John Potts July 7, 2018 Share July 7, 2018 Quote In a dramatic showdown, humans and Synths go head-to-head, but will Mia and Max's peaceful protest cost them their lives? Laura, Niska and Mattie face major decisions. OK, that was half compelling drama and half complete bullshit. The whole political angle with the government (and in the most two faced, "We're not doing anything!" sort of way) was compelling: Odi/Vi as the Synth Messiah and Niska's quest was a bit far fetched and the Synth/human blood creating a new being was frankly ridiculous. At last, we had Max stepping up and actually leading and poor Mia (Noooo!) as the sacrificial victim: I rather liked the kid Synth (Sam?) being the one to kick things off because "he didn't understand" (I guess they made the child Synths more "basic" so they could learn to adapt like real children might). Laura really went to the mat for the Synth cause (though, really, treason? The government's never going to make that charge stick). And I guess Mattie is stepping into the role of mother for her siblings (well, her sister, at any rate) since it looks like Laura will be facing jail time. Could have done without the magical baby, though! 1 Link to comment
snowwhyte July 8, 2018 Share July 8, 2018 As soon as Mattie found out she was pregnant I thought magical, human synth baby but it is such a cliche and it makes no sense so I convinced myself that they weren't going to do it. How does Leo having synth blood that has altered his blood equate to a human synth baby? Do synth have a genetic code? Leo's genetic code should still be human. I really wish they weren't doing this storyline. I wasn't a big fan of this season. I didn't like the separation of characters and storylines. Niska had barely any interaction with the rest of the characters and neither did Mia. The original synths were meant to be a family but they were a very fractured family this season. 1 Link to comment
jane1978 July 17, 2018 Share July 17, 2018 Oh god, this was bad. Why is everyone acting so idiotic? Even Niska, who used to be the smart one. Mia actually has to run to the compound because apparently nobody has a cellphone. The idiotic woman spy uses an offline recording application when she could easily stream it live. There is suddenly no Synth supporters on the streets and everybody believes the fake MSM news even when it´s a fabricated lie and they show zero footage. When the former mechanic thug tells Mia he wants his life back she just stays there and says nothing instead of immediatelly argue that the new orange eye synths are still there and even more reliable as slave workers so destroying the green eyes changes nothing. Laura does the big revelation skyping from home instead of contacting her online supporters and immeditelly going to the compound raising maximum media attention and to get between the attackers and Synths hiding inside. And then we have the hard sci-fi part of the story which was so full of the worst clichés not even Westworld dared to go there (so far). Sorry writers, but I don´t care about Niska as the protector of the magical hybrid child. I liked her as the somewhat selfish but smart and resourcefull woman just fine. And what exactly is Vi´s plan? Wait till the child grows up, can date and then spreads the synth part of his/her dna between other humans? Vi did nothing to stop the Basewood, because apparently it needed his martyr in Mia. And now it will continue to hide while Niska does his work on Earth like some new Moses? Stupid. Link to comment
FoundTime July 18, 2018 Share July 18, 2018 I think I'm done with this show, or at least I won't care much if it's not renewed. I was multitasking during episode 7 and once I started giving my full attention to episode 8, I just couldn't get engaged. I found I didn't care about anyone, synth or human, and that is a far cry from S1 when I loved the family and Mia (and Odie!). And a couple of eps back, I was perfectly fine with Agnes blowing herself up. Buh-bye, you were a pain. I don't know exactly when this show went off the rails, and I'm really not used to British series failing this hard. Usually they are smart enough to pull the plug when it's time. 1 Link to comment
Haleth July 19, 2018 Share July 19, 2018 Agree. I seem to have missed ep 7 somehow but don't care. This was awful. The whole season was awful. And now the one character I cared most about is dead. The magical hybrid baby storyline was ridiculous on BSG and it will be no better here. I'm done. 1 Link to comment
scrb July 20, 2018 Share July 20, 2018 This kind of felt like it could be a series finale. Unlike WW, when synths die, they’re gone. No unlimited number of new bodies and then loading the brains. Where were all these human supporters of synths before? All they showed were the angry mobs throughout the season. Now most people are sympathetic because of martyrdom? The angry mob blame synths for taking their jobs. But it would be like bank tellers being mad at ATMs. They should be mad at the bean counters who replaced them with technology, the customers who continued to support businesses which replace workers with automation and finally the government which doesn’t have programs to help people displaced by technology. They started this season with synths being treated like minority communities, especially immigrants. They finish with synths being treated like scabs who take away people’s livelihoods. I guess if they have another season, they’ll be recognized as sentient beings worthy of having civil rights? Especially if Mattie gives birth to the hybrid baby, it’s suppose to increase political support? It could also cause many to recoil in horror. I didn’t quite get Leo saying his father was only about synths being slaves. If that was the case, why did he develop the code to make them conscious? Link to comment
meep.meep July 25, 2018 Share July 25, 2018 This turned stupid fast. I won't be back for a fourth season of this. It is weird comparing this to WestWorld. At least Humans showed robots out in the real world, versus just in an elaborate isolated resort playing parts. And Mia's running was all wrong. In the first 2 seasons the synths ran with their heads upright, their backs straight, and their arms straight down at their sides. It was like their legs were operating independently of their bodies. Mia put her head down, crouched slightly, and held her arms with elbows bent. Just like a human running. Wrong. Link to comment
AllAboutMBTV July 29, 2018 Share July 29, 2018 I really only watched this season for Dino Fetscher (Stanley). And, yes, I am typing this from the shallow end of the pool with no shame at all. 1 Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo October 15, 2018 Share October 15, 2018 Oh, Mia. Sweet and peaceful to the very end. I was surprised that Neil turned out not to be a total shit. I don't know why Max is so intent on kicking Leo out just because he's not as synthy as before. Leo loves his family regardless of the synth part of his brain getting fried when Hester stabbed him.
