But somewhere along the line she scooted away... not only with the attire , but you have to go to a real state licensed pgm to become a LPN and have the aptitude and experience to  pass the state exam - which is more than I can say for a few of the women in the bunch. Plus with her being in her mid-20s - that is considered an old maid in the group.

Agree I saw a different JD. It was a good welcome sight. The love of a good woman...

JD and his piloting & income... hmmm... and he's the one whose the law enforcement w/o pay right ? I wonder how he feels (1) girlfriend makes documented income more than him { there are pleny of men who would have  BIG issue } and (2) she's going to give that up - most likely - to be a Duggar wife. Just hanging her Oklahoma LPN license on the wall will hopefully inspire other women raised in IBLP to something, outside of their circle, in a traditional setting/program/college before marriage.

Has she too been living at home all this time and banking her $$  ?

In my opinion, I would not call it love. They look like a couple of teenagers dating for the first time ever, or are just happy someone from the opposite sex is giving them the time of day. The Duggars knew Abbie's family for awhile now, and I bet JB told JD he could "officially meet" Abbie when the time was right. They are in the first stage of their relationship, but I will be interested to see how they are after the first kid arrives and they are being "ask" to parade their perfect new marriage on television. I do remember people thinking how great Deredick will be for Jill, and look how it turn out. The Duggars act like they are acting like teenage couples playing house while having babies or they are miserable playing house and having babies.

Ok, so I am sorry to admit I watched part of this today at work during a slow time. (No worries, my own business, I am the sole proprietor and the sole employee, so no judgement).

Jesus Christ. The “daddy speech?” Seriously? The amount times she said “Siah” was her “best friend?” Her “breathy voice?” - which I would have killed someone if I had to hear that voice for more than 5 minutes... yikes. Plus her mother looks like my cousin so ...

Josiah looked pained when he saw Lauren at the first look.  It was like he was really trying to say the right things while being shocked.  I had a friend whose grandpa died a few hours before her wedding.  The close family decided not to tell her until after the ceremony.  Her parents trying to be happy for her and not let on their sadness before the wedding so as to not ruin the day.  Josiah reminded me of their faces that day.

Austin giving marriage advice... mmkay...

Lauren’s hair looked different everytime she was shown tonight.  Always love hair down for a wedding but put some hairspray in it!

Also if you call your Dad daddy shouldn't that be a sign that you're to young to get married.

Marriage is for suckers anyway. It might be a cultural thing but I’ll call my father “Daddy” until I die.

I think this was a topic when both Kendra and Lauren got married but why would they call their fathers anything else if that’s the term everyone is comfortable with?  It’s not weird unless you make it weird.

Ive never thought of Josiah as one and of her favs and I haven’t seen her cry a ton at the other weddings?

and I did like the tables and actual flower arrangements. It wasn’t a parking lot wedding but it will have to do!

She got both the degree and the job in the last couple years. Maybe her parents felt she would need to be able to support herself if she didn't get married. Maybe she felt called to nursing.  Her clothing choices are consist with the Bates and the Duggars, who have kept their core beliefs but have changed their outfits. Fundies in general are moving away from the frumpy look and are looking more glam.  (I'm not sure how old a woman has to be for them to consider her an old maid. I do think a lot of young women get married later than the tv brides. )

I'm not knocking her. It's great she has a degree. Marrying a Duggar, however, probably means falling back into the fold.

This has been mentioned a few times already, but Lauren telling Josiah he needed a breath mint (and she was not joking) on national TV was both funny and humiliating, mostly the later. I just can't imagine ...

They can't wait to get married so they can kiss.  It just boggles my mind.  I mean, you need to know before you make a lifetime commitment to someone if there is some chemistry there!  And the way they make SUCH a big deal about that first kiss in front of EVERYONE.  I think part of me would always wonder if the guy just wanted to kiss someone and went along with the marriage thing just to be able to do it.  (Kiss, I mean.)

The TH segments on the couch, were those filmed after the wedding?  Maybe Si is a disappointing kisser with the bad breath and all, and Lauren is over it and him now.

I also noticed he was visibly underwhelmed when she came out in the wedding dress.  They are just so awkward together.  I don't get it.

Having watched a little over half of this mess, I'm now convinced that there is some kind of Katie Holmes contract in place for Lauren's marriage to Josiah. Only instead of 5 years, it's a lifetime commitment with a bonus paid out for each offspring produced. I can't otherwise reconcile the disparity between what she says ("there's nothing I don't love about Josiah") and her outward behavior (mocking his bad breath in front of millions--and that's only the latest example of belittling behavior directed his way). Just maybe her cheerful veneer masks a well of contempt for Josiah because she considers him beneath her. Their chemistry is awkward and unnatural; there doesn't seem to be anything "organic" about the way they came together.

Oh, and she's a mush mouth who needs to learn to enunciate so people can understand what the hell she's saying.

I just rewatched the 30-second video they made a day or two after their wedding.  It’s one of the most awkward and uncomfortable things I’ve ever seen.

