I'm not surprised. If you didn't grow up cooking, the first time you "really" need to cook is when you go to college - except for the whole meal plan thing. Then there's med school and residency - where you literally eat most every meal in the cafeteria or from a local take out place. So neither one of them had to cook until they had husbands and (in Simone's case) kids. So you have your spouse cook, or you hire a maid/cook because nobody has time for that and voila, you are a 50-something year old that can't do anything more than heat up canned soup.

I think the first time I realized I needed to cook was post college... spending and spreading...

too much spending on just food... you realize you now have a few more $$ coming in, and yet the bottom line looks like it did in college..

too much spreading and growing out of "corporate america" work clothes... metabolism does slow down in the 20s - esp. when your not running to class every hour, carrying a heavy backpack.

I guess in DRs Simone and Jackie - they had so much $$ coming in, that didn't miss the $$ for paying for takeout (ie restaurants do make $$ - charging $10 on a bowl lettuce that costs $1.99 bag at Aldi's ) and Jackie works out so much, she was able to keep the weight off.

YEA!!

LOL, is “girl code” the new “friend contract”?

IT HAS TAKEN 7 DAMN SEASONS FOR JACKIE TO LOSE HER COOL AND I AM *HERE* FOR *IT*. Do you hear me?! 😂

Did Eugene gain all the weight back?

Not Quad all alone on ANOTHER couples’ trip. But looks like we do get to see some awkward dating scenes so I guess that makes up for it, LOL.

Bring on the mess!

In the preview, are they acting like Toya has no home to go to? What happened to the house they were building?

Maybe it's not finished yet and they need to move out of the house they're renting? The owner could be selling it or something.

Season 7, Episode 1:

"Open & Honest"

Toya and Eugene deal with the last of the house construction; Scott functions as a single father when Dr. Contessa's on the road; a gathering at Heavenly's Hollywood Glam party ends in chaos.

Is no one watching? Lol.

still do not like Jackie's husband. Would not trust him.

what was that hideous vehicle Eugene and Toya were driving? Seriously, how can they afford a 9000 sq ft house??

Contessa going back to school, because she wants to be the US Surgeon General? Not too full of herself.

Heavenly looked nice.  I'm glad Damon has his own ER service now.

Quad's wigs look turrible.

I'm not understanding why Conetessa came for Eugene like that.

It looks like the division is:

Mariah / Simone / Toya

Quad / Jackie / Heavenly

with Contessa as a free agent but probably on team Quad/Jackie/Heavenly, which is why they now have Buffie on team Mariah/Simone/Toya (for now).

I'm looking at Heavenly in a new light because if Damon did help Eugene out with a job and gave Toya & Eugene money to have their wedding, Heavenly could've busted them out on that at any time and she didn't.

[eye roll] any time Curtis is on the screen.

We didn't get any BFF scenes of Jackie & Simone in this episode...wonder if everything is all right?

Loved the lady who went along for the ride to see the new surgical place, "Where did you bring me to?"  Like she never saw or heard of the show.

The Dr. who had to get kids ready in the morning - your daughter is in school and you just realized now she needs matching clothes?  Do it the night before, sheeesh.

I missed what happened to Simone's son/college.  Did he flunk out while still attending all the parties?

I am guessing Simone's son flunked out of college last year. Was it Howard or Morehouse? Anyway, Cecil was making a joke and said that the son took a gap year WHILE he was in college last year. Lol. So, apparently too much fun and not enough studying. Now he is back home and enrolled at Georgia State.

Good point, I guess both couples have a mutual understanding and acknowledge that it is part of their past as friends since Eugene was the one that brought it up, but looking back it does speak well of Heavenly that she never brought it up as a form of attack.

I'm aware that Simon can be terrible and Mariah is a snake, but for some reason I can't stand Quad, so for the time being I'll side with the other team.

Contessa did way too much calling Eugene a big bitch, good for Toya and Eugene for their non-reaction, for now...

