This Malena thing blows my mind. Kelli and Judy do criminal background checks and check social media etc, but they don’t check references ie call these girls’ former coaches and ask what’s up?!

It’s very standard in other careers to talk to former employers. I guess I am just shocked that didn’t happen here. Little Malena is adorable, has cute dance style and Kelli is right she’d be a fabulous ambassador.. but you don’t go from not being able to do flight crew choreography to being successful at dcc choreography in under a year.

They showed a super brief clip of her and she looked like she was about to fall down her feet were so sloppy.

This is the #1 thing that bothers me and shows the blatant favoritism. Kelli is CONSTANTLY commenting on feet, and whether you like VKs s****** dancing (JAY, CHARLOTTE) or not (everyone with eyes), you can’t deny that her feet are a MESS.

Yeah. She made the team, had too many memory mistakes and couldn't adjust to their expectations, so she only did appearance and never danced. All she wanted to do was dance. And, to add insult to injury, she was the only girl in the Jet's entire history to do this to.

Agreed. The definition of Judy’s favorite phrases “she just shuffles her feet around” and “she’s just stomping” lol. In fairness though it appears from next week’s preview that it will be VK’s turn to be under the microscope in the office?

 

Side note on Malena cause I saw some questions after my last post, she specifically stated she was the first girl in New York jets history to be benched from dancing (she still did appearances) solely because she could not retain choreography.

VK will be called in next week. I have a feeling they're showing this and being hard on Dayton because they want to show that they don't play favorites. They certainly never showed Cassie in the office and pretty much excused her horrible dancing by blaming it on her asthma.

I thought both VK and Dayton looked really pretty on camera in tonight’s episode.

 

Random thought. Last season in the alumni segment Cassie’s little speech was about how she wasn’t the girl who could just sit there and plaster a smile on her face all the time like a happy cheerleader should. She also seemed to have a more sarcastic/dry sense of humor. It’s reminding me of Dayton a bit.

That was an odd episode. Beach to hashtags to floppy arms and lost choreography to Malena breaking down in tears for getting benched. Dayton needs some coffee. And Kash (who I love) needs decaf. 

I'm going to go practice saying prrruunnee into a mirror now.

Yes I noticed this too!! But I was so confused because I can’t imagine they would have taken her into training camp knowing this. Maybe they found out after finals but before training camp started?

 

Edit: Or they knew during finals but her other qualities still made her a strong enough candidate to be a TCC. Like I said in my earlier post the girl is definitely beautiful. The choreography piece would just surprise me that K & J took a gamble on her as they would say.

I mean, yeah, it's a big job....but also SMU's football program isn't exactly...amazing. It's not like she's the director of on-campus recruiting for Alabama or anything. SMU feels lucky when we win 5 games in a season.

I need to get one of those band things (looking for the exact name) to attempt get that "line, lean and long" look. swimsuit season 2019 is coming ! :)

I guess the vets know when is the next year's calendar shoot, so they have most of the spring to get ready.

It looks terrible, like they are wearing a pastie (sp?), but just on the left breast.  Once I noticed it, I couldn't stop seeing it.  It's more noticeable on the rookie's pink tops than the vet's blue ones.

Kelli looks damn good in her swimsuit. I hate sexy hips, it's my least favorite thing they do. Oh dear Christina looked old. Love the background music this ep! I liked that Kashara was trying to pull the vets closer to the rookies at the start of rehearsals. That's what a good leader does. Dayton has a flat affect. Malena said recruiting operations, not straight up recruiting. I like her a lot! Veterans looked great. Kelli was a lot better than I expected on Dayton's office visit and Dayton needs to have a fire lit under her. Scenes from the next, I can't believe she was late for her complimentary makeover and more imporduntly, Marshall!

Calendar shoot looked really fun.   Everyone looked beautiful.   Swimsuits are a lot more flattering for the curvier girls than the DCC uniform - it seems like the curvier the girl the better they looked.  

Daphne’s speaking style really bothers me, and what’s up w/ her teeth? - very, very fake looking.  She also has major bags under her eyes or something.  She’s pretty, but doesn’t look real for some reason - almost plastic - if that makes sense. 

Carolyn does not look like a DCC in the face, but from the few seconds they showed, her dancing looked really good.

Kashara looked really heavy again in the first meeting.    Like she looked like a retired vet who came back in that dress.

I really like Taylor a lot - she’s so pretty and seems very genuine.   That’s crazy she was an 11 pound baby!