Lauren's mom reminds me of Ben's mom. They both have the same weird, tortured smile.

Jessa's pimping it like the rent is due tomorrow.

Out of all the Duggar couples, Si and Lauren are the least authentic. I've never once sensed they're madly in love. I don't even think I'd say they politely tolerate one another. What sort of feels is Jessa talking about?

Jessa being effusively positive means something is seriously wrong. It's such a blatant tell. She's not a naturally perky, sunny person so when she feels the need to fake it, she's as good as taking out an add that the wedding sucked and Josiah and Lauren are in major trouble.

I've never given the speculation any thought one way or the other, but Michelle's crying and the way the family had been acting over Josiah getting married makes me think that Josiah might indeed be gay. The relief they all feel over this wedding is palpable.

During the wedding, Derick's brother Dan was giving Jeremy the evil eye.  Something is definitely going on between the Dillards and the Vuolos.  This could stem from negative remarks Jeremy once made in his sermon about self-appointed missionaries.

In a sermon titled “Philippians: God’s Sovereignty in Establishing His Church,” Jinger's husband blasts “unqualified, uncalled, unconfirmed, unsent zealots” who “cause more damage than they do good” by deciding to become missionaries.

“How many people have thought, ‘Well, there’s an open door, so I must run through it; there’s an open door for a church plant or mission endeavors, I’m going,’ when they’ve never been established by a local church, they’ve never been confirmed by the people of God as possessing certain gifts?” Jeremy said. “They’re just Lone Ranger types running around solo asking churches for money to support them.”

I've been noticing this since the Greek honeymoon episode. It does seem kind of tic-like.

Lauren is the spitting image of her dad.  I see some of her mom in her face as well, but mostly her dad.  Her mom seems to be trying really hard to appeal to Lauren's heart, but Lauren just can't fake it with her mom.  She tolerates her is about the best she can do.

OK, this is interesting because I got that vibe too! Now, as I've said in a previous post, it always seemed to me that Lana was just THERE. Lana did show more of herself in this episode, but there is no doubt in my mind that Lauren is WAY closer to Dwain. The Lauren/Lana dynamic just adds to the "off" aspect of the Swansons.

In contrast, I feel like Kendra has different but close relationships with both parents.

I was barely watching and still found the episode to be ridiculous. My impressions in no particular order –

Wait – did she really comment on his breath?? When? I caught his comment re how the 52 notes will be helpful once they’re in daily life and mad bc their spouse squeezes their toothpaste from the middle and leaves gunk in the sink – and she said – he’s talking about me. That’s quite the critical relationship right from the get-go when you are supposed to be – head over heels/stars in your eyes – in love. I don’t recall Kendra ever criticizing Joe like that until after marriage and even then I literally only remember ONE comment from the honeymoon – uh don’t lick your plate in public!?

Josiah – wiping his mouth after the first kiss? WTF? Yeah you haven’t kissed before, maybe it was a wet kiss. Live with it until you’re not standing in front of 1000 friends.

Did she really rebuff him on the 2nd kiss? I thought it looked like a cheek kiss bc she turned her head/leaned away. I guess that is rebuffing – but it’s not like he stood there puckered up and she said no.

Josiah if you’re gonna carry a woman the same size as you down the aisle, maybe train for a few months by lifting some weights. He was struggling and it looked like he was starting to run just to get down the aisle fast.

Car trashing – whatever. But the car they drove off in – could they not have taken 1 min to remove some of the post its?? He was literally driving being able to see nothing out the back window or any of the side windows. Is this a good idea??

There is literally a brother I have NEVER seen before – Justin? James? No idea who but I had no idea who he was when interviewing at the super market; I thought maybe it was Tyler so I don’t really recognize him either.

Lauren’s sister seems weird. IDK what it is – she comes across as a very awkward preteen; though I guess these people are barely 18 so that’s not that odd for the age albeit something I expect to see around 12 not 16.  Sounded to me like she threw that ridiculous tea party bc that’s what SHE wanted. If your sister is still into tea parties and princess themes (which came up during the whole V and D discussion I wasn’t following) – maybe she’s not ready for marriage? Just saying.

JD looks genuinely happy and I’m glad he is acting like a 28 yr old man and not asking mama and daddy when he can hold his girlfriend’s hand or if he should “court.” He is straight up dating. He introduced her as his gf to family – and came in holding her hand. He said he met her on a Sunday and by the following Monday, they were “courting” – i.e. he like a normal guy asked her to be his gf.  It’ll be interesting to see how they live life. I mean she is fundie like him, but with an LPN and saying she loves geriatrics – she has dealt with men; older men have urinary, prostate etc. issues so I’m 99.99% certain her wedding night won’t be the first time she sees a man’s d----.  That just means she lacks a certain “innocence” that fundies seem to require. So I hope she and JD live life as they see fit – whether that means she works or not; has 2-4 kids rather than 15; they travel; whatever THEY want.

Definitely. I also noticed Bin was making faces like "huh, really?" as Jessa was going on and on. Maybe he was expecting her to say their wedding was the best, but on the surface it looked like he didn't agree and was just too polite to say so.