ETA: these ott parties confuse me. A grand opening party for an surgical center? With dress code being Hollywood? However, congrats to Dr Damon!

Contessa has a lot of anger for Toya lol poor Eugene didn’t deserve that. Dr. Jackie should have left Curtis. He doesn’t seem like he can be trusted still and his nurse is too cute to be “his” nurse. He needs a mrs doubtfire type lol.

Did they put a deposit down on the business?? Why, no Quad they did not. This is the second reality show that has subjected me to a coochie steam session. Shout out to "Seeking Sister Wife"

I wholeheartedly believe Mariah was snorting coke.

Simone has a lot of nerve talking about fashions. Maybe she pays more than Heavenly does but she won't be gracing  anybody's cover with those ensembles she puts together.

It's good to see Jackie happy but I still haven't forgiven Curtis. He's kind of coming off like he got away with it.  He's only sorry he hot caught.

Toya looked really pretty. I guess her mission is accomplished.

All of these Real Estate ventures look fabulous, but I dont think I'd have the patience to build from the ground up or do a complete remodel.

Speaking of Real Estate, look at Cecil selling houses and whatnot.

I'm bewildered by Contessa calling Eugene the definition of a big ass bitch. Too far. Toya did better than I would have.

I hate McMansions, so the house porn on these franchises does nothing for me.

I started watching last night but I couldn’t listen to Heavenly’s screeching.  I wasn’t ready yet.

The coke accusation is harsh, but the rest of the arguments seem so petty for all these self-appointed relationship experts. Plus, I hate that they always say men shouldn’t get involved in this, speak directly to another wife, or a husband needs to protect that.  They are all adults.

Also, I’m all for supporting local businesses, but if I were to have rejuvenation (I’m not), I’d want to be in a more clinical setting. I wonder what the gynos think about this trend.

So if Cecil is selling real estate, did he already have a license?  If not, that would take time, planning and discussion with Simone, which would make Simone’s complaining about his lack of a job silly.

The blond hair on Heavenly and Quad is a no from me, dawg. The ladies came back looking tired except for Contessa and Simone.

Team Simone, Toya and Mariah feels forced to drive a storyline.

I do like seeing Simone and Cecil back together as a family. I hope it sticks.

The less I’m shown of Curtis, the better. He is still a creep.

Agreed. Quad's is better than Heavenly's (Heavenly's is too brassy, plus I don't see the point of the roots - I guess it's to make people think it's not a wig, but ... come on now) but I don't like either.

I love Simone's family. I like that they seem to genuinely have fun together. The elder son's first date remains one of my favorite scenes in the series. I loved their dinner when the boys were clowning their dad for being Simone's assistant.

I don't like Curtis and think Jackie could do better. It seems to me that the lesson Curtis took from cheating is that he was right to do it because Jackie works a lot, which is bullshit.

And just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. They've gotten themselves into all kinds of trouble living beyond their means, especially where housing is concerned, so why not buy, like, a 5000 square foot house? That's plenty big!

Sorry for being  late to the party.

I liked the eposide b/c it bought out several  educational  points.

Yes-it is highly possible  the ladies and the parties made the young man's grades fall real fast, that does seem like  a stretch for  someone  who went to one of the most prestigious  private  college  prep school  in town.  he got into howard, with I guess a very decent  SAT score, as the family  joked about at dinner. A young  person doesn't  just fall  off the course that quick.

Then to go from howard to GA state- that is a big jump. There are plenty of ladies and parties there too.  😁

Next-  I am proud the contessa is taking classes  to revamp her career. Many adults would shy away from taking classes/going to school (or even opening a book) to get the career they  want. I guess she is trying to get into the CDC doing more public  health  work. wonder what  school  she is going  to. And why it couldn't  be done online, at Emory  or ga state. This woman knows how to hussle- i.m still  impressed  by her going into the navy and getting her MD paid for debt free.

