. Didn’t know he worked on the pediatric ward as well. Are we supposed to feel sorry for the arrogant bastard for picking up a prostitute because he misses his bitchy girlfriend? You almost killed patients because of your tremor so stop with the self-virtue, buddy. I like Jenna Dewan so am interested how much they will shoehorn a pharm rep in storylines for some Devon angst. seasonedscribe October 2, 2018 Share October 2, 2018 I enjoyed this episode much better than I did the premiere, it was more cohesive. I am curious as to what everyone thought of Jenna Dewan's debut? Link to comment
cathmed October 2, 2018 Share October 2, 2018 I, too, wondered if there's a hidden agenda with Marshall. Clearly, Bell is not his favorite person and I thought there would be more tension between those two. Even though Marshall and Conrad had been estranged for years, Marshall did bail Nic out of prison and became the COB for a reason He does seem to want to be fair to the hospital and patients. I hope this storyline is developed and not just dropped. Bell has once again, sidestepped another catastrophe, with the help of his attorney (and agree with other posters - really, a prostitute?) I thought it was laughable that suddenly, Lane was the "love of his life" but yet, he had no problem destroying her career in this set up---as if he hasn't murdered people in the OR. Actually, I was happy she was undercover and thought maybe he'll get his comeuppance but of course, he landed on his feet, for now. I don't care for Bell's amoral, unscrupulous, devious and smug behavior; his total lack of disregarding that he feels entitles him to being (above being) held accountable for anything. He will continue with these despicable actions but when will he get caught? And now for the angst--which I'm not really a fan: Obvious that Mena/Mycah are at a crossroad and yeah, what's up with Austin watching from afar? I don't care for this "presumed" relationship developing between Devon and the new med sales rep (Jenna Dewan) based on the previews for next week. Now, I realize previews are sometimes taken out of context, but this doesn't make sense. Devon appeared to be very happy with his fiance and no real problems but what, he's enamored with Julia's medical devices?? PUH-LEEZE!! Looks like "Connic" may be en route to a serious disagreement of patient treatment and/or hospital procedure which will cause a rift in their relationship. 2 Link to comment

I hope this storyline is developed and not just dropped. I'm pretty certain the power struggle at Chastain and the orientation of its policy is going to be the central storyline this season, since it's more or less the theme of the show. There's indeed a big change with the way Marshall is portrayed, since there was something sinister about him last season and it's nowhere in sight for now. 26 minutes ago, preeya said: Greenwood is here for the entire trip. I hope so. I don't want Bell to win, but he's the most entertaining character to me now that Lane is gone and Mina is the shadow of her former self. Czuchry and VanCamp are great but I'm not sure I'd keep on watching without Greenwood. Link to comment
Jlina October 3, 2018 Share October 3, 2018 Jury is still out for me whether this season will be worth watching. What happened to fashion designing med stealing Mina??!! All the joyful romances must be fixing to take a sour turn next week, so I guess Bell will get to actually date the female cop, who won't be allowed to talk. Muah hahaa.... Conrad's dad will have to be some kind of big bad because Bell on his own does not a season make. I wish Bell was played by Conrad from Revenge, as I have yelling "Arctic! Blue," eyes imprinted on my brain as villanous. Anyway, as someone who pays for their own insurance and constantly thinks about dropping it....OMG!!!!!! The insulin thing is real, a real life thing! There's a ton of articles on it. Pills and no carbs make me completely normal for now, but it's not often a soapy tv show has a real life implication on my health insurance decisions. Wow, I'm impressed, and horrified in equal parts. 2 Link to comment

I know that it would never happen, and that so many people don't even watch commercials anymore, but at the end of each show they should do a public-service announcement talking about how policies affect us and what the politicians are doing or not doing about it. SINGLE PAYER FOR ALL! 1 8 Link to comment

I'm buying generic ones now, out of my own pocket rather than deal with the quagmire that is Medicare. Back on topic, I really enjoyed the woman selling "doctor gadgets." Mrs. Torqy and I are still making jokes about the artificial sphincter. Edited October 6, 2018 by torqy 1 1 Link to comment
Mellowyellow October 7, 2018 Share October 7, 2018 (edited) Ahh Bell the villain I love to hate! I cracked up when he called Lane the love of his life although I do think it is true in its own way. She was likely as close to "the love of his life" as he was likely to get. They were both villains and would sell each other down the river. It was a perfect match! I actually hope Conrad's dad isn't evil and is genuinely trying to find a balance in the hospital and make amends with his son. I would enjoy watching that and avoid the parental angst. Let Bell get his evil on, he's so good at it. I'm at this weird place where I enjoy watching Bell be bad but I don't want him to be evil enough that they have to write him off the show. I smiled fondly at the TV when he smoothly and shadily sold that rich dad a flight for his son. So typical Bell. I cheered when he succeeded in the OR too! Yay for my favourite villain! Enjoyed Jenna Dewan's debut. I thought she captured the role very well. Intelligent, smooth talker, pushy but just sort of subtle enough. Looking forward to seeing more of her. Get rid of Mycah! Don't kill him but break them up please so I can have my normal Mina back! Or just leave him as an offscreen boyfriend! Mina and her mini wars with Bell was a HUGE bright spot in season 1. I miss it so much. Edited October 7, 2018 by Mellowyellow 5 Link to comment

Ceindreadh October 29, 2018 Share October 29, 2018 I was so expecting two of those medical choppers to crash at the start of the episode. But $40k for a transport? That's just forked up. 1 1 Link to comment