The version of this episode posted on Amazon cuts off right as Josiah leans in for the kiss, so I missed the introduction of Abby entirely, which is ridiculous considering I paid actual money to see this episode (I don’t have cable). Anyone else having this problem? Maybe there’s a part two to this episode that Amazon hasn’t posted yet.

I only watch this show sporadically, so I don't know if this has been discussed, but is Lauren imitating Michelle's breathy voice? Is that really how she speaks all the time?

All the kissing after the vows was so awkward and felt staged. When they came down the steps, staged kiss, pick up bride and run (?!) down the aisle. Can't find car, kiss. Get in car, super awkward kiss. It felt like when you're at the reception and people clank their glasses so the bride and groom will kiss. It felt like someone else was saying it was time to kiss.

Si's reaction to the first look was...underwhelming. Thankfully, he managed to get into character and squeeze out a few emotions by the end of the scene.

The over-18 Duggar boys desperately need to get laid. They need more excitement in their lives than trashing wedding getaway cars.

Eta: Lauren's breathy "Dear Daddy" speech? Ewwwww. I almost vomited up my Greek salad (take that, Austin!) when Lauren proclaimed she'll always be his little girl. It's not even the sentiment that skeeves me out, it's the semi-pornographic delivery.

I lost count how many time I told her I don't like her or that she's just creepy as I was watching. And that was before her wedding vows to Daddy. She also seems so incredibly phony too.

"Kiss" is the Duggar-approved euphemism for sex.

Did my eyes deceive me?  I'm pretty sure that there was a same-sex couple in the prenatal class.  Do ss couples exist in Duggar world?

He had to get daddy's approval before he was allowed to "officially meet" Abbie and be allowed to court. If he knew Abbie for awhile why did he wait until last year to court her. The Duggars and her family have known each other for awhile. Plus the fact, he and Abbie will probably be featured on the show before too long, so yes, JB has some say so in JD's life. I cannot imagine being 28 years old and having to wait until your father has to say it is okay to court someone you already have met at least once.

She cannot even say a complete sentence without drawing a noisy breath.  She almost sounds like early stage emphysema or COPD, but I doubt that.  Asthma is a possibility.

I watched the first kiss again.  At least Kendra's dad, who also officiated her wedding, had the decency to look away during the first kiss.  But Lauren's creepy dad was peering over Josiah's shoulder trying to see Lauren's face.  Creepy.  And Josiah did wipe his mouth.  Very noticeable and childlike.

Yup. It was in a joint talking head...towards the middle, maybe? ? My read on first watch and the part of that I couldn’t avoid REwatching for a screenshot of Unamused Female Guest behind JB is that he definitely did lean in again (after a disconcerting showy “wowza” eye gesture and then wiping his mouth), she PULLED BACK a bit, and he nuzzled their noses together instead. Sigh.

Oh, and echoing what someone else said, Josiah's response to the first look was underwhelming. When recounting it in his talking head, he says, "When Lauren tapped me on the shoulder, and I turned around to see her, I just saw her in her dress, I'm thinking, 'Wow, this is the day. She's here, we're in our outfits. ... This is really happening to me.'" Wow, harsh.

Only after all of that does he start talking about how good she looked. Contrast this to Joe's reaction to seeing Kendra: his breath was nearly taken away and he exclaimed, "my princess!" Somehow we're supposed to believe Josiah and Lauren are really in love. And during the first look itself while Josiah is talking to Lauren, he says, "I could hear you laughing out there, and I thought, 'Here comes the bride!'" Yeah, Lauren. I can see how you'd say he's romantic even though he doesn't think so himself. Is lying to themselves and each other just something they do now?

Yup, Jessa. This episode sure gave me the feels <massive eyeroll>.

I know the Duggars invite everyone and anyone to their weddings but it seems strange to me that Dan Dillard, Jinger's MIL, etc were at Josiah's wedding.  How well do they even know him?  I can't imagine my siblings inviting my in-laws to their weddings, their children's weddings etc.  They met all my siblings at my wedding but certainly wouldn't feel they knew them enough to attend any of their weddings.  But I guess with the Dugs, the more people you invite, the more gifts you receive.

When you're already inviting 1000+ guests, what's a few more?

And that "loving on the cervix" instructor--wasn't that that Fedowsky woman who's married to the narcotics-addicted, license-revoked doc?

I wonder why they really got married.  It's so obvious that they are not in love ( like Joe & Kendra) were/are, not even in lust (Ben & Jessa were).   Lauren is a pretty girl (even with the gummy smile).  I'm sure she would have had many more opportunities for suitors.  Josiah's not a bad looking guy.  He should have followed in JD's footsteps and stayed a bachelor for as long it took for someone to come along to ring his chimes (like Abby rings JD's).

Look at the Bates men - all far better looking than any of the Duggar men - yet they don't seem to have a problem staying single until that special one comes along.  And they all bring more to the financial table than the Duggar men to boot.

I just don't understand why anyone that young would marry someone they're not heel over heels in love with in this day and age.