Sidenote: the current surgeon general , Jerome Adams  (link )is nice eye  candy. 😉

I.m even  proud of Cecil for  going to real estate  school. I do wonder  if that $900k sale was  dr. Jackie/Curtis house.

Now I think  Curtis should have stayed in school as the coach. What the hell else does he do and now he would  have more time on his hands to complain.

I figured that was for production.  A 5 yr old knows what she wants to wear , and big sister is right there popping in her comments. Not to mention a dad knows what he wants or has seen his daughter in. Lastly I figure those 2 Drs send their kids to private school where they would be in a uniform.

Anyone interested in how these kids view college, especially the well-to-do ones, should watch Grownish.  I was appalled but then I remembered my youngest niece completely messed up and had to be, literally, dragged home by her parents.  She comes from a middle class family and had to do a student loan for a major portion of her tuition.  Her parents found out because the tuition loan people wanted their money and here they were thinking she was actually going to school.

My best friend and her husband let their 4-year-old pick out his clothes, so sometimes he looks crazy. But ... he's 4 and who cares? As long as it's weather-appropriate and clean (he has two t-shirts that are his favorites and sometimes they have to be like "but that has a stain on it from last night's dinner, so put it back in the hamper"), they're good with it. Scott could take the same approach with his kids.

I went to an Ivy and a classmate of mine, who had gone to one of the best boarding schools in the country, fucked up his grades the first year. His father was like, you have ONE semester to turn this shit around or I am dragging your ass home, and you won't be sitting around my house feeling sorry for yourself either. If you want to fuck up, you will not do so on my tab. (He did turn it around, though he had to take a couple of summer classes after we graduated.) It wasn't about money - he came from a really wealthy family - it was about ... not fucking up. Like, yes, you're a legal adult and you should have some fun, but your job is to go to school and do well, and you are not doing that. At all. And that won't fly.

I have a family friend who got into an Ivy, fucked up the first year, and her parents pulled her out and she finished her degree at a state school while living at home.

It surprised me to hear that about Simone and Cecil's son, since he seemed to be pretty academically inclined. But maybe the freedom was too much for him.

Episode 2:

Quote

"Stirring the Teapot"

Contessa's pursuit of education is a bone of contention between her and Scott; Toya puts on a brave face for her family; Quad shares the latest on her divorce; Jackie hosts a party to try to set things straight.

Quad kept Simone waiting at least 45 minutes at the restaurant. I would have been out of there after 15 minutes, but I guess Simone had to stay there for filming. Such a passive aggressive move on Quad's part. On a shallow note, I really wish Simone would get braces.

Is Contessa doing a Masters in Public Health? Maybe from Vanderbilt? I had thought you could do a lot of those classes online, with occasional trips to the university. Just wondering why she had to actually move to Nashville and how long is her program--two years?

I laughed when Quad said she couldn't even lay up with a broke man. "Why would I do that?"

Sad for Toya. Eugene's recorded reaction was sweet.

I was with Scott when he said it was 9 PM so of course the kids had been fed - bringing home McDonald's at 9:00 for kids as young as Contessa's, especially the younger two, seems silly to me. However, Scott calling Contessa's career change a "harebrained scam [sic]" was indeed rude. Seems like Contessa's storyline is more mom guilt. Why don't they get some help? Miss Renee was ridiculous, but why don't they get a new nanny or housekeeper?

I cannot stand people who are always late, and by all accounts Quad is always late. It's so damn rude - Quad's time isn't more important than anybody else's, and I bet she's on time to film Sister Circle. I leave after 15 minutes too.

After tonight's episode, here's another DVR dump for me.  Right now the only one of these shows I'm keeping is RHONY.  I may be alone in this but frankly I can't stand Quad and I never could, and Toya and Heavenly set my teeth on edge.  I used to like Jackie and Simone when they're together discussing it all, but now it looks like there's nothing more here than several armed camps.

