Jeopardy! Season 35 (2018-2019)

Anyone else notice the new champ looks a whole lot like the old champ, but with straighter hair?

I probably would not have been ruled correct on FJ by saying "The city where the shootout at OK corral happened".

If only I could be on Jeopardy.  I was SO HOPING when Alex set Adrianna up with the 'I understand we share an interest/hobby', whatever he said, she would reply, "You're into torture porn too!!!"

Another category tonight for Alex to show off his accent.

Ending the week on my usual high note----no clue for FJ.  lol

I did get cinnamon, dog (so sad that none of them knew The Art of Racing in the Rain), Stan Lee, and Holy Sepulchre.

I got Steve McGarrett, Robert E Lee, St. Paul’s, and FJ-Tombstone.

(Two of my favorite surprises on my trip to London in 2012 happened in or near St. Paul’s. When we visited it, the London Ballet was rehearsing for a performance there that evening, so we got to watch a professional dance troupe for free and see a national landmark at the same time. A few days later, Mom and I were walking from the Globe Theatre to the bus stop in front of the cathedral when we passed two cyclists loudly arguing over their map. I had studied my map of the area so thoroughly the night before that I was able to point them in the right direction even though it was my first trip abroad.)

(BTW, a new miniseries of Watership Down will be shown at Christmas on BBC One, followed at a later date on Netflix elsewhere! https://screenrant.com/watership-down-tv-series-images-cast/ )

(ETA: my aunt and uncle had seven kids in seven years. Aunt C actually had a year off at the end—#5 and 6 were twins and a year separated them and the last child.)

As someone who is emphatically child-free by choice, I can't imagine having five kids under school age in my home. My sister has six, but they're really spread apart in age, and even her house stresses me out. Yikes!

I had two kids - and I can't imagine having 5 in my home either.

I also couldn't come up with McGarrett, though I knew the show was Hawaii 5-0.

It took me a ridiculously long time to come up with it, given I watched the original as a kid and watched the current one for a number of years (though I broke up with it a couple of years ago, so I'll blame that on my fuzziness.)

I thought of Titanic at first (the only movie I associate with 1997), but then I realized that the movie was likely from 1996 to have won an Oscar in 1997. And then I had absolutely nothing!

The only movies I associate with a year are Star Wars and Jurassic Park (for very different reasons). The rest blur in general era divisions, so I have to go by the rest of the clue to manage.

My boyfriend doesn’t chase dogs but does like to go to dog parks and pet the dogs, since she is from SF I suggested he be on the look out for her next time he is at one. He would love a dog but we can’t have one and a rent controlled apartment in SF is priceless, so no dog for him and she could have a similar situation.

I've gotten to the age that after my current two cats are gone, any new cat I bring in will probably outlive me, unless I go for an ailing, senior cat. I'm sure that once I become catless, I will be at my vet's, loving on all the adoptable cats/kittens (they currently have 5 - two half-grown kittens & 3 adults - all seriously in need of someone to listen to their purring.)  I work there part-time and when I need a break, I go cuddle the kitties. Stella & Bosco are now used to me smelling like I've been cheating on them with other cats.  Did y'all see that online article about the old man that goes to the shelter to brush the cats, sits down on the couch with them, and then falls asleep? The kitties all seem to like taking naps with him on the couch. I saw the guy's picture and, no, he's not my brother, although I can imagine Joe doing that once all his 4 cats have passed on.

I said Tombstone, but I couldn't remember which state it's in. I couldn't think of McGarrett's name, either. Never watched any incarnation of Hawaii Five-O, but knew "Book 'em, Danno," came from it.

I always get Stonewall Jackson & RE Lee confused. I have seen "Little Sorrel," Jackson's horse, stuffed, in the museum of VMI in Lexington. But if you ask me tomorrow who Little Sorrel belonged to, I'd have to think hard before I'd come up with Jackson & not Lee. They're both traitors to the US, anyway, so I really don't care which is which...except for getting J! responses correct. Hahahaha

I missed yesterday's episode and now will have to watch it online since clues were related to my specialties of dogs and horse names. That picture of Lee on the grey Traveller is famous. At least to me. Lee did have other horses, but Traveller is the well-known one.

From age five on I saved every penny I could to buy my own horse. (Which I did 10 years later.) Westerns were the big deal on television then, and I watched all of them, memorizing horses' names, of course(s). So FJ was easy peasy for me. I knew it was the shootout at the OK Corral, which means Tombstone. There was a tv show "Tombstone Territory" back in the day.

I still love those old BW westerns.

This is new news to me! So thanks. I need to check that out. I have seen Trigger, stuffed at the Roy Rogers Museum in Victorville. The Rock Island Arsenal museum used to have stuffed horses posed pulling a caisson. Moths eventually won that war and the horses were removed years ago.

I remembered Traveller’s name from the Ken Burns’ Civil War miniseries, when they spoke of the Confederate soldiers “passing their hands over Traveller’s side as Lee passed them” after the surrender at Appomattox.

Mr. Zoey and I watch Wagon Train every day, and usually watch at least one Death Valley Days that we've recorded; we watch it at 7 p.m. so we don't have to watch "Wheel of Fortune" before "Jeopardy" comes on at 7:30.

We've seen Misty (of Misty of Chincoteague" fame) and Stormy, Misty's filly, at the Museum of Chincoteague Island.

I'll miss Adrianna. Not a fan of the new champ. Ben was a swayer, but I would have preferred him over Elizabeth if it were Adrianna's time to go.