Poor Malena - she’s soooo adorable and pretty, but goodness - if you were benched on the Jets, what makes you think you can do DCC?   I was hoping she was gonna say she eventually got it together and was able dance again, but looks like no...eesh.

Dayton just looks really disinterested and emotionless.  And how on earth could she not know thunderstruck like the back of her hand at this point?  Just wow.  And showing up late for her makeover per the previews? - that’s like the DCC capital crime!

Next week looks like VK’s turn to get called in - I’m sorry, cause I know everyone disagrees, but she looks so pretty to me - and her personality seems so fun.

I wasn’t a fan of Tasha’s and Abigail’s (sorry everyone - ducking) segments.   Something about two gorgeous blondes going off about how pampered and privileged their lives are is just kind of eye roll to me...a pretty girl pursing a career in modeling??  “Groundbreaking”...(Miranda Preistly voice from Devil Wears Prada if anyone gets the reference ;)).

I can’t believe Jay was replaced! That makes me truly mad.  I was going to start off on a happy note saying I love they used a RuPaul song in the show...but no Jay?  I’m really angry. I also hate that custom bathing suit. It doesn’t fit! I actually didn’t like most of the suits. Now I’m being negative!

I really like her, but being benched for not picking up choreo at the jets does NOT prepare you to pick up choreo at DCC!  I wish she said she regrouped and mastered their style the next year. :(  Judy was kind and encouraging.

Tara...looking a little rough. Can they not do anything better to her stringy hair and horrendous roots?

 

Christina looks old. And way too skinny. Her personality is so different than the other girls. She has always annoyed me for the 800 times she's been on this show, but now that she is actually on the team, she seems cold and kind of bitchy. Her overall demeanor is very different from the other girls.

Jay has always been the Cheerleaders trainer. I don’t know anything about the Star and who their trainers are. I just know that Jay was the trainer and I adore him.

Was anyone else annoyed at how many times the vets mentioned wanting to be the calendar cover girl? It could have made a great drinking game LOL. But in all seriousness, I really prefer the past seasons where they barely mentioned the cover and it was about making it INTO the calendar at all.

There’s NO WAY that Dayton would’ve ever made training camp without being a legacy. She’s disinterested and boring. I’m not one bit surprised by the preview of her showing up late for her makeover. I hope she gets cut because I’m already over her. She’s not DCC quality at all.

Tasha is just way too much. Can we please have more Melissas (mechanical engineer) and less aspiring models/boutique owners?

I really liked the Bimini segments, especially the explanations regarding challenges such as bad weather.

Spare me the Cowboys Fit plug.

Malena is awful. I have always stood firm that Kelli truly gives the WOC every possible chance to be on the team, and Malena is no exception. I find it incredibly hard to believe that Kelli didn’t know about Malena’s struggles with the Jets before picking her for training camp. But she brought her in anyway, similar to Alexandria with her terrible kicks and memory.

I'm sorry I'm late to the season but has anyone mentioned why some of the pics on the wall of the practice room are blurred? Is it Erica because she's suing them because she's on the twitter banner for the show @DCCMTTonCMT with Kashara and Robin. Plus there are other women blurred in the pics on either side of Madeline and in some of the other pics. (sorry if this has already been discussed and if I'm spelling names incorrectly!)

RE: legacies... I almost wish they would dance for a couple of years on professional another team, or come from a very strong college dance team. Then try out for DCC.

I think that will give them more confidence and come out of their mom's shadow - ie making a name for themselves. And it will give K&J less to bring up, in terms of relations, - I see you danced for xxx-team and/or for yyy-univeristy dance squad. I think it will make panel judging better too - Yeah - she so-so daughter but look what else she can bring to the table.

Kinda like when Payton Manning went to TN as opposed to Ole Miss- to follow the shadow his father's stellar career. Sometimes you need to cut a tie and rebuild a new one.

The dance world is not the same as it was when their moms cheered. The DCC is not the same as it was 20+ years ago - more is expected of them now.

Initial impressions:

Malena is GORGEOUS.

Lacey is also looking crazy beautiful.  I really like what she's done with her hair - seems like she has a few more highlights, and it's so pretty.

Poor Khalyn was NOT happy about those rays ?

Kelli cracks me up, and I love her beach curls.

I know a lot of photographers do this, and it may not have bothered anyone at all, but I was getting irritated with the one who kept calling the girls "babe."  Just seemed intrusive and overly personal.