And from what I could tell, Quad invited Simone out for dinner, was 45 minutes late, and sat down and attacked her.  I did like Simone's quip "I see, no small talk, just down to it."  I'm glad she walked out on her.  But I would have been gone the minute Quad wasn't at the restaurant when I arrived (if indeed she made the date) and had left no apology for being late with the matre'd.

This show has "jumped the shark".  I don't believe much of what is presented is "organic".

I think that whole Contessa/husband thing was manufactured for their storyline for the year.

I cannot stand Heavenly's posing ass and these fake, uncute  conversations she has with her daughter (who by the way did she have botox in her lips... gawd..)

Quad is like a 30's movie/theatre actress always over emoting and dramatic.  She is still trying to get herself, and whatever her brands are out there..  I never did like her nor her very obviously put on inflections in the way she speaks.

Conflict after conflict then making up just to go back into new conflicts is getting really old.

Is it rude, or is it the truth?

Contessa allegedly quit her physician job because she was teary eyed about not seeing the kids' first moments, missing out on their childhoods, closer to the nanny than her etc.

When she gave up medicine full time, then she found out being a SAHM isn't all it's cracked up to be, so she decided to do it part time.

Now she's in a whole 'nother state, missing those kids moments she was crying about a season or two ago.  Was the TN program the only program she could've gotten into to advance her medical career, or were there medical schools closer to Atlanta or online options she could've explored?

Contessa is looking like her BFF Britten from M2M LA, leaving her family out in Florida to explore career options on the other side of the country, as if there are no options in between Florida and California.

I just wonder if Scott thinks this new pursuit of Contessa's is a scheme/scam because this is just another instance of her being gung ho about a pursuit and then quickly losing interest afterwards.

Then, Contessa quipped Scott & the kids should've packed up and come with her to Nashville.  So Scott is supposed to leave his job and uproot the children so Contessa can chase her dreams for a few years at most in another state?  He knows her better than we do, he's probably figuring in a year or so the "Surgeon General" dream will be another dream tossed away and forgotten, along with thousands of dollars in tuition money or newly incurred debt.

I'm not saying Scott is perfect; he needs to stop crying about being a single dad and get on with it just like millions of other single parents do every day in America. (and he's not a single parent).  Hire another nanny if need be.  Hire a cleaning service.  Advancing yourself is admirable; however if your partner knows you like to initiate new projects and dreams but you never follow through, that's a problem.  It's exhausting and it erodes trust.

Second post to say Quad needs to get over herself.  I would never wait 45 minute3s for somebody at a restaurant and then once there to restart a fight?  Nope.

Quad thinks she is  somebody and I look at her and laugh.  She married well and then got on this show.  Otherwise, she has zero redeeming qualities.  I write about her on-line but I would never be friends with her in real life.  She has nothing going for her.

I thought that Scott said scheme, not scam. I thought the junk food drive-through was completely stupid, especially at that hour of the night and that Contessa is feeling guilty about spending time away every week, which is why she bought the McDonald's bribe for the kids. She knew they'd been fed. That said, while I sympathize with Scott a tiny bit, why the bloody hell doesn't he hire a housekeeper to come a few days a week to clean, cook and do the laundry. Jackie can probably recommend a great service because she sure as fuck doesn't cook or clean and I doubt Curtis spends much time in the kitchen or laundry room.

I'm not liking this season so far because of all of the fighting. What happened to our show?

I kind of like Quad because she can be very funny, but she was so damn rude. Girlfriend sat down and offered not one word of apology for being so late and then wanted to rehash old news they'd gone beyond a year ago? No, ma'am, as they say down there.

Following closely on contessa education persuits..I agree - why the extended stay in Nashville. ..and given her already impressive resume- why Vandy? She needs the education more so than the name of the school (as long as its accredited). Emory should have been fine - and she could at least be home.