My Friday TS were Steve McGarrett; Venice (Elizabeth's missed DD); cat; dog; Robert E. Lee; Stan Lee <cue spooky music>; St. Paul's Cathedral; Church of the Holy Sepulchre. I got FJ which impressed Dr. Toothbrush, and I told him it was because of the TV show. Which he reminded me was Deadwood, not Tombstone. So I got it right for the wrong reason..lol

The clue writers sure made Alex happy with all the French pronunciations in Friday's game. Two clues in the news reporter category boiled down to "name the state capitol"

We watched Friday's game Saturday night & fully expected a George HW Bush clue when the electoral college category was announced.

The Wagon Trains that are currently being shown have John McIntire as Wagon Master Chris Hale.  My grandpa really liked Seth Adams/Ward Bond.

Our favorite Death Valley Days have The Old Ranger Stanley Andrews as the announcer/presenter.  The ads aren't included usually, but I have seen some for 20-Mule-Team Borax.

I liked the category somewhat stolen from the show Chain Reaction with celebrity names in a chain.  I couldn't get one (Sebastian Stan? Never heard of him), but had the rest.

It was a shame Adriana didn't follow my dad's FJ betting rules.  If you're in third and the top two are close together and have to protect against each other, bet nothing.  Generally, the only way you're going to win is if the top two get it wrong.  By betting nothing, you then win whether you get it right or wrong.  She would've won had she bet nothing.

I guess you've never watched the Captain America or Avengers movies. I know him from them, because I've been dragged to the movies by my grown kids (they are entertaining - there's just too many of them for me to keep up). He was also in I, Tonya, though I didn't recognize him until I looked up the credits.

Jeopardy is canceled here today so President Bush's motorcade/procession can be aired for three hours instead. So I miss two days in a row. *sigh* I guess you guys who live where it airs in the evening will be able to still see the episode.

go Dave!  Although, his mustache is not nearly as awesome as he might think. I also really wanted him to tell us how many years he's been retired, since I think that's what Alex was trying to pull out of him. Then we would actually know how long he's had the mustache.

I only got Mayo Clinic and had no clue for FJ, so my game seems to be going along as normal.

Not sure. Didn't they ask for the last name? I don't know what the rule is--maybe since it included the name it would count. The judges are schizo, so who knows what they would decide.

So glad Dave won.  The vocal fry on the women was killing me.  Plus he has that amazing moustache.  FJ was an instaget for me, and like @teebax, I thought kevlar was kind of funny.

I was a bit distracted (probably by the vocal fry), so I only got the Mayo Clinic.  I feel like I should have gotten dadaism, since this show loves dadaism, but it just didn't come to me in time.

I was significant;y more bothered by Elizabeth's vocal fry than Bernadette's. Dave doesn't have that issue and it is a great mustache indeed. I think it would have won a Movember Men's Health mustache contest.

I got Brooks Brothers although I'm not sure where I learned that from. Kevlar would have come in handy for the Presidents that got shot. Alas, it wasn't developed until the mid 1960s.

So glad Dave beat Elizabeth. Had she continued as champion, I was going to have to stop watching due to her prissy, vocal frying manner of speaking. Dr. Toothbrush was very impressed by Dave's mustache, and was disappointed that he did not answer Alex's question in regards to the length of time it took for him to grow it. I told him not to get any ideas for his own retirement!

The only TS I got was Bernadette's missed DD of Mayo Clinic. FJ was an instaget, probably because it was fresh on my mind since I got an e-mail yesterday regarding a 40% sale they're having this week.

When Alex said the answer, Bernadette didn't have that moment of recognition we see so often. I think she didn't know about the Mayo clinic (I didn't get it because it refused to come forward in my brain, even though I knew it).

I didn't "know" FJ, but the guys named were apparently brothers, so it wasn't a stretch to recall Brooks Brothers. It was a guess, but a reasoned one. As for them accepting "Brooks Brothers" - I guess the champ didn't think they would, as that's what she crossed out - "BROT..." - she got that far and then realized the clue was asking for the family name.

I've become convinced that "vocal fry" is some kind of elaborate prank y'all are playing on me.  I keep hearing people complain about vocal fry as the most horrible thing ever!  I keep clicking on links to clips that supposedly demonstrate it.  And I keep failing to hear anything unusual at all.  It's just people talking!  Whatever it is that gets folks so upset, I just do not hear it.

I was happy to see "The NFL" as the FJ category, because they rarely have sports for FJ. I got it quickly even though I didn't see that part of the draft, because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the only pirate-adjacent NFL team. "The Browns" was a truly terrible guess, god bless her.

I was very unhappy to see that subject but luckily I had enough team name knowledge to figure it out. But I think the Browns was no worse of a guess than any other team that wasn't right. Maybe she was thinking they're so terrible that they figured a bird could make picks as well as they could.

The Browns is actually not a bad guess because generally in the NFL. When you hear something like that happens, its often the Browns involved.  For example, when the Browns met to work out Johnny Manziel before the draft, neither the Browns nor Manziel bothered to bring a football.  To work out a quarterback. Its kind of hard to do without a football.  They had to borrow one somewhere.  Oh yeah, and the even worse part was actually drafting Manziel, in the first round.

So something like this happens, the Browns aren't a bad guess.

Many fans often say, out of all the Cleveland Browns in the world, they are the Cleveland Browniest.

I had heard that story vaguely but still could not come up with the answer, made sense once I heard it.

FJ was an instaget for me tonight — parrot led me to pirate, which led me to the Buccaneers.

I almost felt bad for the challengers tonight, until they kept just randomly ringing in with random wild-ass guesses.  Then I started hoping they’d both end up in the red, and Dave would get to play FJ all by himself.  Has that ever happened?

It made me a little sad that no one knew Henry Fonda and Jimmy Stewart.  I got those as well as early and Red Dragon.
