The whole steak thing was strange to me.  Why cook a steak in a skillet?  They're so much better on a grill.  And aren't you supposed to cover the rice-a-roni when it's cooking so that it steams?  I'm surprised she even cooked rice-a-roni, as opposed to regular rice.

Those two walking eating disorders have no idea how to cook.  I'll bet Jesse drinks a lot of protein shakes instead of eating real food.  Darcy thinks meals only come from restaurants and I'm sure a lot of her "meals" have been wine.   In previous episodes, Darcy was serving up her kids a delicious nutritious meal of take-out pizza.  She probably asks what aisle the toast is in when she goes to the grocery store....

And pan-fried steaks are delicious!  Its the French way of cooking them.  But you do it on high heat so they sear.  Jesse and Darcy should have traded pans from what i could see.  Or the steaks could have been broiled.  Air BnB probably didn't have a barbeque.

If I was cooking dinner with my twin flame, especially if twin flame was from EUROPE where packaged shit is rare, I would not make Rice-A-Roni.  That's not cooking, that's opening a package of chemicals and heating. (no slag on the 'Roni!  I love that kind of crap, but I also know how to cook and would have made a real rice pilaf, a delicious vinaigrette for the salad and perhaps added an actual vegetable on the side).

It is a shame for Tarik that all those Fil/Am marriage boards are Ghost towns now. He would have known that there would be no public displays of affection. If he read that, no cameras , be they TLC or Lisa Ling would have been around . He have been prejudiced by the mongers who pay  prostitutes extra to make a. video for Porntube uploads

So true! Totally agree! I can picture her asking her girls if they want a nice homemade meal and pulling it some kraft macaroni and cheese.. she’s eating ice cream and junk food but tells people I only eat ORGANIC... she’s the queen of fake... she’s that one that says oh I’ll only have one slice of pizza I’m on a diet and then polishes off 2 bottles of wine...

On another note she has very masculine energy. She try’s to be girlie and she’s just not feminine at all to me

i do have a heart and sometimes I feel bad if I say something bad about someone on here, but with Darci I never do... idk she’s just so cringy!!

Or at least a nice baked potato or some kind of a side of some sort other than rice-a-roni. I make a "cool beans" salad that has jasmine rice, black beans, corn, cucumbers etc.... in a nice vinaigrette. Its fresh tasting but hearty.

They didn't want to go to too much trouble with the meal since they had no plans to actually eat anything.

I didn’t think Dean was all that loud or scary. He didn’t raise his hand or threaten her. Tarik  didn’t have to get up and protect her from him, nor did he go overboard defending her. IMO he may not have liked the way Dean asked the questions but he wasn’t upset that he asked. I wonder just what she has told him about the situation with her son. Tarik has expressed his concern about Hazel’s feelings for him. Yes he is hot for her, but he also wants her to feel the same about him. As stupid as we may feel these guys are, both Tarik and Ricky must have gotten the impression that the women WANTED THEM. If all Hazel wants is a ticket to the USA, I don’t think Tarik is  on board with that. He’s looking for a hot wife and decent stepmother for his child. I don’t think he wants someone he needs to prompt to kiss him, or who submits to his sexual advances as part of a deal she’s made in return for passage to the USA. His concern would be that once settled, green card in hand and possibly reunited with her child, she’d dump him. So while Dean was forceful and pointed in his demeanor, the questions were the same that Tarik has and probably doesn’t ask.

It will be interesting to see if the confrontation pushes them apart or brings them closer.

And I could be way off base here, but I'm willing to bet Hazel knows a few good moves (well placed kicks or jabs) to protect herself from a man.  I feel like she's had to learn those moves. Just a hunch.

Since we see only a small portion of their conversations, and highly edited at that, I don't have any idea what Tarik and Hazel have discussed about their intentions about their relationship or their children.

Re the AirBnB, sometimes, people on reality teevee rent a house for filming (Chantals family) because random people just start showing up at their house. One of the Braxton sisters had this happen so often, she had to move to a gated community. That's probably how Kyle Richardson got robbed. ( RHOBH)

Did Darci ever say why they were staying at an AirBnB as opposed to her condo?  Is it because her twin lives with her?  I personally would much rather be in my own surroundings, with my own cookware rather than living out of a suitcase.

I actually need to give Darcey props for going with an AirBNB.  Shocking, I know, but it's actually a good decision to keep her vacation ass apart from her kids.  That keeps them vaguely sheltered from her sex life, and their constant fights.

And I always cook steak in a skillet.  I don't own a grill, and I know how to heat up cast iron so I can get a sear.  I know what I'm doing, I've worked in a restaurant.

