Is anyone else counting the days until this wedding, or is it just me? I am so looking forward to it.

Yes! And hoping the bridal shower is this weekend. Not much Duggar news to snark on without the shower and wedding.

Hmmmm. Maybe JB & Mechelle are allowing the marriage so that they will have a legitimately trained nurse to care for them in their dotage. No office chair wheelchairs for these two!

(I kid, sort of...)

That was seriously my first thought when I heard "geriatrics..."

They may realize that they can't count on Jana's loyalty towards the younger children to carry over to caring for their ancient asses, plus none of their kids have enough education or common sense to take care of them. I bet Jim-Bob has an extra big smile when he says "Welcome to the family, Abby!"

Jim Bob isn't going to be rolled around in an office chair, and Michelle isn't going to spend her old age doing Anna's laundry!

No disrespect to LPNs. I work with some truly awesome LPNs. (I work at a hospital that DOES hire LPNs.)

No disrespect to nursing home nurses, but it is a different skill set than working in a hospital setting. Not harder, not easier. Just different.

Also: LPN programs do not have any college requirements.

The junior college program from which my LPN aunt graduated most certainly does have college requirements. You can't paint all LPN programs with the same brush.

The LPN program I graduated from had very stringent entrance requirements and also required more clinical hours than the RN program.  I work in a hospital and do the same hands on care as the RN, I just don't do charge on the floor like I did in a nursing home, I do blood transfusions but an RN has to sign off on it and I don't give chemo but I start iv's, push iv drugs and give iv antibiotics.  I'm in Georgia and I know all states aren't the same.

In my community, if you want to be an LPN, you go to the local trade school.  If you want to be an RN, you go to the local college.  There used to be two college curricula here for RNs (Associates Degree and Bachelors Degree).  Now, the college only offers the Bachelors.  I don't know how many years you have to go to the trade school for LPN.

Every time I click on a story about these two I have to read about the LPN versus RN thing haha

I'm not even from USA so I have no idea what that means lol

Count me in with those looking forward to seeing how this wedding looks like.

I was an LPN before becoming an RN, and honestly I feel like working as an LPN should be a required part of nursing education! You get a feel for what it's like in the trenches before you handle really high acuity patients and lots of crappy paperwork. That being said, LPN programs, with lower entrance requirements will also attract people who are averse/unable to perform in higher education. I went to school with and worked with a lot of Jehovah's Witnesses (who don't believe in college/higher ed) who wanted to be nurses. Abbie and Lauren remind me of those people - religious, and only pushing the limits of what is permitted so far. Jill Duggar is an even more pathetic version of this type of person. Abbie may or may not be a good nurse, I'd have to hear more of her work history to know if she's ever actually worked as one. For what it's worth I also went to LPN school with people who had graduate degrees, and became great nurses.

Most states will let you challenge the LPN NCLEX after a certain amount of hours in an RN program, Many people do it to make extra money in school and rack up nursing experience before graduating, or because they have to leave the program for some reason. Most employers in my area will factor in years as an LPN so you're not starting at new-grad RN pay, too.

There really is a ton of overlap between both roles, but I wouldn't trust that Abbie, who may possibly have a bit over a year of SNF experience max, to do most of these things. I would trust her to keep 25-35 patients alive, though!

As horrible as it is to say, I hope they both get the Nurse Ratched treatment, by everyone in their lives.

Good for JD.

But actually the LPN education his sweetie completed, isn't exactly a "college degree." However, it is post-secondary education.  It looks like she successfully completed the LPN training offered at a vocational school in Ada, Oklahoma, and she would be eligible for licensure as an LPN, I assume in most states. I think that training takes about a year and requires a high school diploma or GED in order to enroll in it. She may have received some kind of certificate or certification to note her completion of and graduation from the training program.

I'm not looking down my nose at that!! The world needs LPNs and it's a real medical licensed role, unlike Jilly Muffin's bogus maybe-kinda-some kind of midwife status. Edited to add: Here's the LPN program page from the school she attended: https://www.pontotoctech.edu/ftp/practicalnursing Girl was not sitting around slacking, if she got all that coursework done in about a year and then passed the licensing exam.

It's also more structured education than any Duggar has ever completed. Actually, JD's getting his pilot's license is probably the most a Duggarling has accomplished in the real world of education and training and, you know, sustained WORK. Ahem.

I wish them well.

His would also explain the flights to Ada, OK that I have seen over the past several months.

^^Those are older posts from the "Lonely J's" topic - before this one was created. With the deets - linked above - of the LPN training that Abbie received. She's from Oklahoma, which is where she received her education and is licensed to practice. Thought it might help with this LPN discussion.

She's compact licensed for other states, too.

Wedding week!

Can't wait to see the pictures of JD's face after the honeymoon. I hope the wait was worth it.

I was just thinking the same thing.  JD gets laid this weekend!

I don't 'think' JD has acne like Josiah did, but if he has some, he should get clearer skin.  And JD will enjoy it, while it seems doubtful that Josiah did, to me.

Based on that car video we saw of them on their honeymoon, it's possible Josiah might have, but I certainly doubt Lauren did.

I just realized that Daylight Savings Time starts this weekend. That means JD and Abbie get to have an extra hour in bed on their wedding night.

Boy this wedding has been sooooo hush hush. Not one picture of a bridal shower, no pictures of a possible wedding dress shopping trip, no other clues whatsoever as to how it's going to go down.

I really hope so. The Duggars threw Lauren's bridal shower and it was dismal.

They must be filming. I’m surprised Jill hasn’t posted something she was then told to remove.

I wonder how long it will take to air.

Oh, I would love for them to have a courthouse wedding.  JD can wear a suit & Abby a nice shorter length dress.  There would only be 2 friends as witnesses.

A person can dream can't she?

@MrsClaus, I like the Vegas idea too.

With the emphasis these people have on immediately making babies, I'm pretty sure every guy and gal is thoroughly educated on the mechanics of reproduction.  They may not know math or science or history, but they know exactly how to (most likely) quickly and efficiently make sure the eggs and sperm meet up on the wedding night.

No, that scene with JB and Josh was faked for the cameras because TLC insisted that they get to show "the talk." It was one of the things Anna's ex-BIL said way back when he posted on twop.

I imagine the Duggars' sex education is much like the one I got in Catholic school--all the mechanics explained right alongside with explanation about why birth control is evil and why you have to wait until marriage.

What a shame Michelle needs to be stuck in Anna’s or one of her kids laundry rooms for eternity, the way she treated Jim Bobs mum is disgusting.

I think the molestation disproved that. Jim bob and Michelle are obsessed.

Josh had already learned it from all the porn he watched.

It's surprising that we haven't seen any pictures or heard any chatter regarding a wedding. Didn't a poster here mention they had a loose connection to Abbie's family? I'm guessing some guest has posted to Instagram or something.

Tater Tot Hell? Or maybe they turned Jilly Clingy loose in their can pantry and she’s making slop of whatever soup.

So, if TLC shows this (is there any doubt) who else besides Dillweed and Joshley will be off-limits for filming purposes?

TTH.  Tinker Toy House, or as @SMama used it, Tater Tot Hell?  Kind of nice how that worked out.