I need help from the Rice-A-Roni afficionados on this board.  I live a sheltered life here in Canada and our RaR choices are quite limited.  At the grocery store today, they only had 4 kinds:  Chicken, Beef, Teriyaki and Spanish.  Which one should I get?  This is an itch that must be scratched.

I also noted that the RaR packaging here says to try all four flavours.  "Flavors" in American. Sounds like my 90DF friends south of the border have a lot more interesting choices.

Let your heart decide.  Or your protein.  I'll be honest, they don't taste that wildly different.

And you've uncovered the dark secret of 90 Day Fiance.  The people from other countries only care about their love of different flavo(u)rs of Rice-A-Roni, not the people.

I'm just catching up on this thread.  I was in FIGHT mode when the initial Rice-a-Roni comments started to take a negative turn.  I was fixinna start reporting comments for hate speech.  Now on page 13, I'm happy to see the unwavering R-a-R support of so many of you.  In college, we ate it as a meal in itself, partly because we didn't know how to cook and mix foods and flavors and oh god you didn't want to waste food (even if it was 99 cent prepackaged rice meals).  Now I just get any flavor and dump a jar of flavored salsa in it and, well, it's still a meal.

This epi has me completely fascinated with Marlboro Angela.  Not every scene was it a good fascination, but I'm still fascinated nonetheless.  What else is tucked away in your bra, woman?

We've reached the point in the season where it looks like the next episode will feature all of the couples having the exact same "I just don't know if this is going to work out, I'm rethinking the marriage idea, I thought all we had to do was have wild vacation sex, etc" TH's of Staged Regret.  Mix it up, Producers, please.

I used to use the Spanish and added ground beef frozen corn and replaced what ever liquid with stewed tomatoes. That was a last minute easy entree. Used to really like it and my husband always appreciated everything with both working full time etc.     I also used the Spanish when I made tacos.   I had the teriyaki but don't remember  how it was.

Can’t go wrong with basic chicken flavor RaR.  It’s not just the San Francisco treat anymore.

As far as this week’s episode, I finally watched in its entirety.  I gotta admit, I have a totally different take on the Hazel/Dean showdown.  I didn’t find him particularly aggressive during the conversation. He wasn’t screaming or pointing in her face or anything.  He asked the questions that Tarik should have been asking, and her shifty ass couldn’t bullshit her way through it.

I took the comment about her kid a different way too.  I thought he was implying that if she was really dedicated and concerned about her kid, she would do whatever to get him back, including hitching her wagon to Tarik.  I think Dean would have respected her more if she just admitted it.  Personally, each of these chucklefucks need a Dean in their ear spitting some common sense.  His points in the talking head were valid, and you know when something doesn’t add up.  And I don’t think his perceived size played a role since he’s not that big.  That sounds too similar to those studies where white preschool teachers perceived black, male preschoolers to be bigger, taller and older than they are.  He’s not some big, mean black man picking on the poor, frail Asian woman.  Her ass is a gold digger and a schemer, and he called her on it, so she fled rather than defend herself.  Tarik is an idiot for going after her.

Back from the grocery store....totally forgot the Roni!!!  Fail.  It clearly wasn’t at eye level for me but I am neither Jesse size nor Carrot Cake sized.  I will get it on the next run...we are supposed to get a monsoon here on Sunday so it would be nice to have a boxed item in house.

Can someone post the meme of Who wore the ponytail better?  When I saw Dog the Bounty Hunter’s drugstore quality hair ponytail clip on hanging from the swing arm lamp I seriously busted out laughing, rewound the DVR, snapped a picture and sent it to a friend who tends to watch the show with it running in the background.  Indeed she had missed it.

I was just at a bakery that had beautiful mini carrot cakes.  But I don't eat walnuts, so I'll have to follow my four cheese roni with red velvet instead.  Maybe that choice will make me angry and I'll have to walk away.

Now I have to go get some Rice a Roni before the show tomorrow. I didn't know they still made it.

Rice a Roni is such a throw back for me from my childhood.  Flanksteak cut on the bias too.

I rewatched the dinner prep scene and I have to take Jesse's side and I cannot believe I am defeding Dutch Boy but Darcy did seem like she was nipping at his heels the whole time they were cooking.  The only thing that Jesse can change is his reaction to Darcy, he cannot change Darcironi.

We see a pattern in Darcy, she pushes and pushes then when the other person explodes she cries (litteraly) that she is a victim and that screams passive aggressive.  Her crying and begging Jesse to love her loop may explain why her past relationships ended.  It is exhausting to watch, I cannot imagine what it is like for her girls to watch that sort of thing play out each time Darcy gets a new guy.

In other news, Darcy has what I think is a large number of leather apparel in her wardrobe and Jesse has way too many hair clips.

Why do these people think they love eachother?

90 Day Fiance  has been on for years and I never had an interest in watching until catching up on one of  my faves, Four Weddings. On every commercial break (and there are a  lot of breaks) were ads for all the other TLC shows, so I decided to try this one out. I'm not quite sure if  I'm glad I did, but these people do keep me intrigued...and kind of scared.

Darcy and Jesse: I think this is the couple is the oddest. I missed season one, so I'm not familiar with Darcy's reasoning for being soo hooked on Jesse that she flew to Amsterdam to meet him. However, from the footage they included to update us (from that season and a reunion show) I don't even see why they are still trying...other than for more camera time. Which they get plenty of because they fight and bicker in every segment they are in. Darcy's daughters  seem more mature than either adult, despite Jesse's claims that he is the more mature of the two. As for that "big" family steak dinner, shouldn't every member have gotten a whole steak, and been able to cut it themselves? Maybe that's just in my family....

Paul and Karine: Again, I didn't see their earlier season, so I don't know what prompted him to travel through the  jungle, over rivers, and climb hills  to meet her the first time. But I guess they must have  had such a great time together for him to do it all over again, and to this time marry her and bring her back to the U.S. Except that they don't look like that much like a happy couple right now...

Angela and Michael: I have to admit, it was their clips in the ad that got me to try this show. Showing Angela crossing that rope bridge sold me, as I was wondering did she have to cross one just to meet this guy. Kind of disappointing that it was just part of a tourist-y outing. All I will add to the commentary is,  if Michael does make to the U.S. with Angela he's up for a rude awakening about her life.

Rachel and Jon: Their chemistry is kind of cute. I'd like to see them succeed as a couple, but...  wow,   the details of his visa denial and criminal record.  Also, his family and friends aren't trying at all to convince her that he'd be great for her, or her kids.

Tarik and Hazel: This guy is so devoted,  so in love, he traveled around the world and I don't know how many time zones to meet  her. I don't blame his brother for all the questions. One thing though, I noticed Hazel was already terrified and dreading the meeting with Dean long before the actual confrontation. From back at their condo, she was scared and needed reassuring to even go. Then as they approached the restaurant, she was still reluctant  and hiding behind Tarik. Why all this terror at meeting your future in-law? Then to run away after? Tarik wasn't nearly as nervous  at meeting her parents or  attending their church service. And, finally...

Ricky: Not quite sure why he's even on this show. Oh, right,  to meet the love of his life, Melissa. Who  never wanted to meet him. Accept his gifts, yes, but see in person, no. Enter Ximena who was so agreeable  to meet, at his place, it made my head spin just watching the show. Looking forward to see if she'll continue to be so agreeable once she finds out she's his second choice.

By the way, reading this thread had me looking at the Rice-a-Roni section in the grocery store yesterday and I'm not even a big fan of it. Nor do I need any because there's some in my pantry! I like to make it every once in a while, but Pasta-Roni and Knorr (or is it Lipton?) Pasta Sides, are more my taste.

I think every living one of us stopped for a moment at the Rice-a-Roni section of the store this weekend,   I counted twelve (12) flavors (sorry, friend in Canada!), including Cilantro & Lime.  I'm betting that one wasn't available when we were in college.

On show-topic .. at this point in the week it's tough to come up with something that hasn't been analyzed already, but maybe this:  I thought Tarik's brother Dean called, or texted, to say he was "in the bar downstairs", but then I was surprised that when they walked to meet him, they went along a long arcade past a lot of things, obviously not the lobby area of the hotel, and the place he was was obviously not a bar.  I just like to see some Continuity here.  We know the producers jiggle stuff around and we're used to it;  but that did jar me.

That's about it for the next 26 hours ..  except, poor Ximena !  "He came to Colombia to see me.."  Hope he pays dearly for that.

Just a random thought about Jon the garbage gnome (thanks whoever came up with that).  He’s pretty pocket sized; I mean dude is short as hell.  He probably got picked on a lot when he was young, especially in a tough neighborhood with any level of crime or poverty because we all know hurting people hurt people.  He probably got into most of those fights  when he was younger, and became a bit of hothead as a result.  It would also explain why he bulked up his physique.  I don’t think 50-60 fights is anything to sneeze at, but it doesn’t necessarily make him a violent fool that flies off the cuff for any reason.
